Chapter I:ℜ𝔞𝔦𝔫𝔶 𝔇𝔞𝔶
Sodo/Dewdrop x fem!reader
Summary: Copia summons a new nameless ghoul
Word Count: 1977
Note: bad english, i'm new to this whole ghost thing, correct me if i'm wrong on anything, I will use a name for the protagonist for more practicality.
Chapter II...→
The place was devoured by darkness, thunder rumbled outside the abbey like cries from heaven in response to profane acts, the wind hit the stained glass windows and lightning illuminated them with a flash of light, stained glass windows that reflected images of Baphomet and other demons. . Regarding Cardinal Copia, his face seemed extremely serious, something unusual for him but the situation warranted it. In each corner of a pentagram were each Ghoul and Ghoulette, the tools of the ritual. It would be an important night, a gift for the group, a refreshing element for the world.
Copia looked up at the sky, looking behind the glass dome above their heads at the moon obscuring the sun, the time had come, he walked down the stairs towards the group, with a light touch to the ground and the gunpowder ignited, burning powerful and bright, until completing the figure of a pentagram connecting with each Ghoul. The group placed their instruments in front of them, giving each other a supportive look.
Montain set the rhythm with the drums, Cumulus took the keyboard with Cirrus, Swiss and Aurora started the singing, Phantom activated his rhythm guitar, Rain shone with his bass and Sodo showed off his guitar. The instrumental flooded the chapel, the melody reverberated in every foundation and made the place shake. The ritual had a single motive, a single need, each Ghoul gave his best, letting some of his essence flow over the fire, calling one of his own, inviting whatever responded on the other side to come out of the darkness and join them.
"Belial, Behemoth, Beelzebub" Cardinal Copia sang, calling to the great leaders, asking for a demon from among his legions "Asmodeus, Satanas, Lucifer"
The place was filled with abysmal and intelligible murmurs, beings from the other side of the pentagram observing from the shadows without daring to cross the threshold. Copia looked proud and excited like a child to feel so many presences present with him, all interested in her vocation. Lightning fell around the Ministry with more force than before, attracted by the power, Swiss and Aurora began their prayers, in a language that only the creatures of the abyss could understand.
A murmur rose from everyone, a shiver ran through the body of all the Ghouls, something had answered the call and had crossed.
Thick black smoke emerged from the gunpowder and condensed into a humanoid figure with no fixed features other than shining fangs. He made small jumps inside the pentagram from one side to the other, looking (if you can put it that way) at each of the ghouls, analyzing them with amusement.
He danced with small childish leaps from one to another, from air to earth, from earth to quintessence, from quintessence to water. She tried to get closer to Sodo, the fire demon. He showed her fangs and the small cloud of smoke walked away scared, it was clear that she didn't want another Fire Ghoul and honestly one was more than enough. She snuck between Montain's drum set cymbals, breaking her personal space several times to check her height in amazement, the ghoul couldn't help but smile nervously.
Cirrus and Cumulus greeted the entity excitedly, letting out small laughs to get its attention. The figure floated towards them and smiled back, playing with the cloaks on their shoulders. She briefly made eye contact with Rain, but out of shyness it wasn't long before the ghoul looked away from her. The specter laughed softly and danced around Phantom a little, plucking the strings of his acoustic guitar with his ethereal hand. Swiss and Aurora laughed at the scene, enjoying seeing how the humanoid being seemed delighted with everyone present, both demons rubbing shoulders in complicity.
Cardinal Copia was excited, this was his first ritual to summon Ghouls from hell, although he somewhat regretted Sodo's bitter attitude, he counted on the others and especially the Ghoulettes to give a good welcome.
The figure took one more turn and his laughter echoed like a child. He returned to the center of the pentagram, looking at the eclipse behind the dome, and raised his hands to the sky, as if he could touch the moon. One after another drops of cold rain began to fall quickly, until they almost became a sea on the ministry, the figure smiled and turned towards Aurora, the latter tensed immediately and one shiver after another crossed her back. The air began to get cold and become salty, capable of hurting the nose when inhaling, everyone could feel it, even demons like Sodo so carried away in their element felt cold, the type that you can only find if you get lost in space or in the last circle of the hell.
Aurora took a step back. The band's instrumental was accompanied by a piano and an energetic female voice, the humanoid figure approached Swiss and extended his hand.
"Hello" the figure greeted before a group of lightning fell again, filling the entire room with absolute white, extinguishing the infernal fire and thus ending the ritual.
Everything returned to darkness after such a dramatic birth, Cardinal Copia applauded excitedly and the lights turned on showing a strange lump covered with a thin and opaque black fabric, a hand with shiny black enamelled nails peeking out of it.
The ghouls avoid the gaze of the lump on the ground, somewhat uncomfortable and extremely tired. But Cardinal Copia waited to see the slightest movement to ensure that the ritual had gone perfectly.
The lump trembled with a movement similar to a first breath.
"Okay, everyone out." announcement, the Cardinal "It's time to find out what they have sent us from hell"
The group's rib cage calmed and a huge sigh of relief escaped everyone's lips. Cirrus and Cumulus crossed their fingers, it was no secret that since Aurora's arrival no girl ghoul had arrived. The ghoul area needs more feminine energy.
"Swiss, can you wait outside?" Copia asked him.
Like owl heads, the group looked at Swiss waiting for his response. Even the disinterested Montain had turned to look.
"Yes," he responded with the firmest tone he could fake.
Aurora approached and pulled one of her sleeves, she didn't have to speak, her concern was obvious. The last time it had been Aether who had stayed at the ritual to bring Phantom. Aether never came back.
Swiss approached Aurora's ear in a hug. "I'm not going anywhere," she whispered, trying to calm her agitated essence.
The ghoulette didn't believe him, clearly. But I trust him, because Swiss never lied.
Inside, Swiss's soul wanted to run after them, but his duty prevented him from showing that kind of rebellion.
He turned to the Cardinal, this walk way towards Swiss handing him a shiny new helmet, accompanied by the usual uniform.
Copia crouched in front of the bundle, lifting the fabric a little to discover what it was hiding, squinting in case everything had failed, giving it more suspense. The figure trembled and both Copia and Swiss took a few steps back.
Little by little the figure stood up, showing a wild tangle of short black hair from which two small black horns with white tips protruded, its tail uncoiled from around its leg and waved behind its back, its hands holding the blanket to avoid being naked.
"She's a she," Swiss sighed with the air contained in his lungs and his lower lip slightly fallen.
"Wonderful" Copia pronounced with some pride, the girl raised her head quickly and the Cardinal was met with a gaze of coal-black pupils and eyelids that contrasted with the glaucous blue of his irises, the creature opened its mouth showing its fangs, perhaps to speak but I don't breathe out any words.
Swiss knocked after the Cardinal, a sign that he should start talking before everything became awkward.
"Do you want to get dressed?" Copia asked in a friendly tone. The girl nodded and the Cardinal nudged Swiss lightly to hand the package to the demon.
Her eyes lit up when he saw her clothes and without shame he completely dropped her blanket, amazed by everything he had before her. Swiss immediately looked at the ceiling and prayed to Satan that Copia had done the same. The lack of what they called modesty was normal in new ghouls, small details that lost importance in hell.
"It would be ideal if you could start with the pants," suggested Copia who had turned around.
They heard the fabric slide down her legs, the metal buttons clicked as she pushed them into the buttonholes of her pants, the next time she put her feet on the ground it was with the boots, giving her a few extra inches of height.
She continued dressing, tucking the Victorian-sleeved blouse into her arms and securing the vest to her body. She looked at herself for a few minutes, satisfied with her appearance.
"Already?" Copia asked, who had turned around with a hand over his eyes, he seemed somewhat uncomfortable or self-conscious about the situation.
"Yes" A feminine and friendly voice answered him.
Copia looked through his fingers to make sure before removing his hand from his face and remembering that he had a script to follow and had to start as soon as possible.
"Ahem…" He cleared his throat and began to speak. Swiss stood silently next to he, holding her helmet. "Do you know why you're here?"
"Yes" replied with a timid tone.
"You are here to be part of Ghost, to help me with your talent to bring the message of the Clergy to the whole world, do you understand that?" The young woman nodded "Do you understand that you are not indispensable and can be replaced if you become a stone in my way to fulfill my mission?" That was the part of Copia that he hated the most because he tended to get more attached to his ghouls and ghoulettes than he should, the punishment of returning to hell was too great for small delusions of fame or prominence, that is, he had forgiven Sodo several of those but He remembered that that was the reason why Papa Emeritus III had been taken out of circulation.
"I understand, sir." He pronounced as seriously as the situation warranted. "My only duty is to help you fulfill your duty to the Clergy and bring our Lord's message to the world."
The girl walked forward, face to face with Cardinal Copia. Now came the fun part, Copia took the helmet from Swiss's hands and placed it on the girl's head, thus sealing the 'contract'.
"Well…I…" Copia took a moment to remember the next step. "What's your name?"
"Aesir, sir," she responded quickly, almost over the Cardinal's question.
"Well…Aesir, the third quintessence ghoul" He raised his voice, proclaiming. "Welcome, dear" Copia lost the threatening and vehemently image that she had maintained until then, when she gave Aesir a warm welcome hug.
The girl seemed happy to have that hug but Swiss was sweating cold.
"He's one of your companions, Swiss," Copia said and the demon approached and extended his hand towards her.
"Hello," Aesir took Swiss's hand, shaking it in greeting.
"Swiss" I call Copia.
He sighed, afraid of the next words the Cardinal might say.
"Could you take Aesir with the others?" The ghoul's mouth opened a little in surprise, he was expecting farewell words "The girls will be very happy to see another female face in the pavilion."
Swiss smiled with deep relief and nodded. "Yes, Cardinal." He directed the girl to the door. "After you," he offered chivalrously.
"Oh, Aesir," Copia called. "If there is any problem, don't hesitate to tell me. In cases of emergencies or things like that." The Cardinal said goodbye.
"Bye," she said as Swiss closed the door behind them both.
I hope you like it, I'm new to the fandom and the lore is somewhat complicated, all help would be VERY welcome.

And We Are Tied As One Eternally-XII
Fandom: Ghost Rating: Explicit Warnings: none for this chapter Relationships: Papa Emeritus IV/Copia x OFC Additional Tags: soft!dom Copia, eventual smut, developing relationship, kind of a slow burn, no beta reader Chapter Word Count: 2370 Summary: Ellie Moran just wanted to make a new life for herself. Running to escape the people in her past, she ends up in a small town in the middle of nowhere that happens to be home to a Satanic church. She never expected her life to change again after she started attending the public masses at said church. Ao3 || Masterlist Chapters: 12/? Copia sat with Ellie, answering questions for the next couple of hours. They talked and ate pizza while Ellie expressed her frustrations over not understanding anything she had just seen. He understood. Despite having grown up in the church and around infernal magick and demons, there was still a lot he didn’t understand himself.
“I should go to bed,” Ellie said, looking at her phone and seeing how late it was getting. “I…” She looked up at Copia. “Can…can you stay? I don’t want to be alone.”
He felt his heart flutter at her question. “Of course,” he said. “If that’s what you want and will make you feel comfortable, then I will stay.”
“Thank you,” she said, sounding relieved. He watched as a pretty blush crept up on her cheeks. “I guess you can stay in my bed,” she said. “The couch isn’t very comfortable to sleep on…”
“Only if you are comfortable with that,” Copia said. He wanted nothing more than to lay in bed with her, but he wouldn’t do it unless that’s what she wanted. He didn’t want to push any boundaries with her and ruin the relationship they were building.
“We’re both adults, and I trust you,” Ellie said. “I’m just sorry I don’t have a toothbrush for you, but you can use some of my mouthwash if you want.”
A few minutes later Copia was looking around her bedroom as Ellie was finishing her nightly routine in the bathroom. There was a lack of anything on the walls and Copia realized it was because Ellie didn’t want to make the place feel like home if she was going to have to move again. A lot of her furniture was old and he wondered if she rented the apartment already furnished. He couldn’t see Ellie lugging all these pieces of the stairs by herself even if she bought them all secondhand. He moved to her dresser where she had a picture of a man that looked like her in a military uniform. Copia knew that was her father. Next to the frame was an assortment of crystals along with the necklace she wore all the time.
“You mentioned you believed crystals could protect you,” Copia said when Ellie came into the room. He turned to look at her and found himself breathless. She was in long, loose-fitting, blue pajama pants and a black t-shirt that seemed to cling to every curve of her body. She was stunning.
“Oh, yeah, I guess,” Ellie said. “A few years ago I got really into occult stuff—crystals, tarot cards, stuff like that. I always liked the idea that crystals have energies and properties that could be used for healing for protection. I picked some up from a little shop and the lady who ran it gave me this black tourmaline necklace. She said it would help ward off negative energies. I felt like I needed it so I wear it every day. For the most part, it’s done me well I suppose. Well, until recent events.” Ellie shrugged. “But that’s not the fault of a crystal. I guess…I guess this was always meant to happen the way it did.” She shrugged. “What do you think? Do you think they hold power?”
“I do,” Copia said. “We use crystals and herbs in a lot of rituals. Witchcraft and the occult are welcomed practices in our faith. They often go hand-in-hand with one another.” He watched as she pulled back the blankets on her bed and got in. “I’m going to use you bathroom and then I’ll be right back.”
Ellie nodded and he left the room for the little bathroom next door. He closed the door behind him and let out the breath he had been holding since the moment he got the call from the ghouls. When they told him that Ethan had gotten into her apartment and had her, Copia thought everything was over before it started—that he wasted what precious little time he had with her and that she had slipped from his fingers. He reminded himself to breathe.
He hadn’t lost her. She was safe, unharmed, and more importantly, free of the man who made her life a nightmare. Ellie was free to live and thrive and he wanted nothing more than for her to do those things.
Copia splashed some water onto his face, removing as much of the black paint around his eyes and on his upper lip as he could. He took a swig of the mouthwash Ellie offered and rinsed his mouth before returning to her bedroom. She was already in bed, sitting up against her pillows on one side with the cover pulled up to her waist.
“Thanks for staying,” Ellie said as Copia toed off his shoes and sat down on the edge of the bed. “I don’t think I’ll be able to sleep tonight if I am alone.”
“You had quite the day,” he said. “I’m happy to help, even if it’s just to be here so you can sleep.”
She smiled and he felt his heart, which was already racing from anxiety, begin to race for another reason. To see her sitting there warm in her bed and safe made every single panic-inducing thought all worth it in the end.
“You gonna sit on the edge like that all night?” Ellie asked. There was amusement in her stormy eyes and he felt his cheeks warm.
“Eh, no,” he said, pushing himself deeper into the bed, lifting his feet off the floor, and sitting against the headboard.
Ellie laughed as she slipped under the covers and laid her head on her pillow. She was on her side, facing him and Copia knew he wanted to end every day like this—them in bed together just talking until they went to sleep.
“I have an alarm on my phone set for eight,” she said. “I have to go to work tomorrow.”
“I can’t tell you what to do, but I think you should call off and take the day to process everything,” he suggested as he pulled the blankets over his legs.
“I can’t,” Ellie sighed. “I need the money, and I don’t need my boss giving me a hard time about calling off.”
“Very well, but promise you will try to take it easy?”
“I promise,” she yawned. “I’m going to try to sleep now. Good night, Copia.”
“Good night, tesoro,” he said.
“Hmmm you still haven’t told me what those names mean,” she said, her eyes closed, one hand under her pillow and the other holding her part of the blankets to her chin, creating a mock cocoon for herself.
Fucking adorable, he thought.
“I’ll tell you. Maybe tomorrow though. Get some sleep.” He hoped he didn’t look like a psycho as he watched sleep claim her and her breathing became deep and even. When a strand of her dark blonde hair fell over her eyes, he gingerly swept it back without causing her to stir.
After another minute he slid down into the bed and laid on his back, listening to her breathing next to him. It all felt right, as though this was how his life was supposed to be.
But he knew it wasn’t…not yet anyway…
Ellie woke when a strip of sunlight peeked through the one broken blade of her blinds and shined right into her eye. She clenched her eyes hard, trying to fight the urge to wake. She knew her alarm hadn’t gone off yet, but she didn’t want to get up yet. She was so comfy with her blanket wrapped around her, the heavyweight against her back, and the arm draped over her stomach.
Her eyes popped open at that.
She was still as she felt the body spooning her while her mind searched for an explanation. Copia, she thought. It’s just Copia. I asked him to stay and he did and now he’s spooning me. She knew he probably didn’t mean to and that he did it unconsciously, but she didn’t want to embarrass him if he woke up and they were still in that position.
No matter how comfortable Ellie felt or how right it all felt.
She felt so cared for and safe, and she didn’t want to leave. If she had it her way they’d stay like that until the end of time. But her logic told her she needed to get up before he woke up, so she very carefully slipped out from his hold, grabbed her phone, and padded her way to the bathroom. A couple minutes later she emerged and began to boil some water for some tea. She was glad she had two mugs and hoped Copia liked tea.
At eight she let her alarm go off before silencing it and taking the boiling kettle off the heat. She poured the water over the teabags in each mug and added sugar and milk to her own before going into her bedroom.
Copia had rolled over onto his stomach since she left the bed. His arm was draped over her pillow and Ellie didn’t want to wake him. She knew she had to though. He was probably busy and she had to work in an hour. She came up to his side of the bed and gently shook his shoulder.
“Copia,” she said softly. “It’s eight.”
He groaned. “Okay, okay,” he muttered as he sat up. He rubbed his eyes and blinked, as though he didn’t remember where he was at first. He looked around and then his eyes landed on her. “Buongiorno.”
“Morning,” Ellie responded. “I have tea if you want some. No coffee though, sorry.”
“Tea is great,” Copia said as he swung his legs over the side of the bed. “I prefer tea over coffee in the morning anyway.”
“Sleep well?” Ellie asked, curious to know if he remembered holding her.
“Si, I did. Very well actually. How about you?”
“I think that might have been the best night of sleep I’ve ever had,” Ellie admitted as she led the way into the kitchen after Copia got his shoes on. “I didn’t put any sugar or milk in your tea. I didn’t know how you liked it.”
“A little bit of sugar and a little bit of milk,” he said pinching his fingers. Ellie watched as he prepared his tea and made note of the ratios he used. “The best night of sleep you ever had, huh?”
“Yeah,” Ellie said. “Because…because I didn’t have to worry for the first time in years.” It wasn’t a complete lie, but it wasn’t totally the truth. She knew it was because he was there and he was holding her.
“Ah, yes that is a nice feeling isn’t it?” He said before sipping his tea. “What are you going to do with your newfound freedom?”
“Finally live my life,” Ellie smiled. “I’m going to stay here and work on making this place a home.”
Copia beamed. “Good.”
After her tea was finished, Ellie excused herself to get ready for work. Once she was dressed she found Copia washing her mugs. “You didn’t have to do that,” she said.
“It’s alright,” Copia said. “I want to help.” He tried his hands with a paper towel and turned to her, looking her up and down. Ellie didn’t think she looked particularly special. She was just in jeans and a black long-sleeved shirt. “Do you mind if I walk you to work?”
“I don’t mind,” Ellie said.
They were standing outside of the bookstore fifteen minutes later. Ellie already knew it was going to be a bad day when she saw Charles arguing with one of her coworkers through the window. The man was red in the face and she could have sworn she saw spittle flying from his mouth as he silently yelled at the part-time shop assistant.
“I better get in there,” Ellie said. “Poor Ryan looks like he’s about to wet himself.”
Copia looked at the scene through the window and hummed in response.
As though he could sense eyes on him, Charles looked up and saw Ellie and Copia standing outside. He then marched over to the door and flung it open. “You’re late,” he snapped at Ellie.
“No, I’m not,” Ellie said. “I’m three minutes early.”
“Just get in here. We had a huge shipment come in yesterday and it needs to be put out on the floor,” he said before looking at Copia. Charles looked him up and down and sneered before looking back to Ellie. “This devil worshipper bothering you?” He asked before looking back to Copia. “We don’t allow soliciting here, buddy.”
“I’m not your buddy,” Copia said, eyes growing dark. “And I’m not soliciting. I was walking Ellie to work.”
Charles looked back to Ellie for confirmation. “You know this guy?”
“Yes,” Ellie said and she could already hear the insults Charles was ready to throw. “Copia is my friend and he was walking me to work.”
Charles looked back at Copia and glared before retreating into the shop. Ellie sighed. Today was not going to be a good day.
“Are you going to be okay?” Copia asked her.
“Yeah. I’ll be fine. Charles is just a bully and a bigot. Nothing I can’t handle,” Ellie said.
“Well, if you need anything, please let me know,” Copia said taking her hand and bringing it to his lips, pressing a kiss to her knuckles before releasing it. “I’ll see you soon?”
Ellie smiled and felt the pink seep into her face. “Yes. Gemma invited me to hang out after work tomorrow, so I’ll be up there then.”
“Wonderful,” he said before looking back at the window where Charles was yelling at the young assistant again. “Call me when you get off. I want to make sure that….man didn’t ruin your day.”
“I will. I’ll see you later,” Ellie said with a smile before going into the shop. She clocked in and turned to Charles for her assignment for the day.
“You can unpack and stock all the new Bibles and Christian fiction titles,” he said with a cruel smirk.
Ellie bit back a groan and made her way to the backroom.

The Future is a Foreign Land
Summary: In this chapter, ten years down the road, we witness how each character has handled life without the clergy for better or for worse.
Word Count: 500
***10 years in the future***
Addeline stood in the foyer, waiting for Swiss to arrive. The band was in the midst of creating a new album, and he was coming over with the rest of the ghouls to collaborate. Papa Emeritus had redirected the ministry's focus from world domination back to the music, much to Sister's dismay.
After eliminating the clergy members, he assured her that they could conquer the world through song and in a positive way. Although it didn't satisfy Imperator's thirst for blood, she resigned herself to doing whatever made her son happy. She had always known he had a gentle heart.
Swiss pulled up with Sodo and Cirrus in tow, the rest of the ghouls following closely behind. Addeline opened the door and greeted him with a warm smile. "Hey," she beamed, giving him a kiss on the cheek, "No Aurora today?"
Swiss chuckled and ran a tired hand through his hair. "She's pretty exhausted. Being pregnant really takes it out of you."
Addeline laughed. "Is your oldest not helping out?"
"Well, you have my oldest, Adds. But if you're talking about my soon-to-be middle child, then no... she's not much help." He redirected the attention back to Addy, "How much longer until your little one makes an appearance?"
Addy smiled, her hand gently cradling her growing belly. "A few more months now," she replied, her voice tinged with anticipation. "It's going to be a boy... not that that matters anymore. Papa said he's getting too old to raise babies. He mentioned getting a vasectomy soon."
With curious eyes, Swiss asked, "Got any cool names picked out?"
Addy paused, lost in thought. "Well, if he had been a girl, his name would have been Genesis. But since he's a little boy, we're going with Impera."
Swiss's eyes widened in amusement. "To divide and conquer."
Addy smiled warmly. "Exactly."
"My favorite Ghost album."
They shared a hearty laugh, the thought of everyone's growing family bringing a lightness to their hearts.
After the laughter subsided, Swiss raised his arm, holding his guitar in the air as he asked, "Well, where's Papa Emeritus at?"
"You mean Frater Imperator?" Addy replied, raising an eyebrow.
Swiss nodded, subtly acknowledging the change of his title.
"He's in the studio with the new frontman right now," Addy pointed in the direction of his desired destination.
Swiss quickly and sharply corrected her, "You mean front WOMAN?"
"Yes, I forgot. Elizabeth has insisted on calling herself that. She says it has a ring to it. She's waiting for you. She has so many ideas. Papa can't keep her contained."
Addy and Swiss walked down the corridor together, each step echoing with memories of the past, as the familiar scent of incense transported them back to countless rehearsals, late-night conversations and lustful afternoons.
As they moved, the distant hum of music and muffled voices grew louder, signaling their approach to the studio. Elizabeth's voice rang out, strong and proud, reverberating through the walls. Her mother's eyes glistened with pride, a silent testament to the legacy she always believed Elizabeth would uphold.

Chapter 2 - Ethereal Tears
Copia couldn't focus.
All he could think about was Ren. He was unable to sleep no matter how hard he tried, tossing and turning in his bed as he mentally scolded himself for leaving him in the graveyard so soon.
Finally, at around 3 in the morning, he couldn't take it anymore. He got up and grabbed a cloak, slipping it over his pajamas and heading straight out of the castle. Before he left, he stared at his gloves.
Maybe…
He slid them on hastily before quickly walking out towards the graveyard.
Soft crying could be heard, yet Ren was nowhere to be seen when Copia entered. Ren was hiding behind yet another headstone, curled into a ball and weeping into his hands. No tears fell, just pure, raw, painfully quiet sobs.
Copia's heart shattered in his chest.
He had a sneaking suspicion that he was crying and it pained him, oh how much it pained him to hear Ren’s quiet sobs.
He slowly walked in the direction of the headstone, moving quietly through the rows of tombstones so as to not startle him.
His hands itched from the desperate urge to touch him, to hold him and wipe away his tears.
He finally arrives in the row where Ren was hiding behind the headstone, a feeling of dread forming in his gut as he took in the sight of him crying.
"Ren," he called out softly, as if his voice would rip in two from the sheer amount of wanting he had. "Please... look at me," he whispers, his heart aching for the ghost. “What’s wrong, my dove?”
"It's nothing," Ren sniffled, lifting his head. His white eyes were glassy, his cheeks glossy from the ethereal tears. "It's just my curse..."
Copia's heart ached when he saw Ren’s glossy cheeks and glassy eyes. He wanted nothing more than to brush his knuckles against the other’s skin, to run his fingers through his silvery-brown hair like he had longed to.
He huffs out a quiet, bitter laugh before replying, "A curse, dove? What kind of curse do you have?"
Ren sits up a little more properly, wiping his face with his hand. "Every night, I must weep... for the lost souls. Those that have been buried in here, this cemetery… yet have not found mercy in their eternal punishment. I cannot leave... I'm stuck."
Copia frowns and his gaze softens, full of sympathy for the ghost. "You cannot... move on..." he murmurs, watching as Ren wiped his face.
He swallows, his heart clenching again. "You have to... cry... every night- for all of these poor, lost, unforgiven souls." He says this quietly, barely audible.
"What kind of cruel fate is that... to not only be stuck here- in this graveyard, but forced to be in pain... every day, every night..." He mutters this quietly, almost as if talking to himself, trying to wrap his head around Ren’s punishment.
"I... I was too young to be eternally punished when I died, yet not pure enough to be spared," Ren whispered. "I was told.. never to leave the grounds. But I want- I want to see the world; I want to explore.. that is also why I weep."
Copia's heart sinks.
He swallows audibly, trying to push back his sorrow, sadness, and empathy for Ren. Yet, he couldn't help but reach out and instinctively try to touch his cheek.
This time, Copia's glove does touch Ren's pale face, and was immediately met with the freezing temperature of his cold body. Ren blinked, his brow furrowing.
"You're... touching me... but how?"
He had instinctively reached out to touch Ren’s cheek, his fingers desperately trying to soothe away the other’s tears, when they met the freezing cold of his skin. Copia lets out a quiet shaky breath, his fingertips running down his cheek. He had never touched a ghost before. He had never even thought about what it would be like. Yet now, he'd gotten such a small taste, and he wanted more. More, and more, and more.
He didn't care that touching Ren’s skin was like touching an ice block- no, he didn't care one bit. As long as he could touch him, even if it was only for a brief second.
And he doesn't withdraw his hand either, letting it still rest on Ren’s freezing cold skin as he looks deep into the other’s glassy eyes.
The warmth radiating off Copia's glove stirred Ren's insides, causing him to cry again. Phantom tears rolled onto the leather of Copia's glove, dissolving into the air once they came in contact with the fibers.
"It- it's been so long... I'd forgotten what it felt like to be touched..." Ren whispered through quiet sobs. "You're so warm..."
Copia's heart aches.
Too goddamn long.
His hand trembles as he continues to touch Ren’s cheek, feeling how cold and soft his face is under his touch.
"I-" he swallows hard and lets out a shuddering breath, his own eyes stinging in the corners. "You're cold, maledizione, you're so cold and pale and beautiful... precious, my precious dove..."
He continues to slowly caress Ren’s cheek with his gloved hand, wanting nothing more than to pull him into his arms and warm him with his body.
"I don't care if you're cold, I don't care if touching you feels like touching a block of ice. All I care about is you, my dove.” He whispers, his voice wavering slightly.
"No," Ren says, pulling away abruptly even though his heart ached. "No, this... this cannot happen... I won't let it..."
Copia lets his hand drop as Ren yanks himself away from him. He feels like someone had just dumped a bucket of cold water over his head, feeling the sudden loss of Ren’s cold skin.
"This... this can happen.." he says through gritted teeth, reaching out in an attempt to grab him. "Damn it, Ren, what do you mean..?!"
"I cannot give you what you desire, human," Ren sobbed, standing up. "I am cursed. I cannot- I don't know what I can or cannot do anymore, but... I will lose you too... and I cannot bear to lose another."
Copia stands up as well, taking a step towards Ren and reaching out. He doesn't care if it'll be like trying to grab smoke, he needs him to be back in his reach.
"You won't, you won't lose me- I won't let you," he grits out, his eyes narrowing. "You can't be scared- dove, you can't be scared of me-"
He moves towards Ren suddenly and grips his shoulders, keeping him in place. "Don't be scared, don't be scared, it's me. You know me, you've seen me a thousand times. Don't push me away, I beg of you. Don't leave me here alone." Copia's voice breaks, and the desperation in it is clear.
Ren tenses, more of his ethereal tears streaming down his face. His ghostly presence flickers as he tries to keep his composure.
"But I don't even know your name," he whispered, his lip trembling.
Copia swallows hard and lets his hands travel up Ren’s shoulders, all the way up his face until it is cradled in his gloved hands.
"Copia. My name is Cardinal Copia," and by god, he wanted to kiss him. He wanted to kiss Ren’s cold lips and hold him and warm him with his body.
He gently brushes away the tears from Ren’s cheeks without looking away from his glittering, glassy eyes, and moves closer as he speaks, moving one of his hands to the nape of Ren’s neck.
"Don't forget my name," he whispers, his fingers moving up to thread through Ren’s silvery-brown hair. "Don't you dare forget my name, my dove."
Ren could only sob in response, fear and sorrow and yearning washing over him. His pale hands gently hovered over Copia's gloved ones, his milky white eyes taking in Copia's face. "I won't.."
"No, don’t cry… don’t cry, dove, shh…" Copia attempts to sooth Ren, though his own emotions quickly become a mess.
"I cannot... kiss you, hug you, hold you... I cannot feel your skin without... without a pure substance in the way to buffer," Ren sniffled. "You have to understand, I-I can only touch pure metals... and mixed fibers.."
Copia's breath stutters and gets caught in his chest as Ren’s words sink into his head.
He'd thought about kissing him , holding him, hugging him, and more many times. He'd imagined it over and over again, imagined what it would be like to have his cold, fragile body in his arms. He'd even dreamt of it all, but-
"You cannot..." he echoed quietly, his hands stilling, "you cannot touch flesh?"
Ren nodded sadly.
Copia swallows hard, a painful lump forming in his throat as he thinks over Ren’s words.
He'd been so desperate to touch him- hold him, kiss him - yet he'd forgotten that he was a human, and Ren was a ghost.
No matter how badly he wanted to hold the other in his arms and kiss him until he couldn't breathe, he couldn't. Ren'd just slip through his fingers like smoke.
He looks down at the ghost, holding his face in his gloved hands, "That damn curse..."
Yet, as he stood there holding you in his hands, a sudden idea popped into his head.
He didn't know if it would work, or if it was even possible to do, but he was desperate to touch Ren- to feel every part of him.
He wanted to have him, even if it was just for one night.
"Can you... touch gold?"
Ren blinked as he thought. An odd question, though he understood why it needed to be asked.
"I-I've never tried…"
Copia lets out a breath of relief that Ren can at least possibly touch gold. He was determined to make it work, to have him in any way he could.
"You've never.. tried?" He repeated, a hint of excitement to his voice that hadn't been there before. "Hold on, I-" he says suddenly and steps away from Ren.
He had a silver and gold Grucifix rosary around his neck. It was a symbol of his un-faith, and he was about to commit the most unholy act of his life.
Copia grabbed the rosary around his neck and yanked it off him, the chain digging into his skin as he did. He barely even noticed.
"Touch it," he commanded, holding the necklace in front of the ghost, "try and touch it."
Ren lifted a single finger, hesitating to touch the rosary. When he did, his finger burned. He yelped and flinched away, holding his hand close to his chest. He began to sob again, his soft cries echoing in the eerie cemetery.
Copia's own hands curled into fists, and he clenched his jaw as he watched the spirit attempt to touch the rosary and cry out in pain as it burned his skin. He didn't know that the rosary would burn him, he'd been so sure it would work. He wanted the other so desperately and yet now he'd hurt him, in both body and mind.
He let the rosary drop onto the grass as he moved back towards you. "Are you- are you alright?"
"Just- just leave me alone," he whispered, turning away from Copia and floating off into the fog. "I knew I shouldn't have... shouldn't have trusted you.."
Copia swallows hard, watching you float off and disappear into the fog. He felt like an idiot- he'd hurt Ren.
No, no, no.
He couldn't leave him alone, not after what he'd done. He had to explain, he had to try and make up for it.
Before he knew what he was doing, he was after him, moving deep in the fog that surrounded the cemetery.
"Wait, please!" Copia called out as he moved through the fog. He could vaguely see Ren's figure in front of him, and he continued to follow it. "You need to know that it was an accident, I didn't know that the rosary would burn you, I swear!"
Copia continued through the fog hastily, not realizing where he was heading. He'd tripped over a log and almost fell into a hole in the ground, but Ren turned around at the right moment. He quickly reached out to grab Copia and yank him back upright, both of them pausing as they realized what Ren had just done.
Copia's heart had just about jumped out his throat as he tripped and almost fell into the goddamn hole, when suddenly he felt a firm, yet freezing cold grasp on his arm.
He looked up, expecting to see him, when he realized. Ren was holding him - touching him with his bare, icy cold fingers. Both of them froze, staring at each other as a wave of realization crashed into the two like a truck.
"I... I don't understand..." Ren whispered, his voice wavering as he felt more ethereal tears drip down his translucent skin.
Copia swallowed, his breath shuddering and his heart hammering in his chest as Ren held his arm. He stared at the other, his breathing uneven and fast as he slowly reached up with his free hand to touch his.
"You're- You're touching me," he whimpered, his voice almost breaking as his fingers met your impossibly cold skin.
"I can feel your warmth... your energy," Ren sniffled. "But not your flesh. I-I don't understand it at all… why could you go through me before, yet not now?"
Copia's breath hitches as Ren said he could feel his warmth and energy. He can barely process the ghost's words through the adrenaline rushing through his body.
"I- I-" his words got stuck in his throat as his fingers carefully wrapped around Ren's hand. "I-I don't care why you can- you can touch me... I don't care why. Just... Just don't let go."
"Okay," he nodded, although his essence was trembling. "Okay, I'll…I won't let go."
Copia lets out a shuddering breath, carefully lacing his gloved fingers through Ren's and holding Ren's hand gingerly between his own.
"You're... you're cold," he says simply, his breathing still a little uneven.
"And you're… so warm."
Copia looks back up at Ren's face, staring into his milky eyes, iridescent tears and trembling lips, realization slowly dawning on him.
He can never truly hold him, kiss him, have him. He can only look at Ren, and that realization alone feels like a punch to the gut and a stab in the heart all at once. Copia's breath becomes shaky, and he swallows, his mismatched eyes becoming glassy.
Ren is right in front of him, but he is not his to hold and kiss and love. Ren is a ghost with an icy body, while Copia's a living, breathing man who needs, and Ren is a need he will never be able to satisfy.
"I want to be with you, oh, how I want to," Ren whimpered. "I wish I wasn't dead... I wish I was alive again with you.."
The more the spirit spoke, the more Copia felt his heart breaking. With each whimper his chest twitches slightly, the organ in it aching and squeezing. He can’t even speak right now without his voice shaking and cracking.
“Me too,” he replied, barely above a whisper. “I wish you weren’t dead… I wish you were alive, so I could touch you and love you like how I need to…”
"Promise me something," Ren sniffled. "Promise me... you won't ever harm yourself as a means to become a ghost with me. Live your life, Copia. I did not, and now I pay my price."
Copia's heart drops when Ren asks him to promise him that. The very thought of him harming himself, to become a ghost and stay with him forever does send a thrill through his body-
But he knows Ren is right. He can’t do that, can’t harm himself, he can’t kill himself to join the other in the afterlife. It’s still a hard one to promise, and he has to take a sharp breath in and close his eyes to try to focus.
“I… promise,” Copia whispers, his voice strained.
"Thank you," Ren nodded, a hint of a smile playing at his lips before he drifted away into the fog once more.

Vignettes of Paradise
Vignette III
Pairing: Papa Emeritus IV x Original Female Character
Summary: Copia gazed up at his official portrait, how lonely it looks without his love. His love, however, is in quite the sour mood. Even if she doesn’t see it, his love for her is always visible.
Warning: slightly suggestive material
AO3 Link!
Copia had treasured watching the sunset from his luxurious office. A far cry from the cramped office from his Cardinal days. Designed to his humble preferences, with small luxuries - dark, oak wood and rich brown leather couches, chairs, and royal blue curtains, pillows and accents throughout the room. Over the beautiful dark fireplace, his portrait commanded the room.
He objected to his portrait being in his office, something about seeing himself constantly, watching over his actions felt like vanity and generally unnerving. However, the upper clergy reminded him that, indeed, vanity is a sin. In case he forgot what sort of church he was leading.
As he gazed at the portrait, he longed for the day when the painting came down and updated.
How beautiful the portrait would be once his Evie joined him. Could the artist capture the way the sun shined in her eyes - showing the complexities of her eyes? Would it catch the perpetual flush to her cheeks? Oh how he hoped they would.
One day, he would not be worried about his visage watching his work; his lover would watch over him.
Lost in thought at the portrait, Evie stormed into the room, immediately alerting Copia that something was wrong. How sweet she normally was, now utterly grumpy!
Her nose scrunched as she planted herself on Copia’s couch. Copia had learned better than to comment on how adorable she looked when she was mad. Still, though, her sour mood worried him.
“My love, what’s wrong?” He asked, sitting next to her.
“Oh!! I’m so mad!” She started. “And no advice right now, I just need to be heard.”
“You have my word, tell Papa what’s wrong.”
“All day long! People have been staring at me! At the infirmary people would not look me in the eyes, but they wouldn’t stop staring at me! It was infuriating. And when I talked to Diana, she did it too.” She began, already raising her voice.
“I asked her, ‘what, do I have something on my face?’ And she was like, ‘nope, not at all, Evie.’ And then she laughed. I was just so busy, I had no time to think, but every time I spoke to someone or walked past someone, they would just stare at me. Then they would start giggling and someone said, ‘hey Evie, how’s old Papa doing?’ What does that have to do with my face!”
“Evie…” Copia began to interject.
“No, I’m not done.” She said, smiling only a flash, reassuring him that she was certainly not frustrated with the aforementioned Papa! “And I love you so very much, obviously, but I would hate to think that people think I get everything I want here just because we’re, you know, boyfriendgirlfriend.”
“Oh amore! That is not true!”
“How do I know that, I can’t ever tell what people are thinking. And why do they see my face and immediately think of you!”
“Perhaps, ah sorry, are you ready for the advice?” Copia hesistated.
“Maybe, but what could you say that would help me understand what people are thinking?”
“Eh, maybe I could show you?”
Copia grabbed her hand, hoisting her up, as they headed to their shared bedroom. Evie had a confused expression at the sudden change of scenery.
“Copia, why are we going over to the bedroom?” Evie became even more confused, convinced that fucking would not really help her mood.
“No more words, amore. Just follow me.”
He led her to the en-suite bathroom, guiding her, holding her hand.
Before they stepped much further into the bathroom, he paused, turning to her.
“I know why the siblings were staring at you all day. And it’s not because of your radiant beauty, although it stops me dead in my tracks. It is not because we are involved, and certainly, you are not given any advantages simply because of that. You work very hard, Evie, do not discredit yourself.”
A pout grew on her face, as her eyes began to well. He gently guided her into the room, turning her towards the mirror. Evie half expected a lesson in self-love. But as she began to take in her reflection, she saw the two of them. She was still dining her habit and veil, but she took in her face.
Her eyes immediately followed to her forehead.
“Oh.” She quietly said. Her expression changed suddenly.
Squarely on her forehead, a prominent black kiss mark was unmissable.
“Oh.” She repeated.
She recalled Copia kissing her forehead this morning; she was running late and left just as Copia was finishing his paints for the day.
Copia was sure that Evie would eventually wipe away the mark. But alas, here it remained, a half a day later. In pristine condition. She didn’t even notice it.
“Oh, I am not very smart, copia.”
“Ah, of course you are, my Evie! You have said it before, you have book smarts and maybe less of the street smarts.”
Evie giggled for the first time in hours.
“Perhaps when we make our clergy portrait, you can have a little kissy mark on your forehead, then, too, heh?”
“Oh you wouldn’t dare!” She teased back.
That evening, Copia ensured that she had plenty of matching kiss marks all over her body.

More art of Copia and my OC Enzo. My original plan on here wasn’t to post nearly as much OC content as I have but people haven’t been mean about him, and I don’t want my account to die on here (I haven’t drawn much else lately lol).
I am cringe but I am free.
