Travel From Mumbai to Amritsar

A lot of people travel to Amritsar from Mumbai as Amritsar is an important pilgrimage center and also lies in the route for traveling to the famous Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine. The tourist circuit Mumbai — Amritsar — Jammu — Katra Vaishnodevi and back is the favorite among the tourists both foreign and domestic. The rush is peak in the days of summer vacations in the schools in Mumbai in the month of April and May. So it is advised to book the travel tickets well in advance.

There are two modes of transport available

Air Travel

The Raja Sansi airport at Amritsar is about 10 km from the city center, is connected by domestic flights to Delhi, Srinagar and Chandigarh. You can get to Amritsar city by a pre-booked rented car, taxis or auto-rickshaws There are no direct flights between Mumbai and Amritsar.

The following are the flights between New Delhi and Amritsar. Connecting flight from Mumbai to Delhi can be planned accordingly as there is flight every hour from Mumbai to New Delhi.

Jet Airways Konnect has two flights daily Departure New Delhi at 12:40 hrs and 8:00 hrs and arrival Amritsar at 14:00 hts and 09:20 hrs respectively

Kingfisher Airlines: Departure New Delhi 18:45 hra and 6:15 Hrs and arrival Amritsar 20:10 hts and 08:00 hrs respectively.

There is other option to go to Amritsar that is take direct flight from Mumbai to Chandigarh. There are three daily flights to Chandigarh. From there Amritsar is just 240 Kms which can be easily covered by car in five hours.

Travel by train

There are only three direct Mumbai Amritsar trains . However there are a large number of trains between Mumbai to New Delhi and New Delhi to Amritsar. So if planning to travel to Amritsar by train there are more options available if there is a break of journey in New Delhi.
