Today I had the surreal pleasure of finding some 1999 issues of Animerica Extra in a vintage and collectables shop

I love stuff like this, they're such great time capsules of early fandom and the licencing landscape. Look, there's a whole article about how strange and exciting it is that they make manga just about food. You heard of this? Far out!

And you can order these super cool new titles NOT FOR KIDS on VHS by MAIL ORDER! Cutting edge!

Most interesting for me, these issues had a couple of chapters from the Utena manga! Empty Movement will have all these archived somewhere so I won't post every page, but isn't it wild to see this series here, in the context a lot of English-language fans would have discovered it for the first time? Look at that drama! Why is the font like that??

I've heard that the manga is quite different and a lot of people have issues with it, but I will say they DO look great in this classic shoujo style. Even gremlin Chuchu down there

Hi Ren! Of course! Also I just realized my only Christmas requests are from Ren- Weird how that works out. But!! I started this on the Eve of Christmas Eve! Meaning it’s time for Christmas requests to get priority! (Do you guys like my made up rules that make no sense?)

⛦ Gift giving! These two go all out with gifts! Chuuya will buy Dazai a gift and wrap it while he’s big. He gets personal gifts! Things Dazai will appreciate and cherish for years to come. But when he’s regressed he also gets Dazai a gift! He’ll draw him pictures and make Christmas cards. He’ll also get crafty! But crafty things like hot glue aren’t safe for a baby… This can lead to frustration and tantrums. But he can still make it work! His caregiver deserves the bestest gift ever!

₊ ⊹ Dazai gets so many gifts! He steals Chuuya’s money of course. He’ll track down fancy wine for Chuuya, buys elf hats of course, and tons of stuff for his baby! Any kind of pacifier, bib, clothing, etc. anything that says tiny on it? Yup already bought. All sorts of things saying “Santa’s little helper” Dazai loves making fun of his little Chibi! Regressed Chuuya loves all this stuff, oblivious to the teasing, but as soon as he’d in his big headspace Dazai will be like “Oh hey look! It still applies! Chuuya is soo small” This usually ends in Dazai being tackled to the ground

⛦ Decorating! Chuuya has so many fancy decorations. He’s got money! He’s gonna spend it however he wants to thank you very much! But a little baby can’t decorate… So Dazai helps! Dazai can be really silly though. For example decorating the tree? Lights and garlands all draped all over Chuuya. Chuuya tries to take it off as fast as Dazai puts stuff on him. Dazai will also hang ornaments off his hat, play fight using giant decorations like candy canes and stuff, chaos! Chuuya giggles and plays along of course but he also gets annoyed! Not really… But he acts annoyed!

₊ ⊹ So many Christmas movies! Chuuya just wants to watch his movies in quiet comfort. He can snuggle up in Dazai’s arms with some hot cocoa in a sippy cup! He’s a big kid! (3-6) he doesn’t need a bottle like some baby! However Dazai doesn’t watch movies quietly, he talks a lot. Like a lot a lot! And Chuuya loves having reasons to act annoyed with his caregiver! He’ll tell Dazai to shut up, and even just cover Dazai’s mouth with his hand, he’s also absolutely just- Put pacifiers into Dazai’s mouth. Though he only does that if he’s regressed on the younger side, Dazai has cooties! Ewwwww!

⛦ I think Chuuya likes to play in the snow, but only if he’d in an older headspace (4-6). If he’s a baby he just wants to stay inside and cuddle! But during the times he does go outside to play his favorite is snowball fights! Why? Because of his ability of course! Sure the gravity in canceled as soon as they touch Dazai, but that means they’ve already hit their target! He throws them so fast that Dazai can’t even catch up! I also see Chuuya as a generally warm guy, so he’s definitely tried going out in the snow without proper snow gear, meanwhile Dazai who gets cold quickly is just dragging him inside over and over to wrap him up. Chuuya complains about limited mobility of course

₊ ⊹ I don’t think they have matching pajamas, however I think they definitely found a brand that does a set in the same pattern but just like, slightly different? Dazai has a set covered in fish and Chuuya has a set covered in puppies. It’s just the cutest ever! If they were completely matching then it wouldn’t feel as true to them, they fight over everything trust me. Also if at any point the pajamas get ripped Dazai uses bandages as a patch! He’s surprisingly good at sewing, and it gives them a bit more of a matching look!

⛦ Chuuya will try staying up to see Santa, but Dazai won’t let him! Which is super rude considering how late Dazai stays up sometimes… So Chuuya goes to bed, but then he sneaks out! Dazai seems to be fast asleep in bed, so he sneaks into the living room to eat snacks and wait up! But he doesn’t see Santa… He ends up falling asleep on the couch. And when he wakes up..! There’s no presents? He goes crying to Dazai who tells him to double check everything, Chuuya finds it! In his stockings! It’s… Coal?

₊ ⊹ Dazai will just click his tongue and ask Chuuya if he did anything bad, Chuuya, the honest little guy! Admits to staying up late! He feels super bad (ó﹏ò｡) Dazai says that Santa values honesty! Maybe Santa will come back for him… So Chuuya runs off to get dressed since Dazai doesn’t need to help him with that. Then!!!! When he comes downstairs!!!! So many presents!!!! Chuuya stays oblivious but Dazai had the presents ready the night before, but he couldn’t reward Chuuya for staying up after bedtime! So he just played a little trick, then once Chuuya was honest, he got his presents still! And everyone was happy

Pardon for the lateness on this, got busy after the episode aired and then proceeded to write a fic using my achemy brainworms lmao. But here it is, the end of a terrific journey!

The permet stress really took its toll upon Suletta after her bout with Eri but that won't stop our girl from trying to save her family. So rough to see though.

Gotta say, besides Nika and Chuchu, Aliya is easily my fav Earth House kid. She's into divination, takes care of animals, and is just so chill

Surprise Surprise SAL are being cheeky assholes. They don't care what Delling/Benerit has to say since this is just a grasp for power on their behalf. They have all the cards atm with that WMD

This was nice I guess, but I really dislike him so I just rolled my eyes lmao. I guess the one Lauda stan is happy he got screentime.

For Mio to keep entreating Prospera is admirable on her part. She knows it might fall on deaf ears but she has to try for the sake of her future wife and hellish mother-in-law. It was so good how her faith in Suletta never wavers. She knows Suletta is coming and isn't surprised once she shows with Aerial

And Suletta demonstating her growth by ignoring Prospera's command? Top-tier fr fr. Loved that entire exchange and call back to ep12

I don't mind 4 but it is painfully obvious he was slotted into this role because of the truncated re-write. 'I guess I'm like her' No sir, you were explicitly not in S1 LMAO! But I guess they needed a newtype to overpower Eri even though it doesn't narratively make sense for 4 to be one. Ah well, in another world where Okouchi got the seasons he wanted ;-;. It was a nice send off nonetheless

Rainbow party permet is so cool, pride Gundam!! I wasn't too keen on Calibarn's design before, tho I love the broom, the rainbow really sells it for me. And that coven of gundams?? So cool. Schwarzette usage here, abysmal pilot, and wealth of unused symbolism stings a bit. They so clearly had an arc planned but had to cut it :/ I would love to see the initial draft before cuts were made

MIOMIO DISSOLVES BENERIT. Hell yeah. Had a feeling she would choose to go this route. Also, the stone cold way she stares down the barrel of a gun... Ma'am, my heart <3 The best peace princess ever

This hit me in the feels. Suletta forgiving her mother, Eri begging for all of them to be a family, and Prospera seeing the ghosts of Vanadis smiling at her lovingly. It was everything to me.

The soundless fake-out as Mio believes Suletta is dead was cruel and brilliant. The horror in her eyes that morphs into weepy happiness when Suletta awakens will stay with me for a long time. They even did the little gundam helmet bop again!

Shaddiq taking the fall for everything was good of him, but it feels a bit too neat haha (They had to wrap up loose threads hastily and it shows) He really is an interesting character that, in a longer run, could have been amazing

Surprise! Sulemio got happily married during the timeskip and now Mio has to suffer a keychain's negging. Super funny outcome but I hope Eri can move between devices or else that's a bit hellish

Mio stealing Shaddiq's highly trained girlsquad is amazing. Ain't no one getting to the president of GUND-ARM without a fight. This also opens up the possibility for more Sabanika, so excellent decision all around

THE RINGS!!!! Ahh any nitpicks are nothing compared to sheer happiness I feel when seeing them. They fought and suffered so hard for this ending and it was all worth it! Eri and Prospera sharing in their joy is the cherry on top~

This image is my fav. Suletta is such a special protagonist and her relationship with Miorine broke ground in a legacy franchise no less. They are in love! They married! And no one can take that from them. Thank you GWitch, I love you lots. This ride has been unforgettable from the beginning <3

What if any of Kirby's friends were to catch him being really sad or even crying?

These are my headcanons for how Kirby's friends would try to comfort him or cheer him up whenever they catch him crying, or just being really sad in general.

A really sad Kirby is not something that anyone wants to see!

King Dedede would give Kirby big comforting bear-hugs while also listening to him ventilate on why he's crying. He'd also try to say some funny things in an attempt to improve Kirby's mood. Maybe even offer him a little hammer to go bash objects for kicks and giggles.

Meta Knight would want to know the reason why Kirby is crying, and if it's someone who caused it, then he'll beat them up. He'd attempt to give advice and comfort Kirby, even if he's not exactly the best at that, but he'd do his best to make sure his little buddy feels better.

Bandana Waddle Dee would pat Kirby's shoulder a bunch as well as offering a hug to try to comfort him. He'd also ask him if he'd like to play a fun game together to make the rest of the day better.

The animal friends would all be very concerned if they caught Kirby really feeling down and would want to know why he's upset. Rick, Nago, and ChuChu would all give him hugs, with Nago being a literal cuddle-bug! Coo may potentially also give a hug, but would usually carry him in the air to give him some good breeze. Kine would tell him jokes and maybe also give him a ride inside his mouth while he swims through a pond or something. Pitch would also tell him jokes, and perhaps ask Kirby if he wants to play around.

Gooey would ask Kirby if he'd like something to eat, and may also let Kirby hug him to give him some comfort. He would likely also ask if he'd like to play. He may even offer to sleep with Kirby inside his house for the night to help improve the rest of his day.

Marx is the reason why Kirby is crying. Marx needs to get his butt kicked! LOL.... just kidding. In all seriousness, while Marx is generally not good at comforting people, I think he'd try to cheer Kirby up by saying funny stuff, or making funny faces. He may also take him out to go have some fun.

Adeleine would ask Kirby if he'd like to draw with her to help get his mind off of things! If he doesn't want to draw, then she'd offer to let him watch her, and she'll be willing to paint anything he'd want her to paint. She may also summon food through art to cheer him up, too.

Ribbon would be very worried to see Kirby upset. She'd give him a hug. She'd take him to go find his very favorite food to help improve his mood. She would also tell him that tomorrow will be better.

Shadow Kirby would give his pink counterpart some pats on the shoulder and tell him funny things to help cheer him up. He'd also offer to go find food together.

Dark Meta Knight would let Kirby temporarily use his sword to play around with for a bit until he begins to feel better.

Daroach would offer to take Kirby to go "shopping" (stealing). He'd also perform some magic tricks for him as a way to make him see cool things to help get his mind off of things. He may also tell jokes!

Magolor would offer to take Kirby to Merry Magoland and rig the games to help him win the biggest prizes. Before Magoland opened, he would take Kirby on a quick ride to the Lor Starcutter to help cheer him up. He'd also tell him jokes and do his best to make him laugh.

Taranza would give Kirby a big hug. He'd ask him if he'd like to do a quiet activity such as gardening. He could also try to make cool things out of his magic to give Kirby some super cool stuff to look at to help cheer him up.

Susie would take Kirby out to get some ice cream somewhere, and they'd both eat ice cream together. She'd also give him a robotic toy or an electronic to play around with. If he feels especially down, she might also decide to sing him a soothing lullaby!

The Mage Sisters would all give Kirby head-pats and maybe even let him use their weapons for a bit to destroy things for fun. They may also put up a 'show' for him where they all coordinate in doing visually cool things with their weapons.

Elfilin would give Kirby a hug and ask if he'd like to play around. If he's in Popstar and catches Kirby sad there, he'd offer to open up a portal to visit Waddle Dee Town again for Kirby to have fun there.

That's basically how I headcanon Kirby's friends cheering him up if they catch him in a sad mood, whether it's him crying or just being very sad in general. Some of them may not be good at comforting but one simply does not like to watch precious Kirby be so sad. They'd try to help even if it may be awkward.

Random Kirby Headcanon #19

As an astral, Kirby doesn’t have a biological family. However, shortly after he arrived in Dreamland, Rick, Kine and Coo took him in, and they’ve effectively served as his parents ever since. Similarly, he sees the the rest of the Animal Friends as family, with Nago as a beloved uncle and Chuchu and Pitch as siblings.

Dedede comes from a kingdom many miles from Dreamland. He grew up a spoiled only child who was enabled by his parents. He wasn’t royalty, but he dang sure felt like he was! This led to him developing a massive ego, and eventually he was kicked out for generally being a lazy and rude person. His family told him he needed to change, and he clearly wasn’t going to do that here. Shortly after, Dedede found Dreamland and declared himself king, and well… the rest is history.

Surprisingly, Dedede still has a good relationship with his family despite getting booted like that. In hindsight, he realized it was what he needed, and they seem to be proud of him for finally maturing into a relatively well-adjusted adult despite their originally sub-par parenting.

Meta Knight was created by Nightmare, so the evil wizard is technically his ‘father.’ However, he’s long since cut him off, and considers the Halberd crew his family instead.

Bandee grew up an only child. This is an EXTREMELY rare occurrence for Waddle Dees. In a way, though, it’s what spurred his independent, self-sufficient behavior. He was raised by an only mom who he’s still very close to, and seems to get some of his fiery behavior from her.

Interestingly, Bandee and his mother did not live at the castle or serve Dedede. They had no interest in doing so. It wasn’t until later that Bandee stared working for the king

Rick grew up the eldest of eight children on another planet. His family wasn’t very well off, but his mother and father tried their best to provide for them. Eventually, he set out looking for adventure, but he and his family are still close, and he regularly visits.

Kine was the youngest of three siblings. His siblings pushed him around a bit as a kid, so he learned how to strike back relatively quickly. That said, it was never anything more than well-intentioned teasing, and he still loves his family even if they can get on his nerves.

Coo has a twin sister. She’s much, much, MUCH more rambunctious and bubbly than he is— a bit of a daredevil, too. One has to wonder if his more serious and stern nature arose from keeping her in check when they were young.

Nago grew up on the same planet as Rick, albeit better off. The two didn’t know each other super well, but they were acquainted, at the very least. He was the middle sibling. Eventually, he too set off to make his own, and also traveled to Popstar. There, he bumped into Rick, who offered to take him in for a bit. He ended up getting on well with the rest of the Animal Friends, though, and so he’s just sort of… stayed.

Apparently his siblings are every bit as lazy and cuddly as he is. Their favorite activity as kids was laying in a big snuggle pile basking in the sun together.

Pitch is, believe it or not, Coo’s son. Initially, he had no relationship with his father, who was a bit irresponsible at the time— afraid of commitment, and effectively left his mother on her own. Eventually, though, after Coo took in Kirby, he realized he wanted a relationship with Pitch and reached out. Pitch’s mother was hesitant at first, but cautiously agreed, and nowadays they’re healthy coparents, with Coo having apologized for how he treated her and explaining it.

Chuchu was found washed up on one of Dreamland’s beaches one day, VERY young with nowhere to go. It seems she was probably separated from her birth family? The Animal Friends— especially Kine ended up looking after her, though, and she’s completely content having them as a family.

Gooey does not have a traditional biological family as Dark Matter. Technically the rest of the species is a family of sorts, but he doesn’t like them all too much. Instead, he also considers the Animal Friends his family.

Marx has no real relationship with his family. They’re your typical sleepy Noddies and so he generally finds them boring and un-noteworthy.

Adeleine grew up on Shiver Star alone due to reasons I should really get into in another post eventually. As such, she has no known biological family, but after Kirby 64 she was effectively taken in by Queen Ripple.

Ribbon’s parents disappeared shortly after she was born. Her mother— close friends with Queen Ripple, asked her to keep an eye on Ribbon while they were off on a quest, but they… never returned. Ripple doesn’t think they were the type to leave their daughter behind, and so it’s unfortunately likely something bad happened. She’s raised Ribbon for the majority of her life, and the two of them are very close despite the fact that Ripple was more or less tossed into this completely unprepared for it to be a long term thing at first.

Dark Meta Knight considers Dark Mind his ‘father.’ Like Nightmare created Meta Knight, it created him. He’s loyal to a fault to the corrupt being, and would do almost anything for it.

Daroach grew up an orphan on the same planet as Rick and Nago. He never really knew Nago, but he’d sneak out of the orphanage to get up to shenanigans with Rick, as the two of them were childhood besties. Eventually, after a fallout with Rick as adults, he returned to their home planet, where he met the rest of the Squeaks, who he now effectively considers his family. Spinni and the Squeakers in particular were a bunch of kids he busted out of the same orphanage he grew up in.

Magolor has no known family, never having met his parents and having grown up in Another Dimension. This is something he’s touchy about, and he’s secretly deeply insecure over not even knowing what he ‘is’ or what sort of history he comes from.

Following Star Allies, though, he’s sort of started inserting himself into the Jamba family. He quite looks up to Hyness as an ancient as well as a more mature adult and likes the Mage Sisters as well, so desperate for a place to belong, he’s started being like “I can join your found family, riiiighhhtt? I’m a cool guy.” And inviting himself to their holiday dinners.

Hyness just hasn’t had the heart to turn him away. He’s a poor little kitty with nowhere to go! Of course he can be considered part of their family. 🥺🥺🥺

Zan Partizanne wants him to die.

Taranza grew up an only child and a commoner, and is estranged from his parents. They never quite approved of his friendship with Joronia, thinking she was a bad influence on him, and at only 14 or 15 he ran away to become her retainer despite their objections. In theory, things were still salvageable at that point, but seeing as how he’s since aided and abetted a dictator I think his parents are pretty disgusted with him. They sincerely think they raised a monster, and from the perspective of the rest of Floralia, they’re not entirely wrong.

He’s considered trying to fix things with them but always decided against it. He has a feeling they’d try to make him admit to Joronia being bad the whole time and them having been right all along, and he simply won’t hear it. She was a good person until he messed everything up. He won’t spit on her memory like that.

Joronia/Sectonia herself also had a poor relationship with her family. She was always held to an extremely high, if not outright unhealthy standard when she was younger, and they pretty much never let her have fun or be a kid. When she went off the deep end she ended up having them assassinated alongside the rest of the royal court, terrified someone would try to usurp her.

Susie’s relationship with her father is obvious. She’s never known her mother, though. Haltmann was irresponsible and messed around a bit when he was younger. One instance of this messing around resulted in Susie. Shortly afterwards, her mother showed up on Haltmann’s door, saying she had no idea what she was going to do. She was considering finding someone else to take care of the child, but at least wanted to ask him for his input first as the father.

Initially, Haltmann was all-in on this plan, but once he saw Susie herself something just… changed. He realized she was little and vulnerable and his, pretty much instantly falling in love. He never planned to be a father before that, especially not as young as he became one, but he just couldn’t bear the idea of leaving this sweet little kid in anyone else’s hands. If he didn’t protect her, who would?

As such, he pretty much fully embraced the role of single dad while the mother handed Susie over to him and they parted on good terms. Susie doesn’t think she’d be interested in meeting her mom. It’s not like she’s ever has a relationship with her, and it would probably just make her sad. She’s not looking for a replacement for the parent she had and lost.

Francisca has no recollection of her biological family, having been found alone in a blizzard when she was too young to form long term memories. Flamberge was close with her biological family—consisting of a mother, a father, and two older sisters, but all four of them died in the fire that nearly took her life as well. Zan Partizanne refuses to speak about her biological family, but the general understanding is they were extremely abusive, quite literally driving her to the brink.

Nowadays they, obviously, consider each other family, alongside Hyness. In fact, if you were to ask Francisca and Zan, this is the only real family they’ve ever had.

Hyness had a traumatizing childhood. He was very close with his parents, but was young when he and the other magic users were driven from their homes. Both of his parents ended up dying on the journey being chased to the very edge of the galaxy and he never quite got over it. He was taken care of by the other magic users, but eventually fell into the occult looking for some sense of control over his life. Now, many years later, he’s an unwell old man.

While Elfilin and Forgo have no real parents (Except, perhaps, Elfilin considering Carol something akin to a mother figure), Elfilis was actually created by Morpho Knight. It was hoping to create a being that would strike down the wicked and fell corrupt societies en masse. Elfilis quickly got out of control, however, considering just about everyone wicked, and when they were captured Morpho decided it was probably for the best not to help. It abandoned its only creation.

When Morpho appeared to put Fecto Forgo out of its misery in Forgo Dreams, Forgo sincerely thought Morpho was finally coming to rescue it. It was not.

Morpho has since taken to watching Elfilin from a distance, grateful that some good, at least, could come from its mistake.

Galacta grew up with a sister around the same age as him. She wasn’t one of the heroes of yore, but they were decently close, although they also argued a fair amount… especially about how far he’d go on occasion. When the Ancients turned on Galacta, they turned on her too, paranoid she would try to free him. Also testing out the ability to create magical artifacts through channeling peoples’ souls at the time, they sealed her in a legendary sword, that way she could never interfere with their plans.

I believe her name was something like… Galaxia? No-one’s quite sure, though. It seems she just hasn’t gone down in history in the same way.

Prince Fluff’s mom also left when he was young, setting off in search of the creator of Patchland, who she was very close with once upon a time, but who seemingly abandoned her since. Ironically, in doing so, it seems she effectively went on to abandon someone as well: her own son, seeing as she’s never returned. Fluff doesn’t know if she’s still out there somewhere, still searching, or if a terrible fate has befallen her. Either way, he’s been alone for most of his life and was forced to grow up far too young.

KIRBY'S DREAMLAND 3 ON THE SUPER NINTENDO ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM!!!!!! YAAAAAAAAAAAY IM SO STOKED ABT THIS DRAWING SERIES (it is going to take me a million years to finish and be much longer than KDL2 just a warning LOL)!!!! KDL3 is one of my favorite Kirby games, I played it all the time as a kid! Tbf a lot of Kirby games are my favorite. But this is probably my favorite OLD Kirby game! It's missing a lot of modern Kirby conventions, but I still love it so much, it's so cozy and warm.

In my gijinka AU timeline it's set about a year after Star Stacker, so Kirby is now 13. I dunno if I set ages for the original Animal Friends ngl. I think Coo's in his early 50's, Kine's in his early 40's, and Rick's in his mid 20's. ALSO I finally found out what the nonbinary equivalent to nephew/niece is!! It's nibling!! Kirby is Rick, Coo, and Kine's honorary nibling!

I will get into Acro and Ado's context in this gijinka universe during their respective boss encounters, but for now I CAN tell you about the new generation of Animal Friends! I described them on instagram as "extended found family"-- they're loosely connected to the original 3 Animal Friends in the sense that they know them well, but they're brought closer together through knowing Kirby!

Nago is from the Iceberg and knows Rick well because he often visits the Iceberg to improve his climbing skills. I imagine that he and Kirby might 'click' because Nago is trans and Kirby is nonbinary? Nago's a teenager/young adult, but is the oldest of the 3 new Animal Friends. He's a werecat and can turn into a giant calico cat whenever he feels like it! So I guess he and Rick probably would be friends since they're very alike?

Chuchu is from Ripple Field, so she and Kine have met before! Kine has told her many stories about his adventures as a Dark Matter hunter on the surface world, though Chuchu finds herself most interested in his friend Kirby! She thinks Kirby is cute and wants to date him. Kirby has never dated anyone in his entire life and has no idea what romance is like! Chuchu is a flapjack octopus mermaid with mild transformation abilities-- she doesn't have a fully human form like Kine does and is instead half human half octopus in her default form, but fully octopus while transformed. Chuchu is a year older than Kirby.

Pitch is a harpy like Coo, but he's just a lost baby essentially. He's only 4 years old! For now Coo is looking after him since there aren't many other harpies in Dreamland (much less any who'd want to care for Pitch) but they both really want to find Pitch's mother. Pitch sees Kirby as an older brother and likes to shadow him. Unlike Coo, Pitch shrinks when he transforms and turns into a tiny bird you can fit in the palm of your hand! I think he is a shima enaga specifically. A colorful one I guess. They can't be green irl lol.

ALSO I decided to reveal Zero extra early because honestly I don't like that they're just, at the end of the game only! And I like their design a lot. I've drawn them before. I think they deserve a bit more limelight! So I drew them in 2 panels here.

3. 3 films you could watch for the rest of your life and not get bored of?

Ohhh this is tricky! I think 1. Death Becomes her, 2. The Hobit and 3. any of the Tinkerbell movies!! I'm not that big of a movie person but they're all very good and I've watched them many many times. Death Becomes her is spooky and fun and camp and just so over the top, it's great. It's also a bit weird. Weird is important. The Hobit is just a classic and it's got a lot of good elements to it, it's so pretty too. And Tinkerbell is just one of those films that I had on repeat as a kid. Tink was one of the few female characters I really related too, she wasn't a charicature of "girly" nor was she a one dimensional tomboy, she was flawed, her anger issues were treated as something that was a weakness of hers yet also a defining quality in a way that wasn't undermining and her whole story is about not feeling like you fit in and finding your own path in life. 28. do you collect anything?

I have a few tins full of seashells, seaglass and bits of pottery I've found at the beach/river! I plan on collecting tea sets when I'm older and have a kitchen of my own, I've got one in the shape of a cottage at the moment, it's second hand and I love it. I'd like to collect stuff in the future but I try to save money when I can and not buy things that I don't need. I'm not minimalist, no but it's important not to have stuff for the sake of it. I've been eyeing up some figurines (see below, bug/spider warning) but I'm not really sure the best way to go about finding a line/company I like or even a place to buy them from that ship to the UK. If anyone has any tips I'd love to hear!

God, today's episode of G-Witch... On one hand, everyone's favorite Tanuki has begun the healing process, and found her resolve once again, but on the other... GREAT GOOGLY MOOGLY, IT'S ALL GOING TO SHIT.

Guel and Miorine uncover Shaddiq's involvement with Dawn of Fold and the attack on Plant Quetta, (even though it was because that fat fucker Kenanji was INTERROGATING A GODDAMN CHILD) but Miorine tells Guell to not jump the gun and gather actual evidence, so both Kenanji and Guel return to Asticassia to find Sarius Zenelli in order to implicate Shaddiq.

Meanwhile, Prospera fucks over Miorine's negotiations with her usual brand of bullshit, causing a veritable powder keg to ignite as the entire city goes up in flames as the Cathedra forces and the Earthians come to blows... but at the same time, she just destroyed the Space Assembly League and Ochs Earth's hidden bunker stocked with the remaining Pre-Production Type Lfriths, both denying them the means to produce more Gundams like the Ur and Thorn, and to also deliver some measure of vengeance for her friends and family from the Vanadis Institute, who died as a result of the League's machinations, and the betrayal of Ochs Earth who funded the construction of the Lfriths to begin with.

That all aside, I was surprised to see SECELIA of all people not only being spot-on with her assessment of Martin's dilemma, but also telling him to nut up and come clean about his involvement in Nika's detainment to the rest of Earth House. Yeah, she's teasing Martin mercilessly, pushing at all of his buttons, and even coercing him into serving her so she keeps quiet... but once Martin pushes back, she's surprisingly calm and direct with him. Then, as we all see, the rest of Earth House is rather understanding regarding the whole situation, even if there are conflicting opinions once the truth comes out.

I am still recovering from today's episode tbh. Drank a bit last night so I'm not doing super bright so my thoughts aren't that detailed but there's a few things I was obsessed with in this episode

I love Kenanji so much because we get to see his ruthless, violent streak that he hides under that sociable and cheerful facade. Of course what he did is wrong but also he knows shit and thanks to him Guel was able to find out Shaddiq was behind Queta and the terrorist attack at Asticassia.

Which brings me to my actual favorite part of the episode-that scene with Norea losing her marbles and El5n holding her back as she cries for Sophie. It's the first time I've seen El5n show any sort of sympathy for anyone, and it happens to be because Norea is afraid of death but so is he. El5n acts happy go lucky because he knows he's a replaceable tool that will be scraped as soon as he's not useful anymore. That's why Nika wouldn't understand. But he can. Foaming at the mouth etc etc

I am also obsessed with the fact that Secelia, while blackmailing Martin actually managed to direct him to find a real solution and talk things through with the earth kids honestly. Like she did it in the worst possible way but she did it. Task failed successfully. I guess she did have a reason to be behind the counselling booth.

I love how we almost felt something positive for Prospera last episode because this one she was 100% back on her bullshit. Deadass started a carnage and destroyed every chance for peace on earth for her vengeance. I love that about her, I really really like how she is written as a ruthless and calculating person who is willing to let the world burn to get her way

And back to our tanuki. I am so glad she found her way out of her dark hole of depression. And I'm so happy to see how much the earth kids and specially Chuchu care for her and how thankful and appreciative she is of them!!! And now we get to see what Suletta will do now that she is truly free. She understands things for the first time and will make her own decisions now. What will those be? can't wait aaaaa

‘Catnapped!’, or ‘The trailer that is on the Pioneer Entertainment Sailor Moon Dub movies’

If you know what I’m talking about, you’re a legend. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, this is worth watching. It actually gives away much of the movie but honestly speaking, the fact it still got me deciding to watch it after all these years means it did its job as a trailer to hook someone.

Catnapped!, or Totsuzen! Neko no Kuni Banipal Witt, was a children’s anime film released in 1995. It’s a movie I think is one the two films that will have me getting close to understanding what is an acid trip (said other film is Yellow Submarine). And WOAH the background of Catnapped! are super gorgeous at times! The details on it to be honest, always got my attention even when watching the trailer, but watching the movie in its entirely is something else!

The simple details of the normal, everyday world Toriyasu and Meeko and Papadoll live in vs the complex details of Banipal Witt shows how whimsical the latter is. The fairy-tale vibes of Banipal Witt gets more greater when seeing Buburina’s flashback and how she got her curse (that dancing section is in my mine), and the odd scene regarding the cat and mouse romance (felt out of place, made worse because it’s never brought up again) are the stand out.

The cat characters who live in Banipal Witt honestly have cool designs (the three scientists character design’s fit their personalities, ChuChu, DohDoh, and Buburina’s design are cool and I love as well, for it fits their personalities too. Buburina’s child design I love the most! Really works with the fairy-tale vibes as mentioned before). and the fact that Toriyasu and Meeko’s human designs translation into cat is so cool and not really creepy. Well, except for the teeth stuff, but that’s just the exception. And Papadoll’s monster form...

The movie is really straight forward in its plot. Two children lost their dog and have no idea where he is. Meeko, the younger of the two who is excitable and a believer of aliens and other sorts, is a bit more concern of their lost dog Papadoll. Toriyasu is more...uncaring, for he’s something of a jerk and skeptic of many things, like aliens and other sorts. However, as the movie goes on, you see more of Toriyasu’s character and how he came to be by the movie’s present. I think it went a bit too fast in my opinion, but it’s a kid film with a limited time, and well, I still like it.

Overall, it’s a movie I think that needs more attention, but I understand why it doesn’t because this film is old and honestly forgotten. At the very least, watch the trailer that I linked so you can see the gist of the movie, and hear one of the catchiest songs you’ll ever hear in your life.

The Paintbrush changes form depending on which world Adeleine's in: on her world, it resembles her paintbrush in Dream Land 3/64; on Pop Star, it resembles the Power Paintbrush from Canvas Curse

Nago often accompanies Adeleine back to her world starting in Episode 5; folks just think he's a pretty big stray cat that followed her home one day. This was a good call by the writers, as this means Addy has an ally with her even there. Any of the other Animal Friends would be much more suspicious

Why, you may or may not ask? Well, Rick is a hamster Nago's size, and Coo, Pitch, Kine and Chuchu (spelled "Choo-Choo" here. She likes trains) would be mistaken for zoo and aquarium escapees, respectively

Queen Ripple and Ribbon also come to Adeleines world in some episodes, under the convenient excuse that Ribbon needs a babysitter, and wouldn't you know? Addy is perfect for the job!

The Super Art Studio, along with Adeleine's "red beret, green top, gray dress" look, debut in episode 15, Every Artist Starts Somewhere. It's a youth center with lots of things to do, where latchkey kids like Addy go after school. There's a Portal Picture here, as well!

Every episode has a Paint Along with Adeleine segment either at the beginning or the end of the cartoon, where a live-action Addy shows the audience how to paint a simple picture of something, always relevant to the adventure she has in the episode. In the first 14 episodes, this takes place in her room, while from Episode 15 onwards, it takes place in the Super Art Studio. (EDIT: and here's the music that plays when she paints!)

A bit of a transitional episode for the most part though it does escalate some things quite a bit. Always a fun ride on GWitch's coaster of madness and mechs!

First on the docket, Asticassia's aftermath. They really treat you to the scope of its devastation and the students having to wait it out. Bit odd imo they make the students camp there but I guess their parents are likely scattered anyway considering the state of Benerit.

Also was it just me or did y'all instinctively look for Loss in this image? Nicely organized camp at least.

Omg I might cry. Precious Suletta has decided to take it upon herself to care for the students. rescuing them in multiple ways I see. For me, it drives home the message that human connection and community are more important than destructive forces clashing. Empathy over games of war or corporate power struggles. It's also nice that Secilia* (edit: had a brain lapse lol) questions her reasons for altruism.

We finally see how Mio is faring and it's not great! She's taken on the guilt of Prospera's induced bloodshed along with Shaddiq's. Guel tries to reassure her but Mio is firm. This is her fault. Ngl, Guel, you're partly to blame for the school. No offense. It hurts to see Mio take on other people's wrongdoing, but that's a martyr for you

Her talk with Shaddiq was interesting for a variety of reasons, but what stood out to me was their mutual resignation. They're both so tired. Shaddiq admitting he escalated because of Guel and Mio is insane tbh. She calls him an idiot, but it lacks her usual fire. I do like that he tries to protect Sabina and the gang; really speaks to the fact he's more complex than a mustache twirling villain.

OMG Chuchu giving these two tomatoes instead of punches like before was amazing. The growth! The compassion! Ugh it was so good. As was the reveal that Suletta has been stockpiling the tomatoes. Mio might not know it, but she and by extension her mother aided these wounded kids. And Suletta musing on Mio fondly? Peak

After surviving the hell room, I can't blame her for reassessing her life and priorities. Sad she lost her dream but it was tainted by Shaddiq so I understand her reasoning. She'll earn her way back fairly, though it might not be any time soon once she submits herself to the authorities.

I wasn't surprised by this. Peil's horse in the presidency war lost, so might as well turncoat. They're opportunists at heart. The pure SALT though! It was the worst kind of news for everyone else at Benerit, including Mio. Forcible suppression are not words you want to hear

It's awful of me but this screenshot made me laugh. Something about her slumped forward and mouth open, just dead to everything around her. I'm sorry Mio, I'm sad for you still. She's having a hell of a month.

Sarius, surprisingly, is willing to take the fall and allow Grassley to bear the consequences. But Mio won't allow it. She can't accept anyone bearing 'her' sins. She's fully become the rose bride, enduring humanity's hatred willingly. There's also a bit of subtext here as she alludes to sacrificing Suletta. She won't do that again, no matter who it is.

YO OKAY! Suletta while being questioned by Bel and Guston, drops her clone origins super casually. No spite or outward grief either. Just yeah, Mom won't care what I say because she only loves Eri. That's rough buddy.

Surprise! The SAL confiscated a never before seen or mentioned Gundam from Vanadis. And it just so happens to be a monstrous one without a permet filter I'll admit, very confusing for me at first watch. I couldn't figure out why they sprung this without any foreshadowing, but after days I have an inkling.

I'll be frank. I'm not sure why I like Belmeria. She's super pathetic. Just an absolute failure at life with the mental fortitude of toilet paper. But she's pitiable, clearly grieving, and guilty she did not perish at Folkvangr. Has done terrible things as 5lan would attest, but she's still weirdly likable. Like an aunt who everyone hates at family reunions but they're nice to you and make good cookies. Maybe it's just me

Aaaand the suppression of Benerit was swiftly canceled. Lol. QZ can't be stopped now that Prospera has assumed direct control and destroyed every threat to her daughter's eternity.

I did note QZ looks blatantly like a coffin, which considering the Utena parallel has interesting implications. Read this post here to see my musings. It's not a dire thing imo.

Did a huge number on Mio's psyche unfortunately, which I think is the true tragedy. Red shirts got nothing on babygirl. Gotta double down on those swords piercing her with guilt and misplaced hatred. I'm marveling at what they're doing with the Utena intertextuality even as I bleed for Mio's state of mind. She's so fragile now

Yay Chuchu and gang are coming along to fetch Calibarn! Wait, that might be bad. Oh well, Earth House has been crazy lucky so far. Hopefully it'll hold. I will actually lose it if any of them die.

And we have 5lan suddenly deciding to go. I have some thoughts about why, which I've discussed in another post, but for now let's assume he's telling the truth and only wants to leave. He's an interesting character and bounces well off any cast member so it's cool with me. I enjoyed him going out of his way to apologize for harrassing Suletta.

Lauda Lauda Lauda... don't you know anyone who threatens Mio gets Suletta slapped. It's happened three times now and two of them were fatal. He's just gonna get someone killed, and it won't be Mio. I know we see him staring at Schwarzette but I don't think he would need to or have the ability to pilot it. Mio isn't a pilot, so I suspect he'll attack her with more practical means. Could be wrong ofc! This show loves twists and curveballs.

I am eager to see what the rest of this cour has in store for us!
