"Damn motherfucker! I missed you so much," Maddy exclaimed with enthusiasm as she approached. My face lit up with a smile when I saw her approaching, radiating her usual splendor.

Maddy was wearing a tight red crop top with a deep neckline. Under the crop top, she had on a short high-waisted skirt made of shimmering fabric. For footwear, she opted for knee-high boots that accentuated her legs. To complete the look, Maddy was adorned with plenty of jewelry, including dangling earrings, bracelets, and rings. Her makeup was elaborate, featuring sparkling eyeshadow, bold lips, and impeccable nails.

"Hey, Mad," I replied, raising my hand in greeting. However, the Latina girl looked at me with a raised eyebrow, sporting an infectious smile. "With a hand? Come here," Maddy said, opening her arms and wrapping them around my neck, hugging me tightly.

Summer vacation had come to an end, and the excitement of beach days, summer adventures, and golden sunsets was quickly fading. It was time to bid farewell to that carefree atmosphere. Unfortunately, Los Angeles High School had already opened its doors for a new school year. Nostalgia for the long sunny days and evenings spent with friends lingered as I prepared to face a new chapter within the school's austere walls.

"What's new with you?" Maddy asked with a mischievous smile, raising her eyebrows playfully. "Any new conquests? Made any new acquaintances?" She added, revealing her curiosity.

My cheeks quickly turned red. "Maddy!" I whispered, trying to hide my embarrassment. "It's been okay, nothing special..." I replied with a slightly high-pitched voice.

Maddy tilted her head with a knowing smile.

"And you?" I asked curiously.

"Actually, you've changed," Maddy said, observing me closely. "So there's something new about you, you're much sexy." Her words were a sincere compliment as she leaned against my locker. "Summer vacation went well; I went to Greece," she added with a radiant smile.

"Fantastic," I replied absentmindedly. "Well, see you later, bitch... I need to go see Cassie," Maddy said as she approached and planted a kiss on my cheek, bidding me a sweet farewell.

"Bitch..." someone whispered behind me with a mischievous tone, making me turn around.

I barely held back the curse that burned on my lips when I saw Jenna Ortega, the most annoying and unpleasant girl in the whole school. I couldn't understand why she seemed to harbor such deep hatred for me, but her arrogant and egocentric attitude made my blood boil. She was an irritating, odious presence, and just seeing her made me clenched my fists in anger.

"What do you want, Ortega?" I asked with evident irritation, squinting at Jenna.

"Nothing, you're just in my way," she muttered with false innocence that only fueled my anger.

Jenna was dressed in an oversized black hoodie, her hair falling messily onto her shoulders, and she wore a denim skirt that barely reached above the knee. Her style screamed rebellion and attitude, just like her annoying personality.

I reluctantly moved aside, wishing Jenna would trip and fall flat on her face. I inwardly smiled at the thought alone.

"Why are you smiling? You're really weird," Jenna commented absentmindedly as she opened her locker, which was just two lockers away from mine.

Why did she have to be so close to me? I wondered in frustration.

"I was just thinking of something amusing, not your business," I replied with a fake smile. "You're really weird," Jenna said, raising her eyebrows in confusion. "See you in class, loser" she concluded, slamming her locker shut with a dull thud as she walked away.

"I'll show you who's a loser," I muttered under my breath, ready to follow her. But a voice stopped me.

"Leave her be, Y/N, she's just an idiot," someone whispered by my side.

My anger began to dissipate, and I smiled when I saw my friend Rue. The curly-haired girl wrapped an arm around my shoulders. "Sorry I'm late," she said, yawning slightly. "I overslept," she confessed, and I gave her a teasing look.

"Yeah, I can imagine why," I commented mischievously, making Rue blush. "What? No... what do you mean?" she stammered in embarrassment.

"Ey girls!" someone else chimed in with a small laugh. It was Kat, who joined us with a radiant smile. "Hey, Kat," I greeted her with a kiss on the cheek. "Hey, Y/N... Rue," Kat said, giving us both an infectious smile.

"Rue," she said with a mischievous smile, "I hope your vacations were as hot as they seem in my wildest dreams."

Rue blushed even more, trying to hide her embarrassment. "Kat!" she exclaimed with a tone somewhere between embarrassment and amusement.

I couldn't help but smile and burst into laughter. "Kat, I can't tell who's more perverted between you and Mad," I commented amidst the laughter.

After Kat's embarrassing remark, the three of us headed to our first class of the day. It seemed like life at Los Angeles High School was settling back into its routine.

Rue and I had history, while Kat, with a sad smile, said she had math, rolling her eyes in annoyance. It was clear that she didn't particularly care for that subject. With a promise to meet up after class, we parted ways and headed to our respective classrooms, ready to face a new day of academic challenges and unexpected encounters.

The history class turned out to be one of the most boring ones in my life. The teacher spoke in a monotone voice, the textbook felt like it weighed a ton, and the material being covered was anything but interesting. To try and survive the agony, I started doodling in my notebook, hoping time would pass faster.

Rue, on the other hand, seemed to have a different approach to boredom. She had literally sprawled herself across her desk, her calm and steady breathing indicating that she had decided to take a little nap. I couldn't blame her; in those circumstances, it seemed like the most sensible thing to do.

"Hey, loser... can you move? I can't see the blackboard." A terribly annoying voice whispered behind me.

I turned to look at Jenna with a raised eyebrow, barely holding back my growing anger. "You're not even taking notes," I muttered wearily.

Jenna rolled her eyes in annoyance. "Just do it," she murmured, a smile plastered on her lips.

I needed some supernatural strength to endure Jenna at that moment.

I turned back to my desk and resumed doodling in my notebook, trying to ignore her.

"What are you doing?" Jenna whispered just inches from my ear.

A shiver ran down my spine. "Doodling," I replied in a monotone tone.

I heard Jenna lean back into her chair again, distancing herself from me. But the silence didn't last long.

"Anyway, they suck," she chuckled, taunting me. I bit my lower lip to avoid responding.

A crumpled piece of paper landed on my head.

"Cut it out," I muttered distractedly, trying to focus on my drawings.

Another piece of paper fell onto my head, hitting me harder. Closing my eyes, I tried to hold my breath.

"Can you stop?" I whispered through gritted teeth, hoping not to attract the teacher's attention.

Jenna seemed not to listen, continuing to bother me. Another piece of paper ended up on me, and I lost my patience.

I stood up abruptly from my chair, causing it to crash to the floor with a thud. In a lightning-fast motion, I turned and grabbed Jenna by the collar of her hoodie. "What the hell do you want? Why don't you leave me alone?" I hissed through clenched teeth, my face contorted with irritation.

The distance between our faces was minimal, our breaths mingling in the tense air. Jenna smiled, showing her dimple. "Fuck you," she simply replied, looking at me with challenging eyes.

My grip on her hoodie tightened, the distance between our faces decreasing even more. "L/N! ORTEGA!" The teacher's voice echoed in the classroom, drawing everyone's attention to us. My eyes shifted to the teacher, who was looking at us angrily.

The whole class had their eyes on us, watching our quarrel with curiosity and surprise. I released my hold on Jenna's hoodie, pushing her away from me.

"Both of you, immediately out of my class and go to the principal's office," the teacher ordered, pointing to the door.

"This is your fault," I whispered irritably as we made our way to the exit.

"Actually, it's yours," Jenna stuck her tongue out in response.

"Move it," the teacher urged us again, this time with a stern tone.

With clenched teeth, I walked out of the classroom, headed to the principal's office along with the obnoxious Ortega.

She's so insufferable.

WHAT IS MEMENTO MORI ABOUT?

Memento Mori goes into themes of neurodivergency, loneliness, and the intersection between them as a major thing and arguably the most important underlying plot line underneath your typical FNAF SB plot. At the very least it's important to me.

It takes place in the year 2031, with the PizzaPlex having opened in 2025, two years after a canon-divergent FFPS. It's connected to my currently very under construction humanized FNAF1-FFPS AU, All Those Nights.

It starts off when Vanna, a woman who is tired of being nobody and determined to be remembered, sets her sights on the PizzaPlex to try and cause some loud, flashy tragedy that will make her stick in people's memory. With the help of her girlfriend, Anne, who she's known since she was a child and reunited with as an adult, since Vanna faked her death in her teenage years. Anne has a hatred for people and a disillusionment with the world around her, but also holds a sense of morality she tries to bury.

Vanna could have had some morals, but thanks to her past with street violence, she is very desensitized to her own horrible actions and much more ready to go through with this. She has a playful, friendly demeanor that hides horrendous anger issues caused by emotional dysregulation, buried self-hatred, and a sort of spite towards a world where she never fit in.

So, the PizzaPlex.

Through the course of six months, Vanna and Anne hack the Glamrocks one by one, and kill several people to try and fulfill Vanna's goal.

The events of FNAF SB proper follow primarily Glam as the protagonist, with Vivianne as a sort of second POV, as they try to survive, figure out what's happening, and save everyone, while also trying to find Vivianne's sister, who got stuck here with her.

There's also some side plots! Such as...

-Gala, Monty and Roxy slowly coming to realize that what's going on here isn't what they're being led to believe, only to be fully stripped of their free will to ensure they stay in line, something that happened to Melody a while before the events of the plot.

-Sol's initial attempts to get back to safety when they know everything's dangerous, from which they shift focus upon running into Melody, realizing something's wrong, and trying to find a way to help him.

-Luna being a looming presence through most of these plot lines, being just... different. In reality, it's Vanna keeping things in check, while Luna's stuck in the back of his own body, spectating.

-And Vanna and Anne's attempts to get everything back on track as Vanna starts to lose her temper and speed towards her own doom.

WHAT IS SECURITY IS IN PLACE ABOUT?

So this AU started as a "yes, and..." bit with a mutual about a FNAF SB dating sim. It's not actually super romance focused but I'm telling you this because the way the story is set up and stuff like the theming surrounding this AU's Vanny makes more sense in that context.

So, the year is 2005, owing to the timeskip between FNAF1 and FNAF3 being cut some.

The PizzaPlex, opened in 2003, has moved on from the horrors of the past. Or most people think that, anyways. Raglan, a king of coping healthily with grief, pulled a small funny move, and designed nearly all the Glamrocks after people from the past.

Astrifer is designed after Henry Emily.

Noctifer is designed after William Afton.

Taiyo and Tsuki are designed after the Puppet, and, in turn, Charlie Emily.

Sally is designed after Susie Beck.

Rox is designed after the Mangle.

Stellifer is exempt from this and an outlier in that. He probably was just bought from a different location and redesigned a bit.

Most people don't notice, or don't care enough to think too hard about it.

Valentine Lovett, the now adult younger sister of Susie Beck, isn't most people.

Valentine is a very sweet and cheerful woman who keeps up such a sickeningly pretty, lovely appearance. In actuality, she is a very disturbed individual whose life was ruined by her sister's death, as her parents couldn't cope with it and traumatized her even further by projecting Susie on her.

Valentine is someone incredibly obsessive and who struggles to come to terms with reality, and she sees the Glamrocks as a revival of people who should have stayed dead. So she's decided she's gonna be the one to make them truly gone. She's also a terrifyingly skilled stalker.

The story is divided into several "routes", with highly differing story lines. However, each character has their route jointed with another, and while the character you pick will mostly be the focus, the events will follow a roughly similar progression for both of those characters.

So, routes:

NIGHT GUARD: Astrifer - Nessa (Hacked: Noctifer, Tsuki)

STAGE CREW: Noctifer - Stellifer (Hacked: The opposite of who you pick. If you pick Noctifer, Stellifer will get hacked, and viceversa)

KITCHEN: Sally - Rox (Hacked: Rox)

DAYCARE: Tsuki - Taiyo (Hacked: Tsuki)

HEARTBREAKER: Valentine (Hacked: Noctifer, Tsuki, Rox, Stellifer, Sally)

ABOUT THE HEARTBREAKER ROUTE...

It is possible to choose Valentine within the story of SiiP. A sort of New Game+ possibility where Bernadette has the chance to meet Valentine early and bond with her first.

This isn't an "I can fix her" story path, however, it's a "She will make you worse" one.

Bernadette is someone who would very much do anything for a person they care about. At the beginning here, when they heard of Valentine's motivations, they thought she had a bit of a point.

So, they decided to help her.

I typically dub this story path's Bernadette either Darling or Heartbreaker, and the story follows their plunge into a full-on corruption arc that lands them as a true, full villain by the end of it, perhaps to an even greater degree than Valentine.

They carefully work their way into ensuring they don't get attached to anyone other than Valentine, manipulate the characters they normally would have bonded with and make them believe they're their friend, ready, at any time needed, to betray each and every one of them for their own gain.

Darling started out not as certain of this, but slowly came to realize they enjoy the thrill of being in control, and started to become a cruel, malicious and silver-tongued person. They still love Valentine deeply, but it's hard for them to truly extend that care to anyone else.

They become the closest SiiP has to a Mimic variant, and this story path leads to SiiP's own version of Security Breach within lore, which would be a lot more focused on mind games and the fear of not knowing who or what you can trust.

There's a Ruin DLC side AU spanning off of it too, but that's in the works.

Book Lovers by Emily Henry (18+!)

• big emily henry fan here, i've read most of her other books and i just picked up her new one. this one, in comparison to the other ones i've read, was in my opinion, just kind of middle ground. it wasn't as amazing as i was expecting and it wasn't bad, i just don't think this was the book for me. about a literary agent, nora, and her rival - a brooding editor for a major company she works with, charlie - both being displaced from their big city life and finding themselves in the same small town for the summer. they keep bumping into one another in sunshine falls after a less than fortuitous business meeting in NYC a few years ago and one thing leads to another. turns out charlie isn't actually as bad as she had thought! perhaps i'm just unread in the small town romance genre, but again, this one wasn't really for me. i didn't feel like charlie and nora really had all that much chemistry. i was actually more interested in their lives separate from each other than how they meshed together oddly enough. a lot of henry's books center around family - more specifically familial grief after the death of a parent - and this book was no exception. the detailed descriptions of nora's past, dealing with the death of her mother and needing to step up to take care of her younger sister, hit really close to home for me as an older sister. learning about the course of her life come to a grinding halt and the two of them learning to pick up the pieces together was beautifully done and had major implications for the turning point of charlie and nora's story. nora and libby were the highlight of this book for me - i loved every single scene between them and i almost wish it was just about these two. charlie on the other hand, is a local of this small town and has a sordid past with many of the individuals there. i didn't like his character all that much personally, he felt kind of flat in general to me, but i did think his interactions with the other local characters was very interesting and i liked that nora had a bit of a puzzle to put together as she stayed in sunshine falls. though she accidentally went out with his cousin - yikes! overall, two very detailed stories coming together to form one that i almost wish were two separate books. romance plot in this one didn't really do it for me and that's okay! i still had a good time reading it :)

i'd recommend beach read or happy place by the same author in place of this one.

• yeah i know. guys i know. but what can i say. i'm a simple girl with simple taste and i love vampires. this book wasn't groundbreaking of course but it was soooo fucking funny. loved very moment of it! like what do you mean our fmc cassie just moves in with a random guy who has a wonderful apartment and he's super hot and sexy and he talks and dresses like he's from a different time and he tells you there's a part of your apartment you can never go and he sleeps all day and is out all night and she's just okay with it 😭 girl what if he killed you 😭 anyway. mmc fredrick j. fitzwilliam they can never make me hate you. being alive for almost 400 years is tough, especially when you need someone to teach you the modern ways of life after being asleep for the last century! every time the two of them went everywhere and did something i was like rolling in my seat with laughter. trying to pay for coffee at a hipster coffee shop where the drink names don't actually tell you what's inside? where the sizes are named after planetary phenomenons? where he pulls out a velvet sack of coins and tries to pay with dabloons? god guys it was so funny i can't even begin to put my thoughts of this down on paper. they go to a party so he studies pop culture all night and memorizes taylor swift's entire Wikipedia page???? normally i hate t swift being brought up randomly in modern romance novels (happens way too much IMO) but i'm willing to look past it this time. WHAT DO YOU MEAN SHE STOPPED A KIDNAPPING USING TIKTOK LIKE???? say what you will about my sense of humor but never in a million years did i guess how this book was ending. fucking hilarious and so entertaining and cassie and fredrick are very cute together. honestly the romance was like b plot for me i just thought he was too silly and wanted to know all about what weird shit fredrick was doing that day. again, not the most enlightening or literary force of nature i've ever read but i did have a very very good time. boo me if you want but i'm right <3

omg i don't even have words for this incredible selection of works from this month. all of the mickames blurbs were so adorable, confession literally brought me to tears, double date was just hilarious, and endearment made me smile!!! i love how those all balanced out with the emotion and power tucked into both parts of desolation; the switch up really shows how hard relationships can be, even if they seem easy!, and how two people try and get past even the toughest of times together. loved the openness of difficult conversation and how james and mickey managed that together. it felt so true to real life and literally had my stomach wrenching at points. i was so worried for them, and i'm so happy they're working it out! <3 and i always love reading more about the mason band! i love them!! :))

ohhh my god again and again and again i read girl time rush. literally like twice a month but this month especially i wanted to highlight it bc it served as inspiration for my own little story hehe <3 stories from the perspective of james just kill me i love him so much and i feel like all three parts of girl time rush encapsulate that perfectly. from dealing with a job he didn't really want, to working behind the scenes, to a tumultuous situationship(? kind of. i don't really know what that word means but it feels appropriate) with dak zevon. god every time i read it i love it even more. and the jucy story... such a wonderful switch up of the real story and how it would affect the characters if things went differently! it was so cute, i loved it so much. can't wait to add it to my reread list <3333

ahh!! i loved this story so much; the only bad thing was having to wait for the chapters to upload and not getting to read it all at once! i know i said this over and over but it truly read like a big time rush episode - you did such a wonderful job of taking the wackiness from the real show and molding it into something if your own. the battle of the bands was such a fun idea and i loved all of the girls and how they mirrored btr! jessica my beloved... it had it all: action, romance, comedy, i couldn't ask for more!!!!

such a wonderful story (inspired by a wonderful song!) that put forth the trouble with touring, what happens when it comes to an end, and the toughness of a goodbye. kendall and riley have such a wonderful dynamic that was put on full display with this one! their promise to keep talking when they can (because talking is what they do best!!) was so adorable and i love that they managed to get through their tough time together :)

Given the number of vampires with super hearing who regularly break into my house, I tend to shower pretty fast and with at least three signs on the door refusing entry while I’m showering. While Elijah and Finn are perfect gentlemen and will usually leave as soon as they realise I’m not ready for company, Kol and Rebekah have no sense of boundaries, and Nik insists he’s seen it all before and that there’s nothing I have that would surprise him. Other than that… shampoo and conditioner I guess?

Do you like makeup?

I love wearing makeup when I can, but given that at least something is trying to kill me at least once a week I don’t have much time to practise. Rebekah picked up most modern day makeup techniques pretty fast, so I let her do my makeup for any big events.

Is there a scent you associate a memory with?

A memory? As weird as it sounds, burnt toast is the best memory I associate with a smell - Jenna, my aunt, always managed to burn it in the mornings when we were all in a rush… she’s dead now, but whenever someone burns something I think of her…

This is tumblr generated prompt number 65 and marks the halfway point of this round! I’m a big fan of competent/bamf Gregory, enough so that I feel like I’m running out of slightly plausible scenarios to put this kid in to highlight that, lol. I ended up repurposing the premise of an old ficlet that I never finished, so, context: there’s a handful of kids trapped in the pizzaplex that Vanny’s looking to pick off one by one, like a game. Gregory’s thirteen here!

The Most Dangerous Game

Gregory silently grit his teeth together, legs aching from how long he’d been crouching in place. Behind him were the two younger kids he’d found—seven-year-old Jenna and ten-year-old Delaney. He didn’t know how many of them were trapped inside the pizzaplex; he didn’t know how many were dead already. 

“Okay,” he whispered as Roxy finally disappeared into the east arcade. “Ready?” 

Both girls nodded, their fingers tightly linked together. Jenna was crying. He wanted nothing more than to get there somewhere safe, or as safe as any place could be in this hellhole. 

He took Jenna’s other hand, keeping her between him and Delaney, and then he pulled them out of the photo booth they’d been huddled in for ages. To the younger kids’ credit, they kept up with him and did so quietly as he ran as fast as he dared to the escalators. Gregory kept a careful eye on the arcade entrance, but it stayed Roxy-free as they cautiously started down the steps. 

He dared to breathe a sigh of relief when they reached the middle level, but they kept going. He was aiming for the ground floor. 

Their ultimate goal was the daycare. Sun was odd, not murderous, and hopefully by the time Cassie was done with him, whatever weird glitch had him so twitchy and at-odds with his other half would be fixed. 

As much as he hated it, as much as he wanted to keep all of them with him where he could protect them himself, Gregory had to leave the girls behind if he was going to find and rescue as many kids as he could. He’d already seen one too-young dead body. He refused to stand by and let the crazy bunny lady get to another. For that, he needed to move fast. He couldn’t do that with tag-alongs. 

Their little trio reached the ground floor without alerting anyone to their presence, which was all Gregory could have asked for. His eyes automatically scanned their immediate surroundings for a hiding place, even as he hurried them along to get out of the extremely exposed atrium. 

Their luck ran out before they could find cover. He heard the heavy, clunking footsteps first, rushing closer. In addition to the character animatronics, the bunny lady had unleashed a horde of creepy endoskeletons to hunt her victims down. 

There was something uniquely terrifying about the skeletal, wide-eyed robot bearing down on them. Its face was so blank, and unlike the band, they didn’t speak. 

Gregory blew out a sharp breath and herded the girls toward the wall before going to meet the robot head-on. He freed his sole weapon from his makeshift belt holster: a crowbar, snatched from the construction area around the raceway. 

The only silver lining with the robots was that they were dumber than a box of rocks. The endo just rushed for Gregory, not even trying to dodge when he wound up and swung. It might have looked intimidating with its wide shoulders and large hands, but there were so many delicate wires and moving parts exposed along its spine and clavicle.

The crowbar’s hooked end tore through a lot of that, leaving the endoskeleton twitching. He lashed out, kicking one of its ball-jointed knees backward. It collapsed sideways, sparks flying, and Gregory clubbed the back of its head until it had stopped moving. 

Sliding the crowbar away, Gregory gave himself a little shake to loosen up his tense shoulders, then hurried back to the girls. They stared at him with wide, awed eyes,

“Whoa,” Jenna whispered. 

“That was awesome!” Delaney whisper-shouted. 

Gregory smiled weakly. “Thanks. Now, c’mon. We’ve gotta keep moving.” 

They both nodded, and he was at least a little gratified that neither of them looked quite so scared. Dodging STAFF bots by the dozens, their progress was slow but steady. At Gregory’s direction, during their one close encounter, they scooted along the floor, hidden by a large walled planter, staying out of Chica’s sight. 

It was the tensest game of hide and seek Gregory had ever played. 

But at last, they slipped through the doors into the hall outside the daycare. The home stretch. 

Just as Gregory carefully closed the doors, a child’s scream echoed through the pizzaplex. He froze, instinct tearing him in two. He wanted to rush out there and find and help whoever’d probably just been caught. But he couldn’t leave Jenna and Delaney behind, not when they were so close to being safe-ish. 

Biting back curses, he took their hands and rushed them through the hall to the door to the actual daycare room. 

“Are you gonna go save them?” Delaney asked. Jenna looked to be on the verge of tears again. 

“I’m gonna do my best,” Gregory swore. “But I have to make sure you guys are okay first.” 

Delaney nodded, and Jenna sniffled and asked, “Will you come back?”

She was too young for him to make a morbid joke that only death could keep him away. “Yeah,” he said. “I’ll come back, and I’ll bring more kids when I do.” 

He hoped he wasn’t setting himself up to be a liar. 

The daycare was still brightly lit, and Gregory rushed to the railing. “Cassie?” he hissed, loud as he dared. 

“I’m here!” she called. “I’m in the play structure with Eclipse.” 

He paused in his move toward the slide. “With who?”

Her shrug was audible. “Whatever I did to fix Sun and Moon brought out Eclipse. He’s nice, promise, and way more, uh, reasonable, I guess.” 

Gregory ushered Jenna and Delaney down the slide. Eclipse, apparently, was waiting at the edge of the ball pit. “Welcome, welcome,” he said cheerfully, but Gregory could hear some well-hidden tension. As he gently lifted the girls out, he said to Gregory, “You must be Cassie’s friend! She’s told me a lot about you.” 

Gregory leaned up over the ledge, waving at Cassie, who was indeed inside the play structure. Delaney led Jenna over to one of the ramps that would led up to her. It wasn’t a bad place to hide; she was easily out of sight of anyone who tried to scope out the daycare from the balcony.

He almost wished she could go with him. Cassie would be able to keep up with him and watch his back. Or, she would’ve been able to, if not for the broken leg the crazy lady had given her by dropping her down an elevator shaft. 

“You’re not staying, are you?” Eclipse said. 

Gregory dropped back into the ball pit, already sidling toward the slide to climb out. “There’s more kids out there,” he explained helplessly. “Someone’s got to help them.” 

“You’re a kid, star-shine.” 

Gregory pressed his lips together and didn’t say anything. 

Eclipse sagged in place. 

“Keep them safe,” Gregory demanded. “Lock the doors, don’t trust any adults until this place opens up in the morning.” 

“No one will touch them,” Eclipse promised, hand over his heart, or where a heart would be. “I hope I see you again soon, Gregory.” 

“Yeah,” he muttered, ducking into the slide and scrambling up it, sneakers squeaking. “Me too.”

My Roommate is a Vampire by Jenna Levine 4/5 ⭐️

This book was so cute, campy and funny!! I loved the dynamic between the vampire Fredrick and his human roommate Cassie. The tension that picked up between them was so good! But the ending was a little lack luster for me, unfortunately. That’s the only reason I give it 4 stars. I felt like the ending could have been a little better - like it hit its climax and then ended more abruptly than I would have liked. But with all that being said, this book had me laughing and really rooting for these two characters to end up together.
