Chanel N°5 was both my great grandma and my grandmother’s favorite perfume. It is the scent I have been wearing this past week that has grounded me and brought me comfort.

I bought this bottle for my mother Christmas 2022 since my grandmother had passed November 2021. My mother loved this scent but it also made her sad remembering her mom.

We found the box as we slowly clean my mother’s things. I also found my mom’s favorite perfume that gives me comfort too.

Some think this is the old lady perfume, but for me it brings me memories of Maui and my home there. The place I spent summers at, the place of heartbreak and happiness. The place of my bloodline.

This scent grounds me through my grief and remembrance of my family and the mana wahine (powerful women) before me. 💖

How powerful scent can be to bring familiarity, comfort and ground us through our most vulnerable times.
