The first official photo of the J-35A was released today, ahead of its planned debut at the China International Aviation & Aerospace Exhibition, better known as Airshow China, held at Zhuhai Airport in Guangdong province, in southern China. The show opens on November 12.
The front three-quarter view of the jet, seen taxiing, reveals several new details and sheds more light on features that were previously more hidden. It also provides a very useful comparison with earlier versions of the J-35 and FC-31, as well as with rival fifth-generation fighters. (..)
Much has been made of the similarities between the J-35/FC-31 and the U.S.-made F-35 Joint Strike Fighter, fueling claims that China copied its American counterpart or at least that it made use of stolen data to directly inform the aircraft’s development(..)

Market Driver
Grave Safety Risks Posed by Conventional Landing Gear to Create New Growth Opportunities
Conventional landing gear, or tailwheels, consist of two wheels placed in a forward position relative to the center of gravity. They have been the most widely used landing gear in traditional airplanes and some older aircraft models and small airplanes still use them. However, these landing gear systems are extremely dangerous, posing grave risks to the safety of everyone aboard the aircraft. For example, tailwheel aircrafts are prone to a phenomenon known as “ground looping”, which occurs when the tail of the aircraft bypasses the center of gravity, causing the pilot to lose directional control of the plane. Being smaller in size, tires attached to tailwheel units can drop into holes in the ground and cause the propeller to trip over. To counter these disadvantages, airliners are increasingly incorporating electrically-controlled landing gear and anti-skid brake management systems to enhance reliability, accuracy, and safety of the aircraft. This shift towards next-generation technologies is auguring well for the aircraft landing gear market growth.

Expanding defense budgets of leading economies of the world will generate unprecedented opportunities for market players, highlights Fortune Business Insights™ in its report, titled “Aircraft Electrical System Market Size, Share & Industry Analysis, By Platform (Fixed-Wing and Rotary Wing), By Component (Generators, Conversion Devices, Distribution Devices, Battery Management Systems, and Others), By Application (Power Generation Management, Flight Control & Operation, Cabin System, Configuration Management, and Air Pressurization & Conditioning), By Technology (Conventional, Electric, and Others), By End User (OEM and Aftermarket) and Regional Forecast, 2023-2027”.
The electrical system of an aircraft is typically powered by one or more generators, which are driven by the aircraft's engines. These generators produce electrical power, which is then distributed to the various systems and components on the aircraft through a series of electrical buses and circuits. In addition to generators, aircraft electrical systems also include batteries, which provide backup power in the event of a generator failure. The batteries are typically charged by the generators and are designed to provide enough power to allow the aircraft to land safely in the event of an emergency.
Overall, the aircraft electrical system is a critical component of modern aircraft, and its design and operation are essential to the safety and reliability of flight.
Restraining Factor
Subdued Demand for Air Travel amid COVID-19 to Have Severe Repercussions for the Market
The COVID-19 pandemic has led to a severe downturn in the aviation industry as travel bans and fears of speeding up the spread of the virus have kept travellers away from airplanes and airports. According to a September 2020 report by the Airports Council International (ACI) World, air passenger traffic will decline by a staggering 58.4% year-on-year in 2020 because of the coronavirus. Furthermore, the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) estimates that the number of air travellers will fall by 2,893 million in 2020, and by 1,261 million in the first half of 2021. The steep dip in passenger numbers has led to a potential loss of USD 391 billion to airlines in 2020 and will lead to revenue losses between USD 148 billion and 182 billion in the January-June 2021 time period, according to the ICAO. The sudden contraction in air travel will inevitably affect airline companies’ investment plans to upgrade their fleets with modern digital technologies. Consequently, the aircraft electrical system market growth will suffer.
Regional Insights
Robust Domestic Airline Network to Fuel the North America Market
North America, with a size of USD 8.41 billion in 2019, is expected to dominate the aircraft electrical system market share during the forecast period. The principal factor propelling the regional market is the existence of a strong and reliable domestic airline network across the US and Canada. In addition, high defense spending by the US government and quick adoption of modern aircraft technologies by the US and Canadian Air Forces will also accelerate the regional market growth.
In Europe, increasing adoption of next-generation power management systems for commercial aircraft by the UK and growing preference for lightweight airplanes in the region are anticipated to boost the market. On the other hand, the market in Asia Pacific will be driven by the escalating demand for air travel in India and China and the rapid expansion of the commercial airline industry in China.
Competitive Landscape
Introduction of Advanced Aircraft Electrical Solutions to Intensify Market Competition
A prominent feature of the market for aircraft electrical systems is the development and introduction of advanced, sophisticated solutions by key players. Through this strategy, companies are strengthening their portfolios and augmenting the prospects of the aviation industry.
