Legends League Cricket Finals Review

Yesterday was the finals of the First Edition of Legends League Cricket Tournament. It was played between Asian Lion and World Giants. The legends League Tournament was played in Oman for 10 days. During these 10 days, we witnessed many epic moments.

 We saw many greats return to play the game which they loved the most. There were 3 teams in this Initial Edition of the tournament. The Indian Maharajas and 2 finalists are mentioned above.

Now talking about the 2 finalists, the Asian Lion consisted of players from Asian Nations such as Afghanistan Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. This team was headed by Misbah Ul - Haqq of Pakistan. While their opponents and eventually champions consisted of legends from the rest of the world barring Asia. This team was captained by the player who was known as Serial Winner as a captain he is none other than Darren Sammy.

Now talking about yesterday's finals, Asian Lions won the toss and they opted to field inviting World Giants to bat on a flat pitch. For World Giants, the former England batsman Kevin Petersen rolled back the time and played as he use to in his prime. Then came Storm named Cory Anderson. Anderson just set the field apart from ball one. He smashed an unbeaten 94 with 8 sixes and 7 fours in that innings. Seeing Anderson go his partners at another end Brad Haddin and Captain Sammy too went high fly. Thus the end of 20 overs World Giants reached a total of 256.

From the start of the 2nd Innings, a target of 257 was honestly daunting for the Lions. These days you don’t get to see 250 scores getting chased in ODI so doing it in 20 overs is a completely different ball game. But the Legendary Sri Lankan Duo of Dilshan and Jayasuriya gave the lions a decent start. Lions were 60 by end of powerplay and it looked like they will get it. But soon both openers were dismissed. Upal Tharanga tried to do something for the Lions but his other teammates weren’t supportive. The match was dead but the excitement came again when two bowlers Muralitharan and Chaminda Vass smacked a few sixes in the end. The final result was World Giants won by 25runs the match and the initial edition of Legends Cricket League. Cory Anderson was a man of the match while Morne Morkel was Man of the Series.

Now conclude this whole concept bring back the legends was a brilliant one. Fans got to see their heroes back in action which missed seeing. Some cricketers rolled back the time through their performance and while many movements to laugh and cherry about in this League. The next edition of this league is set to take place in September 2022. All we hope is we can more teams in the league meaning more legends we can witness playing the beautiful game of cricket.
