Speechless, this was how he had wanted things to be before, when he saw her again. His suspicion that she was dead soon before he left was only partially right. The feelings he had for her then became like a fire in his chest that he couldn’t ignore anymore. She was a drug, regardless of what happened during their first encounter, having her close like this; those words she spoke all played a certain chord on his heart strings.
The lighter clothing he wore allowed for her fingers, even gloved, to feel the mangled scars that littered his back. Punishment, even for the children, were unforgiving and whenever those scars came to mind all he could think of was the emptiness in his parents eyes as they lashed him. As if he were just an animal being trained into subservience.
Was that not what he was now? Just a trained dog coming back to his master? Now, it didn’t matter, he would give and give and give all to not see her drop a tear. A fault he had grown into, that was why she was a awful drug to him, no matter how much time he spent away from her, no matter how much pain she put him through, he was trained to serve under her and there was no breaking those chains.
His hand moved from around her, placing itself against her cold touched cheek, thumb running along what it could touch of wet stained skin as his lips connected with hers in a longing, needy kiss of affection that pleaded for this moment to not be a lie, that it truly was what she wanted, that she needed him just as much as he needed her.
It lasted only a moment her cold lips against his was blissful in his quaking heart, no doubt she could hear it. That blood flow through his system, so close to her own chest. Cardin didn’t move however, staying put and allowing her to feel what ever she needed before he broke the kiss. Words still needed to be said, he wasn’t blessed with the power to talk in others minds. Yet he needed her to know, to understand all of his feelings as if this would be the last night they would see each other again. “I’m sorry…” Another kiss, soon resting his head on her forehead, noses touching slightly, whispered words bouncing off her lips “I never wanted this for you. I never wanted to leave you.” This hurt so much more than he thought, guilt ran through his veins, he held himself back only slightly just so he could tell her the truth.
“No more lies… Please. Just the truth, from the both of us. Then I’ll stay. For as long as you need me to.” His breath was shaking, barely able to hold onto what little control he had left, wanting so badly to do as she said of ‘taking her’
cardinneverloses:
‘Don’t make that face… Please…’
Is what he thought, seeing tears fall from Trivia’s face was one thing, but when she tried to scream the words that rang in his head, it was just another form of heartbreak he couldn’t bare. What ever truth he needed, this was it, the desperation in the voice in his head was one thing, but the faces she made was evident that she was in so much pain, just like he was.
As much as he wanted to reciprocate those feelings, his eyes soon met with another. A figure he had seen before, at their last meeting together. And this time, it looked, to him, like it was angry in the way of how one would step an unwelcome foot on another’s property.
The figure glared at him, it didn’t like him, that was for sure but Cardin’s instinct was to wrap his arms around Trivia protectively, letting go of her shoulders, and glaring daggers back at this alter. It seemed Cardin’s subconscious wasn’t done with being Trivia’s care taker as his eyes didn’t leave the figure. Then the smirk, it was… Ugly. Like that of Vampires he had fought and killed before, right before the battle started, the confidence of a murderer.
And it killed him to see it on something that wore Trivia’s face.
He couldn’t lie to himself any longer. No matter how much Cardin wanted to push her away, there was always something to bring her back and once that growl came from her and the figure disappeared, there was so many questions. Why was this the second time he’s seen figure? Why did it look like Trivia but slightly different? Why was she out here in the first place? But again, the truth about old habits rang true once more as her request was the first thing he found himself addressing.
Keeping his arms around her, looking down at her tear stained cheeks, it was hard to even address any other questions he had regardless. His instinct was to make her happy, seeing her like this reminded him of that damned monstrosity of a home she was locked up in.
“I hate this. I want nothing more than to give you what you want. I want to hold you, kiss you and forget about everything and just… Continue where we left off before I left. I prey for normalcy….” Cardin sighed, trying to get the truth out in a way that made sense. But the truth hardly ever did make sense these days. “But most of all I prey for intimacy that has not ulterior motive behind it. If you could look me in the eyes and tell me, I am not just another target… I’d be more than willing to give you what you requested.”
This was far from an act. Trivia didn’t have the heart to lie in that way yet, and even if Neo could’ve done so in her place, the heart that the woman was pouring in front of Cardin was nothing more than her true feelings.
Or so she thought.
Trivia was convinced that what attached her to Cardin was more than a platonic connection, and even if Neopolitan felt the truth behind it, it seems the alcohol and the stress of the moment -or Trivia’s loneliness- was mixing up feelings that didn’t fit them well.
When the man held her close in such a protective manner, away from her true self, the vampire felt conflicted for a moment -for whatever reason-, but she reacted by wrapping both of her arms around him instead, incapable of rejecting the warm closeness that she so much desired.
It was then that she tried to ignore the pain building inside her throat; her lips trembling slightly when he parted a little to look down at her tear-stained face she was wearing. Trivia didn’t seem too worried about Neo’s presence, if only because it was wavering at the moment.
‘You are not a target, Cardin…I…I never wanted that. I didn’t want for you to just be…food.’
She thought she would’ve felt worse when thinking about the last word to refer to him. ‘Food’, she said. And yet, she felt hollow, like it didn’t really matter.
Looking down after, the woman tightened her arms around him, letting her hands move up a little so she could hug and feel his back under her palms.
‘As delightful as your blood was…I don’t want to kill you…I just…’ She wanted things to be how they used to.
…or did she?
‘Just take me and don’t…don’t leave.’
