Alyssa Tirrell at MMFA:
Dr. Eithan Haim, a former medical resident at Texas Children's Hospital, was indicted in May for allegedly illegally accessing trans patients’ records, which he subsequently shared with Manhattan Institute senior fellow Chris Rufo. Right-wing media figures have since defended Haim and brought him in for interviews, often equating the care allegedly provided at Texas Children's Hospital — such as the prescription of "puberty blockers" — with harm or mutilation and alleging that Haim is the target of political persecution. The campaign has successfully raised both Haim's profile and at least $888,865, which he claims will be used for both his legal defense and “offensive legal action against those who have abused their professional responsibility in service of radical transgender ideology.”
Haim allegedly illegally accessed trans patients’ records
On February 18, 2022, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton issued an opinion that qualified youth gender-affirming care as "child abuse", prompting Texas Children's Hospital to announce that it would stop proving such care. Although the opinion was not legally binding, the hospital released a statement announcing that it would stop prescribing gender-affirming hormone therapies. The statement, which also alluded to recent measures that Gov. Greg Abbott had taken against families of children receiving gender-affirming care, added that “this step was taken to safeguard our healthcare professionals and impacted families from potential legal ramifications.” [Office of the Attorney General of Texas, 2/18/22; American Civil Liberties Union, 2/23/22; The Washington Post, 3/8/22]
In late spring 2023, Dr. Eithan Haim allegedly accessed the records of trans patients at Texas Children's Hospital and shared them with Manhattan Institute senior fellow Chris Rufo. Haim, a resident at Baylor College of Medicine who had previously conducted rotations at Texas Children's Hospital, shared redacted files with Rufo that allegedly demonstrated that the hospital was continuing to provide gender-affirming services to minors. [Houston Public Media, 6/10/24; U.S. Attorney's Office, Southern District of Texas, 6/17/24; United States District Court of the Southern District of Texas, 5/29/24]
On June 2, 2023, a Texas bill restricting gender-affirming care for children was signed into law. S.B. 14 prohibited “the provision to certain children of procedures and treatments for gender transitioning, gender reassignment, or gender dysphoria” as well as “the use of public money or public assistance to provide those procedures and treatments.” The law went into effect on September 1 of that year. [Texas legislature, 6/2/23]
[...]
Right-wing media figures platformed Haim in solo interviews, where he defended himself
Since January 2024, with the revelation of his identity, Eithan Haim has appeared as a guest alongside many prominent right-wing media figures. In these interviews Haim neither claimed to have worked directly with trans patients nor disputed sharing the documents with Chris Rufo. Instead, Haim often alleged that he was being unfairly targeted and defended his case on the grounds that the care allegedly provided at Texas Children's Hospital was harmful to pediatric patients.
Right-wing media defend Dr. Eithan Haim’s HIPAA-violating ways of illegally accessing trans patients’ records while at Texas Children’s Hospital in which he shared those records with far-right anti-LGBTQ+ agitator Christopher Rufo.

This is my Kid Pirates OC, Krista. I’m not very good at drawing 😓 but I love dress-up games. “SuitU” is the name of the game I used to create my character(s).
PS, all of my One Piece OCs are Isekai’d into the One Piece Universe, just needed to say to avoid confusion.

Affiliation: Kid Pirates
Occupations: Tattoo Artist (Former), Crew Member (Current)
Origin: Detroit - Michigan (Former), Manhattan - New York
Age: 25
Birthday: September 11
Height: 5'4" (162.56 cm) *Correct me if my math is wrong
10 Extra Facts:
1. Survivor of extreme child abuse
2. Recovering from a meth addiction
3. Is extremely protective of friends and loved ones
4. Choice of Weapon is a Sledgehammer
5. In a Polyamorous Relationship with Kid and Killer
6. Had some pretty bad relationships before Kid and Killer, and struggled with insecurities because of that
7. Is a very good singer
8. Has a deep love and passion for art of all kinds
9. Is best friends with another OC of mine who is Law’s Love Interest
10. Cusses worse than Kid (and most of the crew didn’t think that was physically possible
\o/ I love her - poor thing's been through some shit O_O but that certainly makes her a good fit for the Kid Pirates.
And I LOVE isekai'd OCs - I mean canon-origin OCs are also really good (just look at my love for Maren), but I love the perspective a character from a different world can bring. One of the Reader stories I wrote has an isekai'd reader - not from Earth, but just from another world. I suppose technically that makes it a cross-over, but having that perspective was just fun to play with.
Random Quin Fact: I have a friend who has that birthday >.>
I love the facts and the details \o/ This is just great all the way around =D Thank you for sharing! (Oh man, relationship therapy with Kid and Killer actually sounds super effective. Kid's pushy enough to help get to the meat of things, and Killer's supportive and patient enough to keep the two of them from tearing the ship apart)

Aurelia Maldonado
Daughter of Tyche
Aurelia: name of Latin origin meaning "the golden one." Infused with prestige, this glittering title can be traced back to the ancient Roman surname, Aurelius.
Maldonado: nickname from a compound of mal 'badly' + donado 'given, endowed' (past participle of donar 'to give, to bestow'), or directly from Latin male donatus 'ill favored'.
Mother is Tyche and she was claimed around 10 years old.
Aurelia is seventeen, 5’6, and a hopeless simp when it comes to Clarisse La Rue.
Has been part of camp since she was around 8 years old. The satyr never made it to her in Houston, TX so her father drove her upstate.
She’s lowkey daddy’s girl. Only child syndrome. She has two aunts that helped her grandma raise her dad growing up plus they helped raise her as well.
She fought in the Battle of Manhattan, never went back to camp after that. Was deeply disturbed and horrified by the events.
Her father is making her go to therapy.
Close friends with Clarisse and has a hate/love friendship with Percy. She’s cool with Annabeth, kind of. They beef sometimes. Mostly about books.
She still keeps in close contact with Clarisse.
Weirdly allergic to watermelon, she’s very salty about that.
Omg she’s a nerd, loves D&D and plays it regularly with her friends from school.
Proud lesbian, goes to pride festivals when she can and supports businesses owned by LGBTQ, minorities, veterans, etc.
Used to work at a vegan shop, didn’t hate it. The owner was very nice.
She has tychokinesis and rarely uses it. Only during campaigns when it’s heavily needed.
Nicknamed rabbits foot at camp especially during capture the flag and Clarisse would always try to get her on her team. So sad tho, she had to stay with the Hermes cabin.
Was sought out by Chiron due to unknown circumstances brewing. Somehow found her after her father moved them. Took a lottttt of convincing, like so much. They had to stay a good week and half in Portland. Clarisse was sent from camp to actually convince her.
Very strong with archery and running. She’s a little track star.
She has a corgi named Cebby. He’s so cute.
Aurelia is very passionate about things and will fight people. She’ll throw hands. Clarisse is so proud. Let’s be real though, she will also hide behind Clarisse.
Bad habit of blindly following and not worrying until later.
Lowkey almost made a deal with Kronos at one point, she didn’t but almost did.
Oh, girly is very indecisive. It’s a problem.

— whoa! ELEANOR ASTOR MIDDLETON just stole my cab! not cool, but maybe they needed it more. they have lived in the city for THIRTY FOUR YEARS, working as a FORMER MODEL/HEIRESS and ARTIST. that can’t be easy, especially at only 40 YEARS OLD. some people say they can be a little bit ERRATIC and SENSITIVE , but I know them to be CREATIVE and COMPASSIONATE. whatever. I guess I’ll catch the next cab. hope they like the ride back to MANHATTAN!
triggers: death, adoption, mental illness, hospitalization
eleanor was born to a single mother. she was never planned and was indeed a strain on the household. her mother hid her pregnancy with her until she went into labor and told her parents. it was a disaster and continued to be when el was born. none of it was her fault but her mother was already suffering from mental illness, something that wasn’t helped by the judgemental people around her. then suddenly, the woman was gone in an accident - eleanor's own family didn't want her. she would scream for her mother, for anyone but they wouldn't come.
at the age of five, she was adopted by the daughter of edward astor middleton, a known billionaire . money prevailed in getting the woman what she wanted, a child when she was a single and vile person that would say and do anything to get one. when unable to conceive herself, she looked towards adoption and the process was much quicker taking a five year old, plus, she skipped out baby night feeding so it was of no concern to her.
it took her a while to get settled but with edward’s help, eleanor managed. she always felt a bit out of place with her peers; she didn’t catch onto jokes that fast nor did she necessarily care about designer things or status. she was labelled as odd and that’s how it stayed. she loved singing, mainly to herself and also art. that was her happy place along with being with people - even if they didn’t understand her, she still found the positives to enjoy it. her grandfather was very supportive with whatever she wanted but she never once asked for anything apart from ‘dinners and dance parties’. in the absence of her mother's caring, edward was the one to make her feel like she was exactly where she needed to be, even be quick to put her into therapy, not because she was broken but because she needed that external support where she could be honest. el was always grateful, always reminded that she got lucky with the life by her mother and edward took that pressure off. the whole world probably had some opinion on the billionaire but he was perfect to her.
when she was in her teen years, she worked as a model for her mother’s cosmetic company. without realising it, el was responsible for her mother’s success because it made the woman branch out into new foundation shades - it wasn’t perfect but it was a step in the right direction and her mother was applauded whilst felicity became the face of the entire company - not just the face but the name of astoria cosmetics. you couldn’t go anywhere without seeing her face. it did cause controversy with her being young, as well as eleanor receiving hate for how she looked but it got people talking. opportunities arose from this - her mother's friends inviting her to model in their shows despite being a little shorter than the runway model.
it was a lot of pressure to put on her but she was agreeable in nature and never wanted to upset her mother so never said anything. she fell into her art work as a way to process emotions and things she cared about . through connections, she did manage to get a place at nyu but she’d crumble and pull out only a few months in. it was mainly sitting in her studio, headphones on being in a completely different world while she created and that was and continues to be her happy place.
the news that her grandfather was ill and he wasn’t going to get better hit eleanor the hardest. he was the one person who she felt understood her, the one that tied her to a lot of things and made her feel loved. impulsive and intense behaviour came from her during this time, that was in her second month at university. living in denial was a hard place to be as her mental health deteriorated quickly - el's mother wasn’t the talkative type and every time she tried to accept reality and try to talk about her feelings with the woman, she’d be shut down and thrown into a schedule. she’d dropped out and hadn’t told her mother - being dishonest was not her thing...
she had a breakdown at a photoshoot. the photographer was quick to intervene and attempted to comfort her until they could get her somewhere safe. a day after, she was hospitalised but her mother wanted to get her out quickly to 'salvage their reputation'. the entire ordeal upset her.. it was just her and her mother and although she felt broken, she needed to be there to comfort her mom because she could see that the woman was struggling - it was hindering them both that she still didn’t want to talk about it.
the reading of edward middleton’s will was a big event. eleanor wasn’t expecting to get anything as he’d given her more than enough love to make up for the lack in her life. it was a great surprise to everyone, including her, when edward left everything to her. overwhelmed didn’t even cover it. his savings, current bank account, shares in his company, property... everything. she was so confused as to why and did feel sorry for her mother but she didn’t even have time to think about what she wanted to do with the billions (tabloids will say millions which is half-true because they underestimate the situation) before the woman that she called mother would be filing to court to try get it revoked and passed to her.
eleanor did not want to fight with her mother. the woman didn’t even tell her about it, a lawyer made her aware that her mother wanted to take it from her and was bringing her sanity into question. despite her mental illness, the ordeal was ruled in her favour but winning against her own mother didn't feel like a win at all. she'd dropped out of university but had the luxury of focusing on her artwork as she had the privilege to do so. all it took was one person to come into her studio and the rest was history. eleanor was always humble, never flaunting her wealth in people's face (not for the most part, anyways). when she did, it was because she wasn't that self aware to recognise she was doing it.
she managed to keep herself steady for a while. her medication and therapy was working, she felt comfortable, her artwork was being admired and sold for $$$$$$$$ - she was happy, right? she felt like she had gone from someone that was easily satisfied to never being satisfied. it was then when she found someone she'd call her best friend. the two were very different but got on really well - eleanor felt safe, like they wouldn't judge her and when she had a bad day, they'd always find a way to cheer her up and if they couldn't, they'd make sure to sit with her in her penthouse to make sure she wasn't alone. it was at the point where she felt relaxed when she was looking into becoming a mental health advocate, particularly in schools.
however, pressures would get to her - with deadlines, her attempting to try have a hand in her grandfather's company from a legacy... everything seemed so stressful and then it felt so threatening. it was a long time coming but she sold the majority of her shares in her grandfather's company (she still owns 30% but is more a nepo figure than actually having to do anything). however, it didn't feel like a weight had been lifted - her grandfather would be so disappointed with her. she just wasn't up to - she was flighty, unreliable, a people-pleaser and whilst he'd always encouraged being kind, there was a point where she needed to stop letting people walk all over her.
it was her inability to deal with her therapist leaving that caused another break. people in her circles were ignoring it but not maliciously, they were just unaware of her circumstances. 'eleanor and her stories, she does let that brain of hers run wild sometimes' or just a simple scoff and shrug of the shoulders before 'artists...' was mumbled. it didn't help that her therapist moved to another country , still trying to call the woman when she shouldn't have been and that she was having trouble finding another good fit - she didn't know what she found so off-putting but it didn't feel like anything was working with anyone. her old therapist had left a plan for her but with the professional breakdown, it left her vulnerable. all of a sudden, everyone in her life felt so distant. there was somewhat of an incident at the metropolitan museum of art - the security suspected that she was on something. it was her doorman that took her to the emergency room and that lead to multiple referrals being made for her as well as her being admitted.
eleanor did spend a few months in hospital and then gradually started to appear again. it is disappointing to her - she worked so hard, was even talking about giving back due to her wealthy position but how could she even try to talk to people that were already a million miles away when she was missing her own foundations? she'd like to get back into it, to actually see it through but she first needs to be able to trust herself again. she's doing less pieces but she's trying to finish some off and she's started back running again because it really does clear her head and make her think about nothing.
little facts:
was born in england and split her time between london and nyc when growing up - her accent is primarily british but she does have an american twang on particular words/phrases/sounds.
she’s not bothered about designer labels. if it’s pretty, she’ll buy it, whether it’s from chanel or a charity shop, it doesn’t matter to her.
tries to be positive to everyone and everything but it makes her feel good. she is naive when it comes to trusting people but wants to be loved so is ultimately a people pleaser.
cries very easily - if she’s happy, sad or scared, she’ll be crying. el also very much wears her heart on her sleeve!
was labelled as ‘kooky’ pretty early on but doesn’t really mind. she does try to fit in but it never ends up being how she imagined. she's diagnosed with schizophrenia. it's not that she hides it, just doesn't feel the need to mention it most of the time.
has drunk since she was a teen and still doesn’t know her limits :)
she is messy, both in organising and behaviour.
either cant sleep so she decides to scrap book while listening to music at three am or she does nothing but sleep.
white cotton poplin is her staple in outfits, whether it be a dress or shirt!
has taken up yoga for the first time and she thinks she's terrible at it - not flexible and unbalanced but she does run a lot when she needs to clear her head and will say it's better to do that here than across the country on a treadmill.
she says she isn't a runner but is very good at it.
loves to wear suits and blazers! messes her hair up within 3 mins of leaving the house.
sold her mother a part share in the company (didn't give it to her for free after she tried to sue her). she's still very hurt about how the woman treated her but does want to mend the relationship somehow.
she's recently been giving a plant as a gift to help her focus and look after something (part of her self-care) but she's really bad at keeping green things alive - she's really trying though.
is incredibly loyal and loving but doesn’t try to ask too many questions. her personality can sometimes be imposing as it is.
sometimes labelled the 'worst dressed' at events - she doesn't pay attention too much.
is trying to act like nothing is happening so is over-compensating with her chirpy personality.
it's scaring her that, despite being a billionnaire, she's struggling to find a therapist. eleanor is privileged, she's aware of it so it has got her thinking about outside of her bubble - what would have happened if she couldn't even afford treatment?
likes all types of music
her fave colours are blue, green, purple and red but not together

Dream Therapy (one-shot)
Fandom: Marvel Cinematic Universe, Thor (Movies), The Avengers (Marvel Movies), Loki (TV 2021) Rating: Not Rated Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Characters: Erik Selvig, Loki (Marvel), Jane Foster (Marvel) Additional Tags: Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder - PTSD, Emotional Hurt/Comfort
Summary: Dr. Erik Selvig struggles to recover from having a god in his head. A strange dream helps him see things in a new light.
“In related news, a lawsuit has been filed by New York contractors who argue that no-bid contracts are being granted to a small number of well-connected real estate developers, following the large-scale destruction of parts of Manhattan during the alien attacks two years ago.”
Dr. Erik Selvig switched off the television.
Two years. Selvig wanted nothing more than to forget the entire thing, especially his own part in it. My unwilling part in it, he reminded himself.
He’d had two years of therapy, medications, meditation, and trying to lose himself in his work. He was better than he had been when he was arrested for running around Stonehenge sans clothing. He could at least stand to wear clothing now, but he still found it difficult to focus with his trousers on. It felt too restrictive, reminding him uncomfortably of the sensation of being totally controlled.
There was no recognized diagnosis for “possession by malevolent deity”, so they were officially treating him for PTSD. Some of it helped, much of it didn’t. He felt more himself these days, but the nights were bad. In his dreams, Loki was still there. Still threatening. Still taunting him.
As a child listening to the old myths of his homeland, he’d loved the stories about Loki, the God of Mischief. He’d been tickled by the idea that there was actually a god for that. Now, just the mention of that name could bring on flashbacks to a time when he’d been utterly consumed by Loki’s blind ambition and disregard for human life, unable to think for himself and enslaved, body and mind, to Loki’s “glorious purpose”.
He sighed and turned back to his work. He’d been at the same problem for months, trying to account for discrepancies between the standard model of quantum mechanics and the observed behavior of Einstein-Rosen bridges. His friend and former student, Jane Foster, had provided some valuable insights, but he still couldn’t make all the pieces fit.
I’m too tired for this. He shut his laptop and went through his evening routine. He took his medication, including sleeping pills, and hoped this would be one of the good nights.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
“How is your work coming along, Dr. Selvig?” Loki asked.
Selvig looked up from the graph on his computer monitor. What had he been working on, exactly? He didn’t know, but it was important. Very important.
“I…it’s…coming along,” he stammered. “Just, um, running some simulations.”
Loki glanced at the monitor. Instead of a complicated graph, it now showed a cartoon in which Garfield was taunting Odi.
“I suspect your heart isn’t in it, Doctor,” Loki replied in that quietly menacing tone he so often used. He raised his scepter. “Perhaps we need to ensure that your loyalty is still paramount?”
Selvig jerked out of the chair and backed away. “No! That’s not necessary. Really!”
Loki advanced toward him. “Oh, but I think it is.”
Selvig ran out of the room and into an endless hallway. He looked back, but Loki wasn’t there. He turned to see where he was going, and there was Loki, ahead of him, grinning maliciously. He ran the other way and back through the door, but now he was outside. It was dark, and he was in a nondescript alley. He kept running, turning a corner only to find himself at a dead end. He whirled around to find Loki advancing slowly toward him with the scepter.
“No! Please, not again!” Selvig pleaded.
Loki took another step toward him, then froze. Confused, Selvig waited for the inevitable, but Loki still didn’t move. The god was as still as a statue of himself.
“What’s happening?” Selvig asked.
“Dr. Selvig.” It was Loki’s voice, but his lips didn’t move and the voice seemed to be coming from…everywhere.
“What…what is this?”
“You’re safe, Dr. Selvig,” the voice said. It sounded surprisingly gentle. “This isn’t real. Just a dream. A nightmare.”
“Is this a trick?”
“No. Well, yes, actually. Your mind is playing tricks on you. But it’s your mind, Dr. Selvig. Nobody is controlling it now. You are free — and always will be, if I have anything to say about it.”
“I don’t understand.”
“Please look at my eyes, Dr. Selvig. What do you see?”
Selvig looked at Loki. In his eyes, he saw the malevolence, anger, and fierce determination that he remembered. “I see…fury.”
“And behind that fury?”
Selvig stepped just a bit closer, staring at the still-unmoving Loki, for the first time trying to really see him.
“I see…” he stopped, afraid to give voice to what he thought he saw.
“Go ahead. It’s alright.”
“I see…fear?”
“Yes, Dr. Selvig. Fear, and self-loathing. I was terrified — and I used intimidation to hide it, trying to make everyone around me more afraid than I was. I tormented those weaker than I was, to cover my own weakness. I wanted to rule by force and by fear, because I thought I was unworthy of true respect.”
On some level, Selvig understood that he was dreaming— but for some reason that realization wasn’t causing him to wake up as it normally would. The dream still seemed real to him.
“Why are you telling me this? Or…am I telling myself this?”
“It doesn’t matter. What matters is that it’s true and that you know it’s true. What I did to you was unforgivable. You’re a decent man, Dr. Selvig. None of it was your fault. Not even a god can withstand the power of the mind stone. Even so, you managed to sneak in an off-switch for the Tesseract’s force field while under my control. That’s a testament to your unusual strength of character and of mind. I underestimated you.”
“How do I make this stop, then?”
“That’s up to you, Doctor. Do whatever makes sense. If you want to hit me, hit me. Or vent your own rage in some other way. Here and now, you are the strong one.”
Selvig stood before Loki, hands balling into fists, feeling his own anger rising to replace the fear. Loki’s body remained frozen, but his eyes were now tracking Selvig’s every move. The urge to pummel him was overwhelming — but now that he’d seen the growing fear in Loki’s eyes, he couldn’t help but feel just a tiny bit sorry for him.
He took a step back. “No.”
“No?”
“I don’t need to hit you. That’s what you’d do, but it’s not me. Just…get out. Leave me alone and don’t come back.”
Loki simply faded away, leaving Selvig standing alone in the alley, which soon began to fade as well. Selvig felt himself floating, feeling more at peace with himself than he had in a long time. He was floating in a bed of seaweed — no, not seaweed; the long, thin strands that cradled him with warmth were glowing with a soft, greenish light, rocking him gently and lulling him into a more peaceful slumber.
He didn’t even startle when he heard Loki’s voice once more.
“One more thing, Dr. Selvig. In the morning, you may want to take a closer look at the rate of decay of particles entering the Einstein-Rosen bridge. I think you may find it interesting.”
-----------------------------------------------------------------
“Erik, hi! How are you doing?” Jane Foster always started their phone conversations that way these days.
“I’m doing great! Listen, I just sent you a rather long document, but the short version is…I think I’ve cracked it! I found a way to square the Einstein-Rosen bridge with the standard model!”
“Seriously? That’s huge! I’ll check it out as soon as I can! What turned it around?”
“I looked at the rate of decay of particles entering the stream.”
“Woah! I didn’t even consider that. What made you think of it?”
“Would you believe it came to me in a dream?”

Stone's Background
Trigger Warnings: Mentions of child abuse, child neglect, a form of self-harm.
This is a classified U.S. Navy file for Chief Hospital Corpsman Vikram Bharat Mishra, or "Stone" as he's more commonly known. (NOTE: This is for an OC and is fictional. There are also military inaccuracies)
Family:
Suraj Mishra (grandfather, alive but no contact with Stone)
Bharat Mishra (father, alive but no contact with Stone)
Rahul Mishra (uncle, alive but no contact with Stone)
Indira Mishra (aunt, alive but no contact with Stone)
Naveen Mishra (uncle, alive but no contact with Stone)
Aarna Mishra (step-mother, alive but no contact with Stone)
Saira Joshi-Kaur (mother, alive but no contact with Stone)
Dinesh Kaur (step-father, deceased)
Mahika Joshi-Kaur (half-sister, alive but no contact with Stone)
Arya Joshi-Kaur (half-sister, alive but no contact with Stone)
Manish Joshi-Kaur (half-brother, deceased)
Mohandas Mishra (half-brother, alive but no contact with Stone)
Civilian Life (1989-2007): Stone was born on November 29th, 1989 to Bharat Mishra and Saira Joshi-Kaur (who was at that time Saira Mishra) in Manhattan, New York. His father, Bharat, was a former U.S. Marine and had been one of the best snipers at the time before being medically discharged due to how cold and stoic he had grown during his time in the Marines. His mother, Saira, left when he was three, unable to deal with Bharat's behavior, leaving Stone in Bharat's care. From that moment on, Stone was trained to be what Bharat called the perfect soldier, raised to be cold and stoic like Bharat.
He held guns, knives, and explosives at an early age, reading military books and procedures as his education. When his father wasn't training him, Stone was locked inside his room with the only thing to do was to stare at the four walls. When he was sixteen, his father went to therapy and fell in love with a woman, Aarna. She quickly grew pregnant and they were planning on marrying, but Bharat didn't want Stone to be a part of the family, so he kicked him out and put him on a train to find his mother. Stone rode the train all the way to North Carolina, where his mother lived, but he had no clue how to find her, so he lived on the streets.
He tried enlisting to the U.S. Navy when he was seventeen, but due to the fact that he had no proper education, he was denied. The U.S. Navy did see potential in him, so they paid for a program which allowed him to get an education, not needing too much since he had learned some things from his father. When he was eighteen, the U.S. Navy accepted his enlistment.
Military Life (2007-Present Day): Stone was a force of nature in boot camp, since he had prior training thanks to his father. He surpassed his fellow Seamen and thus he spent most of his time studying for his college degree so he could become a Corpsman. When his boot camp was over, he did the training to be a Corpsman. He spent some time on U.S. Naval ships as a Corpsman before making the switch to becoming a Fleet Marine Force (FMF) Corpsman and going to Field Medical School and FMF training.
Once he was a FMF Corpsman, he got his old battle scars. During his earlier years, he used to think he was expendable because he had no family, unlike the majority of his fellow soldiers. So he dove in front of the other soldiers, taking what would be their injuries. Most of his medical expertise during those years came from patching himself up mid-battle. He went to therapy and stopped diving in front of bullets, but he was still cold and stoic, which is why he gets bounced around from Marine squad to Marine squad.
He is currently being lent to the SAS Task Force 141, as a gesture of goodwill between the U.S. and the UK. He is the 141's field medic and due to his rank of being Chief Hospital Corpsman, he also helps run the base's hospital.

Way’s He Says I Love You-Webgott
Summary: David writes about Joes love language.
WC: 1,830.
C/W: None?
Link To My Masterlist!
He loves me, I know he does but he won't say I love you the way I'd say it to him.
The way I'd say it to Joe is a simple, "I love you." Or "You look nice today, is that a new shirt?"
But with Joe it was never that simple, hell when I met him I swore he hated me.
When Joe wasn't cutting hair at his mom's salon or driving a cab for his uncle's company he was doing art of some kind.
Since Joe could hold a pencil he was doodling and drawing. As he grew up he became more and more talented.
Art class was his only escape as a child, I'd heard from his parents and friends when he was young he had trouble making friends.
Mrs. Liebgott was quick to stick him in therapy, Joe the first born of five.
In therapy Joe barely talked but spent most of his time drawing. She took his drawings and began to read his emotions that way.
As his childhood went on his art skills advanced colored pencils and markers turned into acrylic paint and watercolor. Stick figures turned into actual people. The sun in the corner turned to shading. Printer paper turned to canvas.
His mother still has his childhood art hung up around her house.
I personally met my bitter half my Junior year of high school. My parents moved us from a penthouse in Manhattan to a far too large house for three in Frisco'.
I transferred high schools and just wanted to push through.
I met Joe in my math class, he was passing notes with a boy across the room conveniently also named Joe.
The math teacher was a hard ass with no will to help a child but to rather get a paycheck.
Mr. Sobel will forever be the bane of my existence; However, one day while the two Joes tossed a crumpled paper ball across the room. It landed on my desk on accident the moment Sobel turned around.
"What was that?" the tall man got defensive, "Whose passing notes? David, what's that in your lap?"
The lengthy man stormed across the room to my desk holding out his hand.
"Sir, it's just a book. I'm sorry I wasn't paying attention." I held up the book I was in fact reading instead of listening to him drone on.
"Put it away. Mr. Toye? Mr. Liebgott would you know anything about a paper ball being thrown across my classroom." Sobel crossed his arms and tapped his foot. I looked between the lengthy skinny boy with a septum and the Pureto Rican boy with the lip ring and a Twilight hoodie.
"Nope," Twilight hoodie popped his P.
"Not a damn thing, Sobel." Septum piercing crossed his arms leaning back in his chair.
"Language Liebgott," Sobel warned, "You hear me, no passing notes. I will know."
The man then turned back to the board writing down and drowning on circular circumferences.
That's when my life changed forever, I unwadded the ball. It had some messy handwriting about how boring Sobel was and a far too realistic quick sketch of Sobel sucking a dick.
I glanced at who I knew was Joe Liebgott. His eyes were narrowed and his eyebrows furrowed as he watched me with the sheet of paper.
"Now," he mouthed with his hand extended for the note. I glanced at the other Joe as he played with his black lip ring with his tongue watching me and nodded to the other Joe. Sobel had his back turned and I shakily stood up and walked to the back of class and handed it to Joe Liebgott. He snatched it from my hand and shoved it in his jean pocket.
"What're you doing out of your seat Webster?" Sobel spoke up now facing the class.
"Joe dropped his pen. I was just giving it back to him. I'm sorry sir," I hurried back to my seat and tried to pay attention to the rest of his class.
At the end of class on my way out Joe Liebgott grabbed my backpack tugging me back, "Hey Web or whatever the fuck your name is. Don't go fuckin' snooping through other peoples shit...Don't ever think about rattin' on us either." Lieb barked
"Lieb, give him a break, he's new, sorry about him." Joe came over to the two standing there.
"I got my eyes on ya Web." Lieb pointed at him as the other Joe pulled him away down the wall.
Somehow two months later we were dating and I couldn't function without his constant attention.
I quickly learned Joe was the most artistic person I'd ever met. Almost everyday Joe wore a leather jacket with an assortment of band patches and other patches on it. Turns out he had painted and sewed all of his patches on.
He'd also draw me doodles on everything, napkins, random paper, he painted me for one of his AP Art assignments. It was displayed in our high school for the rest of the year.
Something you've probably learned now is art and gifts is how he says I love you to me.
Sometimes I'll go back to an old book and pressed flowers would fall out that he had forgotten about. A few times he would draw scenes in pen on the pages.
Joe draws and paints it's how he shows his love. He only spoke those three words to me a handful of times. He would rarely let his emotions out for others to hear or see.
I think I can only recall a handful of times he was emotionally transparent with me.
Throughout high school Joe went to therapy and all kinds of psychologists because of having anger problems and an assortment of mental health problems.
Joe had, had a bad day. His Bubbe passed away the week prior, god Joe loved her so much.
She was only 6 when the Holocaust and WWII began. Her family avoided getting hauled off to a work camp until it happened.
Once she survived to the end of the war she was orphaned.
Adopted by a Jewish US solider and his wife they brought her back to Frisco' where she was raised sticking to her roots.
Bubbe had a thick Austrian accent and David loved to listen to her talk for the short amount of time he knew her.
There was nothing more that Joe loved than was spending time with his Great grandmother. Every Wednesday Joe would go to her house and have tea together and bitch about life.
But she had passed from old age and Joe was heart broken.
Joe didn't process emotions well, when things were tough he would get self destructive and mean. He would shut everyone out, his art would turn into cooler shades or just black pen or charcoal.
I began noticing how his art and color theory reflected his emotions.
That day I couldn't get ahold of him, he had left school early to go to therapy.
I had called him more than 15 times. I needed to see him because I knew he needed to not be alone.
I drove my car out to where he went when he wanted to be alone or where he'd take me sometimes. It was a Rocky look out over the San Francisco Bay. We liked to listen to the sound of the waves hitting the rocks. I parked my car next to his beat up old Impala and climbed out of my car. Joe sat at the lookout his legs hanging over the edge resting his head on the lower bar. He nursed a cigarette in his hand.
I'd been trying to get Joe to quit but it was his unhealthy coping.
"How'd you know I was here," Joe spoke just above a whisper as he brought the cigarette back to his mouth and took a long in hale leaving it to dangle between his lips.
"Your mom said you'd probably be here," I sighed walking over and sitting next to him.
"Why're you here?" He flicked the cigarette off the edge watching it fall into the water before reaching for another one out of his pack sitting next to him.
I let him have it I wasn't gonna fight him on this tonight. He brought it to his lips and lit it setting his lighter back down.
"You shouldn't be alone. I don't want you to be alone." I spoke quietly staring out into the ocean.
"I wanna be alone," Joe grunted and took another long drag.
"I don't care," I dead panned. Joe had issues with his BPD pretty much his whole life on top of having manic depression.
A period of time went on both of us staring out into the ocean, Joe chain smoking, a broken sob broke their silence.
"Fuck. I cant believe she's gone." Joe sniffed letting his head fall into his hands as he wiped his eyes.
"I'm really sorry liebling," I sighed. Me and Joe only ever called each other pet names in German.
"It's fine, it's fine." Joe sighed rubbing his tears away and trying to hold back sobs, "She just meant everything to me I didn't think she could actually die."
I staid silent I just wanted him to let it all out.
"I don't know who to go to. I just feel like she was the only one who I could talk to besides you but she's always been there for me." Joe sniffed.
"I'm really sorry," I moved next to him and rested my hand on his thigh.
"Here let's get you home it's freezing out here." I stood up helping him up.
The other time Joe showed real genuine human emotion was on our wedding day. But it doesn't happen often but I treasure the moments that it does happen.
I love the ways Joe says I love you to me. It's almost like our special connection, I won't forget how proud Joe was when he bought a tattoo machine off of Amazonand tattooed 'DW' on his collarbone.
Joe would often show his I love yous through tattoos on himself for me.
He had gotten the title of my favorite poem by Walt Whitman tattooed on his ribs.
When it comes to the end of the day I couldn't say enough I love you's to Joe to feel how much I really did love him.
I loved every part of him, his fluffy chocolate brown hair, his deep brown eyes, the way he'd kept his septum in since high school, and his soft, pale skin. I loved to just lay and be in his presence.
To just feel him pressed up against me and the soft kisses he'd leave behind my ear.
We'd be together and love each other in the strange way we showed it till death did us part and we'd meet again in the stars.

Behind the Scenes of Someone with Severe Anxiety and Depression
Sarah Maroun, a New York City College Student, Talks About her Mental Illness and its Effects on her Life.
By- Calley-Raye McCourt
Sarah Maroun, a 19-year-old sophomore at Marymount Manhattan College, opens up about her struggles with Anxiety and Depression.
"I would go through phases where I, like, just couldn't do anything, and no one really knew why, and I didn't really know why, and I also grew up, like, always feeling guilty or like something horrible would happen, and I thought it was normal and, like, just a part of me thought these things were just part of life. And then obviously they weren't, but it was, it was difficult to function, and like it was hard to be a fully functional child dealing with that all the time."
Sarah was diagnosed with Severe Anxiety and Depression when she was 15 years old. When asked how she felt about this diagnosis, Sarah was relieved, "I was relieved at first, because I was I didn't feel like completely alone in the subject, because she told me, or my therapist at the time told me, that it was common and, you know, there's ways to push through it, but I was relieved.
With her illness, Sarah sometimes finds it hard to get out of bed in the morning and leave.
Although Sarah tends not to talk to anyone about her struggles, there is one friend of hers that she confides in, her roommate Leo.
When asked if her illness has ever affected a relationship of hers, Sarah agreed and said that because of her illness, she tends to step back from the relationship, "I get in my head about it, and then I completely shut down on the person."
Sarah spends most of her time on the go. Almost every day she spends in class, and when she isn't, she is working at her job.
I asked Sarah if there are any outlets or hobbies she does to help her, and she agreed with one thing in particular, "I do try and write; I think just writing it down to get it out."
''Sometimes I get so scared to go to school to see someone who did something really bad to me, and it still affects me, and it's probably my main aggressor," Sarah says when asked if her anxiety affects her schooling.
"I'm outward with the things I do, with people I know and trust. But it was, it felt very isolating to be friends with them, I think, because we just weren't compatible personalities, and it was like, I'm the only one who has this anxiety, and every time I'd like act, anxious, I'd be like a scary ass bitch," Sarah explains to me how isolated this illness has made her feel.
Sarah keeps her most personal objects and items on this shelf in her room.
"Fuck it. I'll call out of work. I can't, if I, like, can't get out of my bed and function and, like, do things properly with my brain in the right space, like I can't do anything. I'll go outside, and I'll be like, everyone is looking at me, and I need to get inside, and I'll have a full-blown panic attack."
This little stuffed moon is one of the items that brings Sarah the most comfort.
When Sarah can't go outside, she sometimes finds comfort on her balcony.
"I understand that not everyone thinks the way I think. And it took me a long time to come to this conclusion."
Sarah doesn't use medications other than her hydroxyzine, which is a medicine given to those with anxiety, but she does find smoking to be something that helps with her anxiety, "I just smoke a lot because it sometimes clears my mind."
"People will, like, call me crazy or just like, she's just a crazy bitch," Sarah tells me what happens to her sometimes when she is open about her illness with ignorant people.
Sarah started therapy when she was 15. She no longer goes, but she told me a great resource for someone looking for therapy is Marymount's Counseling and Wellness Center.
"Get used to it. Even when you're on meds, it shines through," Sarah says when asked what she would tell someone with her illness.

When You're Self-Employed, Determining Maternity Leave Is a Double-Edged Sword
It's no secret that being a working mother in the United States is difficult. And while most maternity leave policies tend to be pretty straightforward, albeit inadequate, when you're self-employed, it becomes a choose-your-own-adventure situation, and freedom can be a double-edged sword: the flexibility of designing your own leave helps tremendously, but figuring out how to get paid and actually take time off requires planning, support, and research. The length of one's parental leave typically depends on the coverage provided by an employer, in line with state requirements. Self-employed expecting parents get to determine their own leaves, but this can mean they also forgo some additional protections, like a guaranteed paycheck. According to parental leave consultant Linzay Davis, a maternity leave should ideally allow the parent to focus on their health and recovery, while also bonding with their child. "What your line of work is, what your pay looks like, and what your recovery is like makes a big difference in what leave looks like," she says. The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists advocates for at least eight weeks of fully paid parental leave. --- Experts Featured in This Article Linzay Davis is the founder of the parental leave consulting firm The Park. Jocelyn Frye is the president of the National Partnership for Women and Families. --- Davis says a helpful leave needs to comprise two components: wage replacement and health insurance. There are typically three routes to get these: through your employer, under national law, or under state policies. When you run your own business, it's difficult to fully take time off if you rely on yourself for income. Unlike other countries with similarly developed economies, the US doesn't have any form of nationally-mandated paid leave. Many private companies offer paid parental leave, although Davis says the terms vary and are totally up to the employer. The only law on the books is the Family and Medical Leave Act, a 1993 law that guarantees workers job protections and up to 12 weeks of unpaid leave per year after a birth or adoption. This legislation is a starting point, but its specific eligibility requirements mean it doesn't protect everyone. Some people rely on short-term disability or paid leave offered by their state. And 13 states, such as California and New Jersey, plus the District of Columbia, offer some sort of paid parental leave programs, but these also aren't universal. Recent legislative attempts to close these gaps and enact universal paid leave haven't successfully advanced within Congress. "There isn't a national mandate that requires an employer to provide paid family or medical leave," says Jocelyn Frye, president of the National Partnership for Women and Families, a nonprofit, nonpartisan advocacy group that focuses on these issues. "The FMLA gives you something and it's important, but it's only one step in terms of where we need to be." Running your own business means you often can't entirely take time off during leave, or end up taking shorter leave. New Jersey-based therapist Christine M. Valentín, LCSW, runs her own therapy practice and took leave for a planned pregnancy in 2016. "I'm a planner by nature, so everything I started doing once I did get pregnant revolved around setting my life up so it was easier to manage," she tells PS. This involved working closely with each client to figure out how much support they needed from her, and making plans for them to seek other care if necessary while she was out. Valentín works out of both New Jersey and New York, but her health insurance only covered her in one state, so she stopped in-person appointments and switched to telehealth one month before her due date at the end of October. She also cut down on her commute by giving up her physical office in Manhattan. Valentín saw clients up until two weeks before her delivery, and took leave from… https://www.popsugar.com/family/maternity-leave-self-employed-49371540?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=tumblr

How do preschools support children with diverse needs?
Manhattan beach preschool support children with diverse needs by implementing inclusive practices that cater to varying abilities and learning styles. They may offer specialized support services, such as speech therapy or occupational therapy, to address developmental delays. Teachers are often trained to adapt curriculum and teaching methods to accommodate different learning needs. Classroom environments may include visual aids, sensory materials, and modified activities to ensure inclusivity. Regular communication between teachers and parents helps identify and address individual needs, fostering a collaborative approach to support each child's unique requirements.

was that jenny boyd? oh no no, that was just ariana dupont, an original character from percy jackson. they are twenty one years old, use she/her, and are not aware that they are not actually from washington dc. too bad they can’t stray from this city for long.
how long has your character been here:
about 10 years now, her physical age is closer to twenty three years old
what is your character’s job:
she's a secretary for a legal office, and is working on a psychology degree
where has your character been pulled from in their fandom:
right after her death
has any magic affected your character:
she's unaware of her real life atm!
and any other information you might find useful for us and the other members to know:
born to a mortal man and the goddess hecate, ariana was doomed from birth to live a difficult life. her father had an affair with the goddess, and her stepmother was furious when ariana arrived, though she stayed with him for the two sons they already had together
her father was severely affected by the destruction of his marriage and his lover vanishing into thin air, and turned to drinking rather than raising his children, and her stepmother was resentful of having to raise her husband’s affair baby, and was very strict on her where she wasn’t on her own sons
after ariana was kicked out of her first school, she was sent away to a boarding school so that her stepmother didn’t have to see her unless it was strictly necessary. she slowly began to think she was crazy, seeing winged horses and creatures that no one could see but herself
boarding school didn’t work out as well as her parents had hoped, as when ariana came home for the summer when she was seven, a monster attacked the house. she was severely injured in the attack and in an attempt to get it to back off, her magic started a fire that killed her father and stepmother
she and her brothers were taken into foster care, and she was told repeatedly that she was either lying or insane when she talked about what had happened. she ended up talking to multiple child psychologists, all of whom only reinforced her worry that she was crazy. eventually, she snapped and ran off, entirely lost on what was wrong with her, but no longer wanting to hear about it
she ran until she came across a satyr, who brought her to camp half-blood, and explained to her the truth of what her mother must have been. she was sent to cabin eleven with the rest of the unclaimed kids, and wondered constantly about which goddess was her mother. until luke, who she didn’t know well but admired as everything she wanted to be, revealed himself as a traitor
after the war began to brew, she was claimed as a daughter of the goddess of magic, and she was a bit ostracized as a result. hecate was a deity of the underworld, and the children of the chtonic deities were an unknown, and therefore a bit frightening to the other demigods around her
she joined kronos’ side because it was the side her mother and the boy she’d idolized fought for. it was justice, for all the children who were ignored and attacked because of their parentage, and for the gods who were barely acknowledged to the point that their children being claimed caused fear and isolation
she was young, but was a decently powerful witch, and good with a dagger. she did what she could for kronos’ army, casting any spell that was asked of her, even when doubts began to creep in about the legitimacy of what they were doing
she was killed in the battle of manhattan at age fourteen, after hesitating against a demigod who’d been kind to her at camp, and went down almost instantly, before waking up in washington entirely alone
in dc, she ended up in foster care for years, as well as therapy, and managed to recover a decent amount and realize just how misguided she’d been as a child
she met ben solo on one of his broody days, and they hit if off, and now are engaged, with three children, jaxon, elara, and aurore, in spite of accidentally killing ben while unaware. (her mother in law hates her but honestly bitch no longer has a leg to stand on)
she's absolutely still bitter as fuck about how her family and the gods treated her and handled everything, but in a 'fuck you i'm going to win by doing better than you all ever could' kind of way rather than a 'joining a really questionable cause in a fit of teenage angst' kind of way. girlie is a great mother out of spite and spite alone
she's doing her best to stay out of the star wars drama, because god ben's family might be worse than her own in terms of insane shit
girl just wants some peace and quiet and that is not going to happen anytime soon

Post #97: Fallen Angels issues 1-8
I've never read this miniseries before and I don't really know anything about it other than it stars Berto and a bunch of really weird new characters, which is more than enough for me. After all the stress and distrust of their recent arcs, this mini opens with the New Mutants just hanging out and playing soccer. But like all good things around here, it soon comes to an end when Sam trips and collides with Berto, slamming his head into a goalpost. On reflex, Berto lashes out with his power and knocks Sam unconscious. Ashamed, he runs away to his room. He goes to Max's office to ask for advice, but he's already taken Sam to the hospital. Berto sees his own student file on the desk and opens it to find a letter that Xavier had typed up about him saying that he fears Berto may follow in his father's footsteps. Berto decides that he's too evil a person to remain at the school, and he leaves a goodbye note and runs away. I actually really like how stupid and overdramatic this plot hook is, because kids are usually stupid and overdramatic. We've seen the New Mutants struggling with a lot of really complicated drama lately and struggle to figure stuff out, which can make us forget that even in really simple misunderstandings teenagers can also have way too hard a time figuring themselves out. As Berto walks the streets of Manhattan drowning in angst, he stumbles across a girl being mugged and jumps in- but his powers suddenly fail him, leaving him at the muggers' mercy.
Berto and his new friend are getting beat up when another girl, Ariel, opens the door to the building next door and the girl, Chance, runs in. Berto, whose angsty inner monologue has declared that "Cain is no more evil than I," just gives up, until Warlock appears and saves him, having tracked Berto down. He says that if Berto won't come back to the mansion, they'll be outcasts together. It's not the first time they've had an interaction like this, but it just always warms my heart to see these two interact. Berto is just always so openly friendly and affectionate to Warlock, it's adorable. Berto goes to check on Ariel and Chance, but the door leads to an empty room. Back at the mansion, Max is explaining the Berto situation to Moira, who he had called to help him out with all his end of term paperwork. She brought along Sean's daughter Theresa and Jamie Madrox. Max enlists Moira on therapy duty for the other kids, which is long overdue, and Theresa and Jamie head to the city to try to track down Berto and Warlock. But when they eventually find them, so does somebody else- a weird guy with pet lobsters, who tells Berto that he needs to come with him. Then the Vanisher shows up, and Theresa attacks him cause he's evil. In all the commotion, a door opens up and Ariel and Chance, who are friends with the lobster guy, tell Berto to come with them. He does, and Warlock and some of Jamie's duplicates follow, but when Theresa tries to she finds the door leads into a restaurant and the others are nowhere to be found.
It turns out Ariel and Chance are members of Vanisher's gang of thieves that Tabitha (Boom-Boom) recently left. So is the lobster guy, whose name is Gomi, and Don and Bill, his lobsters that he talks to psychically. Vanisher wants Berto in his crew, the Fallen Angels, and because he's decided to embrace his life as a tragic villain, he accepts, on the condition that Warlock can stay too. The Jamie dupes stick around too, to keep an eye on things. Jamie Prime and Theresa, meanwhile, have no idea were everyone went off to. Jamie suggests they get dinner while they wait for his dupes to bring Berto and Warlock back to them. We get some more hints of Jamie's past; he lived on a farm as a child, and when his parents died, he just kept living there with dupes as his company, which fucked him up in ways he doesn't realize. It's also time to start getting origin stories from the new guys, starting with Gomi. He's not actually a mutant, but a cyborg. He and his lobsters were test subjects for college kids obsessed with superheroes, and they gave the lobsters sentience and Gomi some psychic powers. Eventually the three of them ran away and joined up with these guys. We don't get much info on Ariel yet, just that she's not a mutant, but an alien, and she can open portals through doorways. To demonstrate, she opens one into then X-Factor building to check on Tabitha, who's bored and decides to go through and rejoin her old friends. Just then, Theresa and Jamie arrive and demand an explanation. But as they're taking the conversation outside, Ariel opens another portal, and everyone's on an alien planet.
They immediately get attacked by an alien dinosaur, except for Vanisher, who vanishes. Berto gets a sudden boost of power and beats the dino single handedly, while Ariel and Chance run off in search of their targets- two mysterious mutants on this planet. They don't find anything except Vanisher, who says he was just on his way to check on them, and they head back to the camp, where Theresa and Jamie are flirting while Tabitha sits there pouting in jealousy. Berto and Warlock have also wandered off, where they run into Moon Boy and Devil Dinosaur, the mutants Ariel was looking for, and bring them back to the camp to introduce them.
Moon Boy and Devil Dinosaur (two previously established characters with the powers of being an ape man and being a sentient dinosaur, respectively) decide to come back to Earth with everyone cause why not. At this point, the characters seem to realize that their book has no plot and they're only halfway through, so they hang out in the living room for half an issue until Vanisher says the new mission is go steal a bunch of food so the dinosaur doesn't eat them. They all wander off in pairs. Theresa points out to Jamie that they are completely failing their mission of recovering Berto and Warlock, and Jami says they probably can't convince them to come back so it's better to join the gang of petty thieves to keep an eye on them. No wonder these guys haven't gotten membership in any of the big teams yet. Eventually, Tabitha and Gomi run into a rogue Jamie dupe who doesn't want to rejoin Prime. They kidnap him and bring him to Theresa and Jamie, and they all have a little philosophy debate about the nature of life. It's mostly a gag, and implied to be because of the way everyone's powers have been acting weird, but it actually lays the foundation for a ton of Peter David's work on Jamie down the line. The scene is broken by tragedy when Moon Boy and Devil Dinosaur, who got bored, show up to hang out with everyone, and Devil Dino steps on Don the blue lobster.
The next issue picks up after Don's funeral, where Berto and Warlock comfort Gomi and Bill and Berto gets one of his best moments ever talking about how all lobsters go to Heaven. Devil Dino is wracked with guilt, and Berto takes this as another opportunity to wallow in his own "evil nature," saying Devil Dino is a better man than he. Ariel and Chance have a cryptic conversation about their evil plans for all the mutants they're collecting. Bill gets into a fight with Devil Dino, which Berto breaks up, before suddenly everyone's mutant power disappears and comes back. During the disappearance, the rebel dupe stays separate from Jamie, and they decide to stay separate as brothers. Everyone's freaking out about all the weird power stuff recently, and they assume it must be X-Factor stalking them, so when Ariel suggests she take them all to her home planet, they all agree, to her delight.
Everyone's hanging out on the planet Coconut Grove, which resembles a mall in a cartoon more than anything else. The guy in charge, Unipar, keeps following them around wiggling his fingers evilly, making cryptic comments about how he likes mutants. I'm starting to think this is the guy Ariel is working for. Jamie's rogue dupe is getting even weirder, and has now split into another dupe that doesn't want to be absorbed, leaving us with three different Jamies. Vanisher calls a meeting to discuss what the hell they're all doing, when suddenly all their powers start going crazy again. Jamie, using the mini Cerebro that Moira gave him to track Berto, discovers that the reason for all this is Chance, who it turns out is a mutant with the power to turn other mutations on and off. Unipar shows up to collect the mutants, including Chance, to Ariel's anger. To Chance's horror, Ariel eventually lets them take her only friend off, before she too is captured. It turns out she's also a mutant, with the power of persuasion, which explains why everyone keeps acting weird when she wants them to. But it's tragic news for our heroes, who are now all captured.
Everyone except Bill, the green robot cyborg, who sneaks after his captured friends and starts plotting revenge. A lot of writers have tried to replicate the cool badass Wolverine Alone moment from the Dark Phoenix Saga, but this one just set a bar that none, including the original, can never touch. Everyone else is stuck in a cell, where Unipar tells them they'll all be dissected to uncover the secret of mutation, which the Coconut people almost never achieve. Warlock does get a nice moment; his mutation is to have the capacity for compassion, but even with dampeners on the cell, he still cares for Berto. He asks Theresa why, and she says that love is a learned behavior, and he doesn't need his mutation any more. The scientists kill one of the Jamie dupes and drag the other two and Berto off. Then, Bill shows up, beats up all the guards, and frees them. After some debate, they decide to take Chance and Ariel with them. Elsewhere, the distraction of the riot gives Berto and Jamie and chance to break free. The independent dupe sacrifices himself and lets the other Jamie absorb him to heal both their injuries, and there's a big teamup where Chance masters her powers to boost all the other Fallen Angels. Ariel convinces Unipar to let them go, and they all head back to Earth. Berto finally realizes that he really sucks at being an edgy villain, mainly because he keeps being supportive and protective of everyone around him. He decides to return to the New Mutants, which delights Warlock. Theresa and Jamie decide to stick with the Angels for a while and try to guide them on a path of good, which I'm sure will work great. And that's it for the book.
This was one of the weirdest books I've read in a bit. Not because the plot was incomprehensible but because it mostly didn't exist. For being the lead character, Berto didn't really do all that much, but for the time he was on the page, we got to see a new side of him as a reluctant leader, something that doesn't really come up when he's with Dani and Sam but will become a bigger part of his character in the 2000s. And like I said I'm always happy to see him hanging with Warlock. It was nice for Jamie to have a bigger role in a book, even though he doesn't yet much resemble the great character Peter David turns him into. Most of the other characters weren't that great, except Gomi and the lobsters, who are now some of my favorite deep cut X-characters ever. If Marvel ever hires me I'm resurrecting Don. When I was reading about this book I found out that it was originally going to be published when Berto disappeared for a while during SWII, but there were delays and it got rewritten for this point in the series, which makes that whole thread make a lot more sense. I'm not at all against weird books with no plots, but this one definitely could have been a few issues shorter. I wish Jo Duffy had stuck around the X-office longer, cause she's a good writer and with a little more time to adjust to this franchise I think she could have written a great ongoing X-book. But alas, this is the last we see of the Fallen Angels. It was nice, but I miss the main New Mutants book and I'm glad to be headed back.

Trevor was always a baseball fan but his adoptive father would help him and coach him. It was bonding that Trevor never experienced since he never had a father or a father role model in his life. Even though it was a hobby at first, Trevor got serious about it. He worked super hard in high school and working different positions. He was able to get a full ride scholarship to college where he played college ball. Because of his performance in college, he was able to get recruited to the Atlanta Braves and played as their pitcher for many years. Now back in NY due to a career ending injury. Now working as a recruiting agent for the Atlanta Braves.

His injury happened a year ago. When he found out he couldn’t pitch anymore and needed surgery, he spiraled to the point he was depending on drugs and alcohol, even not doing physical therapy. That’s when his parents came together and got him into a rehab in Atlanta. It helped him realize it’s not the end of the world and he can focus on new things. He can still be involved with the team and he can go back to NYC and try to fix things with his first love.
