Isasa — Canciones De Amor (Repeditor / Feeding Tube)

Canciones De Amor is the fifth solo album by the Spanish guitarist Isasa. The sturdy thumb-driven rhythm and bucolic vibe of his early recordings under that name (like a lot of folks playing guitar soli these days, he has a distant rock and roll past, most notably in the band Room With A View) betrayed a strong Takoma school influence. The sound of Canciones De Amor continues an evolution away from the fields plowed by John Fahey, Glenn Jones, and Jack Rose, but it holds close to a chief tenet of their work — that music played on a steel-stringed acoustic guitar can take you on an emotional journey.

The LP takes advantage of its inevitable split to divide the music into solo pieces and more layered works. Isasa’s picking has become more delicate and reflective than on earlier LPs, and as the first sequence progresses, the tunes get longer, slower, and more elaborate. It finishes with a piece whose title, “Carta A Mi Joven Yo” (“A Letter To My Younger Self”), amounts to a missive telling Isasa-the-younger that it’s going to be okay to settle down. “Firmamento” begins side two with a transition of scene and sound. Isasa’s guitar seems to loom out of a still synthesizer-scape. From there, things brighten considerably, as the voices of loved ones pop up in tunes that are subtly dressed up with lap steel and piano. One track is named after his spouse, another after one of the children in his house, and two more kids contribute voices to a third.

Isasa’s trip has a very personal destination, and each element plays a part in telling the story.

The album’s titular love songs celebrate home life, and as member of the household takes their place, the additional layers take the music away from the stage. As it grows more elaborate the music becomes more comforting. It’s as though the composer wants his audience to know that as much as he’s happy that they’re listening, he is not going to be hanging out by the edge of the stage, because there are people he wants to see at home. And if he doesn’t come back to the club for a while, perhaps you can just listen to this record,  kicking back someone you love.

In the town itself, you’ll find the beaches of Costa Calma and Esmerelda. Nearby places to explore are Cofete and the Jandía Natural Park. You can do it on foot or more recommended on the bike for sport and nature lovers. Costa Calma is one of the more peaceful parts of Fuerteventura. The northern end of the Jandia peninsula is edged by a massive national park and a winding, sandy beach. The sea’s powerful waves make it a surfers’ paradise.

Filmkulissen der Kanaren - Hollywood ist begeistert!

Kennt ihr kanarische Filmkulissen aus bekannten Hollywood-Movies?

Für Hollywood haben die Kanaren ganz besondere Anreize. Allein 2018 waren es insgesamt 71 Filme über alle Inseln verteilt. Die Kanaren bieten beste Voraussetzungen für einsame Filmkulissen. Jede Insel hat ihren eigenen Charme. Manchmal findest du Dschungel, einsame Strände und Vulkangebirge auf einer und der selben Insel, sodass die verschiedenen Drehorte für einen Film nicht sehr weit voneinander entfernt liegen. Zudem überzeugt die ausgesprochen gute Infrastruktur für einfache Verkehrswege. Um die Drehzeiten einhalten zu können, muss auch das Wetter mitspielen. Auf den Kanaren ist das Wetter ganzjährig gemäßigt. Je nachdem auf welcher Insel gedreht wird, fällt hier kaum Niederschlag. Es müssen also keine Drehpausen aufgrund von schlechtem Wetter eingelegt werden. Eine planmäßige Drehzeit wird sehr wahrscheinlich umsetzbar sein.

Perfekte Lichtverhältnisse auf den Kanaren

Wer schon einmal auf den Kanaren unterwegs war und gerne fotografiert, stellt ziemlich schnell fest, dass der Lichteinfall ganz anders ist als auf dem europäischen Festland. Das liegt an der Nähe des Äquators. Die Sonneneinstrahlung ist viel stärker, das Licht heller und die Belichtung hierdurch optimal für Filmdrehs und die Fotografie. Außerdem haben die Kanaren nicht nur super Drehverhältnisse sondern auch steuerliche Vorteile für die Filmproduktionen. Sie können 40 Prozent der Drehkosten steuerlich absetzen.

Filmkulissen auf Fuerteventura

Fuerteventura ist mit seiner Länge von 98 km, die längste Insel der Kanaren. Sie liegt nur ca. 80 km von der afrikanischen Westküste entfernt und somit ist sie nicht weit von der Sahara entfernt. Einige charakteristischen Merkmale der Sahara, wie Trockenheit, karge Steppe und Sanddünen findest du auch auf Fuerteventura. Besonders faszinierend ist die Weite der Insel, welche es in dieser Form auf keiner anderen Insel der Kanaren gibt. Die perfekte Filmkulisse für zum Beispiel Westernfilme. Landstriche mit unterschiedlichen Erdtönen erinnern an Szenen im Iran, Afghanistan oder anderen Planeten. „Wonder Woman“ wurde beispielsweise in den puderweißen Dünen von Corralejo gedreht. Ein weiterer großer internationaler Dreh spielte sich 2016 auf dem südlichen Teil der Insel ab. Habt ihr euch schon einmal gefragt, wo sich die Kulisse von „Solo: A star wars story“ befindet? Im Film schaut es aus als wäre der Film irgendwo in einem Nationalpark in den USA gedreht worden. Tatsächlich wurde der Film im abgelegenen Pecenescal-Tal und Sicasumbre in der Region Pajara auf Fuerteventura gedreht.Der Naturpark Jandia und der auf der Westküste gelegene, weltbekannte Strand von Cofete ist besonders bei Hollywood-Regisseuren beliebt. 2014 wurde auch die Bibelverfilmung „Exodus: Götter und Könige“ auf dem südlichen Teil der Insel gedreht. Christian Bale im Film als „Moses“, führt sein Volk von Ägypten in das Heilige Land. In einer Szene schaut Moses auf den atemberaubenden Strand von Cofete hinunter. Ein weiterer Drehort befand sich in den „Barrancos de las Penitas“. Eine Felsenschlucht welche mit Palmen versehen ist. Sie befindet sich im Inneren des Landes und hier befand sich das Dorf von Moses Frau.Auf Fuerteventura liegt im Süden der Insel ein Zoo „Oasis Park“. Der einzige, große, begrünte Fleck auf der Insel. Für den Filmdreh „Exodus: Götter und Könige“ wurden einige Kamele aus dem Zoo ausgeborgt.Die Inseleinwohner sind stolz, ihre Landschaft in dem einen oder anderen Hollywood Film wieder zu finden. Außerdem werden oft Statisten gesucht, welche sich auf der Insel befinden. Mit etwas Glück haben die einheimischen Inselbewohner die Chance sich nicht nur mit ihrer Landschaft, sondern auch mit sich selbst in den Filmen zu verewigen.

Filmkulissen auf anderen kanarischen Inseln

Natürlich sind die günstigen Drehort-Möglichkeiten nicht nur auf Fuerteventura zu finden, sondern auch andere Inseln der Kanaren bieten genügend Raum für einzigartige Filmkulissen an. Hauptsächlich wurde auf den großen Inseln, wie Teneriffa und Gran Canaria gedreht. Es herrscht eine bessere Infrastruktur und gute Fluganbindungen zum Festland. Einige bekannte Filme wie „Fast and Furious 6“ oder „Kampf der Titanen“ wurden auf Teneriffa geshootet. Der Nationalpark am bekannten Teide, bietet eine einzigartige Vegetation und auch die Wälder im Norden der Insel lassen keine Wünsche für den perfekten Drehort übrig. Hollywood ist begeistert von der unterschiedlichen Flora und Fauna und zieht die Kanaren immer mehr als Shooting-Ort in Betracht.

Spanien präsentiert sich der internationalen Filmindustrie

Gerade erst kürzlich (2022) hat sich Spanien, internationalen Vertretern der US-Filmindustrie vorgestellt. Die spanische Regierung erkennt die wachsende Nachfrage der internationalen Filmindustrie und geht darauf mit einem Förderprogramm für die Filmwirtschaft ein. Meetings mit Fachkräften aus der Filmbranche, Besichtigungen von unterschiedlichen Drehortmöglichkeiten, sowie Veranstaltungen z.B mit der „Motion Picture Association“ sind hierbei inbegriffen. Spanien möchte der internationalen Filmbranche, seine besondere Landschaften und seine steuerlichen Vorteile, insbesondere auf den Kanaren, schmackhaft machen. Außerdem steht die Sicherheit bei einem Filmdreh an oberster Stelle, womit das spanische Festland aber auch die Inseln punkten können. Politische Unruhen oder extreme Auflagen sind hier eher eine Seltenheit.

Neue Filmstudios auf Gran Canaria

Ein zusätzliches Highlight sind die 2021 fertig gebauten und 2022 neu eröffneten Filmstudios „Filmstudios los Cabildos“ in Las Palmas auf Gran Canaria. Mit einer Fläche von 1800 und 1200 Quadratmetern wächst auch das Angebot an Indoor Shootings. Ein weiterer Pluspunkt für eine Entscheidung einer Filmproduktion auf den Kanaren. Die Hoffnung der Spanier ist groß, dass die Kanaren in den kommenden Jahren ein attraktiver Produktionsstandort sein werden und besonders internationale Produktionen mit all seinen Vorzügen überzeugen werden.
