Bautista seals historic Race 2 win, sets new all-time record of season wins

In a dramatic WorldSBK Race 2 at Most, Alvaro Bautista (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) emerged as the star of the day, securing a historic 18th win of the season and setting a new all-time record of season wins. The race took a thrilling turn as Bautista's title rival, Toprak Razgatlioglu (Pata Yamaha Prometeon WorldSBK), crashed out from the lead, handing Bautista a 25-point swing in the Championship standings. Meanwhile, Danilo Petrucci (Barni Spark Racing Team) and Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK) engaged in a fierce battle for the remaining podium positions, with Petrucci ultimately edging out Rea by a mere 0.073 seconds to secure second place. Axel Bassani (Motocorsa Racing) displayed remarkable resilience, recovering from an early setback when he ran through the gravel at the chicane. Despite losing time, Bassani fought back and finished just 0.061 seconds off the podium in fourth place. Michael Ruben Rinaldi (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) secured fifth place after a closely contested battle in the closing stages. Remy Gardner (GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team) impressed with a solid sixth-place finish, marking his strongest weekend in the WorldSBK Championship so far.

P1 | Alvaro Bautista | Aruba.it Racing – Ducati "I didn’t expect to win this weekend, especially after a really tough Friday and Saturday. I always believed in myself, tried to be calm and do my best. The Superpole Race was the key. I knew it was important to have a good race and improve the position from P14 on the grid for Race 2. I was fifth or sixth on Lap 1, I think it was one of the best starts of my life. When I was fourth, I was lapping similarly to the three guys in front of me and I thought P4 was nice for Race 2. After mid-race, I saw Bassani dropping a little bit. When it was two laps to go, I tried to close the gap and did my best lap on the penultimate lap. I was very close in the last two corners, and I knew I was a bit stronger than him there.
Tumblr media
Third position was nice for Race 2. I had a good battle with Toprak. He always tried to put the bike on the inside at Turn 1. Even if we missed the corner, he was in front. One time, I tried to stay on the inside, but I didn’t want to miss the first corner to avoid him passing me exiting between Turns 1 and 2. He came from the outside and the same. He missed the corner, but he was in front! It was fun. In races, anything can happen until the chequered flag. It’s the good and bad thing about racing. I’m really happy.” For more info checkout our dedicated World Superbike News page World Superbike News Or visit the official World Superbike website WorldSBK.com Read the full article

Mackenzie masterclass: Honda's triumph in unpredictable Race 2
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In a thrilling and unpredictable WorldSSP Race 2 at Autodrom Most, Tarran Mackenzie (PETRONAS MIE Racing Honda Team) emerged as the unexpected hero. As rain showers swept the circuit, the race became a battle of strategy and nerves. Mackenzie's decision not to pit for wet tires when the rain began proved to be a game-changer. Starting from 22nd on the grid, he showcased his skill on slicks, gaining significant time on his rivals and securing his first-ever WorldSSP victory, as Honda celebrated their first WorldSSP victory since 2016. Marcel Schroetter (MV Agusta Reparto Corse also on slicks, finished in second place, while his teammate Bahattin Sofuoglu demonstrated resilience, recovering from a mid-race crash and a Long Lap Penalty to take the final spot on the podium.
Tumblr media
John McPhee's (Vince64 by Puccetti Racing) bold tire strategy paid off as well, earning him a strong fourth-place finish, while Adam Norrodin (PETRONAS MIE Racing Honda Team) showcased Honda's potential with an impressive fifth position. Making a remarkable return to the Championship as a wildcard rider, Thomas Gradinger (Eder Racing) secured a top-six finish. Nicolo Bulega (Aruba.it Racing WorldSSP Team)'s 16th place finish and Stefano Manzi (Ten Kate Racing Yamaha)'s unfortunate retirement marked a challenging race for both title contenders.

P1 | Tarran Mackenzie | PETRONAS MIE Racing Honda Team "It's such a special day for me and also for all of the team and everybody involved. I have to thank Midori and the whole of the Petronas team. It's been a very difficult season, not just for me, but for the whole team. We expected the package to be maybe a little bit stronger than it is, but every weekend we're improving. This weekend, we actually made a small step which allowed us to fight a little bit more. Obviously starting P21 or 22, I did not expect to be near the front and when I saw the rain, I thought this was my chance to maybe get some points, not nearly a win, just some points. When I got into the lead, I just had to focus and count the laps and to win. The decision to not pit wasn't difficult because my mechanic told me, "just please don't come and just keep riding around very much like the WorldSSP300 race yesterday." So, I had this on my mind the whole time and I just kept going and pretended like there was no rain. And the gap went to maybe 8 seconds at one point, and it was just hard to believe. I didn't know what was going on. It was crazy, and to win was amazing!" Rea triumphs with inspired ride in wet and wild WorldSBK Race 1 at Most
Tumblr media Tumblr media
WorldSBK Race 1 at Most started in wet conditions, prompting riders to either opt for rain or intermediate tyres. Axel Bassani (Motocorsa Racing) initially led the pack but lost ground to Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK), who chose intermediate tires. Bassani pitted later as track conditions improved, switching from rain tyres to slicks, but couldn't regain the lost time, finishing seventh. The battle for the win intensified between Rea and Toprak Razgatlioglu (Pata Yamaha Prometeon WorldSBK), with Rea's consistent pace securing him his first victory since 2022, despite his rival's efforts to close the gap after a cautious start. The Turkish rider finished in second place, continuing his impressive streak of 19 consecutive podiums and closing the gap on Alvaro Bautista (Aruba.it Racing WorldSSP Team) to 54 points.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, Danilo Petrucci (Barni Spark Racing Team), who also chose to start on intermediates and not stop for slicks, secured his second career podium with third place. Scott Redding (ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team) also didn't stop and finished fourth, while Iker Lecuona (Team HRC) took fifth place. Andrea Locatelli (Pata Yamaha Prometeon WorldSBK) rounded out the top six. Championship leader Alvaro Bautista, however, missed the opportunity to establish a new absolute record of season wins (18) as he finished in 12th place. He started from 14th on the grid due to a penalty in the Tissot Superpole and started on the wet tyres, before pitting for slicks where he had an issue with the pit stop.

P1 | Jonathan Rea | Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK “I knew that today, sat on the grid in these conditions, it would be a good opportunity to push for a race win. I got a good start and was with the guys on wet tyres at the beginning. I knew the intermediates were the right choice. Even in the garage, I watched the WorldSSP300 race and the guys in front stayed out there on wets and OK, the lap times weren’t great but I could see that even with slick tyres were much more performance in the ‘mizzling’ conditions. So, from that point of view, I was convinced that to get anything out of today, then the right choice was intermediates to generate heat in the tyre. On the sighting lap, I used wet knee sliders and got my knee down a couple of times and felt OK. I convinced myself to put heat in the tyres because the worst thing you can do is not put temperature in the tyre. It worked from Lap 2. The gap in the middle of the race was quite big to Toprak and the others. The bike started moving a lot as the setup was quite soft, so I could benefit early on and then manage the race. What can I say? It’s such a nice present for my team, my crew… all their hard work! We look forward to tomorrow now and try to get back on the podium then too.” For more info checkout our dedicated World Superbike News page World Superbike News Or visit the official World Superbike website WorldSBK.com Read the full article

Bulega seals victory in Race 1, strengthening Championship lead
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Nicolo Bulega (Aruba.it Racing WorldSSP Team) emerged as the dominant force on Saturday in Most, securing a convincing victory and extending his Championship lead. Stefano Manzi (Ten Kate Racing Yamaha) fought hard but had to settle for second place, while Bahattin Sofuoglu (MV Agusta Reparto Corse) showcased his potential with a strong third-place finish. The race was red-flagged on the opening lap due to a crash, but a 12-lap restart didn't dampen Bulega's spirit, as he quickly took control of the race. Despite intense battles for positions, the Championship leader proved untouchable, taking his 9th career win.

Behind the podium finishers, Raffaele De Rosa (Orelac Racing VerdNatura) secured fourth place, while Adrian Huertas (MTM Kawasaki) finished fifth after serving a Long Lap Penalty. Marcel Schroetter (MV Agusta Reparto Corse) was sixth, just two seconds away from the top five. Nicolo Bulega dominated the race with a convincing victory, finishing 1.856 seconds ahead of his closest rival and extending his Championship lead to 46 points over Manzi.

I think this morning was the first time we had more grip on the asphalt, and I noticed that the track was a bit dirtier during the race, so I had to pay attention. Razgatlioglu makes the most of WorldSBK Free Practice
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Friday's practice sessions for the Acerbis Czech Round saw Toprak Razgatlioglu (Pata Yamaha Prometeon WorldSBK) shine at the top of the combined classification, showcasing his pace on a track where he has been successful before. The day was marked by intense competition with 15 riders covered by less than a second, making for tight battles on the circuit. The variable weather conditions, with a wet FP1 and a fully dry FP2, added an extra challenge for the riders, but they adapted swiftly to set competitive lap times.
Tumblr media
The Turkish rider showcased his pace and momentum at the Autodrom Most, with his closest competitor being Remy Gardner (GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team) in second place, just 0.012 seconds adrift. Danilo Petrucci (Barni Spark Racing Team) also impressed, securing the third spot, while Michael Ruben Rinaldi (Aruba.it Racing - Ducati) and Axel Bassani (Motocorsa Racing) completed the top five. Championship leader Alvaro Bautista (Aruba.it Racing - Ducati) faced challenges, finishing in sixth place, leaving him with work to do to close the gap on his title rival, Razgatlioglu.

P1 | Toprak Razgatlioglu | Pata Yamaha Prometeon WorldSBK “First, I want to say that I’m very happy to come back to Most again as I like this track! The wet conditions weren’t so bad, I felt good with the bike and also confident. After, it was dry and I did one lap, but Scott did a very good job. In FP2, we were still working for a good setup on the bike as everyone uses the hard tyre, especially here. It doesn’t look bad, but we’re still working. In the wet, the feeling is better as I remember in FP3 two years ago, I felt good grip here immediately and today, I went fast straight away. After four years, I’m starting to feel confident! Both conditions are OK, no problem. The problem was in Turn 18 and Turn 19, as I was feeling the bike spinning a lot and the acceleration isn’t good. We’re still working to try and find a good setup. In the first two sectors, the corners are slower and I am strong, but in three and four… three isn’t bad but sector four, I’m very bad. We need to improve there because of the spinning and the acceleration, as the lap time isn’t coming. We’ll see tomorrow and I hope that we improve in the last sector. We did a good job through the rest of the lap, but the pace is going to be very important this weekend. My pace doesn’t look bad but if we improve in the final sector, it can be better than the others. I’m confident, feeling good but if we improve a little bit more, then we can feel much better but in general, right now, I’m happy for the first day.” For more info checkout our dedicated World Superbike News page World Superbike News Or visit the official World Superbike website WorldSBK.com Read the full article
