Final Days of Dian Fossey
youtube
The poachers....the gorillas were vaccinated and illegal animals in that forest.....the poachers had to protect the paradise and remove passified predators...
Im from Wisconsin and I recommend that people notice social views of how to make small cow land...as well as treat cows like an agricultural animal so Texas especially if Hindus aren't allowed very large plantations with huge bull edifices stalks me like no other
They have iron deficiencies and their Asian parents just drop them off around me to fix so it's you have to feed her beef
She got called a mental her mother found incest so taboo she probably was over bearing rude lazy and an awful lady to her because of gay phobia
The schizophrenogenic mother appears to be dian fosseys emblem of achievement rude in speech inhospitable short curt won't talk much
Tries to speak beautifully in situations requiring humour and competence awful lady
So Aggie hurst she appears to have murdered the adherents the native peoples told her she could work with.....
Like trungpa rinpoche
Carissa accidentally killed a dog.....so she had to start looking very English....I have severe allergies to dog and I don't view them as native here in bad ways....instead of new and modern....
Racoons....rakunks you don't really have to do anything and there is not poop piles around
And dog like gorilla is something the most raped problems often confess having to playmate with and Carissa had a tribal complex to save the women
She wanted to be queer that way sad to see it gone
Its probably important because the pygmies were so offended by her assumption they let other enemies of her work kill homosexuals of aids....they gave digit to tourists
Uhm constructivism to create the American strength all sorts of appendages can be enlarged and african American women were thought to be the most raped so
She had sex with the gorillas.....took a long time to execute her for hating people
Billy the kidd killed.....pat Garrett finally killed Billy the kidd and his hiding house 100 miles away from anything
Americans though do have really advanced educations and most animal rights activists are noticed having too many problems with disorganized thinking....its that the states knew she couldn't function normally before she went and wouldn't prevent it
They could better fund mental health care and instead inspire programs to run away from little brother don't put that there
Rise of communist China they could get rid of private mentalism for allied triage spaces so people better learn employment in an immersive environ and instead it's torture or torture so
Chicago culture....the Irish figured out underground and how missing bereaved people could understand job instead of their missing culture so it's that simple she could have at any time been deflated as some bartender gang
That's me about pb the peace program there claimed it was our migrant leaders instead of Gwen Moore.....so it's im sorry but these first 20th century environmental emancipations like coka cola still provide better breeding for women because it treats bug bites not these creepy buy his farm.now oat programs
Its Gwen Moore that actually protects his forest
They weren't expediting the homelesses social security issues and getting especially the old into a boarding house that's not how those types of you were bad situations go
I would i would feed all the hungry starving students and not care if land wasn't ranch anymore
Ruth mas with people like Carissa....Carissa digit....
It took like full opening and removal of all 1970s history then a Russian like Carissa could finally go to Ruth mas
Vaccine students you don't like or identify with your teachers though in comparison to indigenous women...
You wanted to drink cheap beer with me and Lauren didn't you

Global inventory of wonderful beer: What I drink is not wine, but creativity!
Isn't beer just yeast, barley, water and hops? Well, it's also right and wrong-for some beer, this statement is simply wrong. The brains of the beer brewer are too big, and sometimes the brewed beer-how to put it-is quite "interesting". The following wonderful beers are the best examples.
Collagen beer Speaking of weirdness, the Japanese definitely do their part. Suntory launched a collagen beer called Precious, which is said to remove wrinkles left by the years and make you look young and invincible. This 5-degree Talrag comes in 330ml cans and contains 2 grams of collagen per can.
Cat Shit Beer You must have heard of the famous cat feces coffee: a civet living in the tropics eats coffee cherries and is discharged from the other side of the body. The action of stomach acid can make coffee beans produce a different flavor. Beer Geek Brunch Weasel from Megele is a breakfast Shitao with an alcohol level of 10.9-be careful, the wine is full of strength.
Bloody (Mary) Beer Well, strictly speaking, it is not based on Bloody Mary, a good brunch partner. However, Short's Brewing Company of Bel Air, Michigan does use cherry tomatoes in its Bloody Beer, as well as black pepper and celery. Rapeseed, wasabi, and dill, so it’s similar to Bloody Mary. This "Cool Beer from Bel Air" has long been discontinued, with an alcohol content of 7, and an international bitterness index of 40.
Fossil beer The Lost Rhino Brewery in Virginia and PaleoQuest, a non-profit organization that promotes the excavation of dinosaur fossils rather than food trends, have teamed up to create a beer that will attract attention to science. They collected yeast from whale fossils 35 million years ago and made a 5.5-degree beer named Bone Dusters Amber Ale. Cool! It's a pity that the yeast is not collected from the fossils of the long extinct rhino or Tyrannosaurus.
Sheep dung beer After reading this list, you will find that Icelandic brewers really have a lot of free time and a whimsical spirit of adventure. The Borg Brugghus brewery is a good example: due to lack of wood, they lighted the sheep dung pile to smoke and roast the malt when making Fenrir Nr26. American IPA smoked and roasted with sheep dung, alcohol content 6, and international bitterness index 63.
Beer older than whale fossils Fossil Fuels Brewing Co has a product called AY108, which uses yeast found in bee fossils. This bee was wrapped in pine resin and turned into amber in the Eocene Eocene 45 million years ago (is it so shocking that it can’t close its mouth?). Professor Raul Cano figured out how to separate the yeast from above, and then wondered how to make the best use of it. Finally, he chose to brew beer instead of bread. The first result is this Dan Aier named after yeast, and there is also a Saisen.
Beer made with money The evil twins collaborated with the Norwegian craft brewer Lervig Aktiebryggeri in the port of Stavanger. The raw material is real banknotes. What's even more exaggerated is that they threw some frozen pizza into it. The alcohol content is 17.5 degrees.
Heavy beer from the toilet The Danish government and Norrebro Bryghus brewery are really fighting for environmental protection, and they even have the idea of urinating. They recovered a large amount of urine from the famous Roskilde Music Festival and used it to brew a Pearson called Pisner. Do you want to contribute to the cause of sustainable development? Then taste the piss of these hippies.
Colorful beer Abashiri Brewery in Hokkaido, Japan uses seaweed and other natural ingredients to brew red, blue and green beer. They also used beer and excess milk to produce a malt drink called Bilk. Apart from other things, at least it is colorful.
Beer made from sewage The sewage in the sewer sounds as disgusting as dirty waste oil. I'm afraid no one can drink anything made of it. The Jushi Brewery in San Diego brewed an IPA using recycled water provided by the city's water purification project. This Dan Air, called Full Circle, is limited to five barrels, but it may indicate the future of beer brewing.
Roald Dahl Beer Yeast is ubiquitous and can be collected everywhere, so why not collect some yeast from the custom desk of the late children's literature writer Roald Dahl? London creative company Bompas & Parr entrusted this task to 40FT Brewery to brew Odious Ale for a pop-up restaurant based on Dahl's "Stupid Couple".
Beer from the moon Dogfish Head Brewery is keen to challenge the limit, but often thinks too crazy and circumvents itself in, but the time when they ventured into space may be their most rebellious exploration so far. With the help of the company that makes spacesuits for NASA, they got some dust on the moon, which was taken from NASA where the moon landed on the moon—well, no more obscurations, it’s on the moon— —Collected, and then spilled into this limited edition beer called Oktoberfest. Alcohol 5, International Bitterness Index 25.
Elephant Poop Beer The Japanese brewery Sankt Gallen wanted to brew a beer that will be unforgettable, so he thought of elephant poo. How does it work? They fed coffee cherries to elephants living in Thailand’s wildlife sanctuary, and then brewed a "chocolate shitao" called Un, Koon Kuro (a pun for "poop" in Japanese) from elephant dung coffee beans. It was also selected for sale on April Fool's Day, but this is not a joke.
Beer as dark as ink Cuttlefish juice—or more precisely the juice of cuttlefish, squid and octopus, or the juice of cephalopods—can be said to be everywhere now, so you can’t help thinking that these animals are scared when they face the extinction of humans. What is it like? Anyway, the master brewer of 3 Sheeps in Wisconsin created a black IPA called Nimble Lips Noble Tongue No3, using cuttlefish juice.
Too private beer We are all adults, but the Internet will always surprise us head-on, especially when you see a page on the crowdfunding website Indiegogo for the world’s first vaginal beer fundraising-this one is called Bottled Instinct's acid ale uses lactic acid extracted from a Czech model. We don't know if anyone will drink it, because this project has not even raised 1% of the final goal of 150,000 euros, and it should be a joke on April Fools' Day at all? Otherwise, it really makes people get goosebumps.
16. Add a whole chicken to beer
Over the years, the rooster Al almost cast a layer of mystery. It is said that it was very popular in England in the 17th and 18th centuries. In fact, it is an ordinary Al, but a whole rooster was added during the brewing process. Hand Pulled Cock Ale from Willimantic Brewing Co in Connecticut-7% alcohol, only available in barrels-is a modern version of Cock Ale, but its name still implies that old joke (you got it).
Fried chicken beer As the song in "Grease" sings, fried chicken and beer are good partners, so why not add some chicken to the beer? Veil Brewing Co of Richmond, Virginia, and the evil twins teamed up to brew chicken beer. Their Fried Fried Chicken Chicken DIPA uses a lot of Fried Chicken Nuggets.
Sheep brain beer Philadelphia's Dock Street Brewing Company brewed Dock Street Walker to pay tribute to "The Walking Dead," but it was more terrifying than zombies, using smoked lamb brains. This American Pale Shitao is 7.2 degrees, and cranberries are added to create a touch of acidity.
Whale testicle beer Icelandic microbrewer Steoji has launched Hvalur 2, which is an upgraded version of Hvalur 1, which was produced in cooperation with the whaling company Hvalur and caused a huge controversy due to the addition of full whale meat (fish meat and fish bones). As the second seasonal crossover, it uses whale testicles smoked and roasted with sheep dung—well, one is added to each winemaking cycle.
Masculine beer The Rocky Mountain Oyster Stout of Wynkoop Brewing in Denver was originally just an April Fools' Day joke, but I didn't expect it to become a reality because of the public's enthusiastic response. With an alcohol content of 7.5, three cow testicles are added to each barrel-this "gourmet" is nicknamed Rocky Mountain Oysters locally. A set of two cans is quite appropriate.
Bull Heart Beer Portland's Upright Brewing and Burnside Brewing collaborated to produce this Captain Beefheart. The ingredients include 27 kilograms of charcoal grilled beef heart and a lot of spices. Similar products include the Burke In The Bottle, a collaboration between Jim Koch of Boston Beer Company and chef David Burke.
Sunday barbecue beer Conwy Brewery in Wales caters to the close relationship between locals and sheep and brews a lamb beer. Sunday Toast is a Victorian-style Porter beer with the juice from slow roasting of Welsh lamb. Perhaps lamb-ic is more appropriate.
Truffle beer Truffles are very expensive. Using them to brew beer seems a bit risky, but some people have succeeded. Chicago Moody Tongue's black truffle crumbs Pearson is highly sought after in some of the top high-end restaurants in the United States, while Miki Le has chosen to use black truffles to brew a dark beer called The Forager.
Stag semen beer Green Man Pub in Wellington, New Zealand, and local brewer Choice Bros brewed a beer with stag semen, which caused a huge sensation for a while. We will not continue to discuss the name Lu Jing Shitao to obtain such a subtle beer, let's stop here.
Mushroom beer In the past few years, the brewery seems to have used all the mushrooms imaginable. Jester King of Austin, Texas used locally grown oyster mushrooms in this Snorkel. 4.5 Alcohol, Goss style.
Oysters (really real this time) beer The encounter between Oyster and Shi Tao gave birth to many interesting stories. We used to drink Shitao while sucking oysters beautifully. Now we use oyster shells to clarify the beer, or put them in a boiling pot, or even throw whole oysters into it. Flying Dog Pearl Necklace Oyster Shitao did just that.
Natural green beer Free Tail Brewing Co of San Antonio, Texas adds blue-green algae to a 4.2-degree rye white beer to give it a charming blue-green color. If the advertisements of Mandalay Brewing in Myanmar and Red Dot Brewery in Singapore are accurate, Spirulina beer has another magical effect-anti-aging.
Seaweed beer Bladderwrack is a good name for beer, but it is actually a kind of seaweed. Williams Bros Brew in Alloa, Scotland added it to its own Kelpie Seaweed Ale. This Scottish Groot-an ancient beer style-is intended to recreate the traditional style of beer from the coastal regions of Scotland.
Real gold beer We have all drunk golden Al, but have you ever drunk gold? Golden Queen Bee brewed by Golden Bee Beer contains edible 24K gold leaf. There is no need to throw gold like this, but if you can get another bottle of The Lost Abbey's Gift Of The Magi-a golden Al with frankincense and myrrh, then you must be full of every cell in your body The joy of Christmas.
Pizza beer Mamma Mia Pizza Beer is produced by the Chicago Pizza Beer Company. The ingredients include Margarita Pizza soaked in malt. We don’t know if the crust is Chicago-style.
Donut beer Voodoo Donuts Maple Syrup Bacon Al is the first beer launched by Voodoo Donut Bakery in collaboration with Rogue Brewery, also in Oregon. The series includes six products so far. They want to use these beers to reproduce the best-selling single-product flavors of this bakery in Portland. The latest flavors currently launched are Guerrilla Grape and Mango Spaceman.
Pig head beer Mangalica Pig Porter uses the head and bones of Mangalica Pig. This breed of pig is quite precious and is known as Kobe beef in pork. Right Brain Brewery in Traverse City, Missouri uses whole pig heads when brewing this beer, and even the eyeballs are still in the eye sockets. The winery also brews a series of more delicious pork pie beers, with raw materials including whole pork pie from a local bakery.
Expired bread beer The raw material of toast air is leftover bread that cannot be eaten, and it aims to eliminate food waste. All the profits from this beer brewed with excess bread are donated to charitable organizations, and even a factory is set up in the Bronx, New York. The recipe is public, so you can try it yourself with the leftover bread you eat.
Just put your crying beer There is a resonance between Chili Control and Beer Mania, which is why countless beers have combined these two things in one in pursuit of a mixed effect. The grimace killer at the Twisted Pine Brewery in Colorado—named after the Wudang rapist of the same name—uses six different varieties of peppers. Among them, the hottest pepper is the Devil Pepper (also known as Broken Soul Pepper). Scoville's index exceeds 1 million-the pepper is only about 2000. You can imagine how spicy it is.
Bearded beer Rogge Beard Beer can be regarded as one of the most weird beers in the world. Brewmaster John Maier extracts yeast from his beard and brews an American wild ale. Maier once vowed that he would never shave his beard, so the raw material of this beer can really be said to be

My wife is a quilter and she's been blogging about it on her blog. This past weekend I learned something from her process. The idea of using constraints to propel the process of artmaking.
About five years ago, I made music religiously and I posted at least one new track every few weeks on my SoundCloud account. I had a routine where I would wake up and play guitar for a few minutes to capture some ideas I had in my dreams. My routine fell apart when I moved to Chicago, got married, and took up a full time job. I soon stopped making music and posting content to my soundcloud page. I felt like I had put my music life on hold.
When I took up a remote job this year, I found myself with more time on my hands, especially in the evenings. So I thought I will revive my love for music making. Howveer it had been nearly five years since making msuic and I had to relearn the process, and I was struggling. I would record small bits of melodies, and then obsess over the sound of the recording. I would tweak the sounds fudging with the hundreds knobs in Logic Pro without ever producing any meaningful music. I was feeling frustrated.
So I asked my wife how she goes about making quilts. She said that quilting involves too many steps to fuss about the details, plus all limitations of the medium (2-dimensional, material costs, available fabric, sewing machine, cutting, stitching, etc.) really help her be more productive, because she has to work within the constraints. So I thought I should give myself some constraints as well.
After thinking about what were some of the things that were holding me back, I came up with this list.
Make an entire album with just drums and guitar
Using only default settings available in Logic Pro
Write one new track every weekend
When writing you can only add segments going forward in time, but never remove or add segments in between or rearrange segments
Release one new song every Monday
With these new constraints my process became easy. I was able to come up with two short pieces this weekend. And here's the first complete track that I've made in about five years! This melody poopped in my head while I was walking my dog, Mr. Harold, and I plan to make a small video for it too soon.
My goal is to follow this process until I have about fifteen tracks. Let's see how it goes.

Working From Home? Real-Estate Developers Are Here to Help
Stephen Voss for the Wall Street Journal
When Joshua Bryan leaves his apartment to go to work, he travels up three stories, to the 40th floor of his building in Chicago’s South Loop neighborhood. There, he settles into a workspace with television screens, a kitchenette and sweeping views of Lake Michigan.
For meetings, Mr. Bryan books a first-floor conference room with teleconference equipment and interactive white boards for presentations. The building also has a fifth-floor “Makerspace,” a shared office area with personal computers, a 3-D laser printer and a computerized milling machine for cutting and shaping metal or wood.
The communal workspace is pretty much the reason I chose this building,” says Mr. Bryan, who is 37 and owns the Chicago franchise of Poop 911, a company for dog-waste removal.
With his wife, Irene Rivera, a 36-year-old practitioner of alternative medicine, and cocker spaniels Gracie and Sophie, he rents a two-bedroom corner unit with floor-to-ceiling windows for $3,705 a month. Since moving there in December, Mr. Bryan has saved $1,500 a month in office rent he used to pay in a suburb—not counting the gas “and the years of my life sitting in Chicago traffic,” he says. Now, he likes to take work calls on a 40th-floor terrace, also equipped with TVs and Wi-Fi.
One of today’s most practical amenities in residential buildings: shared office space equipped with the latest tech and communications equipment. With more Americans working from home, architects and developers are designing spaces that spare residents from conducting business at a Starbucks. At Mr. Bryan’s building, 1001 South State, developer Golub & Co. hoped to build a creative, techie vibe for young professionals. The idea, says president and chief executive Michael Newman, was to differentiate the building and charge higher rents than what is typical for the neighborhood. Developers say amenities such as communal offices and gyms also keep revenue in the building, rather than residents paying for them elsewhere.
In 2016, 15 million workers, or 10% of the American workforce, were self-employed, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Along with telecommuters, consultants and others with flexible schedules, they make up a sizable market of renters and home buyers in need of living space that fits their lifestyle. For single-family houses, home builders are now conceiving floorplans with fully wired “flex space” suitable as an office area. In apartment buildings, they are installing work lounges inspired by the creative work environments of the tech world—less business center and more cyber-café—with big windows, hip furniture and often, free coffee.
Shared office space reflects the tastes of young Americans growing into the real-estate market. Those in their 20s and 30s are more social than their parents were, architects say, and need larger spaces for public amenities and smaller private apartments. Whether at work or play, they note, young renters and buyers need functioning electronics, electrical outlets and Wi-Fi everywhere in a building. And even if freelancing, observers note, young adults crave the camaraderie that comes with an old-fashioned office.
“It’s not just giving them a space to work in the building, but a space to interact with fellow residents—for sharing ideas, social events and for being part of a bigger community,” says Rohit Anand, principal in the Tysons, Va., office of Irvine, Calif.-based KTGY Architecture + Planning.
Community was a draw for 31-year-old Michael Weinberger, who moved into a new KTGY-designed building in Washington, D.C., on April 12. The building, called AVA NoMa for its location in the bustling North of Massachusetts Avenue district, has an open-plan ground floor, where chill-out seating groups are adjacent to a long work table reminiscent of Apple Inc.’s Genius Bars.
Mr. Weinberger, a transportation planner with Rockville, Md.-based Foursquare ITP, works remotely two days a week and plans to use the space on those days. For meetings or Skype calls that require privacy, there are enclosed workstations with sliding doors.
“There was no other place that was going to make telework so convenient,” says Mr. Weinberger, who leases a 650-square-foot studio for $1,950 a month. The building’s open ground floor, he says, is “like I’m going to a coffee shop without going to a coffee shop.”
Mr. Weinberger also hopes to use other amenities, such as a bike-repair shop and yoga studio, now nearly ubiquitous in new buildings, along with pet spas, gyms and outdoor hot tubs. In most cases, renters don’t pay extra to use the amenities.
Even luxury condo developments lure buyers with facilities for at-home work. 50 West, a new residential tower in Manhattan’s Financial District, where a three-bedroom, 3,400-square-foot penthouse costs $24.5 million, lists a “laptop bar” among the amenities on its entertainment floor.
The building, designed by Chicago-based architect Helmut Jahn, also has 15 office condominiums with a separate entrance that residents can buy separately from their apartments. Prices for the office condos range from roughly $500,000 for a 260-square-foot space to $1.4 million for a 740-square-foot space.
The offices, which are set to be completed in the summer, are drawing interest from foreign buyers who need workspace when in New York, says Francis Greenburger, founder and chief executive of real-estate firm Time Equities Inc., which developed the building. He predicts that the suites will also appeal to New Yorkers like himself.
“I work a lot at the office, but I have adopted a mobile lifestyle, where I work from home early in the day and on weekends,” says Mr. Greenburger, who bought an office condo in the building to complement his main office on Fifth Avenue.
Self-employment rates are higher for older Americans than for younger workers, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, and new homes targeting mature buyers reflect this trend.
At Chelsea Heights, a development in Silver Spring, Md., developer EYA built townhouses with a flex space on the ground floor, which many owners use as an office.
In 2015, Michael Shulman and Jackie Judd paid $950,000—more than they planned—for a 2,600-square-foot townhouse in Chelsea Heights. It has three bedrooms, along with flex space.
“The flexibility of the floorplan was very important to us,” says Mr. Shulman, a 60-year-old investment adviser who runs an online service called “Options Income Blueprint” from his townhome’s first-floor flex space. Ms. Judd, a freelance journalist, works on the townhome’s third floor, far away from her husband’s frequent webinars.
“We don’t get into each other’s way during the day,” says Mr. Shulman. “You know that old saying: I married you for better or for worse, but not for lunch.”
Lisa Phillips Visca, a writer and script consultant in Los Angeles, works out of her three-bedroom, 2,200-square-foot condominium at Playa Vista, a planned community on the Westside of the city. At least once a day, she leaves to get air, grab coffee or lunch or shop for groceries.
With her husband, Dennis Visca, a garment-industry executive, she moved from a larger house in Pacific Palisades in January. The couple was drawn to the vibe and walkability of the neighborhood, which locals call Silicon Beach for its lively technology scene, with startups and offices of tech titans such Google and YouTube.
The Viscas, both empty nesters in their 50s, paid $2.1 million for their condo, located in a modern brick building designed by KTGY. Mr. Visca took the unit’s flex space as his home office, while his wife uses one of the bedrooms for her work, which includes directing and producing films, plays and television shows. Ms. Phillips Visca starts the day as early as 3 a.m. with coffee in her office, conveniently located on the far end of the space, away from master bedroom and living room.
“There is perfect privacy,” she says. For a creative person working from home, she says, “the floorplan was a huge bonus.”

How to Plan Your Trip While Leaving Your Pet Behind?
Tumblr media
Introduction
Dogs make wonderful companions and make great pets for us to keep at home. They are probably considered one of the most loved and entertaining pets. Now it is our responsibility to take good care of these caring creatures who always make us smile. Dogs are one of the few animals which easily fit into our lives and become an important part of our families. Now it is a common occurrence that we need to leave town for business or personal reasons and in many cases, our pets would be left behind. Now being a concerned pet owner it comes naturally to think about what would happen to your pet and this can be difficult and stressful most of the time.
Planning a trip can be exceptionally tough when you have a pet dog that has severe behavioral and separation issues. The pet owner may need to extensively plan regarding who will be feeding, walking the pet and fulfilling their other needs. In this article, we will be discussing the best practices for dog owners to consider while planning for a trip and leaving their pets behind in their condo.
Best Practices
1. Never let your dog feel abandoned
Dogs are very social animals and not having their owner around may have an adverse effect on them mentally. As mentioned in the article earlier if the dog has a separation issue then they may feel being abandoned by their owner, now this can be nerve-wracking as this can be detrimental to your dog’s health. However, dogs, in general, are very adaptable creatures and they will not take long to get used to not having their owner around them.
One fantastic fact about dogs is that they are able to pick up your emotional cues. If you happen to feel worried or stressed a dog is able to sense the energy and in return will feel anxious and worried themselves. Now, it is important that we act normal and excited around your dog, this is the best way to keep your dog calm while you plan for your dog’s welfare while you are away.
Once you have a person to take care of your dog, it is vital that you have a meet and greet with the person who will be taking care of your dog, this is so your dog does not see the person as a threat.
One important precaution the owner should consider is leaving behind some familiar items like shirts, blankets or toys that have the owner’s scent. This way it will ensure your presence around the dog even when you are not around. It is also crucial that you spend time with your dog before leaving like for instance bring your dog out for a walk or play fetch and give extra attention and cuddles. This will build a bond before you leave which is essential for your dog mentally.
2. Where to leave my dog?
Now leaving your dog in an unfamiliar place may cause your dog to feel uncomfortable and there is a chance of detachment. As mentioned in the previous passage, our aim should never be to make the dog feel abandoned, as the dog may have anxiety or depression. In some cases, dogs may not even eat properly and this may affect the overall health.
The best solution is to not move your dog away from where they are comfortable. So, letting your dog stay at home will ensure that your pet is comfortable in its own space surrounded by things and scents which your dog is familiar with. This way your dog will not feel detached while you are away.
3. Dog Watcher
Now considering the previous point, it is important to have someone to look after your dog in your absence. A dog watcher will be able to provide your dog basic needs like food and water and on top of that, your dogs will also be able to go for multiple toilets breaks as well. A dog watcher will also help walk your dog as per your instructions, this is a healthy practice as it ensures your dog gets regular exercise. Now bringing your dog out for a walk gives it the opportunity to socialize with other dogs and this is beneficial for your dog mentally. This helps to keep your dog calm and entertained.
Now if you manage to get one of your family members to look after your dog that would be an added bonus, the reason being, the dog will most likely be familiar with the person and there won’t be a need for meet and greet session. It is vital that you make it clear to the dog watcher on how your dog should be cared for to avoid any issues while you are away. Like, for example, the amount of food and timing and also enforce certain behaviors so your relationship with your dog does not get affected.
The added benefit of having your family member as a dog watcher while you are away is that they are responsible and dependable to take care of your beloved four-legged pet.
4. Safety and precaution
It is vital to have safety infrastructure installed in your apartment to ensure your pet is safe and there is a minimum risk of injury or accident from occurring. Install grilled doors and make sure the doors are locked so your dog remains indoors. This is to prevent the possibility of your dog roaming freely around the condo, which may cause uninvited issues as not all the residents in the condo are fond of dogs roaming around freely. There is also the possibility of property damage if your dog is out roaming freely and anyone’s supervision.
Before you leave make sure all utensils and harmful materials are being kept away from your dog’s reach to avoid potential harm to your dog.
5. Stock up essential items for your dog
Being a responsible owner you should stock up a sufficient amount of food and nutrition for your dog for the duration of your travel. As a responsible owner you should clearly instruct your dog watcher on the amount of food to be given and the timings as well this maintains a normal routine for your dog.
It is essential to stock up on disposable waste bags to collect and dispose of dog waste. Usually, the condo management provides waste bags specially designed for collecting dog waste. Companies like Doo Care are contracted to provide waste bags to a number of Condos and apartments along with dog waste management.
6. Finding the right place to board your dog.
One alternative option available for pet owners when planning for a trip is to find a trustworthy place for your dog to stay like Jet pet resort. Now, this option should only be considered if you have the budget with you. As these places offer a wide range of services like a spa treatment and webcam access for you to monitor your dog’s daily activities. On top of that, your dog will also be fed and handled by the staff. The staff there will also organize some activities to keep the dogs there entertained.
However, as mentioned earlier in this article if your dog has separation anxiety then it is advisable to keep your dog in the hands of individuals whom they are comfortable and familiar with like a family member, to watch over your dog while you are away.
Conclusion
To sum up the article, it is vital to properly plan and consider the risk of leaving your dog behind. We have shared some tips on what to consider when planning for a trip without your pet and what are the practices you should and should not consider. It is part of a responsible owner to properly plan and do proper research before making your final decision, which best suits both you and your dog.
The most important thing is that you are at ease while on your trip knowing your dog is well-taken care and is in safe hands.

Today’s exotic pets are tomorrow’s invasive pests

Today’s exotic pets are tomorrow’s invasive pests
Escaped pet parakeets have led to feral populations in cities from New Jersey to San Francisco. (Deposit Photos/)
This past April, researchers captured and killed a record-breaking, 17-foot-long Burmese python in Florida’s Big Cypress National Preserve. She weighed 140 pounds and contained 73 developing eggs. The species can grow up to 23 feet in length and weigh 200 pounds, but this was the largest one ever removed from the area. It took four people to hold her up for a picture.
Until her death, she was one of the tens of thousands of invasive Burmese pythons in South Florida, according to estimates from the U.S. Geological Survey. The species, which is native to Southeast Asia and invasive in the United States, is decimating Floridian populations of furry mammals, wading birds and “even the occasional alligator.”
Ecologists suspect the Everglades’ first Burmese pythons were former pets released into the wild by their owners. That’s also how another invasive species, the spiny reef-predating Lionfish, was introduced to Florida waters. In fact, research suggests pet trade accounts for nearly 85 percent of the Sunshine State’s about 140 non‐native reptilian and amphibian invaders.
We tend to think of invasive species as interlopers that hitchhike to new places on ships or airplanes—but the exotic pet trade is a significant source of non-natives, according to a paper published this month in the journal Frontiers in Ecology and the Environment. And as pet snakes, lizards, birds, and fish grow in popularity, an uptick in invasive animals could follow.
“The Lionfish, the Burmese python, were probably the tip of the iceberg,” says Julie Lockwood, an ecologist at Rutgers University and one of the paper’s 16 co-authors. She says that the market for invasive pets has increased tremendously in the past few decades.
Florida alone abounds with examples of pets turned pests. In Coconut Grove, Fla., peacocks initially intended to ornament residential properties have multiplied—and, as the Miami Herald reported in 2017, the animals have gone on to peck, shriek, poop, and parade all over the now-divided neighborhood. In Florida’s Silver Springs State Park, an initial release of a half-dozen rhesus macaque monkeys by a tour boat operator in 1938 has grown into a current park population of 300 monkeys (which researchers estimate will double by 2022 if left unchecked). State officials are also concerned about Tegu and Nile monitor lizards, both of which are often kept as pets.
But it’s not just a Florida problem—nor is it a recent one, either. Around 1890, a group of American Shakespeare fans dedicated to bringing all the species mentioned in the Bard’s works to the U.S. released some 100 European starlings, a type of perching bird, in Central Park. By the early 21st century, that initial release had ballooned to more than 200 million starlings across North America, where they are supposed to have damaged billions of dollars-worth of agricultural crops and have occasionally snagged on airplane jet engines.
Escaped pet parakeets have also established feral populations from New Jersey to Chicago and San Francisco. Red-eared Slider Turtles, a popular pet turtle species, now exists in Hawaii and in Central Park, also where last year’s famed Mandarin duck was suspected of being an escaped or released pet.
“The public perception of this issue is small,” says Julian Olden, a freshwater ecologist at the University of Washington who was not involved in the study. “But there’s a proven history of invasive species that have stemmed from the pet pathway.”
In the study, Lockwood and a team of ecologists and environmental economists describe how certain species are pulled into the exotic pet trade, and in turn, how some of those end up becoming problematic ecological invaders when enough owners let them loose intentionally or accidentally.
“It doesn’t take that many people,” Lockwood explains, “then bam, you have an invasive population.”
In the study, researchers noted exotic pet ownership has surged in recent decades. Today, about half of pets in the U.S. are considered exotic (not your typical pet dog, cat, guinea pig, rabbit, or hamster), according to the American Pet Products Association. Ownership of reptiles and amphibians more than doubled from 2.4 million U.S. households in 1994 to 5.6 million in 2012. The U.S. is also the largest importer of marine aquarium fishes; every year, it intakes more than 11 million individual fish representing more than 2,300 species, according to Lockwood’s paper.
Non-traditional marketplaces like expos and web traders have totally expanded the exotic pet trade’s reach, says Oliver Stringham, a co-author and post-doc researcher at the University of Adelaide in Australia. Your very own mail-order turtle, snake, or lizard is just a click away, he says, although that doesn’t change the fact that the animal could still grow to be 50 pounds heavier or 50 years old.
“You don’t have to go out of your way to get them,” Stringham says. “But just because acquiring a pet is very easy and accessible, that doesn’t mean all these animals make good pets.”
Researchers also noted that the most popular pet species tend to be the ones that establish new wild populations.
Take, for example, the green iguana. Between 1996 and 2012 it accounted for almost half of the U.S.’s total reptile trade. They start out small, but the green iguana can grow to be up to six feet long and they can be ornery (prone to biting and tail-lashing) which can lead owners to release them. Green iguanas have now established populations in a handful of states where they are not native. Previous studies have similarly documented that the most highly imported marine and freshwater fish species disproportionately contribute to non‐native fish populations in the U.S.
“The more commonly sold they are, apparently, the more likely they are to establish a non-native population,” Lockwood says.
Last week’s paper also identified cities and suburbs in warmer climates as hotspots for the pet-to-pest pipeline (like metropolitan areas in Florida, Louisiana, southern California, and parts of Texas).
While the recent study pulled together current research on the exotic pet trade’s invasive impact, invasion ecologists agree there are still major gaps in knowledge.
Scientists have not yet investigated the burgeoning popularity of pet‐keeping in Brazil, China, and Southeast Asian countries where ecological invasion is also a possible threat. Around the world, records of imported pet species are not standard, and many are incomplete or incorrect. And ecologists can’t always predict which species, if released, are capable of finding food, mates, and suitable habitats where they can reproduce and establish self‐sustaining non-native populations.
“The whole challenge around the exotic pet trade is it’s been understudied,” Olden says. “This is super gnarly and super complicated—we’ve really been chewing around the edges of it.”
Above all, human motivation remains a major mystery of the exotic pet trade. Scientists don’t fully understand the psychology of why owners decide to buy exotic pets, or why they might go on to release them into the wild.
For a study published earlier this year, researchers from the University of Florida interviewed 29 exotic pet owners, sellers, breeders, trappers, and ecologists or conservationists involved in exotic pet trade research. They found respondents agreed pet owners should be better informed about the realities of their exotic companions—as well as the consequences of releasing them.
In both Florida and Long Island, New York, state officials host Exotic Pet Amnesty Days where people can surrender these pets free of charge with no penalties. Several states—among them Oregon, California, Alaska, and Wyoming—operate “Don’t Let it Loose” campaigns to help support pet owners who are trying to figure out what to do with unwanted pets.
Based on past research, Lockwood says, there’s a decades-long lag time between upticks in the exotic pet market and the transformation of a species into a pest. “We probably haven’t seen the last of this,” she says.

Creating A Dog-Friendly Yard in Chicago
From the suburbs to downtown, Chicago is definitely a dog-friendly city. Our four-legged friends provide companionship and encourage us to get outdoors for daily walks. We need to return the favor by making sure they have a safe outdoor space for them. Check out these tips on creating a dog-friendly yard in Chicago:
Establish A Perimeter
Source
Good fences make great neighbors and good dogs. A secure boundary keeps your dog safe and keeps neighbors safe from the unwelcome advances of even the friendliest dog. There are plenty of styles to choose from including wire, wood, and metal. Make sure to build a fence that’s tall enough so your dog can’t climb over it or dig under it. Put a lock on the gate so uninvited guests can’t come in.
For those larger backyards, consider dedicating a smaller part of the yard to the dog. This will keep other areas are free from dog poop. These smaller portions can be a second fence or some kind of barrier that prevents dogs from having full reign over the entire backyard. You can also train your dog to use one area to do his business. Make sure you water that area often since Spot’s spots can leave brown patches on your lawn.
Provide Some Shelter
Source
Chicago summers can be sweltering while winters are very cold. Providing shelter for your dog is a must to keep him healthy and happy. If you don’t want to add a dog house, make sure there’s a shade tree or picnic table he can crawl under. Adding heated beds and pads to dog houses in the winter helps keep them warm on the coldest of nights. Even if your dog doesn’t live outdoors all the time, it’s a good idea to have some sort of shelter for them.
Access to Water
Source
Abundant access to fresh water is an integral part of creating a dog-friendly yard. A large bucket or tub can hold many gallons for larger dogs. Using a bigger water dish will keep you from having to refill the bucket daily. In the winter, make sure to switch to a heated water bowl that can sit inside the dog house for access to fresh water. Make sure your dog can’t tip the bowl over accidentally. This can keep dogs from getting the water they need and cause dehydration.
  Landscape with Safe Plants
Source
Some plants can be toxic to animals while others possess hazards thorns. Popular varieties like tulips, azaleas, and daffodils can harm your precious pooch. Daisies, carnations, and geraniums are also a big no-no. Make sure to only plant those varieties in the backyard that you know are safe for your dog. Sunflowers, marigolds, and Herbs such as sage, thyme, and cilantro are fine. Removing any plants that your dog can’t leave alone. If you can’t move a prized plant, create a barrier around it to keep it and the dog safe from harm.
Keep Them Busy
Source
Most dogs, especially puppies, love to chew! You’ll find bored dogs become destructive dogs in the backyard. Get some heavy duty chew toys for the yard that will help encourage your pooch to leave the outdoor furniture alone. Other options include limiting the dog’s access to landscaping if they are prone to digging. Playing with your dog several times a day will help keep them occupied.
Providing your dog with a safe space, shelter, and fresh water are the basics of a dog-friendly yard. Consider all these tips when creating a dog-friendly yard in Chicago.

FAQ | First, let’s start with clearing up some potential confusion and putting your mind at ease. You may have seen conflicting articles or received differing opinions on whether dogs are “den animals” (animals that live the majority of their lives underground or in a cave). The truth is that while dogs aren’t technically “den animals,” as they certainly don’t spend the majority of their lives in a den, they do have a “denning instinct.” Pregnant dogs seek out the safety of a den to birth and rear their pups. So some of your puppy’s earliest memories tie back to the comfort and safety of being with mom (and litter mates) in a safe, secure, den-like space. Additionally, when dogs are ill, injured, or otherwise needing a place to relax and feel safe, they will seek out a den or “den-like” protected space. While you may worry that your dog will see their crate as a “jail cell,” the truth is actually quite the opposite. When crate training and conditioning is handled correctly, a crate provides a calming and protective space where your dog can relax and feel secure — and truly be safe.  July 28, 2017 at 4:53 am interaction Cornucopia Institute Your puppy will watch you to read your body signals more than he will listen to you, and he’ll quickly learn what you’re feeling even without you speaking. McKinley and Young undertook a pilot study on the applicability of a modified version of the model-rival method to the training of domestic dogs, noting that the dog’s origins as a member of large and complex social groups promote observational learning. The model-rival training involved an interaction between the trainer, the dog, and a person acting as a model-rival, that is, a model for desired behaviour and a rival for the trainer’s attention. In view of the dog, a dialogue concerning a particular toy commenced between the trainer and the model-rival. The trainer praised or scolded the model-rival depending on whether the model-rival had named the toy correctly. It was found that the performance times for completion of the task were similar for dogs trained with either operant conditioning or the model rival method. In addition, the total training time required for task completion was comparable for both methods.[66] Nosework Games and NW2 & NW3 Coaching Clinics with Michael McManus Training the Best Dog Ever: A 5-Week Program Using the Power of Positive Reinforcement by Larry Kay Paperback $10.98 Featured Events potty train dog | how to potty train a dog fast potty train dog | potty train dog potty train dog | best way to potty train Legal | Sitemap

What to Know About Kidney Stones in Dogs
The post What to Know About Kidney Stones in Dogs by Stephanie Osmanski appeared first on Dogster. Copying over entire articles infringes on copyright laws. You may not be aware of it, but all of these articles were assigned, contracted and paid for, so they aren’t considered public domain. However, we appreciate that you like the article and would love it if you continued sharing just the first paragraph of an article, then linking out to the rest of the piece on Dogster.com.
Dogs get kidney stones, too. Known in the medical community as nephrolithiasis, kidney stones occur when dense deposits of minerals and salts form inside the kidneys naturally. When it comes to kidney stones in dogs, a buildup of the mineral calcium is likely to blame.
Just like in humans, kidney stones in dogs can be painful to deal with. Many times, humans can pass kidney stones in their urine — it’s a painful process but unlike some other medical complications, not necessarily a death sentence. With dogs, the experience is somewhat similar. Dogs experiencing kidney stones should see a veterinarian to set a proper treatment plan in place.
Kidney Stones in Dogs — What Dogs Are Likely to Be Affected?
Kidney stones in dogs are common with some breeds, like Miniature Schnauzers. Photography ©Elen11 | Getty Images.
Are certain dogs more predisposed to kidney stones? First, understand that your dog’s gender and breed may play a crucial role in whether or not he’s susceptible to mineral and salt build-ups in the kidneys.
“Females are more prone to stones and some dog breeds are more at risk than others, such as Miniature Schnauzers, Lhasa Apsos and Shih Tzus,” says Dr. Claire Stevens, BVSc (Hons) Cert VPH. “Some dogs form stones multiple times in their lifetime, despite ordinary precautions being taken to prevent them.”
Symptoms of Kidney Stones in Dogs
“Kidney stones can occur without showing any clinical signs and can be incidental findings on abdominal radiographs or ultrasound,” says Dr. Ashley Rossman DVM, CVA, a licensed veterinarian at Glen Oak Dog & Cat Hospital in Chicago.
While kidney stones can sometimes present without traditional symptoms, some signs to look out for include fever, abdominal discomfort, blood in the urine, lack of appetite, vomiting, fatigue, and either increased or decreased urine production.
“Some stones called struvite stones are often associated with urinary tract infections,” Dr. Rossman continues. “These infections can make patients extremely uncomfortable and cause blood to be seen in the urine, increased frequency of urination, straining to urinate and foul-smelling urine.”
Other symptoms associated with kidney stones in dogs include pain, discomfort, and painful or difficult-to-pass urination.
“Patients can become extremely sick if they have a stone that is blocking urine flow, causing painful inflammation and potential kidney failure,” Dr. Rossman explains.
Causes of Kidney Stones in Dogs
Fatigue may be a sign of kidney stones in dogs. Photography © 19msa05 | iStock / Getty Images Plus.
Similar to how kidney stones form in people, kidney stones in dogs usually form due to some kind of imbalance — an overproduction of materials in the urine that’s responsible for forming kidney stones, such as calcium. Urinary tract infections are also frequently linked to kidney stone formations.
“Metabolic kidney stones, those stones formed due to some blood or urinary imbalance, are more common in dogs than stones caused by urinary tract infections,” says Dr. Stevens, who you can follow on Instagram @theinstapetvet.
“Calcium oxalate is one of the most common types of kidney stones in dogs, and is common in the bladder, too,” Dr. Stevens adds.
Other causes of kidney stones in dogs could include high-alkaline diets that result in urine with a higher pH, congenital abnormalities, metabolic disorders and diseases that promote urine retention, according to Dr. Stevens.
What’s the Prognosis for Kidney Stones in Dogs?
Just as with most other illnesses, the prognosis of kidney stones in dogs fluctuates from case to case.
“The prognosis varies widely, from good to grave, depending on how long the stone has been present and whether it’s caused damage to your dog’s kidney function or not,” Dr. Stevens adds.
Diagnosing Kidney Stones in Dogs
If you recognize any of the above symptoms in your dog, consider bringing your pet to the veterinarian for further analysis and diagnosis. Vets are able to diagnose kidney stones in dogs using special equipment, including an ultrasound.
“Modern diagnostic equipment such as radiographs and ultrasounds are most commonly used to diagnose kidney stones,” explains Dr. Rossman.
“Sometimes we come across [kidney stones] incidentally when x-raying something else,” says Dr. Stevens. “But in other cases when the dog is showing some or all of the symptoms listed above, we run a series of diagnostic tests. These include complete blood count (CBC), blood chemistry with electrolytes, urinalysis, urine culture with susceptibility and abdominal radiographs (x-rays).”
Treating Kidney Stones in Dogs — If They’re Mild
As mentioned above, kidney stones in dogs range from mild inconveniences to serious medical issues. In some cases, kidney stones in dogs can be left alone and the dog eventually passes the stones organically.
“Stones that are not causing clinical signs can be left in place and monitored by a veterinarian,” Dr. Rossman explains.
Treating Kidney Stones in Dogs — If They’re Serious
However, there are many cases when kidney stones in dogs need serious medical attention.
“Struvite stones that are not causing an obstruction can be treated with medical management,” Dr. Rossman continues. “For example, prescription food can help to dissolve the stones. If the stone is calcium oxalate in origin, surgical intervention is needed to remove the stone if it is causing problems for the dog. Surgical intervention and lithotripsy are the primary methods used to remove kidney stones.”
Surgical intervention and lithotripsy aren’t the only methods used to remove kidney stones in dogs. In cases that can be managed by conservative treatments, sometimes a combo of antibiotics, diet changes and water can do the trick. But in other cases, the process of completely dissolving kidney stones can often take months, according to Dr. Stevens.
“Any early reduction in size is a good start,” Dr. Stevens explains. “For bigger stones or those that do not respond well to conservative treatment, surgical removal is recommended.”
How to Manage and Monitor Kidney Stones in Dogs
If your dog is suffering from kidney stones, there are several things you can do to make your pet more comfortable. Please always consult a vet before changing any aspect of your dog’s lifestyle.
“Fresh water should always be available to a pet,” offers Dr. Rossman. “The water should not be treated with water softeners. Owners should monitor pets for signs of urinary tract infections such as foul-smelling urine, bloody urine, straining to urinate or difficulty urinating.”
Reducing mineral concentrations is key to dissolving kidney stones and in turn, preventing them from fully forming. In order to do this, increased water intake is crucial.
“Increasing water intake makes the urine more dilute and should reduce the amount of mineral available to form a stone,” concludes Dr. Stevens. “Your vet would also want to do regular re-checks with x-rays or ultrasound.”

CHOOSING PET INSURANCE MAY BE DIFFICULT, BUT IT CAN BE DONE
What is pet insurance? Pet insurance is an actual financial product which helps to pay for the medical expense of your pets. It is much like health insurance for humans in a few ways.
Tumblr media
For instance, both health insurance and pet health insurance use coinsurance and deductibles to determine just how much you’ll pay out-of Pocket for medical expenses. The deductibles can be low for dogs and cats, but can be very high for larger sized pets such as dogs. In addition, the deductibles may vary depending on the plan. Some plans have no deductibles, while others may have extremely high deductibles. So choosing pet insurance may be a balancing act between cost effectiveness and adequate coverage.
Another factor to consider when choosing pet insurance is the availability of “out-of-pocket” or deductible amounts. A “deductible”” is the amount you must pay out of pocket before your insurance kicks in to pay for any treatment. Most plans have a deductible amount that you must meet before coverage kicks in. And in fact, if you ever fall behind on your deductible payments your insurance company will not cover any costs until you settle your balance.
One more factor to consider when choosing pet insurance is whether you want a policy which provides coverage for both vet care and preventative care or one solely for vet care. There are a couple benefits of a policy which covers preventative care in addition to vet care. Your monthly premiums for this type of policy may be a bit higher but the cost of annual veterinary checkups and treatments will be substantially lower than paying for health insurance. On the other hand, if you do not have health insurance and would like to pay for preventative veterinary care out-of-pocked, the savings account will provide you with a convenient way to do so.
Finally, another important factor to consider when choosing pet insurance plans is whether you want your pet to be covered under the plan which is recommended by the American Pet Products Manufacturers Association (APMP). The American Pet Products Manufacturers Association recommends that pet owners purchase animal health cover plans that cover preventive care, diagnostic care, vaccinations, x-rays, and annual exams. For routine care, pet owners should choose a plan that meets their needs. Although the costs of annual vet checkups and other services may be high for uninsured pet owners, it is still advisable to purchase a plan that will cover preventative costs in the event that you veterinarian will have to perform the services without having cash in your pocket.
Other factors to consider when choosing pet insurance may include whether you are concerned about the age or breed of your animal and what veterinary services you will want to be covered. There are a number of plans available which offer coverage for a variety of animals such as dogs, cats, birds, horses, and many other pets. To find a list of companies that offer the services you want to cover, conduct a search on the Internet. A variety of comparison charts and quotes will be provided to help you make the right choice of choosing coverage that will meet your requirements.
