The Lord may not give gold, but He will give grace: He may not give gain, but He will give grace. He will certainly send us trial, but He will give grace in proportion thereto. We may be called to labor and to suffer, but with the call there will come all the grace required. What an "end" is that in the text—"and glory!" We do not need glory yet, and we are not yet fit for it; but we shall have it in due order. After we have eaten the bread of grace, we shall drink the wine of glory. We must go through the holy, which is grace, to the holiest of all, which is glory. These words and glory are enough to make a man dance for joy. A little while—a little while, and then glory forever!

Charles Haddon Spurgeon (1834–1892) was a prominent British Baptist preacher known for his powerful oratory and deep theological insights. Often referred to as the "Prince of Preachers," Spurgeon was a significant figure in the 19th-century evangelical movement. He began his ministry at a young age and gained widespread recognition as the pastor of the New Park Street Chapel (later the Metropolitan Tabernacle) in London. Spurgeon's sermons were characterized by their eloquence, biblical depth, and practical application, attracting large congregations and leading to the publication of numerous books and sermon collections. He also founded a pastors' college and an orphanage, and his influence continues to be felt in Christian circles today.

"I have long ago said farewell to my character; I lost it in the earlier days of my ministry by being a little more zealous than suited a slumbering age, and I have never been able to regain it except in the sight of him who judgeth all the earth, and in the hearts of those who love me for my work’s sake." ~ C.H. Spurgeon, 1865

It is well to have longings, and the more intense they are the better. The Lord will satisfy soul-longings, however great and all-absorbing they may be. Let us greatly long, for God will greatly give. We are never in a right state of mind when we are contented with ourselves and are free from longings. Desires for more grace and groanings which cannot be uttered are growing pains, and we should wish to feel them more and more.

"A oração é um material maravilhoso para construir a estrutura espiritual, pois nós mesmos somos edificados pela oração; crescemos em graça pela oração; e se formos a Deus com petições em todo momento, seremos cristãos que crescem rápido." Spurgeon

Spurgeon quotes
Tumblr media
Here are just a few quotes that come from Charles H. Spurgeon who is often called the “prince of preachers”.  His boldness and powerful messages have impacted many people through the years.
It is also well known that Spurgeon battled depression and other issues.  Yet God used him to speak life, to inspire others and to change the direction of many churches and preachers.
Here are some of the most powerful quotes from Spurgeon:
“Our anxiety does not empty tomorrow of its sorrows, but only empties today of its strengths.”  ― Spurgeon
“A Bible that’s falling apart usually belongs to someone who isn’t.” ― Spurgeon
“Visit many good books, but live in the Bible.” ― Spurgeon
“Faith goes up the stairs that love has built and looks out the windows which hope has opened.”  ― Spurgeon
“A good character is the best tombstone. Those who loved you and were helped by you will remember you when forget-me-nots have withered. Carve your name on hearts, not on marble.”  ― Spurgeon
“If Christ is not all to you He is nothing to you. He will never go into partnership as a part Saviour of men. If He be something He must be everything, and if He be not everything He is nothing to you.” ― Spurgeon
“The mind of God is greater than all the minds of men, so let all men leave the gospel just as God has delivered it unto us.” ― Spurgeon
“God's thoughts of you are many, let not yours be few in return.” ― Spurgeon
“Let me ask you, how many atheists are now in this house? Perhaps not a single one of you would accept the title, and yet, if you live from Monday morning to Saturday night in the same way as you would live if there were no God, you are practical atheists.” ― Spurgeon
Deep.  Those might be my own choices for great quotes, and you might find more.  But my desire is to be pulled and even pushed to walk ever closer to God.  Nothing can change us more than our proximity to the Father, our cleaning due to be close, and our desire increasing to be with Him more and more!
James 4:8,10  NLT
Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world. … 10 Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up in honor.

C H Spurgeon on Christmas
C H Spurgeon on Christmas
https://www.spurgeon.org/resource-library/blog-entries/spurgeons-guidance-on-celebrating-christmas/ Phillip Ort December 21, 2018 In light of this, Spurgeon insisted that “the doctrine of the incarnation of Christ is meat to your soul,” while the “great truth” of his “substitutionary sacrifice” was “the most nourishing cordial to your heart.” Indeed, Spurgeon could not help but to exclaim, “Oh,…

“Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him” (col 2:6) ~ “…persevere in the same way in which you began, and, just as at the beginning Christ Jesus was the trust of your faith, the source of your life, the principle of your action, and the joy of your spirit, so let Him be the same until life’s end, the same when you walk through the valley of the shadow of death and enter into the joy and the rest that remain for the people of God. O Holy Spirit, enable us to obey this heavenly precept.” CH Spurgeon

by Clayton Kraby | Charles Haddon Spurgeon (1834 – 1892) has proven to be one of the greatest preachers, if not the greatest preacher, since the days of the apostles. The appeal of Spurgeon’s preaching was almost immediate, and his Metropolitan Tabernacle was regularly filled with 5000-6000 people...
