#Catty x Mouscedes

Saw people sharing their rarepairs from G1 and I thought I’d write a small prompt for mine after watching Boo York for the first time in years.

Even though she’s performed many times in many different places, one place Catty never expected to perform was at a museum gala hosted by a rather stuffy royal who had no interest in modern day music let alone Catty’s brand of it. Yet despite not being a fan the same stuffy royal did care for her son and wanted to show support for his choice. Which is how both Catty and Pharoh found themselves performing tonight.

Due to the unexpectedness of it all and the fact that she hadn’t planned for it, after all she had only expected to go to a gala, any monster could tell the addition was last minute. But while that may be true it could also be said that the quality Catty gave did not falter. In fact she sounded and looked better than ever, because she felt better than ever.

She had found so much since coming to Boo York, she found her music, she found a good friend and someone who understood her in Pharoh…but there was one last thing she hoped she could say she had found since the moment she laid eyes on them.

As Catty sang the last song of the night, her eyes did not leave the ghoul in the front of the crowd. She was dancing her heart out doing sick twirls and just completely letting loose in the way Catty always wanted to but never could until she learned how. The ghoul looked to be having so much fun and the popstar couldn’t help the desire to want to be part of the crowd for a change, dancing right beside her.

And so when the last song ended Catty wasted no time making her way over to the ghoul. Funny enough she’s actually been around them plenty of times, this would just be the first time they’d officially interact one-on-one so Catty was a bit nervous. In truth she actually got nervous quite often but never like this which made it all the more exciting.

Especially when the ghoul turned to face her, noticing who was coming her way she smiled and spoke before Catty had a chance to say a word.

“Catty, that performance was a-maze-ing! Hex it almost makes me feel like a stereotypical rat that I didn’t have to pay to enjoy it.”

“Thanks Mouscedes, that’s actually a rather nice and unique compliment.”

Mouscedes squeaked in amusement as she giggled into her hand before adding. “I think this is the first time we talked like this, hard to believe considering how often we been around each other the last few days.”

“I was just thinking the same thing!”

“Know what they say, great minds think alike, but I’ve actually been wanting to talk to you for awhile now.”

“Is that so?” For a moment Catty hoped it was for the same reason as her but then again she was a popstar so what reason did she have to hope that.

“Yeah, but it’s not because you’re a popstar.”

‘…Oh…’ Was all her mind managed to think as Mouscedes continued on.

“I won’t lie, I love meeting spellebrities as much as the next beast but that’s not the reason I wanted to talk with you…well not since that die-saster of a brunch anyway.”

“So, why did you want to talk to me?”

Mouscedes squeaked again before saying the next words without even a hint of hesitation. “To ask you on a date.”

To say Catty was at a loss for words was an understatement. Not to toot her own horn but she was Catty Noir, and most of the monsters who talk to her do so in a way that doesn’t let her fidget. Yet here was this rat ghoul doing exactly that.

Not only that but she just asked her out and wow okay. This is definitely a new feeling…but it wasn’t a bad one.

“A date, with me?”

“Of course, with you. I know it might seem out of nowhere but I promise it’s not because of your fame. Like I said it was ever since then, that first time I saw you, that I felt like I had to ask. There’s something about you that just wouldn’t leave my mind. I’m sorry if I’m being a pest right now I just-“

“No! I mean no you aren’t being a pest. Actually that’s kinda almost exactly what I wanted to say to you.”

“Really?” The accompanying squeak was almost a full octave higher than the others.

“Yeah, I think I’ve been having the same thoughts even.”

“Wow, and I thought when I said ‘great minds’ it was just as a cheesy saying. Who knew it would have been literal.”

This time it was Catty’s turn to laugh, though there was something about the way Mouscedes spoke that always left her smiling.

“Anyway, I know this great vegan restaurant that’s to die for, pick you up at your hotel tomorrow? Normally I prefer to get around by walking or by taxi but maybe I’ll think about bringing out the limo for this occasion.”

Was Mouscedes teasing her? If that smile and that glint in her eye was anything to go by then yes, she most definitely was.

“I think walking sounds like a grand idea.”

Mouscedes squeaked joyfully and the soft closed eyed smile she hit Catty with almost knocked her on her feet but somehow she stayed standing. “I’m glad to hear that.”

Catty smiled back and for a moment she even forgot she was still a popstar in the middle of a fancy gala. For a moment she felt like a normal ghoul giddy with excitement over the prospect of something new.

So how many of you saw this coming? Yeah, I don’t know how I managed to either. Maybe it was because one was a cat and the other a rat? It sounded cute in my 12 (or so) year old head. But man was that a long time ago.
