They follow the gravity section of my SART assessment task, ‘Gravity and Gravitas’: looking at the fragility of the human condition through the wearing of skin, and its major flaw being that of its reaction to gravity. I suppose it also looks in to gravitas, being a bit morbid and what not...

FINAL ASSESSMENT 3 - PDF GRAPHIC NOVEL

This is our final pdf: a graphic novel which re-contextualises the fairy tale of Little Red Riding Hood within our dystopian world.

Concepts

The notion of the wolf in the novel not only symbolises the danger within this particular society, but- through the well-known plot of the wolf disguising itself as Little Red’s grandmother, also represents how this world conceals its flaws and corruption. ‘Scarlette’s’ naivety in this case depicts her free-minded soul and divergent thinking, something that Vermillion City thinks as incompatible within this society. Her father also happens to be one of those- as a scientist and painter, which is why he too is killed and swept under the corrupted underground of the city.  

Graphic form

We replicated what graphic novels would look like through the title page add-ins, the black and white comic and frame composition/speech bubbles. Comic font was used to imitate the type used in many graphic novels and the art style of our graphic novel combines cartoon and real life together.

Work 2 and 3- Never miss a beat.

I have taken objects of today; an earphone, a phone chip and electrical wires; and have combined them in a new way in order to produce two new items that explore how music is heard and controlled in the future. The chip is designed to tune into an individual's emotions and mood in order to produce a personalised playlist to suit each person’s individual liking and need. Similaly, the earpiece device is designed to tune into the individual’s thoughts when put on, being able to tune into a livestream of any musical sort, for example, a concert, a club, a festival, or a live music event.

My favourite of Aiden’s photography being used as the background for our pages on the zine. We are planning on using collage to cover the current photographs of our time and use our drawings to bring new meaning to the future.
