Entry 9: Manchester United returns to Australia
What PR activity am I analysing?
One of the biggest soccer team is the world is coming to Australia. Manchester United will be returning down under in July 2022 and they will be bringing the one of the most famous athlete in the world, Christiano Ronaldo. They will first be playing against our top A-League team, Melbourne Victory. This game will take place at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on the 15th of July. Then the famous team will then play another EPL team, Crystal Palace at the MCG on the 19th of July.

Who is leading the campaign and who is involved?
Manchester United, Crystal Palace and Melbourne Victory are the clubs involved with this event and is being lead by them.
What are the major PR tools being used
Manchester United first announced they were coming down under for the pre season on the twitter account. They posted a video that had Man United playing on the MCG back in 1999. Then their was a post made on there Instagram account about the trip down under. There instagram page has 58.2 million followers which means there would’ve been alot of engagement on there post when they were promoting coming to Australia and playing Melbourne Victory. It gives the Australian team more exposure. Another tactic used was having Ronaldo front and centre of the post. Melbourne Victory also posted the news on there social platforms and ran a press conference with former Manchester United player, Dwight Yorke to announce the event.

Where I saw it and if/how I engaged with it
I first saw the news on Facebook, which was posted by Channel 7. There cover photo of the post was an image of Ronaldo. I straight away clicked on it because his one of the most famous athletes in the world so I wanted to get all details. By having Ronaldo front and centre of the post it made me engage with the post.
Critical reflection
I think the information provided by each club was very sufficient and straight to the point. The key messages that were given were received and understood by the audience and this is known because most tickets to the games are sold out. It would've been more appealing if there were more videos or a competition done by Melbourne Victory to hand out some tickets but other than that, it was exciting news for the whole Australia.

#Influencer #Ranking places Christiano Ronaldo as No. 1 as most valuable and expensive content creator When Ronaldo moved 2 bottles of Coca-Cola out of sight during a #press #conference, $4 billion was wiped off the soft drink giant's market value - demonstrating the power he and celebrities like him have. According to analysis by social media platform Hopper HQ and Statista - thanks to Martin Armstrong, the megastar earns the most of any other Instagram #influencer per sponsored post with an average of $1.6 million every time. Having some 2,000 followers of Instagram, I still have a mile to go before getting there ;-) What about you? The EA Press Conference - A summary.
-Battlefield V aka the blandest Trailer I have ever seen that is set in a WW2 setting, looking really pretty tho -FIFA 19 feat all the copyrights Konami doesn't give a shit about anymore and Christiano Ronaldo (Messi is shaking) -MORE STREAMING SERVICES bc that is what the world needed. and only 41.99$ per year! Happy that that won't sum up with all the other billion streaming services I am already subscribed to! -Unravel 2 is now added to the list of intriguing games that will get boring after ten minutes -EA admitting they fucked up with Battlefront 2, now trying to make everything better by adding Ewoks, General Grievous, and new skins. it seems to work -GERMAN GAME DEVELOPERS!!! I am so gonna buy Sea of Solitude even tho the poor woman took years to introduce it. Love it 10/10 -NBA 19, aka unpopular FIFA -Madden 18, aka American FIFA. Also, take a shot for every sports game EA presents. -Command and Conquer but on your phone. ugh. -The audience cheering whenever they say there are no loot boxes involved -Anthem. the trailer could have easily been destiny or literally any other shooter. Pretends to have an open world but probably doesn't. Also, first gameplay trailer and it still looks pretty but still seems boring. -The fact that Sony and Microsoft always seem to take turns with exclusively releasing EA games on their consoles -no Mirror's Edge

Coca Cola Stock Drops $4b After Prominent Soccer Player Removes Coke During Press Conference
Coca Cola Stock Drops $4b After Prominent Soccer Player Removes Coke During Press Conference
Portuguese winger Christiano Ronaldo is a world famous soccer superstar, with many considering him to be the best player in the world. Thus, even small gestures done by him can have immense implications even when he is off the field. At a press conference prior to his team’s game with Hungary at Euro 2020 being played at present in Europe, Ronaldo spotted two bottles of Coca Cola on the table in…

We’ve kicked off E3 2017 with huge announcements from EA. Battlefield 1 is getting new maps, Russians, Night maps and plenty of new content.
The introduction of this Battlefield segment was a montage of BF1 streams which showed the delight had by streamers, reminding me, I very much need to re-install it.
Night Maps – coming this summer.
June 2017 will see the Nivelle Nights map released and July 2017 will follow with Prise De Tahure.
Following these new maps in September is the In the Name of the Tsar expansion. Set in the blistering winter of the east. In The Name of the Tsar features 6 new maps, the Russian army, new vehicles and weapons and the iconic Women’s Battalion of Death. All new specialisations and new operations modes. What we make of it is there’s snow, lots and lots of snow.
More BF1 announcements in August at Germany’s Gamescom.
Fifa 18 was shown. It looks… FIFA-y. Christiano Ronaldo was shown in a motion capture suit and two presenters got overly excited. No Nintendo Switch FIFA, I wonder why…
Need for Speed Payback was up next. We’d seen a lot of the footage before, what really stood out from this segment was how terrible the voice acting is and how very much this game looks like one of the Fast & Furious movies. We will leave our opinions to one side for the time being, but do wonder where Burnout is – in our opinion, the far, far better franchise.
an arm of EA was up next, EA Originals, their indie division. From the creator of Brothers – A Tale of Two Sons is A WAY OUT – a co-op game, prison break stylie, a fathers mission to see his newborn. A very interesting concept.
Josef Fares director, writer and founder of Hazelight – Sweden (the studio behind A Way Out) was very excited about his game, and in all fairness, so are we. A co-op game which isn’t a drop in drop out as he puts it. Where you and a friend can embark on a journey together. Split screen story driven co-op ONLY. You can play it online, but it’s best played couch co-op – huge applause from the E3 crowd. Huge variation. Exploration, driving, action.. tonnes of atmosphere. Promises a co-op game like nothing you’ve ever seen. Super hyped Josef Fares says ‘It’s gonna kick ass‘, and we very much believe him. Josef is very passionate guy!  Coming early 2018.
Anthem Tease: More in Microsoft Press Conference tomorrow, what we have seen is what appears to be Microsoft’s attempt at Horizon Zero Dawnish escapade. It is a 4-player co-op game, apparently. People are drawing similarities with Destiny. Who knows. From Bioware, the game opens with a quote “The wall is our armor, it protects us from what lies beyond“. No gameplay shown, just an announcement. Can it be Microsoft’s savior? Way too soon to know yet, but big plans for Scorpio.
NBA Live 18 – again, more EA Sports, can’t really tell the difference from one year to the next. But, you know. There’s a market.
Madden, again… yay. Lots of focus on Scorpio optimisation. The focus mainly on the detail of the fabric… because you know… fabric rules.
Star Wars Battlefront 2 was the biggest of the EA show, with much time spent on the newly added single player mode with couch co-op, but an entire multiplayer match also shown.
The single player campaign is essentially a brand new Star Wars story, which bridges the gap between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens. Jumping into multiplayer, we’ve been promised a much, much bigger game, with three times the content of the first game.
More heroes, vehicles, planets, space battles, more content from all Star Wars eras – all DLC / content etc is free. Early access to Beta for pre-orders. November release. The multiplayer looks stunning.
#gallery-0-4 { margin: auto; } #gallery-0-4 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 33%; } #gallery-0-4 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-0-4 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */
All in all, EA gave a pretty solid opening to E3 this year, nothing earth shattering, but from those shown, we will be snapping up Star Wars Battlefront 2, A Way Out (easily the star of the show) and new content for Battlefield 1.
So that wraps up our coverage of EA at E3. Remember to subscribe to this website or hit us up on Twitter @GamesShed during E3 for more great content.

We need to talk about referees.
Everyone makes mistakes. Even individuals at the very top of their profession. Countless examples of this can be found without leaving the world of football. Lionel Messi and Christiano Ronaldo, the greatest footballers of their generation have both missed penalties on multiple occasions. Manuel Neuer has let tame shots slide under his body, and Andres Iniesta has misplaced simple five yard passes under no pressure.
So then, is it fair that football fans in England are becoming more and more frustrated, irritated and even angry towards Premiership referees for their almost weekly errors that they seem to now be making? Yes, it is. Why? Not because they are making mistakes, but because there seems to have been no improvement in the standard of refereeing for many seasons (if anything the standard has regressed), and a constant refusal to learn from their countless errors.
The root of the problem is ultimately the FA, specifically, their public actions regarding high profile criticism of referees. In the last few seasons managers being handed heavy fines for criticising referees in their pos match press conferences for the poor decisions they have made has become a regular occurrence. The FA punish managers for pointing out the sub par job the match officials are doing. Officials are sheltered with an umbrella of fines resulting in them believing that the poor job they doing is undeserving of any criticism and they have no need to improve. Improvement is actively discouraged.
To put this into an analogy, it is like if children at school get answers on a test wrong, but if the teachers tell them they got the answers wrong, they are hit with fines by the children’s parents. Eventually, the teachers will stop telling the children when they get answers wrong so as to avoid the fines, and as a result the children continue to believe that their incorrect answers are fine. No improvement is made.
Couple this with the fact that there have been no new additions to the group of referees who referee over twenty games per season and you have a group of officials who do not improve, are protected when they make blatant errors, and do not have any competition from new referees.
With spectators paying ever rising amounts for a match day ticket, and fans who watch on the television paying huge amounts for Sky and BT sports subscriptions, the FA has a duty to improve the standards of the officials in charge of the most viewed football matches on the planet.
