Notes from My Grimoire: Magpie Oracle

I've been working on constructing a magpie oracle for a while, and I'm finally at a point where I'd like to share a bit about the process, the items I've chosen, and how I plan to read my castings. Once I've got the hang of it for myself, I may start offering freebies to practice, then maybe add it as a new divination offering to my commissions page if it goes well. Who knows!

What is a Magpie Oracle?

A magpie oracle is a form of divination known as "claromancy," in which a collection of seemingly random items are thrown, not unlike runes, to perform a divination. Some practitioners call it "bone throwing," (or osteomancy) coming from the practice of casting actual bones. I prefer to call it magpie oracle just because magpies are amongst my favorite birds, it's one of my family nicknames, and there's no better name for a collection of pretty, shiny things.

"Siento que la oscuridad es diferente aquí" Tuvimos apenas la maravillosa oportunidad de visitar Guanajuato, Guanajuato. Me pareció una excelente experiencia la dr un amigo, me cuenta lo siguiente: "Salgo a caminar en la noche. Me llego a regresar del centro a las 2 de la mañana. Y siento diferente aquí. Más extraño que en Morelos o el Estado [Izcali]. Es como si en esta época del año la noche fuera más noche. No se como explicarlo. Como si todo fuera mas oscuro". Se acerca la época del día de muertos y en efecto, la noche es más "noche" en esta temporada. Es decir, podemos ya sentir la prescencia de la muerte más cerca que nunca. Además, los lugares difieren -en energía, prescencia- en estas fechas por la cantidad de muertos que ahí murieron. Pongo la foto de la Alhóndiga de Granaditas como un ejemplo. Guanajuato [el estado] es la cuna de la independencia, la cantidad de muertos en esas zonas es de las más grandes posiblemente. Clarom que al caminar en la noche [cuando el caos reina] podemos sentir en sus calles la prescencia de ellos. Las Lunas es el octavo disco de estudio de Estelares. Diez canciones, diez episodios acerca de (por fin) el encuentro. Con un otro o quizás con uno mismo. El tiempo que ha llevado la consecución del encuentro. El título del disco refiere a la temporalidad no occidental, medir el tiempo según pasan Las Lunas. Otro paradigma, el tiempo como lo nombraron nuestros ancestros. El tiempo. Un tiempo donde la medida son nada más y nada menos que Las Lunas vividas.

Las personas y el resto

“Soy una persona” y “me considero ciudadana del mundo” son dos de las tres gilipolleces comunes que más me irritan. (”·De tan buena, parezco tonta” completa mi particular lista de sandeces de manual. No olvidéis, conservar la distancia de una precaución con quien sea capaz de atribuirse tanta bondad: estaréis delante de un cabrón manipulador de marca mayor.) Lo de gritar a los cuatro vientos que todas somos iguales, personas humanas, esencialmente idénticas, es una trampa de los discursos de la modernidad que trata de invisibilizar las injusticias más brutales bajo el manto de la democracia y los derechos humanos. (Y a veces, desde la ignorancia y desde el lado cómodo de la barrera, se asimila erróneamente con la lucha queer). Es tan insultante y perverso como los blancos que aseguran sentirse por dentro negros. No te jode, pues hazte un transplante de piel, ensánchate los rasgos faciales y sal a comerte el mundo como negro. Ya verás como aumentan estrepitosamente tus probabilidades de terminar en la cárcel o en la miseria. Y a quien se anuncia como ciudadana del mundo: pues cruza el estrecho de Gibraltar como europea (en ferry) y luego intenta regresar como africana (en patera). Verás que gracia te hace descubrir en tu propia carne la violencia de esas fronteras que a ti parecían no afectarte. Que se lo digan a Deborah, una puta trans sin papeles muy morena y colombiana eso de que todos somos iguales. Clarom, las identidades más evidentes son siempre las desventajosas, las repudiadas, las inferiorizantes. No es muy habitual escuchar a alguien presentarse así: hola, soy Pablo, un bio-hombre, blanco, heteronormativo, machista, homófono, privilegiada y por tanto, facha, es decir, empeñado en que las cosas sigan exactamente como están porque me favorecen, incluso que mejoren para mí y se pongan todavía más chungas para la inmensa mayoría de la población. De hecho, Pablo es bastante fácil que en alguna cena de empresa en que se sienta especialmente inspirado anuncie que se considera “una persona y un ciudadano del mundo”. Y dos cubatas después incluso puede soltar aquello de que es “demasiado bueno” aunque esta tercera perla es más típicamente femenina. Y cuatro tragos más tarde, es bastante fácil que junto a sus compañeros de trabaje acabe en la whiskería “Las Vegas” y elija a Deborah entre el resto de las chicas y le eche un polvo (si es que com tantas copas todavía empalma) y puede que hasta sea más amable con ella de lo que ha sido los últimos veinte años con su esposa. Y al día siguiente, a parte del resacón y del miedo a que sus compañeros se hubieran percatado de que escogió precisamente a la trans (por lo que tendrá que esmerarse en proclamar su virilidad a través de todos los comentarios homófobos que sea capaz de emitir) todo seguirá igual para él. Pensará que a quien no le van bien las cosas, es porque no vale o porque no quiere.
