Bountiful radish harvest, featuring my very exuberant dill plant and non-ready radishes and strawberries in the background.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
On the left is my spinach. Only planted on the far side b/c the closer side doesn’t get rain. On the right is more radishes and alleged cilantro. It looks like dill but is growing like cilantro so it’s just a Mystery Herb.
Now I’m pickling a bunch of cucumbers and the radishes b/c apparently Thursday nights after work is when I have maximum spoons for everything.

Propaganda Under Cut
Peggy Carter
She’s a victim of Stucky mainly bc of the way marvel used her to give Steve an ooc ‘happy ending, but I know I’ve seen some posts calling her toxic or something it was 2019 so In CAT:FA, she’s introduced as a confident British agent. She has some chemistry w Steve Rogers (although more fans (on tumblr at least) preferred Steve and Bucky). She wasn’t just *woman who is strong*, but also had some emotional depth, with an actual range of emotion outside of angry and sad. She had a spin-off show, and she just continued to fight Russians and misogynists, even having chemistry in an almost wlw relationship and an eventual marriage to a famous shield agent. She went through character development and just was an awesome character. Then you know what endgame does? It has Steve Rogers travel back in time and take all of that development away. Most fans were mad at Marvel, and a lot were mad at Steve, but some fans threw Peggy completely under the bus, saying that they traded the (fanon?) queer ship/(canon) friendship for a bland love interest, which, um, she was so much more then that? I remember people really disliking Peggy, which isn’t fair to her character when she is/was so much more then that.
Peggy is vilified by people who ship Steve with his war comrade Bucky Barnes. I’ve even seen people claiming baselessly that she was secretly HYDRA the whole time.
She gets in the way of stucky which OBVIOUSLY gives people, most of them women themselves, the right to be ridiculously misogynistic. Dismissing her character arc, traits, presence in the movies and her part in Steve Roger's life, saying she is insignificant on the ground of very subjective readings is one thing, but outright calling her 'just some old coochie', among other colourful, wonderful things, is another. They also keep reaching to villainize her (saying she's a literal nazi which she's not) and cancel her so their ship is somehow made more valid for it, erasing the competition as it were.
Tea Gardener/Anzu Mazaki
She's friends with Yugi, the main protagonist, who is usually either shipped with his other self (Yami Yugi), or Yugi/Yami will be shipped with the main antagonist (Seto Kaiba). She tends to get demonised a LOT. I have read SO many stories where she is turned into this evil, scheming harpy of a woman who will get in the way of Twu Wuv.
the fandom does her so dirty bc she's in the way of at least 3 different yaoi ships she's so amazing and underrated tho she's such a great character
Was portrayed as a bitch very often in fandom! Is very not a bitch in canon! Supportive, occasionally snarky, occasional damsel in distress, good card player in her own right (this is important in universe, trust me), and very very loyal!

It was still and quiet in the main entryway in the Manor as Caroline gazed upon the massive, decorated tree in the center of it. She would have let out a sigh, but a kiss to her cheek got her attention before she could.
“Aren’t you supposed to be at the Barn already?” She asked as Carter snaked his arms around her waist and snuggled in close. He only hummed and shrugged in response so she lovingly nudged him for an answer.
“I decided to put it off for a day because I knew you couldn’t get off duty.”
“I don’t want you to miss out on time with your mom just because I’m on call.” She began to protest, but he just squeezed tighter.
“It’s fine, this way Parker and mom can have a girl’s night, plus I get an opportunity to give you your present.” Caroline was confused at that, having distinctly remembered already exchanging gifts with him on the Solstice.
“What do you mean?”
“Yes… but also I kept seeing the way you look at this tree.”
“Oh! That’s just because I wish it were a bit more like the trees back home is all.”
“The Norns right? I know you’re used to your trees a little more ‘au natural’.” He raised her hand and planted a kiss upon it before leading her out the door into the snowy grounds outside.
“Not to say that I think it’s ugly or anything,” Caroline continued, knowing by now that Carter wouldn’t let them be out in the cold long enough to bother them. “In fact I think the whole house did an amazing job with the decorations.”
“That they did, but this,” he said gesturing dramatically to an empty clearing in the nearby forest. “Is just for you.”
She was about to ask what he was referring to when she saw it; movement. The snow on the ground stirred and shifted as a sapling broke through. Tiny and delicate it danced out from the blanket of white as it grew at an unnatural pace.
Within moments, that felt longer than they surely were, a large Fir was before her. Not native to the region, and larger than any she had seen before (or likely would again), its raw and untamed beauty put even the shiniest Christmas tree in the Manor to shame.
“Oh my god Carter,” she breathed, afraid that if her surprise was too loud then it would somehow go away. “This is gorgeous!”
“Like the ones from home?” He asked in his boyish and hopeful way. She could have smacked him because of course it was and more! But then he reached down to take a handful of snow and gently blew- scattering it towards the tree and alighting it with twinkling globes of light.
“I know we’re past Yule and the Solstice, but I wanted to give you just a bit of the magic that makes you feel at home that you give me everyday.”
And it was there, surrounded by snow, she melted into him with a kiss.

My garden is done almost done!
Photo 1- Beefsteak Tomato plant (to its left is the almost-dead-soon-to-be-removed yellow pear tomato plant that has a fungus? Virus? Idk but it will be replaced by cucumbers in about 2 weeks once the cucumbers sprout)
Photo Dos- Grapes. Had grapes at my parents house when we moved in when I was 6. Immediately removed b/c it’s like cyanide to dogs. Those grapes have been haunting my dreams for 21 years. So I bought my own to grow.
Third Photo- the Goddamn Fuckin Invincible Blueberry Bush that I bought in early 2020 when Covid was everywhere. It refused to die when I left it at my apartment for 4 months in the middle of the SoCal summer. It has some fruit growing on it. It is My Beloved and as a treat I gave it some fresh soil
4rd Photo- Herbs, my other beloveds. We got Cilantro, thyme, and oregano. No, I don’t know which is thyme and which is oregano. Fun fact: I’ve been cooking with cilantro for like 2 years with my boyfriend and last week he finally told me that he isn’t a fan. He doesn’t taste soap, it’s just too potent. I am still Shook.
Photo Number 5: Beans beans the magical fruit. The more you eat the more you toot. The more you toot the better you feel, so beans beans for every meal. No, I will not elaborate.
Image 6: spinach. Because I can never finish a bag of Popeye’s favorite food before it goes bad. Now I can just pick what I need. To the right is some lettuce that hasn’t sprouted yet. I’ve unintentionally planted things in phases b/c I am a lazy ass
Image 7: Radishes, almost Ready for Harvest (and then they will be PICKLED, and then I shall consume. All. Of. Them.) in the planter to the right is a strawberry plant and dill, when it decides to get the show on the road. I’m patient.
Photo 8: ya so this is rhubarb and funny story: the beefsteak tomato plant went into the Rhubarb’s original pot b/c I thought I’d kill the rhubarb (no one told me it died off and grew back). So I pulled out this root-thing that looked like mutant ginger, realized it was the ‘dead’ rhubarb, and uh… ripped off the white fleshy covering thing that protects the baby stalks. So I thought I’d killed it again but replanted it in the red pot just in case. And now it’s back. It’s giving the blueberry bush a run for the ‘invincible’ title. This isn’t even my plant, it’s my dad’s that I bought him last year for his birthday.
Nine: the lime tree I just transplanted. Boyfriend requested lime tree for alcohol-related reasons. I just like the smell of the blossoms. It scored a few direct hits on my hands before I stole a pair of gardening gloves from my parents (in my defense, my parents are 3 minutes away, and the dog has a habit of eating gardening gloves so really I’ve preemptively saved the gloves from Mr Dingus)
Not shown:
the partially dead Jalapeño plant who did not like how cold the winter got. I’m hoping he perks up now that it’s usually above 60 degrees. About four of its children are in our freezer b/c I keep forgetting about them whenever I make soup
A strawberry plant that was a hitchhiker from the long brown pots, technically is my mother’s but she a-didn’t know it was there and b- I put it in my special favorite purple pot so it’s mine forever now
Daffodils that are theoretically going to flower? Idk. I just water them and tell them they’re pretty just how they are
2 soil pods that will hopefully sprout cucumber plants in a week. For pickling reasons.
Some green onions I’ve shoved into the other pots after I took these photos.
Christmas fern/ivy/poinsettia thingy next to my front door, from the fine purveyors of Costco.
Also the flamingo thing lights up and he needs a name.

Years ago I started knitting the Spider Queen shawl by Hazel Carter. I finished the center square and 1 1/2 of the sides, then got distracted. I eventually stole the needles for another project. Then moths chewed a couple of holes in it.
It was already unlikely that I'd finish it, even less likely now that I'd have to repair moth holes, in pattern, with lace weight single ply wool. But I couldn't bring myself to just throw it away either. So it stayed in my stash for over a decade, until my roommate suggested using it in the garden.
Now it rests on our fountain as a watering spot for bees. It hangs down into the fountain and wicks water up for the bees to drink. It's growing moss. When bees fall in they use it to climb out, we haven't found any drowned bees since we added it.
Literal lace rot, and it makes me happy every time I see it.
