These are specialized solutions for network infrastructure In just a few weeks, Intel will release Meteor Lake processors, which, among other things, will be the company’s first-born, produced using the Intel 4 technical process. However, another company beat Intel itself and was the first to present its chips created using the same technical process. They were Ericsson RAN Compute. [caption id="attachment_84939" align="aligncenter" width="780"] Intel 4 process[/caption] Ericsson announced new RAN Compute These, of course, are not classic CPUs, but specialized solutions for network infrastructure, but the very fact that Ericsson has surpassed Intel is quite interesting. However, for Intel’s IDM 2.0 strategy, within which the processor giant also wants to become a semiconductor manufacturing giant, this is rather a plus. It doesn’t make much sense to say anything about RAN Compute chips from a technical point of view, but it’s still worth noting that, according to the company itself, the high-performance RAN Processor 6672 and Radio Processor 6372 processors provide four times greater performance compared to the previous generation and can support up to six 4G and 5G modes in one device. In addition, the new chips consume 30–60% less energy, which is likely due in large part to the new technical process.

This is the Emerald Rapids generation The first leak has appeared on the Internet regarding the new Emerald Rapids generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors, which will be presented on December 14 along with Meteor Lake . [caption id="attachment_79561" align="aligncenter" width="780"] Intel processor[/caption] The flagship Xeon Platinum 8592+ has been revealed, which will offer 64 cores, which does not yet look particularly impressive compared to AMD’s 96-core monsters. And relative to Sapphire Rapids, this is an increase of only 4 cores. All cores, by the way, will be large. Technically, these are Raptor Cove cores, like the current Raptor Lake. The new CPU will receive 320 MB of third-level cache. The total with the L2 cache is already 448 MB. This will be one of the main improvements over the current generation Xeon Scalable. [caption id="attachment_79562" align="aligncenter" width="760"] Intel processor[/caption] The peak power of this Intel processor can reach 922W. 64-core Xeon Platinum 8592+ appeared on the Internet The test sample had frequencies of 1.9-3.9 GHz, and all cores can simultaneously operate at 2.5 GHz. The production CPU is expected to operate at frequencies of 2.0-4.0 GHz. The power limits PL1 and PL2 are 350 and 420 W, respectively. The peak reaches 764 W, but the CPU can be configured so that the value reaches 922 W. [caption id="attachment_79563" align="aligncenter" width="483"] Intel processor[/caption] The test copy in the CPU-Z benchmark scored 610 and 25,741 points in single-threaded and multi-threaded modes, respectively, but the result is not very good, which is apparently due to the unavailability of the software.

M3 and M3 Max transistor budget increased The new Apple M3 single-chip systems have switched to the 3 nm process technology, but not all have become better than the previous generation, judging solely by the characteristics. The same M3 Pro not only has fewer cores and lower memory bandwidth, it simply contains fewer transistors. [caption id="attachment_77946" align="aligncenter" width="780"] Apple M3 Pro SoC[/caption] The Apple M3 Pro SoC not only has fewer cores than the M2 Pro but also contains fewer transistors According to the latest data, the M3, M3 Pro, and M3 Max contain 25, 37, and 92 billion transistors respectively. For comparison, M2, M2 Pro, and M2 Max respectively have 20, 40, and 67 billion. That is, we see that in the case of M2 Pro the transistor budget was cut, apparently due to the removal of one graphics core, changes in the configuration of the CPU cores, and changes in the power subsystem. However in the M3 Max, the number of transistors has increased significantly relative to the M2 Max, but the new SoC has many more cores. As for the M3 Max, its 92 billion transistors are, of course, less than the M2 Ultra's incredible 134 billion, but it's still a huge number. For comparison, even the 96-core AMD Epyc Genoa contains 90 billion.

These are Lenovo models based on Core Ultra 5 125H and Core Ultra 7 155H While Intel is only going to introduce Meteor Lake processors in mid-December, some stores have already begun adding laptops with such CPUs to their assortment. For now, of course, virtually.  [caption id="attachment_77792" align="aligncenter" width="780"] Intel Core Ultra[/caption] For example, one of the stores in Bulgaria listed two Lenovo Yoga Pro 7 models with a CPU Core Ultra 5 125H and a Core Ultra 7 155H. They are asking for almost 1400 and 1600 dollars respectively.  The first laptops with Intel Core Ultra appeared in the online store at prices starting from $1,400 [caption id="attachment_77793" align="aligncenter" width="518"] Intel Core Ultra[/caption] The laptops themselves seem to be equipped quite well. The presence of 32 GB of RAM, a 1 TB SSD, and a 14-inch 3K screen with a frequency of 120 Hz is indicated. But at the same time, we do not yet fully understand the performance of the new Intel CPUs and their energy efficiency, so it is impossible to evaluate the indicated prices relative to other models on the market.

No details yet Desktop processors Ryzen 7000G and mobile APUs of the new generation Ryzen 8000U appeared on the Internet for the first time.  [caption id="attachment_77767" align="aligncenter" width="780"] Ryzen 8000U[/caption] If we talk about the first, then three models have appeared so far: Ryzen 5 Pro 7500G, Ryzen 5 7500G, and Ryzen 3 7300G. The first two should be identical and will probably have six cores each, and the last one will most likely be an analog of the mobile Ryzen 3 7320U, that is, it will carry four cores and, thus, will become the cheapest desktop Ryzen 7000. However, The document indicates the presence of four cores for Ryzen 5, but this may be an error. Desktop Ryzen 7000G and the new generation Ryzen 8000U appeared on the Internet for the first time [caption id="attachment_77768" align="aligncenter" width="780"] Ryzen 8000U[/caption] As for the new generation, four models have appeared: Ryzen 7 8840U, Ryzen 5 8540U, Ryzen 5 PRO 8540U and Ryzen 3 8440U. As you can see, the names are quite familiar to the current generation. That is we are talking about an eight-core APU, two six-core, and one quad-core.

Threadripper Pro 3995WX is twice as far behind Test results for the Threadripper Pro 7985WX processor have appeared on the Internet. We have already seen the test results of the 96-core model, but now we are talking about the 64-core model, which means that we can directly compare the new product with its predecessors with the same number of cores. [caption id="attachment_75551" align="aligncenter" width="600"] AMD[/caption] Bravo, AMD. Threadripper Pro 7985WX is 36% faster than Threadripper Pro 5995WX So far there are tests only in Geekbench, but the results there are impressive. [caption id="attachment_75552" align="aligncenter" width="780"] AMD[/caption] Threadripper Pro 7985WX outperforms Threadripper Pro 5995WX in multi-threaded mode by 36%! Let us remember that the CPU has the same number of cores, so the increase is due solely to architectural changes and increased frequency. Compared to the Threadripper Pro 3995WX, the new product is 64% faster with the same number of cores. In single-threaded mode, the increase is approximately the same, but this is not so important.

It has 80 Arm cores While Chinese video cards are very far from modern solutions from AMD, Nvidia, and Intel, Chinese processors are developing at a very impressive pace. Phytium has shown off its new processor, which is capable of competing with AMD CPUs based on the Zen 3 architecture. [caption id="attachment_71250" align="aligncenter" width="780"] AMD Epyc on Zen 3[/caption] Chinese Arm processor capable of competing with 24-core AMD Epyc on Zen 3. More precisely, the company compares its FTC870 with the server AMD Epyc 7443. Let us recall that the latter has 24 cores, a TDP of 200 W, and operates at frequencies up to 4 GHz. The FTC870, in turn, is based on the Arm architecture and operates at a frequency of only 3 GHz. The new product has 80 cores and 64 MB of third-level cache. There is also an eight-channel DDR5-4800 controller and 64 PCIe 5.0 lanes. [caption id="attachment_71251" align="aligncenter" width="780"] AMD Epyc on Zen 3[/caption] Interestingly, the company planned to release such a CPU back in 2021, but due to US sanctions the process has slowed down, so such CPUs will only be released now.

The division into Pro and regular models will return The Videocardz resource has published the first images of AMD Ryzen Threadripper 7000 processors. It's finally confirmed that AMD is going back to two lines for its monster CPUs. We are waiting for Threadripper Pro 7000 processors for workstations and regular Threadripper 7000 processors for enthusiasts. The latter should just be sold at retail. In addition, the latter will receive packaging with orange accents, while the former will have silver accents. [caption id="attachment_71237" align="aligncenter" width="780"] Ryzen Threadripper 7000 processors[/caption] The new processors will use the sTR5 socket and include from 8 to 12 chipsets, like the Epyc Genoa server ones. Technically these are very similar processors. The first images of Ryzen Threadripper 7000 processors have been published It is known that motherboards for the new CPUs will support DDR5 memory and PCIe 5.0 cards. Probably, the difference in the number of channels in the RAM controller will also return. Let us remind you that the top models of the new line will be 96-core CPUs, which will allow for a giant leap in performance compared to the already very powerful Ryzen Threadripper 5000. The announcement of new processors will take place tomorrow.

There are few details yet It looks like the new generation of smartwatches with Wear OS will become much more autonomous. Qualcomm announced that it is jointly developing the Snapdragon Wear platform based on the RISC-V architecture with Google. [caption id="attachment_71231" align="aligncenter" width="600"] RISC-V[/caption] Qualcomm is moving from Arm to RISC-V. The press release says that the new platform will be aimed generally at devices in the wearable electronics segment with Wear OS, but for now, this is only smartwatches. Perhaps with the release of such a platform the range of devices will expand. Qualcomm says the development will help pave the way for more products in the ecosystem that can take advantage of dedicated processors with low power consumption and high performance. It is not yet clear when the first such SoC will appear, but Qualcomm promises to talk about it later.

And not only in Counter Strike 2 AMD had to disable its latest Anti-Lag+ feature in all games. The latest Radeon Software Adrenalin 23.10.2 driver comes out just a week after the previous one, where Anti-Lag+ received support for Counter-Strike 2.  [caption id="attachment_70272" align="aligncenter" width="780"] AMD[/caption] Let us remind you that it turned out that Valve Anti-Cheat security software automatically blocks players who have the Anti-Lag+ function enabled. The problem affects not only Counter-Strike 2 but also several other competitive online shooters.   AMD has disabled the new Anti-Lag+ feature, which caused gamers to be blocked in Counter-Strike 2 The thing is that the method by which Anti-Lag+ works in games through the driver is identified by anti-cheat programs as one of the ways to bypass the game’s protection. Anti-Lag+ does not require developers to integrate it into a particular game but instead modifies game DLLs.  It is unclear what AMD will do next with its development. Perhaps it will simply block its activation in those games where this may be a problem, leaving the function active for everyone else. Let us remind you that the Anti-Lag+ function itself is designed to reduce delays.

These are almost complete copies of the RX 6700 and RX 6700 XT AMD today introduced the Radeon RX 6750 GRE 10GB and Radeon RX 6750 GRE 12GB video cards. Unlike the RX 7900 GRE, which is an independent model, these two new products are almost complete copies of the RX 6700 and RX 6700 XT. But at the same time, the new products are much cheaper, and because of this, they create competition for the same RX 7600. You can verify this by looking at the tests that have already been published by Chinese resources.  [caption id="attachment_70259" align="aligncenter" width="780"] AMD[/caption] As you can see, the youngest of the new products is slightly ahead of the RX 7600, while the older one is much faster and almost identical to the RX 6750 XT. At the same time, let us remind you that AMD’s new products are very cheap. Initially, only prices for China were known, but there are also retail prices for the US, which is strange considering that in the US and Europe, these adapters will reportedly only be available as part of pre-built PCs.  One way or another, for the US we are talking about $270 and $290 for the younger and older versions, respectively. The difference is surprisingly negligible, and the older card looks much more advantageous: it has more memory, a wider bus, and more stream processors.  AMD is selling for $290 while the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti sells for $400-$500. [caption id="attachment_70260" align="aligncenter" width="556"] AMD[/caption] [caption id="attachment_70261" align="aligncenter" width="563"] AMD[/caption] At the same time, the price of the RX 7600 is just $270, that is, we can say that both new products compete with this adapter and the older of the new products looks more profitable.   As for competing with Nvidia, the RX 6750 GRE 12GB is almost identical to the RTX 4060 Ti. Moreover, the latter costs $400.

Because of this, GPD is unable to supply its set-top boxes to customers. GPD, known for its portable laptop-game console hybrids, is experiencing supply problems with its new Win Max 2 model. And AMD is to blame for this, according to GPD.  [caption id="attachment_70240" align="aligncenter" width="780"] AMD[/caption] GPD accuses AMD of missing delivery dates for Ryzen 7000 hybrid processors GPD says AMD is unable to supply the pre-agreed number of Ryzen 7000 APUs on which the new console is based. More precisely, we are talking about the Ryzen 7 7840U. GPD received the first batch of these APUs, but they still haven’t received the second, although they should have received it a long time ago. As a result, GPD accused AMD of violating the terms of the contract, but it is not yet clear whether this is all formalized in legal form.  It is also unknown what volumes of Ryzen APUs we are talking about. However, you need to understand that AMD does not produce its own CPUs and GPUs. The company's modern solutions are produced by TSMC.

The basic version with 10 GB of memory costs this much, but there is also an option with 12 GB of memory. Today, AMD officially unveiled the Radeon RX 6750 GRE 3D card. It has two options that don't differ much in price ($305 and $325) but are very different in terms of features. [caption id="attachment_70227" align="aligncenter" width="780"] AMD[/caption] The base Radeon RX 6750 GRE with 10GB of GDDR6 memory has 36 compute units, a 160-bit memory bus, and 80MB of fast Infinity Cache memory. GPU frequency - 2189–2450 MHz, consumption - 170 W. This is how AMD describes the latest Radeon RX 6750 GRE graphics card for $305 [caption id="attachment_70228" align="aligncenter" width="780"] AMD[/caption] The Radeon RX 6750 GRE version with 12 GB of GDDR6 memory received a GPU with 40 computing units and a frequency of 2439–2581 MHz. The memory bus width was 192 bits, the Infinity Cache volume was 96 MB, and the consumption was much higher - 230 W. Both versions will be offered in China by AMD partners and major PC builders as pre-configured systems.

But this is hardly good for the CPU Alder Lake and Raptor Lake processors are characterized by very high power consumption and heating. Raptor Lake Refresh, due to increased frequencies and the absence of any changes in the architecture, will consume and heat up even more. And if desired, in some cases it will be possible to allow these CPUs to heat up to 115 degrees. [caption id="attachment_68854" align="aligncenter" width="780"] Intel Core processors[/caption] The new 14th-generation Intel Core processors can be allowed to operate at temperatures up to 115 degrees. MSI will make it possible to increase the processor throttling threshold for new Intel CPUs from the current 107 to 115 degrees. This feature will be available in the BIOS of motherboards based on 700 and 600 series chipsets. The setting will allow the processor to operate stably at temperatures up to 115 degrees. And this will only be possible with the new 14th-generation Intel Core. It's unclear whether these temperatures are acceptable for the new CPUs, but the setting is likely designed for overclocking enthusiasts rather than casual users.

Led by a 96-core CPU The announcement of the Ryzen Threadripper PRO 7000WX processors should take place on October 19, but today the characteristics of all models have hit the Internet. A total of six models are expected with several cores from 12 to 96. As you can see, the frequency of the new CPUs is more than impressive for their characteristics. The 96-core monster Ryzen Threadripper Pro 7995WX will operate at frequencies up to 5.15 GHz, and younger models will even reach 5.35 GHz. [caption id="attachment_65744" align="aligncenter" width="780"] Ryzen Threadripper PRO 7000WX[/caption] All Ryzen Threadripper PRO 7000WX processor models have been declassified Yes, the TDP will be no less impressive than 350 W, but if you remember that the previous generation had 280 W and offered only up to 64 cores, the figure for the new CPUs no longer seems so huge. Let us remind you that the new CPUs will be based on the Zen 4 architecture and produced using a 5 nm process technology.
