A sober, modest and compulsively honest people-pleaser who would never use his looks to manipulate anyone.

A small, non-descript straight guy who wears cheap clothes and drinks instant coffee.

Rules: Write who you think your character’s opposite would be!

Original Adrasteia (and Lilia?):

Ironically, she kind of already has a canon opposite. I hadn't intended it that way necessarily, but when envisioning who would be her exact and total opposite, I realized I already have one in Lilia, lol. Lilia is kind where Adrasteia is cold. While Adrasteia is conniving and manipulative, Lilia is honest and earnest. Adrasteia is largely jaded, with tiny spots of vulnerability that she desperately hides and buries. Lilia is somewhat naive and open, despite her upbringing, with rare moments of strength. Not even she always knows what buttons need to be pressed to set her off- essentially, the quintessential "perfect female protagonist" seen in many fantasy romances. As such, Adrasteia is her "perfect villain".

Cassius:

His opposite would be someone who comes across as awful or mean or off-putting, but is actually really nice and genuine. Probably socially awkward, a really bad liar, and not very conventionally attractive. Also poor (omg same). Someone largely unambitious and go-with-the-flow. They'd also be pretty bad at fighting, and probably doesn't have magic.

The Whitehalls (This is multiple, but honestly they're all very similar):

Charitable, good-natured people who just want to see the world become a better place day by day. Loves their family members and wants them to just be healthy and happy, wherever they end up in life. Wouldn't care about social status or politics at all (beyond doing their part to make the world a better place)! Surprisingly good in a fight, very brave people!

Fenris:

A very chill, calm, open person who is super secure in themself and doesn't use false bravado and arrogance as a coping mechanism. Very knowledgeable about the world and has a really good relationship with their family. Has all the love and security they need in life and has clear and realistic goals that they're actually capable of achieving. No magic, but they're academically gifted and has lots of genuine friends. Probably really self-disciplined.

Mara: I think her inverse is Hettie. Super positive, always goes out of her way to help people, smiles constantly. Wears dresses in bright colors, enjoys talking to people.

Hettie: And of course that means that her inverse is Mara. Moody, short-tempered, permanent scowl. Wears dark clothing (mostly blouses w/trousers), stomps around. Quick to judge people and very unforgiving.

Adrin: Not at all emo. We don’t do that here. Positive, always finds something to smile about. Travels the country as a Robin Hood type of guy, handles his emotions in a healthy and functional way. Hates cats, loves horses.

Oliver: The most responsible man you’ll ever meet. Sober, takes his job very seriously and never questions an order. Level-headed, rational thinker. Takes pride in his family legacy, basically a copy of his father. Cold, calculating and ruthless.

Lasya: Doesn’t care about anyone but herself, floats through life without a sense of responsibility. Impulsive, violent at times. Standoffish, doesn’t care about personal connections. Instead of fighting with the other bandits she would go full vigilante just to prove a point.

Kashi: Ummmm...Chihuahua 😂 Likely someone that's charismatic but you can't tell what they're thinking, someone that talks a good game but struggles to perform, and likely someone that has about three places they hit on a regular basis that never really strays far from home.

Layla: Kashi More seriously: mean, deadly, and uncaring. Her antithesis would likely be a kind of villain.

Rod: Cold, calculating, manipulative without compassion. A different kind of villain. Has minions. Goes through them like a kid goes through Halloween candy. Hates everyone in that very cold, cold way. Or in a very mania way, I'm not sure. I mean...speaking of inverse he would also likely be dumb as a bag of rocks, so. Really more like a cartoon villain than anything else.

Hmmm, how about Lady of Birchgrove characters!

Assuming everything stays the same except their personalities.

Nyx would be shy quiet girl that stuck close to Silvia, never quite brave enough to venture pass the town walls. She's quite comfortable where she is though, since her and Silvia's relationship probably would be less strained.

Silvia would be more laid-back with parenting Nyx, perhaps even pushing her out of her comfort zone. All the while butting heads with who is supposed her most trusted.

Oliver, the loud and proud guard captain, would constantly be in the Lady's business. Or maybe he wouldn't, leaving her to fend for herself.

Chrysta I imagine would be perfectly content staying on her parents' farm, no thirst for adventure or girls challenging her to do what she wants. Hard to tell if she and Nyx would get together.

As a really big of the "characters who are mirrors" / "characters who are foils for each other" dynamics, everyone in my main cast is the inverse of someone else. They come from similar backstories and positions, but the difference in how they react to situations is how they ended up where they currently are.

Julienna and Elanoriel, both abandoned by their godly parent to the whims of mortal kind, and enslaved because of it. Julienna chose to bottle up all of that hatred and resentment, and carve her own path forward through any means necessary, Elanoriel chose to be kind in spite of how she was treated - to continue helping people as she was bid to do.

Nicholas and Rhysand, both raised primarily by their mother in comfort, proposed to be acting guards for the same girl. Where Rhysand pushes her to follow orders and be the example he and the others uphold in their pedestal, Nicholas wants to help her be free of responsibilities and lead the life she wants to have- without interruptions or meddling from the knights.

Draycen and Dianne, both what remains of their respective families, forced to take on the leadership role as kids well before they were ready to do so. Whereas Draycen has taken this in stride, allowing the court his father left behind to do as they please while he wastes time hosting elaborate parties, Dianne has taken a more solitary role in leading her pack and packmates- keeping them in line, keeping them close, and bearing the weight of everything to be done on her shoulders, alone.

Marcus and Alexandria, both taken in and adopted by masters of their fields, raised to be the perfect and obedient right-hands. While Marcus approaches orders with his own judgement and goes as far as directly disobeying them when he believes they've strayed too far, bearing the consequences himself, Alexandria obeys them without question, regardless of who she has to go through to do it.

Her family are lovely people, her life has been on easy mode, she's very tactile with everyone, and she definitely hasn't committed a whole heap of crimes.

RAFE

He's completely sober all the time, he has full respect for the law, no-one is ever scared of him, and he isn't traumatised in the slightest.

GILLEN

He's extremely forgiving, he feels guilty if he hurts anyone, he's totally open about his fears and anxieties, and he's always warm and welcoming.

I’ve been getting more into bg3 while I cope and all I have to say is 1) dread stalker ranger FOREVER (three attacks in the first round!! good god!!)

and 2) astarion is so obviously faking his interest in you at the beginning of his romance. He tells you, when you accept his offer to hook up, that he’s had his eye on you the whole time—meanwhile I’ve had almost nothing but “astarion disapproves” the whole time and ambient “don’t touch me” comments whenever I take control of him. Bro does NOT like anyone, not even the player.

I've chosen a few characters from my WIPs Song of Thorns, Enchanted Illusions, Of Starlight and Beasts, and Supernova Initiative for this one because why not lmao. I tried to really lean into the "polar opposite of the regular character" aspect of this tag game!

(Song of Thorns)

Roselyn Lethia - Would be a selfish loner with no desire for adventure and a love for the status quo

Renn Atrius - His polar opposite self would be a human knight from the royal guard with an adoration of the nobility and a disdain for vampiric fey

Cyriel Staryn - Would be a bounty hunter who specializes in hunting thieves and who strives to upkeep the law

Orianna Whisperleaf - Would be a worldly girl from the capital who is terrified of nature and doesn't care about animals

Prince Alaric - I imagine his "mirror universe" self would be a stereotypical prince who loves masquerades, hunting trips, and mostly basks on his family's sway and power, instead of trying to stop them

Tarrant - His opposite self would be a powerful, sly, silver-tongued mob boss with an obsession with being perceived as sexy or attractive, and who has a tendency to be manipulative

Augustus Grimmure - His mirror self would be a mild-mannered pacifist who is terrified of death and all things morbid, and probably a sorcerer in the Order of Light.
