I forget that Cleon is supposed to have a stiff face or at least limited facial expressions but then again u can make characters express a lot with little changes so I’ll just say the only time he would express something is if it’s a strong emotion because besides that he normally looks like this 😐 because he has to manually move his face if it’s not a strong emotion

I would like to note that the bird is not a separate being it’s a part of Cleon’s body

I’m not saying that this is what Cleon looks like without his face but it’s close

so uhhh maybe perchance I wanted to see what @sir-needle’s character Cleon looked like if he was broken clockwork. ALSO I kinda maybe forgot the little piece of hair that sticks in the front of his hat so pretend some like bad dude shaved it off. I realized this too deep into the doodle process 😓

Trivia piece:

I would like to point out that he hates eating because it’s a sensory nightmare due to his cuckoo bird tongue but he appreciates pleasant smells.

This may be an odd question, but do the residents of Chronolog city eat? Like Cleon, Lenny, and Clark, do any of them have to consume any sort of fuel in order to survive? If so what exactly to they “eat” and how do they eat?

(New characters are made for the sake of example and demonstrating how some Chronolog city residents can look like)

All of them can eat normal food but there are some that can run on other sources of “food” as long they have the means to do so

(They don’t eat batteries/electricity they just can run on it incase if anyone is confused)

Those that can consume other “foods” is entirely optional(it doesn’t taste that good to them anyway). Some only do so because it’s a really good fuel source.

There are animals in the world of Chronolog City and they are mostly normal so meat is a thing too.

The people are not entirely inorganic they are more biomechanic like the outer part can be stuff like wood, plastic, glass or metal, and the inner parts are organs.

The core act as an engine and the food is the fuel. The stomach just breaks down the food like normal except is a lot more acidic but there are some that eat wood. 

If the core is smaller and duller then normal they are probably dying.

I was debating whether to make Cleon’s cane look like a candy cane or not, I decided to do that later for a different illustration

Since Cleon can’t emote very well with his face, outside of his eyes, is his tail one of his main ways of emoting then? If so, do particular tail movements or positions mean certain things?

I don’t follow this strictly so this is just the basics

His tail is just a clock hand

sup! just wanted to ask if you have a ref sheet for Cleon or Jesse, i kinda wanna draw them to totally not express how you're the reason of why i wanna try animating again........

Cleon already had a reference sheet so I went back and updated it also u can use this as an expression sheet.

I’ve noticed that Cleon tends to be teary eyed in a lot of the pieces that you draw or animate him in. Is he just a fellow who cries more easily? Regardless he’s precious and I adore his design.

He doesn’t cry often but he can’t hold back tears. A lot of times he doesn’t realize it. Also Cleon is limited on how to emote so crying is just one of the ways he can emote.

He is some who doesn’t intentionally hide his emotions but can’t express them so he looks like a stoic guy. I mentioned before that he only would express something if it’s a strong emotion.

Also I wanted to try to work with Cleon’s speech because he sometimes coo-coos when he speaks or react to something.
