Green AT RISK MEMO: FooFoo is very social with handlers, however her dog reactivity reported in home has also been seen in care center. We feel FooFoo should go to an adult only, single pet environment where this behavior can appropriately be managed. Medically FooFoo has some hair thinning around the neck, but is otherwise healthy. OWNER SURRENDER NOTES – BASIC INFORMATION: Foofoo is a large mixed spayed female, approximately 2 years old who was surrendered due to the owner having financial hardships at the moment. The owner adopted from us back in June of 2018. FooFoo lived with 2 adults. Foofoo is described as energetic, enthusiastic, friendly and outgoing when strangers approach her. Owner did not have any children in the home so behavior is unknown. Foofoo doesn’t not do well with other dogs. When on a walk or at a dog park, Foofoo will stiffen her body, hard bark and lunge at smaller dogs but will be fine when a dog of her size approaches. Owner took Foofoo to his friends house who has a cat. When the cat would approach Foofoo, she would bark and lunge at the animal. Foofoo will allow owner to take away her food, toys and treats away. Foofoo listens to commands when you tell her to drop the toy or treat. She has no known bite history. FooFoo is partially housetrained and has a very high activity level. She has no known medical concerns at this time. Other Notes: Foofoo isn't bothered when being pushed off furniture, trims nails or being brushed. Owner stated recently if you restrain her, Foofoo will growl. When unfamiliar people approach her home or when out on a walk, she is excitable and loves attention. For a New Family to Know: Foofoo is described as friendly, affectionate, playful, confident, mellow and excitable. She has a very high activity level. Owner's favorite thing about Foofoo is her face, she's lovable and affectionate. She loves to cuddle and give kisses. Her favorite activities are tug of war and chase. Fofoo is kept indoors only. She was fed Taste of the wild, twice a day mostly. One cup in the morning and two cups at night. Her favorite treats are people scraps such as chicken and meatballs. She loves to snuggle and sleep in owners bed. She will have accidents in the home daily. When left alone in the home, Foofoo is anxious, will destroy household items and will have accidents. She has been crate trained but doesn't do well, she will still go potty in the crate and she will whine to get out. Foofoo knows the commands sit, stay, come, down, heel, shake and when owner tells her to hide, she will go in between owner's legs. She also knows the command roll over. For exercise, Foofoo loves to chase ball and jog with owner while he's on a bike. Owner states during the winter months, Foofoo will pull on leash but during summertime months she loves to enjoy the weather. Potential challenges at Level 2 include no young children, single pet home, resource guarding, on-leash reactivity, mouthiness, fear with potential for escalation, impulse control/arousal, anxiety and separation anxiety. Level 3 Dogs with Level 3 determinations will need to go to homes with experienced adopters, and the ACC strongly suggest that the adopter have prior experience with the challenges described and/or an understanding of the challenge and how to manage it safely in a home environment. In many cases, a trainer will be needed to manage and work on the behaviors safely in a home environment. It is likely that every dog with a Level 3 determination will have a behavior modification or training plan available to them from the behavior department that will go home with the adopters and be made available to the New Hope Partners for their fosters and adopters. Some of the challenges seen at Level 3 are also seen at Level 1 and Level 2, but when seen alongside a Level 3 determination can be assumed to be more severe. The potential challenges for Level 3 determinations include adult only home (no children under the age of 13), single pet home, resource guarding, on-leash reactivity with potential for redirection, mouthiness with pressure, potential escalation to threatening behavior, impulse control, arousal, anxiety, separation anxiety, bite history (human), bite history (dog) and bite history (other). New Hope Rescue Only Dog is not publicly adoptable. Prospective fosters or adopters need to fill out applications with New Hope Partner Rescues to save this dog.
