Freud

Criticizes | Freud – 1st Season (2020) – The story of the father of psychoanalysis is told in a messy way, but full of mystery
Freud is a different guy in an idealistic era, the new series from Netflix, tries to show another perspective of the father of psychoanalysis, but makes mistakes and confuses history.
The young Sigmund Freud (Robert Finster) is a free spirit who loves to understand the human mind. Your housekeeper Lenore (Brigitte Kren) is always there to help you with neurology. Freud has struggled to settle in the medical community and is behind on rent. He doesn't really sleep or eat, and sometimes uses cocaine. But his life is parade by detectives Alfred Kiss (Georg Friedrich) and Franz Poschacher (Christoph F. Krutzler), who were at a crime scene in a boarding house, looking at the bloody body of a young woman, who suddenly started breathe again. Since Freud is the closest doctor, they bring him to his apartment, but she dies. The story begins at these points and along the way we also meet the medium, Fleur Salomé (Ella Rumpf), who “channels” spirits.

Freud it looks like it tries to be a series about psychiatrist Sigmund Freud, but it's a big mess.
Director Marvin Kren and his co-writers Stefan Brunner and Benjamin Hessler, reimagine him in a similar way to an investigator. In episode 1 you can see how hard the series deals with the personality of the character and tries to increase it. During the series they make Freud become a kind of Sherlock Holmes, at the same time that he has to fight for his theories to be accepted by the medical community, at that time kind of idealistic.
Mental health is treated in the series in a rather superficial way, as they make the story intertwine with a murder mystery, with Freud's work with Fleur and the world of dreams and nightmares he lives in. The series begins with an interesting proposal, which delivers good twists, but the real action is late, and the plot ends up being inappropriate for the whole central plot.

Freud kind of becomes the Elementary Sherlock.
The instigating and interesting point of the series is the way that she is not afraid to show everything and everyone. The characters exhibit a charisma that works well, and some unusual situations end up being fun, but in general the plot is tiring and lost in what it should deliver.
