Demon Slayer Swap AU Ideas

So I've been thinking a lot about a swap AU for Demon Slayer and I just want to write out my thoughts on here. I enjoy looking at other versions of this au and I just had my own thoughts/takes on it.

Disclaimer: Any similarities to other swap AUs story wise and visually(especially for the humans turned demon) are coincidental. I've only looked at fanart of the kizuki but as demon slayers and like one picture of a demon Shinobu and didn't go much further than that with other people's AUs cuz I wanted to come up with my own shit. I feel the need to say this cuz people on the internet like to harass people over artists and writers having similar ideas.

Also a lot of these aren't necessarily a direct swap. I'm writing these things down for myself mostly to lay shit out. If you disagree that's fine, if you're curious where this is going.. slay. stick around.

Reasoning? They're relatively direct parallels I was also debating swapping these two with Sanemi and Genya but decided against it. Might do a version later on with them idk

Oh goodness where do I begin!!! LONG POST AHEAD!!!! Ok soooo I have some posts tagged as #mad t fandom lore thanks to @spikrock and @hattersgirlalice for giving me the inspiration to start this whole rabbit hole of nostalgia lol which showcases the basic general info of the mtp band performer's nicknames and noteworthy moments in the fandom (mostly gifs of the band that altered the fandom in some way, and fanart from the captains)

U can watch all the videos of the band performing on YouTube (There's numerous sources but I personally like to watch Nick Turchens playlist another place to find vids of T are just random clips here on Tumblr)

The OG Captains from what I can personally remember were @briannacherrygarcia she was THE ARTIST! she made the majority of the fanart headcanons for the fandom along with Storywhisper who wrote fanfics! (unfortunately they're deactivated and it still makes me sad I wanted to reread all their fics to freshen up on the lore but alas they are lost in the void somewhere as far as I know if anybody has links saved uhhhh help a girl out 👀)

There's many other talented fanfic authors and fan-artists!!! Gifs and Photography were a HUGE part of the fandom! People would make reaction gifs out of any and everything! Alot of shippy moments that were captured by these talented peeps made us all go feral EVERY SINGLE. TIME. BCUZ THEY WERE OUR ONLY REFERENCE FOR CANON CHARACTERIZATION STUFF.

But, Fireheart winked and said, 'no problem, lovely.' So after talking later with Graystripe, they start dating. Then after a few moons, Longtail goes on a patrol near Kitty-pet place and runs into Smudge and he knew he was losing his hate of kitty pets because of Fireheart since his mind just went, 'holy fuck hes cute' so they chat for like 5 minutes and Longtail leaves. He then tells Fireheart about him like, 'I met this cute kitty pet on patrol, he had black and white hair and a green collar. Never caught a name though' and Fireheart almost spit out his water cuz that's his old crush and neighbor Smudge so boom Longtail is now in a relationship with 4 loving bois!

Characters are different from IRL

Hey so I copied down what I wrote on the amino cuz why not

ok so imma make a rant because im just pissed off at this issues surrounding the fandom.

Ok, so the characters are different from the IRL people. I believe Tom and everyone else made that clear when people kept using their IRL last names for the characters.

I have changed their last names when I write oneshots and draw things to abide to what Tom said. I get alot of fans yelling at me because I changed their last names, and even get people correcting me in my own stories because I used a different name.

The main one I'm having atm, is the fact that people are hating on people who draw HELLUCARD. Ah, yes, everyone knows of Hellucard.

The dude who shows up in WTFuture and says "Ey, Edd." He shows up as a cameo in Space Face, Fun Dead, Hammer and Fail, Ellsworld (the name escapes me), and a few comics. (tthere are probably more cameos, i just don't remember them)

He's a minor character who rarely speaks other than to say "Ey Edd." And some people latch onto minor characters (such as myself) and like to draw fanart of him.

And yes, we are aware (or some people are) of what his IRL person did. I have spoken to him, and he wasn't a good person. I didn't even know it was him until that post on tumblr was spreading around, and then I realized it. I have made a post about Hellucard on here before, telling of my experience about it. I even made a post on my DA about the shit he said to me.

But anyway before I get off topic about my experience with IRL Hellucard, I want to say that the CARTOON CHARACTER is completely different from the IRL person. They are NOT the same. Do not lump them together.

Look at Tord, TORD ISN'T ANYWHERE NEAR WHAT HIS IRL PERSON IS. Also Tom, hell everyone.

If people want to draw Hellucard (character), then allow them. There is no harm in doing so. Hell, Hellucard is a fave character of mine and I draw him alot. My AUs have Hellucard in it. You cannot make me change my love for this character.

This might be flagged, but due to a recent issue, I wanted to get my thoughts across.

I understand some people might have bad experiences with seeing the character, but you're not alone. But I don't lump the character with the IRL person.

so around the time-ish when i was getting into skateboarding more i drew a girl that was a "witch" that rode a broom like a longboard/surfboard and yeah and she has a brother that can shapeshift into a cat

so in the shower i came up with some more stuff

for now i'll refer to everyone with placeholder names that may change later

Ana (protagonist: Freshman year of high school. That's...pretty much it. They're pretty foul-mouthed and tough. Likes cruising around. Really likes bomber jackets and cool hats.)

Bryan (older brother: out of college, works at family job. can shapeshift into a cat. he likes his cat form much more since he can go almost anywhere like that. not really into longboarding and prefers riding bikes or driving his car)

Colton (Father: Owns a barbershop. His family get a family discount; 65% off normal price. Other people may get 50% sometimes or on certain days like...Six Dollar Saturdays or somethin. does not apply to custom cuts. Tries to avoid his past. Don't talk about it.)

Diana (Mother: Lived a life of secrecy. Things were fine up until Ana was born, where she then left for some reason. i havent fully worked this out tbh. but anyways she was a bank teller and also had powers??? like psychic powers kinda)

i call it "Bitch" for now because in middle school my PE teacher (ripperoni), when someone wanted to play an explicit song, would say stuff like "witches with a B" instead of "Bitch" and thats the title for now. (but i'll refer to it as "Bitches" in the tags tho)

i didnt come up with much after that except for like... a not so tragic backstory. the mom left for unknown reasons (idk yet tbh) but it wasnt because of something bad like "oh i need to keep the child a secret" cuz come on Ana's brother can fuckin shapeshift what makes her so special? she can levitate. my oh my we gotta put her down Ana's a ufo

the barbershop was originally gonna be a psychic place (fortune tellers and all. There's a lot in my city actually. its kinda nice to see small stores imo, but ive never been to them tho) and the dad could put people to sleep, allowing them to go to some spirit world for a brief moment. kinda like Black Panther? except instead of wisdom the people can be reunited with loved ones and stuff.

alright think of it like this. theres plenty of other people doing this in the nation/world. so then two people do it (doesnt matter if its at the same time or not), for example a long distance couple, and they are able to see each other "physically". this also applies to the deceased, except of course the process doesn't apply to them. they exist more as a ball of light (unlike physical spirits on Earth) and float around the spirit world/realm, which is basically Earth but in darker colors kinda. like as if the earth were in a constant eclipse and the sky was dark purple.

while that idea of the father doing that may not happen, the spirit realm thing is a definite real thing in something i call the Doodleverse (i am shit at coming up with names lol) and just yeah. basically limbo. purgatory. then spirits can come to earth if summoned by an angel or devil
