• The fans work in different ways. Centrifugal fans that draws air into the housing inlet, turns 90 degrees and is accelerates radially, and exits the fan housing. Centrifugal fans are typically used for lower flows and higher pressures. As they are quieter, they also offer an advantage in terms of less noise level. They take up more space and are more expensive than propeller fans, however.
• Whereas the Axial fan is made up of a propeller rotated on its axis by a motor. Moves air axially through a cylindrical housing or shaped plate with ports. Axial fans are generally used for higher flow rates and lower pressures. The axial fan is widely used to circulate air in large rooms and to ventilate rooms through walls and ducts. Compared to centrifugal fans, axial fans take up less space, are cheaper and are quieter.
.Airflow: Airflow is the amount of air that flows through an industrial fan over time. It is reported in cubic feet per minute (CFM) or the metric equivalent of cubic meters per hour (M3/Hr). 1 CFM = 1.6990 x M3/hour.
.Static Pressure: Static pressure is the resistance to airflow (friction) caused by air movement through a pipe, duct, hose, filter, hood vents, control panel, etc. air or shutters. Static pressure is expressed in inches of water column (in WG) or the metric equivalent in millimeters of water column (mm WG).1 inch H = 25.4 x mm H.
.Density: Density variations due to temperature and/or barometric pressure changes must be corrected to standard conditions prior to fan selection.
.Altitude: The altitude at which the blower or fan operates also affects its operation. Air Temperature: The temperature of the air flowing through the fan or blower affects the performance of the fan or blower.
.When selecting industrial axial fans, several factors should be taken into consideration to ensure you choose the right one for your specific needs. Here are some key points to consider:
.Airflow Requirements: Determine the required airflow for your application. This is usually measured in cubic feet per minute (CFM) or cubic meters per hour (m³/h). Calculate the necessary airflow based on the size of the area, ventilation requirements, and any heat-generating equipment.
.Static Pressure: Identify the static pressure conditions in your application. Static pressure refers to the resistance the fan needs to overcome to move air efficiently through the system. It’s crucial to select a fan that can handle the required static pressure to avoid performance issues.
