Holidays Packages for Bangkok, Thailand - Bargain Late Holidays
When you first arrive for Bangkok holidays, it is easy to be taken aback by the sheer number of things happening: the smells, the heat, the sounds and the views. The city is very safe, and holidays to Bangkok are extremely well-suited for backpackers, couples and groups.
Rather than taking the same development route as other large cities in South-East Asia, Bangkok has retained authentic markets and canals, and offers a traditional culture with large places of worship throughout the sprawling city. Take a visit to Wat Pho, which hosts a famous massage school and, interestingly, the world’s largest image of Buddha reclining. Close by is Wat Arun in Thonburi, a huge 70 metre tall traditional temple that was stunningly decorated with broken Chinese porcelain in the interior. If the beauty of this temple impresses you, you should also visit the Golden Mount in Rattanakosin.
There are also many museums that explore Thai history. The National Museum and the Museum of Siam are worth a visit during holidays to Bangkok; they give a wonderful overview of the area and how it was created. The National Gallery is at the forefront of Bangkok’s small, yet flourishing art community; however, stay on the lookout for smaller galleries that display amazing works of art around the city.
When you have had your fill of temples, religion and history on your Bangkok holiday, it is time to shop. Amongst the local market places are a number of high-end designer boutiques, and a couple of shopping malls that offer the latest fashions at extremely competitive rates. Visit the MBK, the Siam Centre and the traditional tailors around Bangkok to get the most out of shopping during your holidays in Bangkok. The night markets in Silom are worth heading to for the experience.
If you feel like a break from the busy city, Lumphini Park in Silom is a fantastic place for a picnic or just to watch the world pass by. For something a little more involved, try Santichaiprakarn Park along the Chao Phraya River; it is often occupied by locals who practice juggling and other tricks. You will find a lot of western backpackers in this area also. Cycle tours are affordable around the quieter areas of east Bangkok and are a great way to experience what the city has to offer.
Finally, it is worth noting that a Bangkok holiday would not be complete without taking part in its fantastically diverse nightlife. There is something for all sorts of people, from cabaret to nightclubs. Try Siam Square for the best nightlife. There is plenty of other entertainment available in the city. However, Muay Thai takes place at the Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Silom; entry is available for around £10- £20 and regular fights are scheduled.
