Plot(edit)
After his girlfriend Tracy breaks up with him, Erik Stifler and his friend Cooze arrive at the University of Michigan as freshmen. Erik meets a girl named Ashley and his new roommate Bobby. Erik is then welcomed by his cousin, Dwight Stifler, the leader of the Beta House fraternity; who invites Erik, Cooze, and Bobby to a party. They meet Wesley, the rush chair of Beta House who experiences alcohol blackouts, and learn how they can gain eligibility to pledge for the Beta House. They are also informed by Dwight that the Geek House, ran by wealthy nerds, has been trying to shut down Beta House.

Erik and Ashley go on a first date at a restaurant where Erik has hot soup spilled accidentally on his legs, so Ashley brings him to her room to clean up. As Ashley rubs lotion on Erik's thigh, he accidentally ejaculates on her belongings. Erik apologizes and explains to Ashley that, after breaking up with Tracy, he has not had an orgasm in four months due to masturbation being a taboo in his house because of a previous incident. Meanwhile, Cooze falls in love with Ashley's roommate Denise; however, she is nervous about having sex with him, so she gives Cooze a handjob instead. After talking with Erik, Bobby, and Dwight about Denise, Cooze develops suspicions that Denise might have a penis.
Along with two other pledges, Erik, Cooze, and Bobby complete fifty tasks to pledge the Beta House, including: getting their butts signed by a stripper, having sex with a professor, marrying a fellow pledge, and placing a live ostrich in the Geek House. After they complete their final task (stealing something from the Geek House), Edgar, the president of the Geek House, challenges the Beta House to the 'Greek Olympiad', with the winners taking the loser's House. Before the competition starts, Dwight learns that while attempting to rush the midget fraternity, Edgar had sex with a sheep.

Being the Olympiad's last winner, Beta House alumnusNoah Levenstein returns to campus to officiate the competition. The first game is won by Beta House as Dwight and Edgar compete in removing girls' brassieres. Geek House win the next three matches: a pugil bout turned lightsaber duel, catching a greased pig, and a two-person '69' race. Beta House wins the fifth and sixth competitions: a Russian roulette challenge between Dwight and Edgar with aged horse semen; and a beer drinking competition between all members of both Houses ultimately won by Wesley via a keg stand.
During the final lap dance challenge, Beta House uses Edgar's sheep fetish against him with Bobby's girlfriend Margie wearing a sheep costume, resulting in the Geek House losing the Olympiad. Having won the Geek House mansion, the Beta House hosts a toga party. Erik and Ashley establish their relationship and have sex. Meanwhile, Cooze and Denise finally sleep together as well, and Cooze discovers that what Denise is hiding is the fact that she ejaculates during sex, much to his excitement. In a post-credits scene, Edgar instructs a stripper at the Silver Dollar to dance with the headpiece of the sheep costume.

Christopher McDonald (left) and Eugene Levy reprised their roles from The Naked Mile

American Pie Presents: The Naked Mile, the second installment of the American Pie Presents film series, was a commercial success, and Universal Pictures prepared for a sequel. The Naked Mile's writer, Erik Lindsay, pitched the film by saying: 'Look, we're not going to top Animal House of course, but it's been 25 years. I was in a fraternity for six years. Let's just make a straight pledging movie.'(3) Universal gave Lindsay the green light to write Beta House, and also hired Andrew Waller and The Naked Mile's producer, W. K. Border, as the film's director and producer, respectively.(4) The film's screenplay was based on characters by Adam Herz and on aspects of Lindsay's own life.(5)(6) Lindsay felt that Universal being unworried about making the film similar to Animal House provided 'more opportunities to keep the story organic,' which he found the challenge of writing a sequel.(3)
The film features the same principal cast as The Naked Mile are John White, Steve Talley, Christopher McDonald and Eugene Levy reprise their roles from the preceding film. Levy returned to play Noah Levenstein for his sixth time of American Pie franchise.(7) Craig Kornblau, president of Universal Studios Home Entertainment said: 'we think he (Levy) is crucial to this franchise because his character represents the heart of the movie.'(1)Jake Siegel, Jaclyn A. Smith, Dan Petronijevic, and Jordan Prentice also reprise their roles from The Naked Mile.(7)
Principal photography began on June 4, 2007, and lasted about 'seven (to) eight weeks.'(8)(9) Filming took place at the University of Toronto, Pinewood Toronto Studios and at the Brass Rail strip club in Toronto.(5)(10)(11)Neo Art & Logic, Rogue Pictures and Universal Pictures produced the film on a budget of less than $10 million.(1) The film was intended to be the center of a trilogy beginning with The Naked Mile and although talks for a concluding sequel were held, one has yet to materialise.(5)(12)
Release(edit)
American Pie Presents: Beta House was released direct-to-DVD internationally on December 10, 2007, and in the United States on December 26, 2007. It was marketed with the tagline 'the most outrageous slice of pie!'(7) The film was released in two single-disc DVD editions. The R-rated edition included no special features, while the unrated edition included a commentary track, behind-the-scenes clips, deleted scenes and storylines, a fake service announcement, featurettes, outtakes, a mock in-character interview with Noah Levenstein, music videos by God Made Me Funky, and a 30 Rock episode.(13) Through its first four weeks the DVD sold over 534,000 copies in the United States, generating $12.25 million in sales.(2) Universal Pictures expected to sell more than a million units;(1) sales have since totaled over 898,000 units in the United States, with $18.55 million in revenue.(2)
The film received generally negative reviews from film critics. LaRue Cook of Entertainment Weekly graded the film with a 'D' and wrote, 'what was once a fresh slice of teen comedy has become a slab of stale crudeness.'(14) Scott Weinberg of Moviefone, in his negative review, found the film 'slightly more amusing to sit through than the two previous entries', in particular praising the Star Trek sexual roleplay scene as 'extremely effective.'(15)DVD Talk's Jeffrey Robinson writes that 'if anything, it will bore you and leave you wondering why you wasted an hour and a half of your life.'(13) Writing in JoBlo.com, Adam Quigley poked fun at the film's themes, declaring that 'if there's a lesson to be taken from these films, it's that women are objects, and should always be treated as such.'(16)IGN's Hock Teh gave the film 5/10, writing that it 'stays very close to the American Pie formula,' while criticizing the story as 'devoid of anything remotely semi-compelling or even noteworthy.'(17) In a positive review, Peter Hammond of Maxim describes American Pie Presents: Beta House as 'loaded with sex, laughs and raunchy fun,' writing that it 'may be the most outrageous slice of pie yet!'(10)

As you might be aware, there is a gigantic list of categories for The Emmys, which has made the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences split up the ceremony into two separate weekends, the first of which is deemed the Creative Arts Emmy Awards. That covers the technical and smaller categories including short form, cinematography, and production design.
This year, Hannah Gadsby rightfully garners an Emmy for her writing on Nanette, Russian Doll and Marvelous Ms. Maisel nabbed many technical awards for their beautifully imagined universes, Fleabag was honored for its spot on casting, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend appropriately got honors for original music and choreography, The Simpsons still has staying power after all these years, and James Corden’s Carpool Karaoke has won the hearts and minds of America.
Also, Megan Amram is still without an Emmy for her An Emmy for Megan web series, which is a huge snub. Also, perhaps, it might be a way to force her to renew her own digital short form series, but she needs to, when all is said and done, win one for her genius satire that points an absurdist mirror at the entertainment biz.

CARL’S BLOG: MAMIE, AN OZARK MOUNTAIN GIRL OF COURAGE
Author’s Note:  You that picked cotton during your life time will remember the cotton bowls, green works and if you stayed in the housing furnished by the owner you might remember the sand that found it’s way into the mattress covering.  “Oh, did I ever hate the sand.”  Somehow, we survived the cotton picking days and counted it a blessing when the cotton crops were over.  Do any of you remember how it was?
9-6-20, Cotton picking time in Leachville, Arkansas
The worse part about picking cotton was the sore fingers caused by cotton bowl pricks.  The fingers sometimes got infected.  It normally took two weeks for one’s hands and fingers to adjust to the cotton bowl pricks.  The cotton bowl pricks were not the only thing the Barger children hated about cotton picking.  They also hated the big fussy green worms that fed on the cotton leaves.  When one encountered these fussy worms, the worm would leave a big blister on the hand or arm.  It hurt something awful!  It was like being stung by a wasp.  Mamie would take snuff and dab it on the worm blister.  This took away the sting and made the blister go away.  Carl never adjusted to the sand and grit in his bed. He hated the living conditions but accepted that it was a way of life with the Barger’s.  He dreamed of the day he would not have to pick cotton or fruit. It was not always hard work in Leachville.  On Saturdays, the family went to either Leachville or Monette to get groceries. If they went to Monette, they went to a movie.  The Barger children loved going to the movies.  After the movie, they were treated to a hamburger, French fries, and a coke.  There was not anything better!  Going to a movie and getting a hamburger afterwards was a real treat for the Barger children.  This was big time living to them, or at least they wanted to think that.  On Sundays they went fishing in the creek that ran close to the Milligan house.  Although the fish were not as big as those they caught in the Little Red River, they still made for a tasty meal.  After six weeks in Leachville the Barger’s returned home to Higden where the Barger children went back to school.  They had again missed two weeks of school.  Again, this meant working hard to catch up on their academics.   Everything was going well for the Barger clan until the first part of November.  It was early November when J. D. Stark, who had married Betty, was diagnosed with cancer. This put things in a tailspin for Betty and the Barger’s.  To make things complicated, J. D. was sent to Memphis, Tennessee, to be treated for his cancer.  This meant making trips back and forth for Betty.  J. D.’s illness presented a challenge for both Betty and the Barger’s.   Since   J. D. could not be at home to help Betty, the Barger’s pitched in and helped.  Edward, Mamie, and the children helped Betty cut wood for the winter, helped her feed the cows and horses, and transported her to and from Memphis to see J. D.  On December 7, 1950, J. D. died.   He was only thirty-one years old when he went to be with the Lord.  He and Betty had only a few years together.  The best thing that came from their marriage was the birth of their daughter, Diana Christine Stark.  J. D. was buried at the Crossroads Cemetery at Shiloh, Arkansas.  He was buried in the Stark cemetery plot next to his father and mother, Don, and Ida Stark.

Armenian chef Karen Torosyan awarded a Michelin Star
Armenian chef of the Belgian Bozar restaurant has been awarded the fourth Michelin Star.
“When we love we don’t count,” he captioned a photo on Instagram.
Bozar Restaurant is located in the heart of Brussels in Belgium is the place where Karen Torosyan shares his vision on gastronomy with the world.
Chef Karen Torosyan is one of the most remarkable chefs in Belgium – if not Europe. Karen originally hails from Armenia and arrived in Belgium at the age of 18.
He finished his hospitality studies at INFOBO and gained experience in various types of restaurants such as Michelin starred Bruneau and Chalet de la Forêt.
It was at these restaurants that Karen discovered the real French cooking and the need of structure and hard work in the kitchen. At the famous La Paix restaurant of Chef David Martin, Karen also learnt the business aspects of running a restaurant.

It was under the wings of Chef David Martin that Karen got the opportunity to go his own way with the start of Bozar Brasserie. After a few years he became fully independent and quickly gained name and fame in the culinary world.
Michelin Guides  are a series of guide books published by the French tyre company Michelin for more than a century. The term normally refers to the annually published Michelin Red Guide, the oldest European hotel and restaurant reference guide, which awards up to three Michelin stars for excellence to a select few establishments.
The acquisition or loss of a star can have dramatic effects on the success of a restaurant. Michelin also publishes a series of general guides to cities, regions, and countries, the Green Guides.

Armenia quake in focus of new study on PTSD early treatment benefits
February 15, 2020 – 11:51 AMT
PanARMENIAN.Net – In 1988, a 6.9 magnitude earthquake struck near the northern Armenian city of Spitak. The temblor destroyed cities and is estimated to have killed between 25,000 and 35,000 people, many of whom were schoolchildren.
The latest findings from a long-term, UCLA-led study reveal that children who survived the quake and received psychotherapy soon after have experienced health benefits into adulthood, Medical Xpress says.
The findings are particularly relevant today, said Dr. Armen Goenjian, the study’s lead author and a researcher at the Jane and Terry Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior at UCLA, given the increased frequency and severity of climate-related catastrophes such as hurricanes and wildfires.
This ongoing project is one of the first long-term studies to follow survivors of a natural disaster who experienced post-traumatic stress disorder, or PTSD, more than five years after the event. The research tracks PTSD and depression symptoms in people who received psychotherapy as children, as well as those who did not.
The latest findings, published in the journal Psychological Medicine, also identified factors that contributed to the risk for PTSD and depression among the Spitak quake survivors, including whether their homes were destroyed, the severity of adversity they faced after the earthquake and whether they had chronic medical illnesses after the quake. People who experienced strong social support were less likely to develop PTSD and depression.
The researchers evaluated 164 survivors who were 12 to 14 years old in 1990, about a year and a half year after the earthquake. Of that group, 94 lived in the city of Gyumri, which experienced substantial destruction and thousands of deaths. The other 70 lived in Spitak, where the damage was far more severe and there was a higher rate of death.
A few weeks after the initial assessment, mental health workers provided trauma- and grief-focused psychotherapy in some schools in Gyumri, but not in others because of a shortage of trained medical staff.
“We were comparing two devastated cities that had different levels of post-earthquake adversities,” Goenjian said. “People in Spitak, who experienced more destruction, earthquake-related deaths and injuries but experienced fewer post-earthquake adversities, had a better recovery from PTSD and depression than survivors in Gyumri.”
Researchers interviewed survivors five and 25 years after the earthquake. They found that people from Gyumri who received psychotherapy had significantly greater improvements in both their depression and PTSD symptoms. On the 80-point PTSD-Reaction Index, for example, PTSD scores for the Gyumri group that received psychotherapy dropped from an average of 44 a year and a half after the earthquake to 31 after 25 years.
PTSD scores for people from Gyumri who did not receive treatment declined as well, but not as much: from 43 at one-and-a-half years to 36 after 25 years.

Among those in attendance were Western Prelate Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian; Prelacy Vica-General Bishop Torkom Donoyan; Reverend Ardak Demirjian; Western Prelacy Executive Council Chairperson Garo Eshgian, Vice-Chair Meher DerOhannessian, and Secretary Elizabeth Boyajian; members of the Prelacy Board of Regents, Armineh Papazian, Pattyl Aposhian Kasparian, and Arlene Mouradian-Zenian; St. Mary’s Church Board Member Christine Hovnanian; representatives from the Armenian National Committee of American Glendale Chapter including Chairperson Lucy Petrosian; the Armenian Revolutionary Federation Glendale Aharonian chapter; Homenetmen Ararat Chapter Executive Board Chair, Serge Grakasian; a representative from the office of Congressman Adam Schiff; California State Senator Anthony Portantino; California Assemblymember Laura Friedman; a representative from the office of Los Angeles County Supervisor Kathryn Barger; Glendale City Council Member Vartan Gharpetian; Glendale City Clerk Ardashes Kassakhian; Glendale Community College Board of Trustee Dr. Armine Hacopian; Glendale Unified School District Board President Dr. Armina Gharpetian; the school’s founders, Mr. and Mrs. Vahik and Alice Petrossian, and Mr. and Dr. Vahe and Armine Hacopian; and of course the school’s beloved benefactors of 30 years, Ralph and Savey Tufenkian, and the Tufenkian and Kalemkiarian families.
Alumni from the school, currently in high school, greeted guests presenting them with special 45th anniversary lapel pins, and ushered them into the Oschin Pavilion where the Endeavor Space Shuttle is stationed. The awe-inspiring hangar space was adorned with large-scale architectural renderings of the prospective Tufenkian campus, as well as a partial architectural model painted by the school’s kindergarten students. A colorful art exhibition featuring framed watercolor paintings by every single one of the school’s current students, accompanied by titles chosen by the young artists, was on display for all to enjoy. Also entertaining guests were roaming photographers and a photo station featuring an astronaut carrying the Tufenkian flag, and live orchestral music. At their seats, guests received the thematic 45th Anniversary Tufenkian Album, courtesy of the artistry of Helena Grigorian, featuring a bronze keepsake bookmark, congratulatory messages to the school as well as personal salutations and memorable photos from all of the program’s donors.
Following opening remarks by the night’s Master of Ceremonies Gevik Baghdassarian, an alumnus of the school and current member of the School Board, and invocation by his Eminence Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, dinner was served while a vocalist performed jazz and Armenian standards.
Artin Shaverdian, Chair of the School Board, then introduced a film by Sevag Vrej Koundakjian, especially made to mark this milestone anniversary, highlighting the value of the school in the community and its students’ lives, the significance of the school’s emergent curriculum and its teachers and administration, as well as to describe the value of the modernization and expansion project.
Shaverdian then addressed the audience by first expressing his immense gratitude to the night’s donors, all guests, and the school’s longstanding benefactors Mr. and Mrs. Ralph and Savey Tufenkian. He also took a moment to acknowledge the unmatched dedication of the school’s faculty and staff most of whom were present.
“This campaign is rooted in history but framed for tomorrow,” he said. “It honors the vision of our founders and the promise of our children.” He appealed to the audience to continue to support the Tufenkian 2025 Project, a project which seeks to add approximately 3,200 square feet of new building area consisting of classrooms and multi-purpose rooms, and to modernize the remaining classrooms and outdoor areas to better align the school’s emergent curriculum with its campus. Mr. Shaverdian stressed that with the steadfast support of the community and the generous donors in attendance, the school was looking forward to meeting again in 2025 to mark the conclusion of the campaign, but to not forget that the “broader campaign for the idea of Tufenkian Preschool is everlasting.”
Shaverdian concluded his remarks by announcing the names and commending the great work of all those individuals who had volunteered endless hours to bring this gala celebration to fruition. He then introduced a video greeting from Congressman Adam Schiff who congratulated the school and lent support to its future successes. Official State of California proclamations were presented by State Senator Portantino and Assemblymember Laura Friedman both of whom also conveyed endearing messages of reverence for the academic institution. A special recognition was also presented by a representative from Supervisor Kathryn Barger’s office.
Baghdassarian then joined Shaverdian on stage to discuss specifics of the fundraising campaign for Tufenkian 2025. Baghdassarian implored the audience to continue on its generous path and offer long-term support to the project. Together, they launched the school’s Mobile Cause/text-to-give service which facilitates instant giving via a mobile smart phone. The excitement of the audience was palpable in the immediate stream of new donations all of which were reflected instantly on the big screen for all to see. Shaverdian and Baghdassarian then recognized three visionary donor families Mr. and Mrs. Armen and Katherine Panossian, Mr. and Mrs. Bobken and Hasmik Amirian, and Mr. and Mrs. Levik and Romina Hagobian.
The school’s Director, Arsine Aghazarian, then took the stage to acknowledge the Tufenkian family, all invited guests and dignitaries in attendance, expressing her gratitude to lifelong community supporters, alumni and parents of alumni of the school. She gave brief historical highlights from the school’s 45-year journey and called up to the stage, to receive special recognition and a gift, founding members of the school Mr. and Mrs. Vahik and Alice Petrossian, and Mr. and Dr. Vahe and Armine Hacopian, along with former school Director Dr. Ida Karayan. Rouben Gourjian, one of the founding members, was not in attendance. She thanked these valued members of the school’s family for their vision, their dedication and their continued guidance and support of the school. Gifts were presented to the aforementioned honorees by the three teachers with the longest tenure at the school Aghavni Astoor, Ani Misserlian, and Ani Hovagimian.
She continued to thank the school’s Parent Support Committee’s (PSC) Gala Committee, who under the effective leadership of Christine Zohrabians, worked resolutely to make this celebration memorable.
Aghazarian then individually acknowledged all current faculty and staff, and those who had significant roles at the school through the years. On behalf of the ANC Glendale Chapter, Chairperson Lucy Petrosian also presented recognition certificates to each teacher and staff member. Young alumni volunteers escorted those being recognized to receive commemorative gifts.
To conclude her remarks, Aghazarian shared heartwarming words about the entire Tufenkian family, specifically Mr. and Mrs. Ralph and Savey Tufenkian who have never faltered in their encouragement, support, and guidance of the school since the tragic death of their son Richard, 30 years ago. “We owe our success to our gracious and generous benefactors, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph and Savey Tufenkian, and to the extended members and relatives of the Tufenkian Family, Paul and Sandra Kalemkiarian, and Greg and Caroline Tufenkian,” Aghazarian said as she presented Mr. and Mrs. Tufenkian with gifts of appreciation.
The prelate referenced the poignancy of the project’s moniker “Building Together, Nurturing Generations.” He reflected on the significance of community support in the success of all of our diasporan endeavors and underscored the paramount value of structured early education. With much delight, the Archbishop then announced a surprise $100,000 donation from Mr. and Mrs. Ralph and Savey Tufenkian to mark this momentous occasion and in support of the Tufenkian 2025 Modernization and Expansion Project. The audience roared in excitement and the collective funds raised passed the half a million-dollar mark.
Accomplished alumna Sareen Habeshian then spoke of the positive influence of the school on her academic journey and professional career. And, to conclude the program, Max Tufenkian and Sara Cipolla, nephew and niece of the late Richard Tufenkian, both alumni of the school, paid a moving tribute to their uncle. Max described growing up with stories of his uncle with his family members always describing him as the most loving and lovable guy. Sara reminisced about her days at Tufenkian and announced her excitement at becoming a Tufenkian parent in the forthcoming academic year. Both shared their great pride in their family and their family’s immeasurable love for the school.
The evening came to a festive close by graciously donated performances by popular Armenian singers Armenchik and Super Sako. Guests parted with gifts of appreciation in the form of beautifully boxed wines donated by the Kalemkiarian family of Wine of the Month.
It is notable that this gala’s success was a direct result of the tireless work of PSC members who spared no effort to engage the community in solicitation of support for the school. “The generosity of our community’s business owners and service providers was truly heartwarming,” commented Zohrabians, “We received an overwhelming amount of in-kind donations, unimaginable discounts, and direct gifts of services and supplies. It truly helped us honor our fiduciary duty to the school. This is not just a reflection of the greatness of our school but also that of the kindness of our community.”
By the end of the evening, $535,000 was raised in support of the Tufenkian Modernization and Expansion Project. “Our community is a force to be reckoned with when it supports a worthwhile project. We are eternally grateful to every dollar donated today. We are doing all this for the kids. They are the center and goal of all of our efforts,” Baghdassarian stated.

In a message to Assad Catholicos Karekin II hails Armenian Genocide recognition
His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, has sent a letter to President of the Syrian Arab Republic Bashar al-Assad to thank him on behalf of the Armenian people for the unanimous adoption by the Syrian People’s Council of a resolution recognizing and condemning the Armenian Genocide by the Syrian People’s Council.
“The condemnation of crimes against humanity and negation of denial is a firm guarantee that new genocides and crimes against religious and ethnic discrimination can be prevented and a peaceful world can be built,” His Holiness said in the letter.
“The Syrian people today reaffirmed the commitment and determination of their ancestors, who gave shelter to the children of our nation exiled during the difficult years of the Armenian Genocide. Decades ago in the wilderness of Deir ez-Zor, during the presidency of your well-known father, Hafez al-Assad, the construction of the Holy Martyrs Church became another record of the Syrian authorities’ position on the Armenian Genocide,” the Catholicos added.
“We have repeatedly witnessed the undeserved kindness and attention of you and your people towards our people, vivid expressions of which are the Armenian sanctuaries, cultural and educational institutions, numerous testimonies of the Syrian-Armenian community’s remarkable life,” reads the letter of His Holiness.
His Holiness, expressing his support to the pious people of Syria, wished that the desired peace and tranquility in the country would be restored and the dreams of the bright life of the brotherly people overcoming difficulties come true.

No Armenian in Jerusalem can be tempted by $3,000: Armenian Patriarchate responds to Jewish Press
The Armenian Patriarchate of Jerusalem has provided clarification on the Jewish Press article titled “Turkey Working to Take Over Armenian Quarter in Jerusalem’s Old City,” in which the author first touches upon the Turkish attempt to close the Ilya Kahabadijan Museum of the Armenian Genocide.
“Ilya Kahabadijan has a photo studio where he sells paintings by his grandfather and father and it’s not a museum dedicated to the Armenian Genocide. The studio is located in the Christian district of the Old City of Jerusalem and is owned by the Greek Patriarchate of Jerusalem,” Chancellor of the Armenian Patriarchate of Jerusalem Hovnan Baghdasaryan said in a statement.
With regard to the $ 3,000 grant offered to Armenians by Turks, he noted that virtually all Armenians in Jerusalem are in a socially secure position, and the Armenian Patriarchate of Jerusalem has provided the socially disadvantaged with housing, work and food. Therefore, he said, none of the Armenians can be tempted by $3,000.
“It is important to note that no apartment has been sold in the Armenian district of Jerusalem recently. The Patriarchate of Jerusalem is the owner of both the property of both St. Jacob’s Monastery and all the properties of the Armenian Quarter,” the Chancellor said.
“Neighborhood apartments and shops are leased either on a protected tenancy or an unprotected tenancy basis. In the case of a protected lease, the tenant’s right to the property extends to three generations. In case of unsecured lease, every month the tenant pays the Patriarchate the sum agreed in the contract between the parties. The lease contract may be terminated if the tenant does not respect any part of the contract,” he further elaborated.
The tenants are mainly Armenians. The Armenian Patriarchate of Jerusalem does not sell property, he added.
The Chancellor says, however, that the article has rightly noted that there has been a recent increase in the number of Turkish tourists in Jerusalem who once tore up the posters of the Armenian Genocide on the wall of the Armenian district. The police immediately complained about the case, and no such incident ever reoccurred.
“Unfortunately, however, it should be noted that such posters have been posted for decades and have repeatedly been torn by Jews. In addition, Turks have never written on the walls of the Armenian Quarter, while a well-known group called Tag Mechir has often made such markings on the walls of both Armenian and other Christian monasteries,” Hovnan Baghdasaryan concluded.
