if I was a player I'd be taking notes as to who is throwing the toys out the pram about this. I wouldn't be trusting them with boundaries I set and I wouldn't be looking to work with them.
Exactly!!! Make a list.
Honestly, even as a fan, I'm making a list. Just for future reference, here's the reporters who are mad about the locker room boundary:
Several well known WNBA reporters: Michelle Smith, Em Adler, Nancy Armour, Chantel Jennings, Lindsay Gibbs, Mitchell Northam, Russell Steinberger, Howard Megdal, Nicole Auerbach, Brady Klopfer, Marisa Ingemi, Peter Kilkelly
And some less well known ones: Patrick Borzi, Alec Sturm, Dave DuFour, Kim Doss, Chris Bumbaca, Dylan Manfre, Tommy Beer, Jim Alexander, Darren Sabedra
And The Next published a whole thinkpiece about why they need to be in the locker rooms. Because of course they did. I'm not surprised by the names on this list. And I'm not surprised The Next is choosing this hill to die on.

Two years ago, Fethi Nourine of Algeria pulled out of the 2019 Judoka World Championships when his draw lined him up against Israeli Tohar Butbul.
History repeats itself, this time at the Tokyo Olympics.
The draw for the -73kg men's division potentially set up a matchup between the ninth-ranked Nourine and No. 6 Butbul in the second round. So Nourine, once again, withdrew from competition.
“We were not lucky with the draw. We got an Israeli opponent and that’s why we had to retire. We made the right decision,” the Israeli Times quoted Nourine’s coach Amar Ben Yaklif, according to Algerian media reports.
Butbul will now face Mohamed Abdalrasool of Sudan in his first fight.
This isn't the first time objections to facing Israeli athletes has caused controversy in international judo competition. The International Judo Federation instituted a four-year ban on Iran that will expire in 2023 after an Iranian judoka claimed he was forced to throw matches in order to not face Israeli judokas.
At the 2016 Rio Olympics, the International Olympic Committee sent Egyptian Islam El Shehaby home before the end of the Games for refusing to shake the hand of Israeli Or Sasson after Sasson, the eventual bronze medal winner, defeated Shehaby.

Vanessa Bryant Suing Helicopter Company For Hundreds Of Millions Of Dollars In Wrongful Death Lawsuit
By Noah Rubinstein, Cornell University Class of 2022
June 23, 2020
Tumblr media
On January 26, 2020, the world was stunned when former Lakers legend Kobe Bryant was killed in a helicopter crash in Southern California, along with his daughter Gianna and seven others. [1] Countless individuals, and many who did not even know Kobe but idolized him as a role model, were heartbroken. Kobe was seen by many as a role model for his behavior both on and off the court, with many stressing his exceptional work ethic and drive. Vigils were seen all over the world, and thousands of fans came together to mourn the tragic death of their role model. On February 24th, Kobe’s wife, Vanessa, is taking legal action against his death, filing a wrongful death lawsuit against the helicopter company, Island Express Helicopters. [2] Now, reports are coming out that Bryant is suing for hundreds of millions of dollars, alleging that Kobe’s future earnings would have been in this range. [3]
Bryant alleges that the pilot, Ara Zaboyan, did not properly monitor the weather, among several other concerns. The lawsuit then states that Island Express Helicopters is liable for the actions of their employee. The lawsuit claims that Zaboyan “"Failed to properly monitor and assess the weather prior to takeoff;Failed to abort the flight when he knew of the cloudy conditions;"
and "failed to properly and safely operate the helicopter resulting in a crash.”[2] The helicopter was not properly certified for the conditions that it was flown in. The lawsuit alleges that the helicopter should have been required to use instrumental flight rules in the poor visibility that the crash took place in. The helicopter was only certified for visual flight rules, which relies on very good visibility. The visibility during Kobe’s flight was less than normal. An air traffic control operator stated that Zobayan was operating under SVFR conditions, meaning that weather conditions are worse than those permitted under visual flight rules. In addition, the helicopter was not properly equipped with terrain awareness and warning system, cockpit voice recorders, and flight data recorders. [2]All three were recommended to the company, but the company neglected these recommendations.
This was not the first incident that Zaboyan had in terms of flying during low visibility. In a 2015 flight, Zaboyan was not granted access to fly to Los Angeles International Airport due to visibility below the VFR minimum, but proceeded to fly anyway. Zaboyan received a violation, however he continued to fly for Island Express Helicopters. The company claims that after the violation, Zaboyan was counseled on these types of incidents and was very receptive to the counseling. [2]
Based upon these grounds, the Bryant Family is suing Island Express Helicopters for an undisclosed amount within the range of hundreds of millions of dollars, alleging that those were Kobe’s future earnings. In addition to being constantly ranked as one of the top basketball players of all time, Kobe was also viewed as a cultural icon, having many different endorsement deals, the largest being with Nike. Bryants net worth prior to his death was estimated to be around $600 million. Bryant earned $323 million over the course of his career, leaving the other couple hundred million dollars to endorsement deals. [4]
Many top athletes have made a majority of their money after retiring, from either endorsements or investments. A main example of this is Michael Jordan, who was the first athlete to become a billionaire, due to his sneaker company Air Jordan. Jordan, who retired 16 years ago, earns $130 million in revenue every year from Air Jordan. While Kobe’s Nike line is not nearly as successful as Jordan’s, Bryant was still earning $16 million per year, with this number increasing. [4]While his family will still receive earnings from Nike, Bryant now misses out on the opportunity to make more money, whether it be from endorsement deals or even from strengthening his portfolio.
The death of Kobe Bryant was absolutely shocking, and had a large impact on many individuals and communities throughout the world. His legacy both on and off the court has made a lasting impact for generations to come, and it was extremely unfortunate that someone of his stature, along with his 13 year old daughter and 7 other individuals, were taken from us so abruptly.
