Green Behind The Ears
MYENERGI produces a list of green energy suppliers, wherein "green energy" is defined as energy that is produced by “hydroelectricity, solar power and wind power”. According to MYENERGI you can ask for renewable energy from a number of suppliers including, British Gas, EON, EDF and nPower.
Since the end of 1991 renewable energy has risen from just 2% of all electricity generation to over 40%, with December 2023 being the “15th month in a row where zero-carbon generation produced more than fossil fuel generation." (nationalgrid: 17/01/24)
Wonderful news for the environment: and wonderful news for the consumer, or so politicians would have us believe.
“Cheap electricity, clean air and insulated homes: Sunak outlines green financial 'vision'. (LBC: 03/11/21)
But here is the BIG CON.
1. The electricity you use at home comes from the ONE mains electricity cable in your street. There are NOT multiple cables outside your house in the same way there are different internet provider cables. The electricity supply you use in your house is the same as the electricity supply your neighbour uses regardless whether your supplier is “Green” or not.
“It's not possible to direct 'renewable' electrons to some homes and 'non-renewable' electrons to others.” (Which: How Green is your energy tariff?” 27/09/19
2.  Despite gas powered power stations providing under half of the total electricity generated in the UK, in recent years it “set electricity costs 84% of the time.” (ULC News: 06/09/22)
Renewable green electricity generation is far cheaper than electricity generated by fossil fuels, yet it is the price of gas-generated electricity that determines what we are charged for ALL our domestic electricity.
Despite paying lip service to “free markets” and “competition” the UK energy market is rigged in favour of the generators.
The UK operates a “marginal cost pricing system” and under this rigged system:
“…the wholesale price of electricity is set by the most expensive method needed to meet demand… In each half-hour trading period, each electricity generator bids the price it will accept to generate electricity, according to how expensive the electricity is to produce.
The bids are accepted in ‘merit order’ until the demand for electricity is met; the cheapest first, and the most expensive last. However, the price of all units of electricity is set according to the bid price of the most expensive unit needed to meet projected demand. (House of Commons Library: Why is cheap   renewable electricity so expensive on the wholesale market? 14/09/23)
In other words even if 90% of electricity demand is met by cheap renewable methods, ALL units of electricity are charged at the higher cost of fossil fuel generated electricity.
The crippling cost of domestic energy has led to 3.5 million households being in fuel poverty, with many in arrears and unable to pay for the energy they have used.  The energy suppliers claim they are “owed” £3billion in unpaid bills and are adding a levying a £16 on ALL households to cover their losses.
So, although green energy is much cheaper to produce than that generated by traditional fossil fuel do not expect to see cost coming down anytime soon.

The Rise of Commercial Electric Vans in the UK
In recent years, the shift towards greener transportation has accelerated, particularly in the business sector. A growing number of businesses are adopting commercial electric vans to minimize their carbon footprint while optimizing operational efficiency. Electric vans provide a cost-effective and environmentally friendly alternative to traditional diesel or petrol-powered vehicles. The advancement of battery technology and charging infrastructure has made commercial electric van solutions more accessible to a wide range of industries. This transition is not only helping companies meet their sustainability goals but also reducing long-term operational costs.
Why Electric Commercial Vans Are the Future of Business Fleets
The demand for electric commercial vans is on the rise, thanks to their environmental benefits and reduced operational costs. These vans offer lower maintenance and fuel costs compared to their combustion-engine counterparts. For businesses, this means significant savings over time. The growth of electric commercial van fleets is also driven by government incentives and regulations aimed at reducing emissions. As more businesses look to transition to electric vehicles (EVs), these vans offer a versatile and eco-friendly solution that can meet the demands of various industries, from delivery services to logistics.
Small EV Vans: Ideal for Urban Deliveries
For companies operating in urban environments, small EV vans provide the perfect solution for navigating congested streets and meeting delivery demands. These vehicles are designed for efficiency, with compact sizes that allow them to maneuver through tight spaces while offering ample cargo capacity. Small EV vans are particularly appealing for last-mile deliveries, where the need for quick and environmentally friendly transport is crucial. They are also a great choice for small businesses looking to reduce their carbon emissions without sacrificing functionality or efficiency.
The Growing Importance of UK E-Van Fleets
As the UK aims to meet its ambitious climate goals, the development of UK e-van fleets is becoming a cornerstone of the nation’s transition to greener transportation. Companies across the country are investing in electric vans to meet both regulatory requirements and customer expectations for sustainable business practices. UK e-van fleets are not only contributing to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions but also benefiting from lower operating costs and government incentives. This trend is expected to continue growing, especially as charging infrastructure improves and the range of electric vehicles expands.
Exploring the Range of Electric Vans in the UK
The market for electric vans UK is expanding rapidly, offering businesses a wide range of options tailored to their specific needs. Whether it's for small businesses or large-scale delivery fleets, the variety of electric vans UK ensures there is a model to suit every requirement. These vehicles are designed to deliver optimal performance, reliability, and energy efficiency. With advancements in battery technology, electric vans in the UK are now able to travel longer distances on a single charge, making them a practical solution for businesses looking to make the switch to sustainable transport.
Key Benefits of Adopting Electric Commercial Vehicles
Businesses that transition to electric commercial vehicles enjoy several key benefits. One of the most notable advantages is the significant reduction in fuel costs. With electricity being far cheaper than diesel or petrol, companies can see immediate savings in their operating expenses. Additionally, maintenance costs are reduced due to the simpler mechanics of electric vehicles, which have fewer moving parts and don't require regular oil changes or exhaust system repairs.
Moreover, electric commercial vans contribute to lower emissions, helping companies meet environmental regulations and demonstrate their commitment to sustainability. This can improve a company's reputation and appeal to customers who value eco-friendly practices.
Incentives Driving the Adoption of Electric Vans
Government incentives and support are playing a pivotal role in encouraging businesses to adopt electric vans. In the UK, for example, there are grants available to reduce the cost of purchasing electric vans, along with tax breaks and exemptions from congestion charges for electric vehicle owners. These incentives make it more financially viable for companies to upgrade their fleets to electric options.
Additionally, many local governments are creating low-emission zones in cities, where only electric or low-emission vehicles are allowed. For businesses operating in these areas, adopting electric vans is becoming essential to comply with regulations and avoid penalties.
Charging Infrastructure for Electric Vans in the UK
One of the main concerns for businesses considering a switch to electric vans is the availability of charging infrastructure. Fortunately, the UK is rapidly expanding its network of charging stations, making it easier for businesses to recharge their vehicles during the day or overnight. Public charging stations are becoming more widespread, and many businesses are installing private charging points to ensure their vehicles are always ready to go.
Fast-charging technology is also improving, allowing electric vans to be charged quickly and efficiently, which minimizes downtime for commercial operations. This growing infrastructure support is making electric vans a more practical and appealing option for businesses across the UK.
The Future of Electric Vans in the UK
Looking ahead, the adoption of electric vans is expected to continue growing as the UK moves closer to its net-zero emissions targets. Innovations in battery technology and charging infrastructure will make electric vans even more reliable and convenient for businesses. With increasing pressure on companies to reduce their environmental impact, electric vans provide a sustainable and cost-effective solution for the future of commercial transportation.

In the United Kingdom, classic hits are making a comeback. More and more people are leaving their vehicles stranded on the side of the road as scrappage charges remain high. The number of reported abandoned cars in 2016 was 147,616 compared to 40,876 in 2012, three times more, according to an article published in the Telegraph.
Aside from the apparent reason to get rid of that old, undesirable car, you also have some responsibility for how it is disposed of. Hiring a professional car scrap service like Money for scrap cars is the best option when your vehicle is no longer roadworthy. In this article, we will go over the main advantages of using car scrap services.
Additional space for the garage
An old trash car is more than just an eyesore; it also takes up space on your property that could be better used. Your garage will have plenty of room for the new car you purchased after taking your old one to a scrapyard. If the old vehicle was leaning in the backyard, you could utilise that room for a trampoline, a swing set, or even more gardening area.
Helps the economy
The economy gains from auto recycling and Peterborough Old Vehicles Scrapping since recycling metal is cheaper than mining ore. This is because reusing metal requires nothing more than melting and shaping it into a new form. Recycling companies will have more money for other vital things, like more significant employee benefits, when they cut production costs using waste automobiles.
Fantastic for Mother Earth
According to the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries, there is a 300–500 million tonne reduction in greenhouse gas emissions due to recycling scrap metal. Manufacturing products from recycled metal releases less greenhouse gas than producing new metals. Reducing your carbon impact is another benefit of scrapping your old car.
Reusing and recycling the metal from destroyed cars helps keep the global metal supply minimal.
Comfort And Surety
Deterioration in a vehicle's reliability over time can increase the likelihood of failures and compromise its safety. You can free up space in your garage for a newer, more dependable vehicle by scrapping your old one.
Compliance and Regulations
Disposal of used automobiles in an allowed manner is mandatory under UK law. You may rest assured that you will not be subject to fines or penalties for illegal disposal if you take your vehicle to a scrappage specialist like Money for scrap cars.
Certificate of Destruction
An official Certificate of Destruction (CoD) is issued when an automobile is scrapped at a certified facility. According to this document, your vehicle has been legally disposed of, and you are no longer liable for its upkeep. If you do this, you can shield yourself from future legal troubles involving the car.
Recycling
Donating your old vehicle for recycling helps keep the recycling industry afloat by supplying a constant supply of cars that have reached the end of their useful life. Thus, the need for fresh raw materials is diminished, and sustainable resource management is bolstered.
Encouraging the Use Of Greener Vehicles
Newer, more eco-friendly vehicles, like hybrids or electric cars, are getting increasingly popular as older, less fuel-efficient ones are scrapped.
Conclusion
Among the many waste management services we provide here at Money for Scrapping Cars is the practical and quick scrapping of old vehicles. Because of our status as an authorised treatment facility, we are prepared to provide services that adhere to the Environment Agency's high standards of sustainability, quality, and safety.

Did you know that solid fuel heating appliances with wood or pellets must comply with current Ecodesign regulations? Keep reading to understand what this implies and why it's beneficial to meeting sustainable goals. For Europe, 2022 was a year with notable inflation. The current socio-economic situation produced supply shortages directly linked to our pockets. Despite measures put in place by European governments, the prices of essential resources such as electricity and natural gas increased, reaching peaks of up to £1585.82/MWhvi in the UK electricity market. As a response to soaring prices, consumers decided to invest in solid fuel heating systems and appliances for their households. This rising trend continues to grow from last winter, when users began opting for cheaper materials for heat generation to reduce long-term costs. In fact, the demand for wood stoves in Europe has doubled this 2022 compared to previous years. However, as solid fuel heating systems gain popularity, it's important to know that not all can be legally marked or installed. Starting from January 1, 2022 they'll have to comply with Ecodesign 2015/1185 and 2015/1189 Regulation. Solid fuel heating Solid fuel heating appliances burn wood (firewood, wood chips); agglomerated compounds (pellets, briquettes) or mineral coals (anthracite, coke, bituminous, lignite, hard coal, peat) as fuel. They are typically equipped with a water heating system to distribute the generated heat into several rooms. Ecodesign is a concept that gathers all design requirements to ensure that products and services can improve their environmental performance throughout their life cycle. Its first appearance was in the 90s due to the growing need to mitigate environmental impact in manufacturing and the demand for environmentally friendly products. For solid fuel appliances Ecodesign applies to solid fuel appliances use for domestic use, such as wood and pellet stoves, inserts, stoves and domestic boilers up to 50 kW. Ecodesign aims to use solid fuels to promote the sustainable and environmentally friendly use of biomass. All appliances that comply with this norm have to ensure efficient combustion and reduce all gas and particles emitted into the atmosphere, as much as possible. From the consumer's point of view, Ecodesign is their only option, since son-compliant equipment can no longer enter the market. Since they require a greater R&D investment, the cost of these type of appliances have an additional added value and cost. But in the long-run they could bring about savings due to their performance, since they are more energy-efficient and consume less fuel. Before Ecodesign regulation came into force, solid fuel appliance CE marking requirements for certification were very loosely defined. However, starting from January 1, 2022 new emission and performance parameters also entered into force due to regulation, requiring manufacturers to adapt their product catalog to the norm. When it comes to adapting these appliances to Ecodesign, a major challenge is reducing carbon monoxide (CO) emissions. While CE marking sets the limit of 1.0% or 12,500 mg/m3, Ecodesign regulation sets it at 0.12% or 1,500 mg/m3 (values referenced to 13% of O2 for equipment with a closed door). Appliances also have to abide to additional requirements related to total organic carbon (TOC), nitrogen oxide (NOx) and particulate emissions. Ecolabelling and Ecodesign go hand in hand. Complying with Ecodesign allows you to obtain ecolabelling. So, what is ecolabelling? As the name suggests, a label that provides energy consumption and other technical information about a product, in this case a heating appliance. This allows the consumer to easily compare characteristics before buying the product. As a man
datory requirement in the European market, all solid fuel heating appliances must include the informative label with their corresponding energy category. Before ecolabelling, manufacturers put voluntary quality marks on their products. In France, the Flameberk scale subsidises appliance purchases depending on their category. Spain also wanted to implement something similar with the AECEC mark, but it hasn't been as relevant as the Flameberk scale. Since January 1, 2022, ecolabelling is mandatory for this type of equipment, but many manufacturers are still adapting their product catalogs because it is not a simple process. Acquiring proper testing results is a requirement for eco-labelling. Applus+ Laboratories offers testing services for CE marking compliance with Ecodesign and Ecolabeling Directive: performance, power and emissions tests, as well as safety tests on biomass equipment (stoves, fire extinguishers, fire extinguishers, etc.). The minute you respond to a post about gas stations with "Well, in the UK…" you've already lost. I'm sorry. You have. I'm a Brit living in Los Angeles and the way the UK and US think about gas/petrol are wildly different.
In the UK, petrol stations tend to sit alone. They're not at intersections. They are probably near other things - possibly a supermarket, but more often than not they're just near other stuff that nearby. (Our local petrol station growing up was an Esso that was next to a hotel and across the road from a Vauxhall dealership). They're also solitary, unless you're at a service station in which case there's probably another one on the other side of the motorway.
In the US, however, gas stations are often grouped together at intersections. It's not uncommon to see a Shell on one side of the street and a 76 on the other, or a Mobil over here and a Sinclair over there. Also ou might find 3 or 4 at service stations, with two on one side of the freeway and two on the other. Maybe there's another one a little further down a nearby road, too.
Part of this is because - and this is crucial - Americans don't have roundabouts, or at least they're nowhere near as common as they are in the UK. So turning around at an intersection is a massive pain in the balls, hence the need for multiple gas stations.
Gas is also cheaper in the US than it is in the UK. That's probably a factor. Americans think nothing of driving for 1-2 hours to get to a place, while if you're doing that in the UK you're probably planning on spending the night somewhere that isn't home.
I would like to remind people like our British friend here that just because your country does it one way, doesn't mean every country does it that way. Sometimes countries is different. Sometimes you order a lemonade and get a Sprite. Sometimes you ask for biscuits and get flavorless scones. And sometimes the way one country drives is different from another, and it's a bit more nuanced than which side of the road you're on. It's fine. Really.
in the US, you'll often see two gas stations across the street from the other. this can seem odd, or even like a design flaw, but the reason for this is to better accommodate drivers, without requiring people to turn around or drive through traffic to reach a station. there's a reason for it! and that reason is poor street design

EVs have a number of advantages over traditional petrol or diesel cars. They emit zero emissions, so they’re much better for the environment. They’re also cheaper to run, since you don’t have to keep buying petrol or diesel.
However, one of the main disadvantages of EVs has been their range. Until recently, most EVs could only travel for a few hundred miles before needing to be recharged, which made them impractical for long journeys.
Fortunately, this is starting to change. A number of companies are now producing long-range EVs, which can travel for hundreds of miles on a single charge.
One of these companies is LCV Centre Ltd, a commercial vehicle dealership in Norfolk, UK. LCV Centre Ltd recently launched its own range of long-range electric vehicles, which are perfect for businesses that need to transport goods over long distances.
The vehicles have a range of up to 400 miles, so they can easily handle long journeys. They’re also much cheaper to run than traditional petrol or diesel vehicles, so you’ll save money in the long-term.
If you’re looking for a long-range electric vehicle, LCV Centre Ltd is the perfect place to start your search.
Welcome to the LCV Centre blog!

The Installation of Electric Car Charging Points
If you are considering having an electric vehicle charger installed, it is crucial to take into consideration the cost per kWh, as well as the installation requirements prior to hiring an installation company.
Before you decide on an installation service, make sure that you have a responsible adult in your home to oversee the installation. You should also ensure that the space you intend to put the charger in is free of any obstructions. It is important to understand which way to run the cable from your electricity source to the charging point.
Cost per kWh
The price of electric vehicle chargers within the UK is rising. As of last month the average electric car owner will have the cost of £174 to recharge it for seven hundred and forty miles per year. This represents a cost of 4p/kWh at night and 18p per kWh during the daytime. However, that price is likely to increase as more people shift to electric vehicles.
The cost for charging your electric car in the UK is dependent on the charging network. Certain charging networks charge according to the kWh. For instance, Instavolt's charging network, should you need to charge your vehicle in central London the cost is between 40p and 50p per kWh. Instavolt is the biggest charge network within the UK is recently increasing its prices.
Although most charging points in public cost money, some are free and can be accessed for free at the supermarkets. The charging stations are frequent in hotels and in cities. But, the majority of charging points will cost a tiny connection fee , which varies from one provider to another however, it is usually less than one pound per kWh.
Despite the ever-growing costs of gas and electricity, charging your electric car is much cheaper than fuelling a diesel petrol car. It will cost £326 less annually than running a petrol or diesel vehicle. As a result, it represents good value for money for the owner of an electric vehicle.
Based on the area you live in, the cost of charging the electric car can differ. The most rapid charging stations are typically found in service stations on motorways. These rapid chargers allow drivers to charge their Tesla in less than 40 minutes. However, some rapid chargers are limited in time, which is designed to keep them open to other users.
Electric car chargers play a crucial element in the lives of drivers especially when driving for long distances and do not have a home charger. Use the Public Charging Calculator to determine the price for charging your electric vehicle at different speeds.
Things to consider when choosing an EV charging installation service
A reliable and reputable installer to install an EV charging point is essential for the security and reliability of this system. Additionally, a trustworthy company has the expertise to correctly install the charger and ensure conformity with national regulations. Additionally, a reputable installer will provide an official copy of their charger compliance certificate, which can be required by certain countries.
A commercial or residential electric vehicle charging station is a job for a specialist installer. The most skilled installers will have a deep understanding about EV charging regulations and the technical specifications. Furthermore, they'll be able to use apps for charging smartly. Some European governments demand that new EV chargers have smart functions. The cost of an EV charge installation program will depend on the type of installation and the location of the charging station.
The UK government has a program for workplaces to promote the purchase and the installation of EV charging infrastructure. This scheme can help businesses reduce the initial costs associated with the charging infrastructure. However, building charging infrastructure is just the beginning. After installation, chargers require to be maintained in order to ensure the best performance and durability. Incorrect chargers could affect worker productivity and operations directive.
In the UK the installation of EV charging systems must be completed by a qualified electrician. Even if you are an experienced third-party electrician it is recommended to hire an accredited installer to complete the installation. You should always remember to seek advice from the authorities prior to installing an electric vehicle charging station. In addition, ensure that the area is suitable for installing an EV charger. For instance, it should be located near to the electricity meter, as it is the simplest and fastest method to install it. The process of installation can be as short as two hours.
The cost of EV charger installation can be quite high, therefore selecting a reliable and affordable service is vital. However, the cost to install EV charging stations can be prohibitively expensive for small businesses. This is why businesses must think about the possibility of upgrading their electrical infrastructure in the future and make sure they provide enough space to accommodate additional chargers.
Requirements for installing a dedicated EV charger
There are numerous requirements that must be fulfilled prior to an EV charger is installed in the UK. First of all, the place must be suitable for off-street parking. The most suitable locations where charging stations can be found are garages and driveways. There are a variety of technical requirements to be fulfilled.
In some cases, the charger must be linked to a 3-phase electricity source. This is rare for UK homes and is needed to connect a dedicated EV charging point. It must also be water-proof and wall-mounted. It should also have the proper power and voltage output, and support the minimum 22 kW charging current.
Based on the needs of your business, you might need an expert to install your new charger. Some installers will carry out an on-site survey. This involves asking a few questions to make sure all is in order. The installer needs to know the location of the charging point, and also the route to the power source. Additionally, they might require information about what you'd like to do if you're looking to make use of smart chargers.
In addition, there are other conditions which must be met prior to installing a dedicated EV charger to be installed in the United Kingdom. The final installation has to be protected according to IEC 60364-7-722. The final installation has to be CE-marked and conform to the requirements of UK legislation. The equipment used to charge must display detailed precautions for security.
The installers must be registered electricians and have the necessary experience and qualifications. They should be registered with a relevant industry body and should be competent to approve the installation. If you're an electrician who is registered, the client can make a claim for £350 by the Government to cover the installation costs. However, be aware that only certain kinds of EV chargers qualify to receive the grant.
Additionally, the government issued new building regulations that promote EV adoption. These modifications are helping the UK to record high levels of EV adoption. While the overall market for new cars in the country is falling but registrations of battery electric vehicles have been increasing to 158.1 percent, leading to record monthly market shares.
What are the requirements for installing a Smart charger
Mariordo Mario Roberto Duran Ortiz, CC BY-SA 3.0, via Wikimedia Commons
In the UK, smart car chargers are obliged to meet a set of requirements for minimum specifications. This will help to lessen the strain on power grids by ensuring charging is lower in intensity in addition to being less likely create high demand for electricity. It also permits the perfect utilisation of alternative energy sources in the power system. The new regulations, aimed to improve the experience of charging, are being brought in via UK government.
A smart vehicle charger should be user-friendly, and with an intuitive interface. It also has to be safe for the users and avoid any damage to the electric grid. Although new charging stations have to meet these requirements, those that were constructed prior to the 30th of June 2022 will be exempted.
Installing the smart car charger is easy and requires no tools. However, consumers will need to give a wireless password to the installer in order to allow remote access. The electrician will connect the charging device to the electricity supply and then test it. Once the installation is completed, the customer will be able to regulate the charging process and track the usage of energy.
Smart car chargers could be costly. The average price of the charging point ranges from £550 to around £3000, based on its tech. In the UK it is estimated that the cost of installing an intelligent car charger is in the region of £949 to the 7kW model. However, it will be less expensive depending on the subsidies offered by car manufacturers.
The government has offered incentives in order to promote the installation of smart car chargers. There's even a government loan for smart car charging systems. It is called the Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme (EVHS) is a project which will assist EV drivers afford the home charging systems.
Installing a smart car charger requires a qualified electrician. They must be knowledgeable of the wiring regulations in BS7671, is insured and registered with the relevant authority.

Market for multimode fibers to grow at higher CAGR during forecast period
Multimode fiber optic cables have larger cores (45–50 microns) compared with single-mode fibers. The large diameter allows many paths for the rays of light to travel through the fiber. The large diameter of multimode fibers also allows for more optical power to be launched in the fiber allowing for greater light gathering capacity and facilitates the use of cheaper electro-optic devices or interrogators. Although multimode fibers have a lower range of detection compared to single-mode fibers, they can eliminate signal fading within that distance. Hence, the market for multimode fibers is expected to grow at a higher CAGR during the forecast period.
Market for oil & gas industry to grow at highest CAGR during forecast period
New pipeline projects are also being deployed worldwide on a large scale and DAS technology has proven to be ideal and cost effective for long-distance monitoring. Due to the increasing deployment of DAS systems for pipeline monitoring, the industry is also expected to have the highest growth during the forecast period. DAS systems can monitor the entire length of an oil & gas pipeline using telecommunications grade fiber optic cables. The market for pipeline integrity holds a larger share due to the larger distance covered using DAS systems compared to that for oilfield services. The fiber optic cable deployed for pipelines can stretch to thousands of kilometers compared to their deployment in oilfields, which is only a few hundred kilometers. Also due to the resilience of DAS systems in harsh operating environments, they are quickly replacing traditional monitoring solutions such as electrical and quartz-based sensors.
Americas to hold largest share of DAS market during 2020–2025
The DAS market is dominated by the Americas, with North America contributing to the majority share of the market compared to South America. In North America, the US is a key market for DAS systems, accounting for the largest share in the region during the forecast period. According to the US Energy Information Administration (EIA), the US ranked first in oil & gas production. Canada is the second-largest market for DAS systems in North America and according to the EIA, Canada ranked fifth in terms of oil & gas production in 2019. South America has some of the world’s largest oil & gas reserves located in Argentina and Venezuela. In South America, state-owned companies oversee the majority of oil & gas production in their respective countries. Hence, the Americas is expected to hold the largest market for DAS systems.
