( 🌱 ) SKY . . IT WAS still so wonderful to be able to stand under the blue sky and be free from being in pain or hurting at the hands of the Doctor. even more so that kit could be with her and free too -- they'd gone through enough as it was : they deserved this.

( 🌱 ) THE LAXNESS OF the arrow abruptly ended at the mention of dottore's name , a flash of heightened terror flickering in the violet eyes of the dendric allogene as the weapon nocked properly once more. her heart rate sped and she forced herself to relax : it'd only been a question and nothing more. it wasn't an accusation and it held a flicker of distaste at the mention of him. it didn't like him.

COLLEI'S SHOULDERS REMAINED up , as did her alertness which remained even with tartaglia's confirmation that none would have to worry about the doctor for a good long while. she would only believe it the longer he stayed away , she'd seen and felt first hand the lengths the harbinger would go to recover its experiments. eugh she . . didn't want to think about it ---- thankful for when tartaglia changed the subject.

SHE DOESN'T SETTLE as she listens to it talk , express itself and its views on fighting and how . . excited it seemed over talking about in terms of leading to fatality or otherwise. to the girl it was hard to fathom what the traveler saw in the harbinger , guessing that it was deemed as ' safe ' as a harbinger could be all things considered. to converse with anyway.

SHE EXHALES , SHOULDERS beginning to sag as both her muscles and her energy begun to take a nose dive. ❝ . . IS THAT WHAT you and the traveler do ? friendly fight ?    ❞ she's shifting now , making her way to place her back against a tree ; using it as a support so she wouldn't topple.

It threw back its head and laughed.

❝ Yes, that sounds like her. You're talking about Dottore, right? ❞ A brief flash of distaste crossed his expression, quickly hidden behind a genial smile again. It wasn't hard to guess, knowing the Doctor had recently returned to Snezhnaya, two Gnoses in hand.

❝ Well, I'm sure he'll be holed up for a while. No need to worry about him. ❞ And good riddance, Childe thought to itself. The last traces of distaste vanished as it turned to a much more enjoyable topic.

❝ Of course fighting can be friendly! As much as I enjoy a good battle to the death, a friendly spar can teach you so much. Especially if it's against a skilled opponent. ❞

It cocked its head to the side as it considered asking her for a duel — but it has a feeling that wouldn't go over quite so well. No matter.

( 🌱 ) IT WAS STUPID. she felt stupid. her fingers dug into the dirt as her nose scrunched , knees dirtied by the tumble she took part - ways down the hill after being surprised by fauna she didn't recognize. looking up to the man who had helped her lock away the power that had nearly destroyed her and the friends she had made in mondstadt . . it felt weird. not in a bad way but . . someone actually seemed to take the time and wait for her. to care.

❝   R . . RIGHT. SORRY.   ❞ pushing herself up she winced , her side aching if only due to the tumble. she took a couple steps forward , testing out if she could walk ( she could ) 'fore looking up to cyno expectantly. she'll continue following.

( 🌱 ) THERE'S CAUTION EVEN as she gently grips the mahamatra's cloak as she part - way hides behind him. while trust was still budding between the two of them she still couldn't be sure of a lot of things. her legs feel weaker in her current nervous state but she does her best to remain standing.

( 🌱 ) THE GIRL BURST into a fit of giggles , a wide grin placed on her face as she enjoyed the playful teasing and jokes that she and him COULD BOUNCE OFF one another.

IT DIDN'T MATTER if it was a joke , he did give her time off today so that she could do whatever she wished to do. getting sweets ? especially baked ones from tighnari himself ---- she couldn't be happier.

"Now Collei, don't you know your gift from me was a break from your lessons?" Is he teasing? It's difficult to say.

Regardless, a small personal plate of various treats was set before her, made of course by his hand.

"Happy birthday. You've grown so much in such a short time, and like a true flower I know you'll only continue to blossom. Enjoy the rest of the evening, I've got something special planned for an outing tomorrow with the rangers for training, which does include you."

( 🌱 ) SHE FEELS HORRIBLE. the slightest bit embarrassed over the terror she felt currently. she had thought she'd been getting better when it came to others touching her , even by accident but the reaction she had to one of the other forest rangers grabbing her hand set her off.

she's currently on the ground after lashing out , in tears and gripping her shoulders tightly as a heavy aura set in around her. while the power cyno had sealed was dormant , there was remnants that still reacted when she felt as if she were in danger. she lets out a small strangled whine as she tries to keep herself from crying even more , wanting nothing more but to be small and unseen as she tried to follow the instructions from the person she trusted the most.

❛ T - TRYING . . ❜ she chokes out , palming at her eyes to cease the wetness as she sucked in a breath in and holding it - gaze following the general as he breathed out , mirroring the action.

( 🌱 ) COLLEI COULDN'T HELP but laugh even in her mock horrified tone that came through moments later , ❝ KAEYA . . ! I'M SURE they don't need to know the trouble i caused here when i was here last. master cyno already made the decision not to bring it up in his writings when we got to sumeru.    ❞ she sticks her tongue but her giggle still came through her words ; she knew he was joking or at the very least was just pulling her leg.

SHE GLANCED UPWARD as kaeya's hand came to rest atop her head and she smiled up at him. he was correct in that ; most of the heads of the darshan's and those within them liked her and she enjoyed their company most of all. some darshan's she knew she wasn't cut out for , as much as it disappointed uncle kaveh to realize.

TAKING THE MENU from him she shrugged a shoulder. ❝ I KNOW . . EVEN after being . . away for so long it feels so weird to have a chance. i never really thought i'd get this far you know ? feels unreal sometimes but . . i have time now to make a choice on my own and follow through. if it doesn't work out that's okay too. i'm happy with master tighnari in the vale and my studies with him as a forest ranger.   ❞ her gaze flicked down to the menu as she went through her options -- oh that one looks good.

❝ NO NEED I don't think . . the flaming red bolognase looks really good. can miss sara make it extra spicy ?    ❞

“Hmm, where’s the fun in that?” Kaeya would ask her, his tone light and full of amusement as his smile became sly. “I think they’d be entertained by some of the stories I have.”

Though, he relented with a Dramatic Sigh, placing an assuring hand upon her head once they were at the top of the stairs. “Don’t worry, Collei. Whatever recommendation I’ll give you will be certain to get them warmed up to you. To be honest, though, I’d be shocked if they weren’t already.”

Guiding her over towards one of the tables at Good Hunter, he gave Sara a small nod and a wave. She gave him a puzzled expression before he pointed at Collei with his lips, with which she then understood and smiled.

As the girl spoke of the options she had been considering, the Captain looked towards her once more while passing her a menu, humming lightly. “Well, why not talk to them about it some more and ask them about their experiences as well as what brought them to their choices? I’m sure the three of them would love to tell you and help you make your choice. You have some time still to figure it all out, and if you ever change your mind, then I don’t doubt they’d attempt to accommodate you properly. They value knowledge and the pursuit of it, after all.”

Gesturing towards the menu, he smiled at the verdant girl more kindly this time. “Go on, pick something out. If there’s nothing on the menu that you like, can probably ask Sara to whip up whatever you want. It’ll be my treat.”

( 🌱 ) IT WAS A relief to be back in nature and away from the port after being dragged into a sad and massive reminder of her past. of her anger and fury that had been thankfully quashed by gaining friends and . . family. she'd been able to get where she is with a support structure and finally given a chance and a life that could be lived without pain and fear of making people's lives worse for knowing her.

SHE'S DISTRACTED IN her thoughts as the awkward silence once again suffocated the air between the general and the student. she perks , blinking as he speaks up again , chin lifting off her palm as she pondered the offer and returned the question with a smile , nodding in obvious delight and enthusiasm.

❝   I'D LOVE TOO ! i'm not very good yet . . but it is fun. the traveler took me once and we both had a great time -- have they taken you at all yet ? or has work been . . really busy ?   ❞ she wouldn't be surprised , though she was far from disappointed. he made sumaru safe and she couldn't be happier for that to be the case. she glances over at the question posed , sheepish while she cast her line into the water.

SHE WAS A lot of things back then. smaller , scared and unsure ( fearful . . ) of just about everything. she was sure she was frustrating to deal with , she barely felt safe or comfortable enough to be away from cyno for long periods . . especially after she'd found out that He still remained in the region.

COLLEI GIGGLES AT the joke , smiling brightly at him. ❝   I MIGHT HAVE . . but i do remember , yeah. i remember being terrified and . . struggling to trust that you were being kind. that i wasn't . . in trouble.   ❞

☽       *    ●    .    ☾       ―     The  General  Mahamatra  has  a  rest  day  and  he  spends  it  camping  with  Collei  in  the  forest.  It  was  planned  knowing  Tighnari  would  be  in  Port  Ormos  during  the  flower  festival  as  a  chance  for  the  two  of  them  to  deepen  their  bond  and  spend  time  together. 

However,  without  the  charismatic  forest  ranger  around,  there  are  moments  of  awkward  silences  between  two  introverts  and  Cyno  does  not  want  this  entire  trip  to  prove  he  cannot  spend  time  with  Collei  without  Tighnari's  help.  She  may  be  Tighnari's  student,  but  to  Cyno,  she  is  …  dearly  important  to  their  academic  family. 

“Shall  we  go  fishing?”  Cyno  offers  once  their  campsite  has  been  made. 

The  riverbank  is  not  far  from  their  camp  and  once  they're  sitting  with  poles  in  hand,  waiting  for  the  fish  to  bite  at  the  line  bait,  Cyno  looks  to  Collei  and  faintly  smiles. 

“Do  you  remember  the  day  I  brought  you  to  Sumeru?  You  were  smaller  then.  Now  you've  all  grown  .  .  .  have  you  been  eating  Tighnari's  fertilizer?”

( 🌱 ) SHE'S RATHER PROUD of herself in how well the joke seemed to have landed. while a little embarrassed at how easy it was to come up with it ( oh archon's above she was really taking after him ----- tighnari would be horrified at this revelation ) she smiled , hands coming to rest on her hips as she lifted her chin to PRESS HOME that feeling.

SHE GIGGLED AS her adoptive father figure laughs , though her brows crinkle when she can hear that it probably hurts to laugh for him. a pang of guilt ran through her but it settled once he responds verbally. gosh , tighnari would have another reason to talk to her : especially if all this laughter inflamed the mahamatra's throat even further.

COLLEI STARTS TO relax however when he topples over. oh ---- !

❝ M - MASTER CYNO ?! ❞

( 🌱 ) HERE SHE GOES . . ❛ UM MASTER CYNO ? why are you here all . . bi yourself ? ❜ / coughs loudly. a secret fourth thing: a joke. cyno and collei.

Wide eyes meet Collei with a look of utter stupification. Cyno isn't sure he heard right at first, wonders if her words are a result of his fever perhaps. But...no, he pinches himself, and the sight before him remains unchanged.

It's then that her joke hits him fully, and he (painfully) snorts into his hands. His shoulders shake as laughter ripples through him, his blanket slipping as a result of the movement. There are tears in his eyes: from pride and his burning throat alike.

"Un-bi-lievable!" He chokes out in between bouts of laughter.

(He ends up toppling over, utterly defeated by the joint hilarity of both of their jokes. Oh Collei, you've grown up so well!)

( 🌱 ) COLLEI'S GAZE LIFTS, almost jolting as the scribe's voice seems to appear out of nowhere. her heart rabbits in her chest as she turns to look at him with wide eyes 'fore she nods once - body reacting quicker than the WORDS COULD LEAVE her mouth.

❛ . . Y - YES ! um . . are those dandelion seeds ? ❜ her surprise gives way to curiosity as the girl scurries a little CLOSER TOWARD ALHAITHAM.
