alright everyone, here's the plot explanation of the story:

the year is 1986, and the apocalypse is here; it isn't a zombie apocalypse, but a different kind of apocalypse. the chernobyl incident still occurred, but the radioactive gas that was released turned the civilians nearby into these huge and horrid monsters. when a monster approaches a person, it either just straight up kills them in a gruesome way, or if it makes eye contact with the person, it slowly and quite painfully turns the person into one of the monsters. many people have been able to take precaution, including a group of four families: the burton family, the hammett family, the ulrich family, and the hetfield family. the burton family consists of parents jan and ray and their three children, connie, cliff, and whitley (their oldest, scott, died years before); the hammett family consists of mother chefela and her three children, rick, kirk, and jennifer; the ulrich family consists of parents torben and lone and their son, lars; the hetfield family consists of four children, chris, dave, james, and deanna (james and deanna were blood related, but chris and dave were their half siblings). the reason these four families are connected is because cliff, kirk, lars and james all came together to create a band back in 1981. cliff and kirk were originally from san francisco and were next door neighbors and childhood friends - though, kirk really got along better with cliff's little sister, whitley - while james had moved there from berkley a few years back with his parents, who are now both gone, and his siblings. lars, though, moved to san francisco from denmark back in 1980; they all met each other at a few bars multiple times and quickly became friends, and they then started their band, metallica, in 1981. when the apocalypse of the nomad killers - that's what the monsters had been named by the general public - came, though, all four families came together and escaped to a nearby forest, because nomad killers can't go into forests for some reason. though, they all have to be able to get there first, which would be hard because the nomad killers are fast, plus they have to occasionally go out of there hiding spot in the forest and get essentials from abandoned grocery stores. plus, they need to find out the weak spot of a nomad killer so they can let other families know and spread it all around the world, then get the nomad killers killed.
