Two police officers were killed and three others left unconscious following a violent confrontation with members of the proscribed Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN), commonly known as the Shiites, in the Wuse area of Abuja on Sunday, August 25, 2024.   The clash occurred when the IMN members allegedly launched an unprovoked attack on police operatives stationed at a checkpoint near a traffic light at Wuse Junction. The assailants, wielding machetes, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), and knives, reportedly destroyed three police patrol vehicles during the altercation. Tragedy As Young Lady Passes Away On Birthday Following Brief Illness Josephine Adeh, the spokesperson for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command, confirmed the incident, describing it as an unprovoked attack on the police personnel.   The FCT police command wishes to confirm an unprovoked attack by the proscribed Islamic Movement of Nigeria, popularly known as the ‘Shi’ite’ group, on some personnel of the Nigeria Police Force attached to FCT command at Wuse Junction by the traffic light, where two (2) police personnel were killed, three left unconscious in the hospital, and three (3) police patrol vehicles set ablaze," she stated. Igweh, condemns the unprovoked attack on police officers and promises to bring those involved to book. Police arrest two for allegedly selling bundles of fake $100 notes in Abuja

The Federal Capital Territory FCT Police Command has apprehended two suspects for allegedly selling fake dollar notes to Abuja residents. The suspects, one Abdullahi Yahaya of Nasarawa State and Gold Ebere of Jabi were arrested at Tin Can Resort Garden in the Jabi area of the territory. The FCT Commissioner of Police, Benneth Igweh made the disclosure on Thursday while parading about five suspects at the command’s headquarters. The CP revealed that the suspects were in “possession of thirty-six (36) bundles of fake hundred (100) US dollar($) notes”. “They confessed to being members of an eight (8) man gang who specializes in the interstate sale of fake dollar notes and have sold several of the fake notes to unsuspecting residents of FCT before they ran out of luck and were apprehended. “The suspects are currently assisting the Police to apprehend other gang members on the run”, Igweh said. Popular Nigerian crossdresser, Abuja Area Mama murdered, lifeless body dumped on Mabushi Expressway.    A popular crossdresser, often referred to as 'Abuja Area Mama,' has been found dead in the Banex, Wuse II area of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT.   Read Also : APC Ward Chairman Beaten Beyond Recognition While Preaching Tinubu’s Achievements   Ejes Gist News reports that the crossdresser, whose full name was yet to be ascertained, lay lifeless along the Katampe-Mabushi Expressway on Thursday morning. The FCT Police Command Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh, while confirming the retrieval of the lifeless body in a statement, said that the Commissioner of Police, CP Benneth Igweh, has ordered a discreet investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.   The Police command spokesperson explained that operatives of the Command, who responded to a distress call from the area, immediately took the man to Maitama District Hospital where he was pronounced dead by doctors on duty. She said updates on the matter will be communicated in due course.

The Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Police Command says its operatives attached to Utako Divisional Headquarters have arrested at least six suspected armed robbers. A statement issued by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, SP Josephine Adeh said the coordinated raid operation was carried out on Tuesday. According to her, following credible information, the suspects were nabbed in an uncompleted hospital building hitherto marked as a black spot in the Utako village. The suspects include one Basara Hassan, Daniel Charles, Adamu M Oshiaka, Chancy Asidi and Saliu Al Hassan, all from neighbouring states bordering the FCT. The PPRO revealed that a locally made pistol, two live cartridges and wraps of substances suspected to be marijuana were recovered from the suspects. According to her, further investigation on the recovered ammunition led to the arrest of another suspect, one Yusuf Iliyasu, an ex-convict and the syndicate leader. “While investigation is ongoing, the Commissioner of Police FCT, CP Benneth C. The new Federal Capital Territory, FCT Commissioner of Police, Benneth C. Igweh has assumed duty as the 31st CP in the nation’s capital city amid the deteriorating security situation. DAILY POST recalls that the new CP took over from Haruna G. Garba following the latter’s promotion to the rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG. CP Benneth C. Igweh was born on the 7th of October, 1968. He hails from Akatta Oru-East Local Government Area of Imo State, Nigeria. His resumption of office was contained in a statement issued on Friday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh. According to the statement, the CP, while addressing Senior Officers of the Command in the maiden meeting of his administration, tasked officers to be dutiful and to wake up to their responsibilities, as his administration will have zero tolerance for laxity. He further stated that his administration will be characterized by nothing short of policing in line with best global practices, respect for fundamental human rights, visibility policing, and a proactive approach to security challenges in the territory.
