Can Pony Get On Rocksmith?
Hey guy, I’m not dead! Just very busy. One thing I want to share with my fellow connoisseurs of brony rock is my plan to get a brony rock pack into Rocksmith. Rocksmith is a game to Guitar Hero or Rock Band, except it teaches people to play the actual guitar parts. For those interested in playing their favorite songs, there could be nothing better. Best of all, Ubisoft accepts requests, and they’ve been known to feature songs from artists more obscure than many of the musicians from our fandom, so it’s entirely possible for brony songs to make it in. We might even get a whole pack! In order to maximize chances of getting ANY brony songs featured, I recommend that everyone who is interested submits this same song list that I compiled:
1. AcoustiMandoBrony - Loyalty
2. Tarby - Nightmare Moon
3. Jeff Burgess - Leave This World Behind
4. L-Train - Lunar March
5. 4Everfreebrony - Honesty
6. PrinceWhateverer - Constellations
7. Forest Rain - Hay Ms Derpy
8. dBPony - Wonderbolt
9. P1k - Fade To Grey
10. ShinZm - Empyrean Flux
11. Survivors of the Siege - Alone (Celestia)
12. Reverbrony - The Flightless Fury
13. Cyril the Wolf - The Night Seeker
14. GatoPaint - Endless Mist Of Nightmares
15. Screams From Equestria - Lyra's Secret
16. Michael Pallante - Becoming the Alicorn
17. Metalcore Pony - Final Flight
18. HeyLasFas! - Trapped In Stone
19.  Caine the Doombringer - Welcome to Horrorville
20. Silent Night - Dear Sister Moon
21. Vaceslav - I Will See Them Fall
22. Cats Millionaire - Black Snooty
23. AcousticBrony - An Octave Beauty
24. MandoPony - Shining Armor
25. Secret Metal - Clopper (Actually, you should probably submit Hive by  Przewalski's Ponies instead. :P)
Be sure to submit them exactly as they are listed, as that’s makes it much easier for Ubisoft to recongize the demand for a given song. Also, if you’re a fan of any of the particular songs or artists, I suggest submitting 3-5 songs you like by them. This enables them to possibly get their own song pack.
In other news. While there is still numerous artists I’d like to feature, I’ve found I no longer have time to write full spot light posts. Instead, I plan on doing a megapost for brony rock musicians I know of who I have not featured yet, with a particular emphasis on those who are still active. Remember you can submit things, and if any one else wants to be an admin for this blog I’m interested.

Hey guys I'm setting up a Bandcamp account for future music! Everything will be listed as pay-what-you-want. Minimum is free of course, but if you want to help my broke ass out by donating a couple bucks that's also cool. Only thing available for download right now is Welcome to Horrorville, I'm still in the process of re-exporting all the WAV files for older music and actually making a banner and some asthetics that have genuine effort attributed to them, but for now you can check it out, follow the page for new music updates and all that fun jazz. Pretty cool right? In the next little while I will be pulling all other download links for my songs out and linking everyone to bandcamp for easy access. Soundcloud's 100 DL limit is not really much to work with and this way it'll be easier for people to access (once I get the pro account stuff set up anyway. Right now there's still a DL limit but at the very least it's more than Soundcloud) Why Caine?! Why are you putting price tags on your music? WHY HAVE YOU FORSAKEN US FOR THE DARK SIDE?! WHY ARE YOU TRYING TO MONETIZE THE FANDOM LIKE A GREEDY SELLOUT??? Well..I'm..not really putting a price tag on there. The tracks are free to download if you don't feel like paying money for it and if that's the case that's honestly totally cool. But realistically I'm working for just above minimum wage and that's not a lot to be living off of. Furthermore making music is time consuming. I love doing it, but I'm averaging 20-30 hours of work PER track, sometimes more, and that's just the music I've finished so far. It really does take up a HUGE chunk of my spare time, which currently I don't really get anything back for. Am I forcing you to pay for anything? No. Am I gonna give you the stink eye because you got it for free? Hell no. I'm just leaving the option to donate open cause it would be nice to be able to afford things like additional equipment, software and the like. The majority of these earnings I want to be able to give right back to my music and try to make everything as big and awesome as possible.  Also if this is successful it leaves the door open for physical copies of music, if and when I finally get a full album out one day. WHAT DOES THIS MAN FOR THE FUTURE OF CAINE'S MYOOSAK? Immediately? Not much. At this point all music I have planned will be uploaded with a free DL option, and I'm not planning on changing that any time soon. I am planning on trying to allocate as much time as possible towards making music, so you'll probably see stuff uploaded more frequently, but that's about it as far as any immediate changes go. Not a bad change honestly. EUUUGH WHAT THE HELL IS UP WITH THAT BANNER, IT LOOKS LIKE A 12 YEAR OLD THREW UP ON PHOTOSHOP Screw you it's 3AM I just wanted to put something there so the page didn't look so empty. When I have time I'll make something more presentable. I'm just tired and lazy don't judge me. ------------------- That's basically it right there. That's all you guys need to know, and I will be back with some brand new music very soon! Stay classy, you meme loving fucks.

Brony Rock Spotlight #22 - Caine the Doombringer
Caine Music
Tumblr media
Caine the Doombringer, real name Stewart Nurmi, is a pony rocker from Vancouver, Canada known for his powerful, expressive modern rock voice. He is notable for being one of the few vocalists featured on a Griffinilla song, which is vastly different from his own songs. His work is predominantly hard rock, but his early work was mainly acoustic rock, primarily because his guitar was in the shop. I had a bit more content, but he purged his channel (namely removing the aforementioned acoustic rock) while I was planning this out. He's planning on redoing his old songs, but in the meantime you can find them on his soundcloud.
#1 The Places I've Never Been
This is the first song I've ever heard from Caine, and boy did it impress me. Musically it's pretty generic post-grunge, but it's really solid generic post-grunge. The song starts with some pounding acoustic riffs as an intro before mellowing a bit for the verse, but distorted electric guitars kick in underneath the acoustic guitars halfway through the verse, and it builds in intensity for chorus and with each subsequent verse in typical grunge/hard rock fashion. What really sells the song is it's lyrical content, being an ode to fiction rather than directly about my little pony, and their emotional delivery. He is practically howling during the second verse, which morphs into cooing after a cathartic guitar solo. This leads into the final verse, a softer acoustic section that has just as much of an impact as  the rest.
#2 Carnival Cat vs. Ponyville
Already a rather dark showtunes song by Sand Josieph about his villainous OC, Caine takes the darkness to a whole new level with this heavy metal cover. It opens with an extremely creepy scratching noise and a music box melody that for some reason wasn't in the oringinal. This goes on for awhile while a creepy background noise grows louder, building up atmosphere. A lead guitar kicks in, and after an electric guitar intro the main song finally begins. Here Caine sings in much different style than the previous song, his voice is slightly distorted and airy with with a sinister tone, over extremely an aggressive riff. Other course of the song many other heavy riffs are also used, giving it a bit of a chaotic feel, he song is interspaced with a few instrumental interludes, giving it a progressive texture. The first of which includes the music box, leading into an atmospheric section featuring vocals samples from the original song in the background. In the middle of the song is a dissonant guitar solo, reminding me of those in early extreme metal. Near the end of the song is another softer section, followed by a tamer guitar solo. The song ends with the music fading out to just the music box after Caine makes a very haunting laugh, leaving the listener on a very offsetting note.
#3 Sick of Partying
In contrast to the previous song, "Sick of Partying" has a more upbeat 80's metal sound, but it still has darker undertones. This reflects it's lyrical content, being about about Pinkie's excessive partying and it's damaging effects ala Party.Mov (NSFW video). The song opens with first a rapid-fire drum beat similar to Judas Priest's "Painkiller" and then a melodic instrumental section because moving into the high speed riffs that dominate the song. The energetic verses are followed by an even more intense chorus with a soaring melody in both the vocals and guitarwork. Excellent lead guitar is prominent throughout the song. Naturally, the song has not one, but three epic guitar solos, aside from the intro there is the usual one acting as the second half of the bridge, and one for the outro. Simply put, the song kicks ass.
#4 I Just Don't Know
One the more mellow side, Caine has this atmospheric blues song about Derpy. A key aspect of this song is the guitar tone. The dominating lead guitar is distorted, but soft, giving the aforementioned atmospheric sound. The blues lines are quite rare in an atmospheric song, giving it a rather unique reverb laden sound. Meanwhile, the subdued rhythm guitar also has a unique tone, and can be heard easily during the intro. Modulated samples of Derpy at a few moments, like the intro, also contribute the atmosphere. Of course, to make any blues song complete, it needs depressing lyrics and heart wrenching vocals, and this song delivers. In his voice you can hear Derpy's self loathing and despair, as well as just a hint of defiance towards her critics. In the verses there is a hint a bluesy howl, and in the chorus, a melancholic coo at the end of of several lines in the chorus, and before the bridge he lets out a course yet emphatic scream. If the sad nature of the song turns you away, I'll just let you know that the main riff is catchy as hell, and the solo at the end is pretty great as well.
#5 Beauty of a Setting Sun
In what may be his magnum opus, "Beauty of a Setting Sun", Caine shows off both his atmospheric and epic rocking sides in an extremely emotive alternative rock song about Twilight carrying on after Celestia dies. Like most songs, it starts off with an extended intro, this time based around a rhythm guitar with a tone I can only describe as fluttery. There also appears to be strings at points. Unlike "I Just Don't Know", the verses are also based around the soft rhythm guitar, though it's a bit more distorted than in the intro, and the chorus is based around a metallic lead guitar. The song gradually builds in intensity as it goes along, with the lead guitar entering again halfway through the second verse and staying until the end of a impressive guitar solo. Afterwards there is a bridge which is a bit softer, but it's even more dramatic, with the string back proving strong atmosphere, and it also builds up until Caine practically screams the last line, leading into the second guitar solo and another soft section before the final chorus. By the end of the song Caine is literally shouting the lines, with the final line of "I just want to make you proud!" delivered in a harsh rock scream. After the noodling dies down the song ends like it began, with the same fluttering guitar sounds which slowly fades, closing this bittersweet and beautiful song. I freaking love this song.

In which I have no idea how to electronic music but I pretend that I do by using slightly tweaked GMS presets and chiptune VSTs run through guitar distortion. I dunno I'm mostly just screwing around here. I doubt I'll do anything with this, or even really explore this style at all, it's just some basic practice with GMS synths and stereo spacing but I figured I'd share it anyway cause I thought it sounded kinda cool I guess?

Just a little sketch I was mucking around with earlier. Not sure if I'll do anything with it yet. We'll see.

Wanted to have this one done last Saturday but this track is proving to be a tad more labor-intensive than I had thought it was going to be from the start. Couple that with holiday festivities and this one's not looking like it'll be out until early january, most likely. HOWEVER since it is the holiday season, I thought I'd release the demo rhythm track for people to listen to while I whip up the rest of the song. Jumping right out of my comfort zone with this song, and trying out some new things I've never really done before. Not too happy with the drums here though. Kind of sort of horrendously undermixed. I'll fix it for the final version. Enjoy for now!

So I heard some people talking about a VST pack called dBlue. And, just like pretty much every other time I download a VST filter I ran my guitar through it. Oh lawdy I love this so much. Wanted to do a thing for the Villain of the Power Ponies episode, because I mean look at her she's god damn adorable. I think this will do nicely. The mix is horrendous but I'll work on that later. T̶O̶ ̶T̶H̶E̶ ̶S̶C̶R̶A̶P̶ ̶P̶I̶L̶E̶- I mean BACK TO FL STUDIO TO WORK ON THIS!

Just a little doodle that I did this evening. I still need to fix the synth so it blends in better, but I'll worry about that later. Started with kind of an electro-swing inspired intro and then swung into kind of like a blues-rock type thing after that. Sour Apples is a working title, don't think it'll stick. The song seemed kind of Babs Seed-ish so I might do something around her? Not sure yet. Enjoy for now!

BLEH A THING I wasn't going to finish this after I made that WIP a while back but then I went back and listened to it this afternoon and I'm like "YOU KNOW WHAT? I'M DOIN IT" And also I wanted to do something fast and heavy-metal like and junk so I'M DOIN IT. I KNOW I USUALLY JUST DO ACOUSTIC. I DON'T CARE. FUCK THE RULES. So here's an update of my progress on this thing which will hopefully be done by Halloween if I can get the time to work on it. Not sure if I'm actually going to sing it or just do a lead guitar melody of the vocal tracks. I have a couple ideas running around, we'll see what works and what doesn't.

So I bought a wah pedal today. I'm really excited about what this is going to do for my solo tracks. It's been years since I've owned one, and I'm really having too much fun with it oh lawdy.

SO I WAS WORKING ON ONE SONG AND THEN I COMPOSED THIS LITTLE PIANO THINGY ON FL AND THEN I ADDED SOME DRUMS AND THEN I ADDED SOME GUITARS BECAUSE GUITARS ARE COOL AND THEN I THOUGHT "Hey you know what would be fun? Messing around with binaural panning filters" SO I DID THAT AND THEN THIS HAPPENED OH HEY IT'S ALMOST 3AM I think this is decent enough to call a song. Calling it Celestia's Lament because the song I was originally working on before this was about Sunbutt and Moonbutt and stuff. Expect that one soon-ish. For now have this. I don't know if the binaural filters added much of an effect, but I thought they sounded cool so YAKNOW. I'm going to sleep now. I have to be up for work in 6 hours. KBYE PS: Wear Headphones for the binaural bit. It's my first time actually fucking around with a binaural filter so sorry if it sucks. :I
