Georgia: 2022 Southeastern Football Champions
ATLANTA - Georgia swatted away the field goal attempt, the ball spinning to a stop at its 4-yard line. The LSU players trudged off the field, thinking the play was over.
Christopher Smith knew better. He suddenly scooped it up and took off the other way, sprinting 96 yards for a touchdown that epitomized the Bulldogs program.
They were a step ahead of LSU on Saturday.
They've been a step ahead of everyone for two years now.
With all sorts of turmoil behind them in the rankings, Georgia headed to the College Football Playoff as the clear No. 1, dismantling the No. 11 Tigers 50-30 in the Southeastern Conference championship game Saturday.
Stetson Bennett's threw a season-high four touchdown passes in another stellar postseason performance, while Smith's heads-up play gave the Bulldogs an early spark.
"I've got good players around me. I'm not that bad at football, either," Bennett said with a smile. "We've got a good team."
Georgia (13-0, No. 1 CFP) also caught a big break when Smith deflected a pass that bounced off an LSU receiver's helmet and wound up being picked off by the Bulldogs, setting up a score that contributed to a 35-10 lead by halftime.
LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels re-injured a sore right ankle late in the second quarter, giving way to Garrett Nussmeier in the second half.
The backup guiding the Tigers (9-4, No. 14 CFP) to three second-half touchdowns, but it wasn't nearly enough.
Georgia accomplished something that not even last season's national championship squad could could do - win its first SEC title since 2017. The Bulldogs were denied in this game a year ago by Alabama, before bouncing back to beat the Crimson Tide in the title game.
"I don't want one kid to walk out of our program without an SEC championship ring in their careers," coach Kirby Smart said. "That could've happened. They said enough is enough and got 'em one tonight."
Georgia heads into the playoff assured of a return trip to Atlanta for a de facto semifinal home game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, just 75 miles from its Athens campus.
LSU's outside hopes of crashing the four-team playoff field were wiped out a week ago by a stunning loss at Texas A&M, one of several upsets that will give the selection committee plenty to think about before its announcement Sunday.
Tennessee and Clemson also ruined their playoff hopes with losses late in the regular season, while No. 4 Southern California is presumably out after getting blown out by Utah in the Pac-12 title game Friday night.
Just as the SEC game was kicking off, No. 3 TCU lost to Kansas State in overtime for the Big 12 championship, further clouding a playoff picture that suddenly looks much more favorable for No. 5 Ohio State and No. 6 Alabama.
No matter who makes the elite field, Georgia is firmly focused on becoming the first repeat national title since Alabama in 2011-12, having won all but one game this season by double-digit margins.
"I've tried not to play attention to any of it," Smart said of all the chaos. "It didn't matter to me. That's so far away."
The Bulldogs showed they are more than just a bunch of talented athletes - this is a smart, well-coached group.
When Nazir Stackhouse burst through the middle of the line to block LSU's 32-yard field goal attempt late in the first quarter, Smith knew what to do.
"That's a scenario we go over a lot in practice," he said.
He looked toward the sideline to see if it was OK to grab it.
"You're not allowed to pick it up unless you can score with it," Smart said.
Smith took care of the rest.
LSU coach Brian Kelly blamed himself and his staff for allowing the play to happen.
"Obviously, we did a poor job if coaching," he said. "It's our responsibility to have our guys alert in that situation. They were not alert."
LSU quickly tied it up on Daniels' 53-yard touchdown pass to Kayshon Boutte, only to have Bennett take control from there.
The sixth-year senior, a former walk-on who was offensive MVP of both Georgia playoffs wins a year ago, struck for four TD passes in a less than 15-minute span: 3 yards to Brock Bowers, 22 yards to Ladd McConkey, 14 yards to Darnell Washington and 3 yards to Dillon Bell.
Just like that, Georgia led 35-7.
"I was in a zone," Bennett said.
It's been that way for two years now.
THE TAKEAWAY
LSU: Kelly's debut season turned a bit ugly the last two weeks, but the Tigers are on the right track. "We want to get back here next year. That's our goal," Kelly said. "Get back here and win it."
Georgia: Win or lose in the SEC title game, the Bulldogs were assured of a spot in the playoff. But Smart continues to impress with his ability to keep the team motivated. While there were some huge defensive lapses in the second half, this game was never in doubt.
GOING FOR 2
When Georgia scored its final touchdown early in the fourth quarter for a 48-23 lead, Smart surprisingly called for a 2-point conversion.
The Bulldogs converted it with a trick play, but Smart insisted that he wasn't trying to run up the score.
"The books says you go for 2 there," he said.
When asked about the play, Kelly stumbled over his words a bit before finally saying, "I don't get too caught up in what other teams are doing."
INJURY REPORT
While Daniels went down for LSU, Georgia also lost a couple of players to injuries in the first half.
McConkey landed awkwardly making a catch along the sideline, inflaming a knee issue that's been bothering him all year. Tight offensive tackle Warren McClendon sustained what appears to be a mild MCL sprain.
Neither returned after halftime.

Sports betting strategy to help improve your handicapping skills
Around here at The Athletic, we followed the measurable model Slingshot's bombshell picks all through the 2021 NCAA men's ball competition. It put a rate opportunity of a steamed in light of elements that were common in past bombshells. By changing over moneyline chances to a rate, we could recognize which moneyline bets Slingshot distinguished as a decent worth. Then, at that point, utilizing those bets would have been productive.
Betting with or against the general population This is a typical technique, however there's less rationale to it. The overall thought is that fans will quite often bet on their own groups a ton, so famous groups become exaggerated in betting business sectors. This applies most in fates markets, yet with such countless choices in many prospects advertises, it's hard to bet against every one of the well known groups. A few models incorporate the Dallas Cattle rustlers, the New York Yankees and the Vegas Brilliant Knights.
Ad
Sportsbooks need to adjust activity on bets since it limits risk. Ideally for sportsbooks, a portion of the cash would be in Group A, and the other half would be in Group B. In this way, they are ensured to bring in cash on the hold and have no gamble. Actually, this is challenging to do, however they will move lines to adjust the cash. On the off chance that famous groups are getting a large portion of the activity, the lines will push toward that group and, in principle, away from a more precise betting line. Going the alternate way could mean getting a slight edge for you, however this is clearly flawed.
Betting a corresponded parlay School football has some celebrated presentation games in non-gathering play. Alabama or Clemson playing FCS groups that never get an opportunity to make a serious game. Those games are disproportionate to such an extent that the books foresee the rival groups to score less than 10 places. Check out 1 lottery login.
You might see a line like Clemson - 42 with a sum of 45. Consolidating the spread and the complete gives an extended score as per Clemson 42, Irredeemable FCS State 3. For the under to win, the FCS group nearly needs to cover the spread. The main way Clemson covers and the under comes in is with a score of 43-0 or 44-0. Each and every blend of focuses under 45 includes the FCS group covering. By parlaying the two bets, you risk one bet to win multiple times your cash.
Lines on these games aren't generally offered in light of the strange nature, however this is an illustration of a significant system.
This likewise applies to groups with inverse beats. Assuming you think the main way a group wins is assuming that they win the beat fight and they are a stoppage group, you can parlay that group and the under.

NFL Week 11
This weekend brought out many exciting plays from the wideouts. After compiling my first half of the season top-10 and due to a short week this weeks post will not be a long one. The wideout of the week goes to Davante Adams of the Las Vegas Raiders. Adams had a few drops that I won’t harp on but boy was he amazing. What I don’t understand from defenses is how they keep allowing Adams to beat them on that front pylon post that half his touchdowns have come from. It really baffles me as I break down the tape each week. But aye I’m on the side of the wideouts so Davante keep doing what you do and we appreciate the 7 catches 141 yards and two touchdowns you gave us.
With Ja’Maar Chase Your Dreams sidelined his counterpart picked up the slack. Tee Higgins had a monstrous game catching 9 balls for 143 yards. Higgins caught a ball from damn near every route on the route tree. Hitch, curl, out, slant, dig/speed in, fade, basic and had a real good catch on a comeback route. One hell of a game by the 3rd year pro out of Clemson.
While Tee Higgins was running the gamut of routes, a name I have never heard of seemed to catch the same routes against the stout San Francisco 49ers defense. Greg Dortch of the Arizona Cardinals ran 5 out routes, a slant, spot and two screens to end the afternoon with 9 catches for 103 yards. I believe he can add to inconsistent wideout core when star quarterback Kyler Murray returns. The 2nd year pro adds the speed and quickness the Cardinals need in the slot especially with all-pro tight end Zack Ertz sidelined with a knee injury.
Next up is another name I’m seeing for the first time in Demarcus Robinson. What’s even worse is when you click his name on NFL.com the website jumps to a blank search screen. I’m sure if the kid keeps making plays that will be updated. Robinson had a solid outing against the Carolina Panthers. Robinson caught all 9 passes thrown his way and finished with 128 yards. He opened with a nice catch on a bang 8 that was thrown slightly behind. He caught two outs which were not the prettiest of routes but followed those with a beautifully ran slant route that he almost scored on. Robinson also made some tough sidelined toe touch catches and looked nimble on a screen for his final catch.
This next wideout had one of the best college careers you can have. Amari Cooper was a beast at Alabama. It’s funny to watch him in Cleveland especially when I listen to Shannon Sharpe and Skip Bayless talk about how in Dallas he would sometimes show up or how he would fake injured until a play he liked was called. And then I watch his tape. He’s the best slant runner in the game and its not even close. He has obliterated defensive backs on press releases all year. I believe he’s mastered the game. Yea he looks a little heavier than I think he should play at but it appears he uses the slow game to surprise db’s when he wants too. His first touchdown was a corner route that he showed tremendous concentration with the db draped over him. Cooper’s next tub came on a quick fade at about the 7 yard line. He finished the game with 8 catches for 113 yards and 2 TD’s.
Treylon Burks of the Tennessee Titans opened the game against the Packers with a skinny post. Burks caught a few shallow crosses and caught a streak that helped him have an 111 yard day on 7 catches. Josh Palmer is making his second appearance on the blog with 8 catches for 106 yards and 2 touchdowns. Palmer opened the game with a deep corner for a 51-yard touchdown. I like how agile he is for a bigger wideout. His second td came on a 12 yard over route. Palmer improves week to week and I like what I’m witnessing.
Chris Olave showed his speed running by Taylor Rapp of the Los Angeles Rams for a 53 yard score. Olave finished with 5 catches for 102 yards and the lone td. Wandale Robinson had his first 100 yard game with 9 catches for 100 yards. Robinson is quick and shifty and I believe he’ll be a problem for defenses the rest of the year.
I wanted to get this blog finished before the first turkey game between the Detroit Lions and Buffalo Bills. Happy Thanksgiving to all and may the wideouts be thankful for the opportunity to ball. Let’s Go!

Clemson Thrashes Alabama to Win 2019 National Championship
Clemson Thrashes Alabama to Win 2019 National Championship
Clemson’s freshman quarterback Trevor Lawrence arrived here as a wild card dealt into a familiar national championship hand. Alabama, carrying the glow of its array of championship trophies, hoped the 19-year-old Lawrence might be rattled under pressure, from both the Crimson Tide’s pass rushers and the weight of the moment.
But…

2021 Top Games of the Week: Week 7
We don’t have any real heavyweight fights, but plenty of intrigue flying around some division and conference races.
The Top Ten Games of the Week
10. #20 Florida 4-2 (2-2) at LSU 3-3 (1-2)
The SEC can usually be countered on to conjure up interesting games even at the periphery of division races. Florida and LSU have both taken a few black eyes already. Things are going South in Baton Rouge pretty quickly, and many people are afraid for Ed Orgeron’s job at this point. A loss to the Gators might be the final straw for a program with national championship aspirations.
9. Auburn 4-2 (1-1) at #17 Arkansas 4-2 (1-2)
Both of these teams are holding steady against a tough schedule. I’m not sure many teams can beat Georgia. Auburn and Arkansas are likely out of the West race already but if they want any hope for a late run they need to win this game.
8. #5 Alabama 5-1 (1-1) at Mississippi State 3-2 (1-1)
We’re about to watch Alabama take its frustrations out on an air raid team. Could be fun to watch.
7. TCU 3-2 (1-1) at #4 Oklahoma 6-0 (3-0)
TCU’s defense probably isn’t going to be able to pull off the upset, but the Sooners have looked so shaky at times it’s hard to tell if they’ll implode one of these weeks.
6. #13 Ole Miss 4-1 (1-1) at Tennessee 4-2 (2-1)
The SEC has a bundle of teams figuring themselves out. Ole Miss has been looking strong most of this season, while Tennessee seems to be figuring things out on offense. This has the potential for a lot of scoring.
5. Pittsburgh 4-1 (1-0) at Virginia Tech 3-2 (1-0)
Finally, an honest to god division game with some weight to it. So far, Pitt and Virginia Tech look like the only serious contenders for the ACC Coastal title. Every other team in the division has disappointed at least once and a few have looked very bad. The winner here will have a nice lead on the rest of the field and should find themselves in Charlotte.
4. #22 NC State 4-1 (1-0) at Boston College 4-1 (1-0)
We may be living in an post-Clemson Atlantic Division. NC State is in poll position, and a team like Boston College has the toughness to threaten them.
3. #11 Kentucky 6-0 (4-0) at #1 Georgia 6-0 (4-0)
Well it was fun while it lasted. Kentucky comes face to face with reality when they travel to Athens.
2. #18 Arizona State 5-1 (3-0) at Utah 3-2 (2-0)
I suppose that UK-UGA is a bigger game but this one has an outcome that’s in doubt. Utah and ASU are already the best viable contenders for the PAC-12 South title. The winner here has a great claim to travel to Vegas.
1. #12 Oklahoma State 5-0 (2-0) at #25 Texas 4-2 (2-1)
Big 12 intrigue never ceases. Unless you think the only team that matters is Oklahoma, in which case this game might not matter.
-
5 G5 Games of the Week
5. Fresno State 4-2 (1-1) at Wyoming 4-1 (0-1)
The Mountain West has several good teams in a pack racing towards the championship. This week Fresno and Wyoming meet.
4. #24 San Diego State 5-0 (1-0) at San Jose State 3-3 (1-1)
San Diego Sate makes it into the top 25 as one of the few remaining undefeated G5 teams. How far can the Aztecs go?
3. UCF 3-2 (1-1) at #3 Cincinnati 5-0 (1-0)
Probably not a big deal.
2. 19 BYU 5-1 at Baylor 5-1 (3-1)
BYU took one on the chin with their loss to Boise State. The Cougars likely can’t recoup an NY6 bid unless something goes severely wrong with a few conferences.
1. Air Force 5-1 (2-1) at Boise State 3-3 (1-1)
Boise State is back apparently, but so is Air Force. This looks like the best product on the field in the G5 this week.
-
FCS Games of the Week
5. Indiana State 3-3 (1-2) at #20 Missouri State 3-2 (2-1)
The MVFC has a higher batting average that most FCS conference in producing good matchups..
4. Dartmouth 4-0 (2-0) at #23 New Hampshire 3-2 (2-1)
In-state rivals Dartmouth and New Hampshire meet for the first time in five years with high stakes on both sides.
3. #22 North Dakota 2-3 (0-2) at #4 Southern Illinois 5-1 (3-0)
2. #21 South Dakota 4-2 (2-1) at #16 Northern Iowa 3-2 (1-1)
Two more good undercard games provided by the MVFC.
1. #9 Montana State 5-1 (3-0) at #19 Weber State 2-3 (1-1)
The Big Sky takes honors this week as Playoff hopefuls Montana State and Weber State battle for league supremacy.

THE DEGENERATE’S GUIDE TO COLLEGE FOOTBALL TV WATCH ‘EM UPS 2021: WEEK TWO, A MUDDLED AND MAUDLIN WEEK OF MAYHEM IN HONOR OF THOSE WE LOST
RTARL would like to extend our warmest holiday wishes to those who celebrate and, even if you don’t, happy 9/11. Now who’s ready for some FOOTBALL!!!!?!?!
So after two weeks of games that combine to count as only one official week even though some teams have already played twice we have only one real question answered: is Alabama still good? Yes, they are. Everything else is still liquefying vapor.
I am assuming everybody is waiting with baited breath for an RTARLsman but I don’t have anything yet. I guess the not-Master Teague RBs on Ohio State are the frontrunners for now. Or that one guy from that one team who was good. You know who I mean.
Saturday, September 11
Matchup Time (ET) TV/Mobile
Illinois at Virginia 11:00am ACCN
Jeff George won Citrus Bowl MVP for the Illini against the Hoos in his last game as a student athlete before becoming the #1 overall pick in the 1990 NFL Draft. Based on this history it is safe to presume that whoever the QB is for Illinois today will be the #1 pick in 2022.
VMI at Kent State 11:30am ESPN3
I’m not sure on this but maybe this game is cancelled.
WKU at Army 11:30am CBSSN
Army is favored by 6. I bet this game is boring.
Norfolk State at Wake Forest 12:00pm ACCNX
I don’t see a line listed but whatever it is bet against Wake covering.
Indiana State at Northwestern 12:00pm BTN
This game is an act of terrorism.
Alabama State at 25 Auburn 12:00pm SECN
Real body bag season starts today, huh?
Youngstown State at Michigan State 12:00pm BTN
The Michigan State running back is the guy I was trying to think of earlier! He’s pretty good. Not good enough to make me watch this but I will check on his stats every so often.
Tulsa at Oklahoma State 12:00pm FS1
I bet Mike Gundy has some really salient thoughts on the 20th anniversary of 9/11 and I can’t wait to hear them.
South Carolina at East Carolina 12:00pm ESPN2
South Carolina is a two point favorite against an East Carolina team that is, per my understanding, not exactly good. So I can only extrapolate that South Carolina is likewise not good.
Pitt at Tennessee 12:00pm ESPN
Look, I’m not going to pretend this is good television but if Pitt rocks their classic yellow helmets and Tennessee wears non-alternates the colors on the screen will at least be pleasing. The thought of the actual football involved hurts my brain but it’s interesting that the points have gone from a consensus pick ‘em to Pitt -3 over the course of the week. Does Tennessee have any players that are good enough that by missing the game they could impact the gambling that much? Or are people just squaring themselves with the fact the the Vols are really and truly a ruined burnt out hole of a football program? Pound the latter.
12 Oregon at 3 Ohio State 12:00pm FOX
Losing Kayvon Thibideaux certainly isn’t going to help Oregon but he’s not usually on the field as a run stopper anyway and if Ohio State learned anything last week it’s that they can just run until they feel like throwing a pass. Oregon actually has some legit talent on the d-line besides Thibideaux but the Ducks are gonna be hard-pressed to keep things within two scores here.
Miami (Ohio) at Minnesota 12:00pm ESPN
If Oregon can’t make a game of it in Columbus look out because this time block is an absolute wasteland. There is scant reason to turn the TV on for the early schedule other than gambling purposes.
Kennesaw State at Georgia Tech 12:00pm RSN/ESPN3
Georgia Tech probably should have closed up shop after Paul Johnson retired. Either that or just absolutely slathered the football program in dollars. The Yellow Jackets being unable to land any big time recruits while playing in Atlanta is a real mindfuck. They aren’t a AA program playing dress up in a “power” conference they’ve got actual history. I don’t mean to give the impression I want them to be good but I don’t understand how they can be such fodder for so long.
13 Florida at USF 1:00pm ABC
Remember that year when USF was the best program in the state? Wild stuff. Weird, wild stuff. I know the deal with UF is that they don’t go out of state for contract games but it’s actually kind of surprising they even bothered to keep this trip to Tampa on the schedule. Like the area recruits would probably be happier to go see a game at The Swamp than to kick around their hometown for a pile of shit like this.
Wyoming at NIU 1:30pm ESPN+
I’m not gonna open the ESPN app for this but if it was on ESPN2 I’d probably check in on it during commercials. Aesthetically pleasing trash with an upside for actual entertainment.
Middle Tennessee at 19 Virginia Tech 2:00pm ACCNX
Virginia Tech’s home crowd scene was the normie story of last week’s games. People that don’t watch college football were either aghast or frantically waving their blue lives matter flags in response. Us in this space just ate the shame and forgot it happened by the time Saturday’s games kicked off. My theory is that VPI is not actually any good but UNC’s 2020 season was a well-timed fluke and the last hurrah of Mack Brown’s storied coaching career. The Hokies are at home, though, and MTSU is almost certainly not on the same athletic level as the Turkey Gobblers so I’d probably take the home team -20 if I were so inclined to wager on this particular game that is being broadcast on the ACC’s new pornography channel.
Rutgers at Syracuse 2:00pm ACCN
Holy fuck does this game suck. Reuniting former Big East, uh, rivals (??? does Rutgers have any natural enemies?) in a cross-conference classic betwixt the B1G and the ACC.
Duquesne at Ohio 2:00pm ESPN3
I don’t think I need to explain to you all the national title implications riding on this game.
Toledo at 8 Notre Dame 2:30pm Peacock
Just remember that if you subscribe to Peacock you are at the very least tacitly supporting Notre Dame. If for some reason you’re watching this please report back on how many of those defensive pick plays Notre Dame runs. They were doing that shit constantly against Florida State last week and it drove me nuts. I think the idea is that you are so flagrantly illegal so often that the refs grow numb to it and just don’t call it at all.
Robert Morris at Central Michigan 3:00pm ESPN3
Not to be outdone by the early games, the 3 o’clock set is equally terrible.
Purdue at UConn 3:00pm CBSSN
I bet Edsall still gets bonuses for stupid shit even now that he’s retired or whatever the official designation was for him no longer coaching.
Boston College at UMass 3:30pm FloFootball/NESN+
I don’t know what FloFootball is but I know it isn’t anything to do with the state of Florida.
Ball State at 11 Penn State 3:30pm FS1
It surprises me to see Penn State as only -22.5 favorites. That seems very kind to Ball State. Hopefully I’m wrong and the Ball State Lettermans take it to the Sanduskys.
Murray State at 7 Cincinnati 3:30pm ESPN+
Practice week continues.
Temple at Akron 3:30pm ESPN+
Pound the under.
Georgia Southern at Florida Atlantic 3:30pm Stadium
There is really nothing going on this week.
Air Force at Navy 3:30pm CBS
Middies vs. Fly Boys in the first leg of the Commander’s Cup on the twentieth anniversary of 9/11. I can’t imagine the amount of emotional manipulation that’s going to make its way onto this broadcast. Normally I watch these games but I don’t think I can do it this year.
UAB at 2 Georgia 3:30pm ESPN2
Georgia may well be absurdly talented on the defensive side of the ball but I’d be surprised to see them make it through the regular season with fewer than two losses.
5 Texas A&M at Colorado 3:30pm FOX
This is only interesting if the Aggies spring a leak.
California at TCU 3:30pm ESPNU
Things most certainly are not looking up.
Buffalo at Nebraska 3:30pm BTN
Nebraska is in an interesting position because if they buck the odds and end up being good after we’ve all been so ready to see a National Championship-winning coach get fired that would be funny but if they end up being really bad it’s even funnier. Go Bulls!
Mercer at 1 Alabama 4:00pm SECN
I’ll cry a little if Saban pulls the starters in the first half and the Tide beats Mercer by less than they beat Miami.
South Alabama at Bowling Green 4:00pm ESPN+
10 Iowa at 9 Iowa State 4:30pmABC
This is not the kind of top 10 matchup I can just sit idly by and let it happen. Your silence is complicity in this monstrous display of modernity.
SC State at 6 Clemson 5:00pm ACCN
Clemson dropped all the way to #6 and they’ll hang around the top of the polls because they don’t have the toughest conference schedule in the world but my confidence in them is not high right now. I think the new QB is just a guy. He’s talented as hell but I don’t see him being great.
Illinois State at Western Michigan 5:00pm ESPN3
This is either MACtion or MACtion adjacent and I have only one word for this midwestern trash: abhorrent.
LIU at West Virginia 5:00pm ESPN+
LIU plays football?
Lamar at UTSA 6:00pm ESPN3
Downside: You’re watching one of the least important games of the year. Upside: You’re really not missing anything.
Portland State at Washington State 6:00pm P12N
Washington State was a perfect spot for the stupid pirate fuckhead and his leaving has ruined the program and, eventually, his reputation. Not relevant to this game necessarily but this game isn’t relevant to anything else, either.
Gardner-Webb at Charlotte 6:00pm ESPN3
Oh, yeah, feel the excitement.
Bethune-Cookman at UCF 6:30pm ESPN+
Go Cats.
NC Central at Marshall 6:30pm ESPN+
The hits keep coming.
Houston at Rice 6:30pm CBSSN
I’ve always had a soft spot for Holgo and for Houston football but somehow I really don’t like seeing him coach the Cougs. This is SWC magic but with no magic. UNLESS! Houston can put up 100. I don’t think they even have the guys to do it but this is Rice we’re talking about here.
Nicholls at Louisiana 7:00pm ESPN3
Keep the energy up.
North Texas at SMU 7:00pm ESPN+
I bet is MS621 were still alive he’d be at this game giving Spencer’s boys hell. Sadly he died doing what he loved, curing his COVID by eating ivermectin paste out of a horse’s butt. R.I.P., friend. Neigh to you wherever you are.
Southeastern La. at Louisiana Tech 7:00pm ESPN3
Even the low tier stuff is geared up for annihilation. This is a bodybag week for all time.
Memphis at Arkansas State 7:00pm ESPN+
Memphis getting less than a touchdown against Arkansas State seems like easy money but I have no real concept of either of these teams just yet. Maybe the end is nigh for the Tigers glory years? I sure hope not but it’s possible.
NC State at Mississippi State 7:00pm ESPN2
This game should be as fun as a parents funeral.
Southern Illinois at Kansas State 7:00pm ESPN+
Over the past week I experienced derision for referring the the guys in purple and silver as “Kansas State” instead of “K State” and that stung because it always surprises me that anybody cares about them enough to have a strong opinion about them.
Stephen F. Austin at Texas Tech 7:00pm ESPN+
Shrugs
15 Texas at Arkansas 7:00pm ESPN
Let’s see if Texas is ready to run with the big boys of the SEC! Arkansas is given a decent shot to win this game and that makes the “15″ next to Texas appear extremely suspect in my eyes.
Texas Southern at Baylor 7:00pm ESPN+
This week Texas Southern is the people’s champion.
Texas State at FIU 7:00pm ESPN+
Oh, Butch, why have you done this to yourself?
Western Carolina at 4 Oklahoma 7:00pm PPV
All the Westen Carolina fans are buying this PPV to see their guys score 40.
New Mexico State at New Mexico 7:00pm Stadium
I looked up the historic rivalry last year to figure out why it was played early in the season instead of at the end but I’ve forgotten and don’t feel the need to look it up again. I figured out how to watch Stadium on my TV but I also forgot that and don’t feel the need to look it up again.
Appalachian State at 22 Miami (FL) 7:00pm ESPNU
My gut tells me Miami is probably legitimately about the 14th best team in the country but I still would never advise you to bet actual money on the Hurricanes. Are they 9 points better than App State? Easily. They should win by 20+. Are they liable to fuck around and lose or scrape out a win in the final seconds? Absolutely. Let’s fuckin’ go.
Morgan State at Tulane 7:00pm ESPN+
A lot of people learned to love the Green Wave last week but it’s hard to keep that going with their schedule. Don’t forget them later in the year when the CBSSN glow is really shining.
Liberty at Troy 7:00pm ESPN+
Liberty -4 is maybe my surest advice of the week. If Malik Willis is as good as his press the fake school should have this game on ice early.
Eastern Michigan at 18 Wisconsin 7:00pm FS1
I find Wisconsin’s losing effort against Penn State last week to be a personal affront against me and all of nature.
Eastern Kentucky at Louisville 7:00pm ACCNX
I think this game being broadcast at night on ACCNX means they’re playing naked.
Grambling State at Southern Miss 7:00pm ESPN3
This is the kind of game that belongs on an app.
Hampton at Old Dominion 7:00pm ESPN3
This is the kind of game that belongs on a well-worn high school football field.
Austin Peay at 20 Mississippi 7:30pm ESPN+/SECN+
This is a pretty big OOC game for an SEC team.
Georgia State at 24 North Carolina 7:30pm RSN/ESPN3
One of several GSUs, I think this is the one I most hope emerges victorious this week.
Idaho at Indiana 7:30pm BTN
Wait, wasn’t Indiana like #10 last week? What the hell happened to them? No, don’t tell me. Seriously, don’t.
Missouri at Kentucky 7:30pm SECN
When the SEC hits 24 teams the “S!E!C!” chants are gonna seem really stupid.
Howard at Maryland 7:30pm BTN
There’s no official line for this game but I hope the Bison can pull off the upset in this classic local rivalry game.
Jacksonville State at Florida State 8:00pm ACCN
Still shaking my head at FSU icing their own kicker. Jesus, Norvell. Get your shit together.
McNeese at LSU 8:00pm ESPN+/SECN+
LOLSU was my lock of the week last week if you’re considering taking gambling advice from me.
Washington at Michigan 8:00pm ABC
UDub lost to a 1-AA team last week and now they have to go on the road and beat Michigan. Which seems inevitable, to be honest.
Cal Poly at Fresno State 10:00pm CW59
The murder rate will continue to increase as the day progresses. I always kind of like it when a local broadcast shows up on the sheet. So pretty much none of us have legal access to this game. It makes it more special.
San Diego State at Arizona 10:00pm P12N
Pac-12 Network is similar to CW59 in that almost nobody in the country has legal access to their broadcasts. If you’ve read enough of these posts you are aware that SDSU is my weird very deep backup team. I don’t have a reason to align myself with the school or program, I just tend to enjoy watching their games.
Vanderbilt at Colorado State 10:00pm CBSSN
This is an abomination.
21 Utah at BYU 10:15pm ESPN
This is a lowkey fun rivalry. I’m pretty sure I write the same thing every year but it’s still true. Go Utes.
Stanford at 14 USC 10:30pm FOX
I think USC could win a national championship and I’d still be baffled that Clay Helton is their coach. Of course, they won’t win a national championship as long as Clay Helton is their coach but they apparently won’t ever get embarrassing enough to fire him, either.
Idaho State at Nevada 10:30pm Stadium
This is the lowpoint of the week’s schedule and you have to stay up late to watch it on a network that only exists as an app or as part of a hidden unlockable download-only level of cable subscription. This is the beauty of the college game.
UNLV at 23 Arizona State 10:30pm ESPN2
Herm Edwards figured out the trick to looking good in the Pac-12 without having a particularly great team and I can’t make up my mind if I’m rooting for him to keep sliding on that rail or to fall off it. I think I’ve come around to rooting for him but it’s a very dynamic and fluid situation.
Hawaii at Oregon State 11:00pm FS1
Hawaii gets to play at their normal time for a game against the bottom of the barrel of the Pac-12 but they’re an 11-point underdog. If you’re ever going to take Hawaii, this is the stars lining up for you to do it. It’s still a big “if” but I’m saying there’s a chance.

Sugar Bowl
Justin Fields x Reader
Requested: yes
Warnings: none. Just fluff.
•
Today’s the day, the day the Buckeyes are playing in the Sugar Bowl against Clemson. You and Justin got up and got ready for the day and went on a lunch date before he had to got to the field. The game was going great and the Buckeyes are winning. With 6 minutes left of the second quarter, Justin couldn’t find someone open so he took it upon himself to run it and try to score. You get really nervous when he does that because you’re afraid of him getting hurt. As he did that, one of Clemsons guys hit Justin right in the left side of his ribs head on with his helmet. Justin dropped to the ground in pain because of how hard he was hit. Your heart dropped and you wanted to jump down on the feild and be by his side. You knew he was hurting really bad. He was out for a couple plays and went back in after. “Why is he going back in? Do they realize he’s hurt?” You ask yourself. Every time he threw the ball, you can see that he’s in a lot of pain. He kept holding onto his side throughout the game whenever he came to the sidelines. When he came off the field, he locked eyes with you in the stands. He knew what you were thinking so he gave you a smile in a way of saying “I’m fine.” when you knew in reality he wasn’t. You shook your head at him and smiled back and he knew that you knew that he wasn’t okay and his ribs were killing him. After the game ended and the Buckeyes killed Clemson, you met up with Justin at the locker room. You helped him the best you could out to the car. “Why did you go back out after you got hit?” You asked him worried. It took him a minute to answer. “Because baby, they needed me. Everyone is relying on me and no matter how bad I am hurting. I had to go back out there.” He said. You hit the back of your head against the head rest. “Babe. You still have other quarterbacks that will cover for you. I was worried sick about you and I could tell by the look on your face that your in so much pain.” You say. “I appreciate it baby. I just couldn’t let my team down.” He says. “I just want what’s best for you honey. Now let’s get you home and heal you.” You say smiling at him. You drive you guys home. As soon as you guys got home, you helped him inside and took him over to the couch then went to get an ice pack from the freezer for him so he can put it on his ribs. “Thank you for taking care of me baby. I love you so much.” He says. “That’s what I’m here for. I knew what I was signing up for when I said yes to dating you. I love you more.” You say giving him a kiss. When he was done icing his ribs for now, you gave him some painkillers and a gatorade. You’re just happy he’s okay and hoping he’s better before they play against Alabama.

Alabama: 2020 College Football Playoff National Champions
No. 1 Alabama has returned to the top of the college football mountain, rolling to the 18th national title in program history with a dominant 52-24 win over No. 3 Ohio State in the 2021 College Football Playoff National Championship. Undefeated at 13-0 and unchallenged through much of the season, the Crimson Tide put themselves in a special light even among the program's six national championship-winning teams to play for Nick Saban.
The departures of multiple stars put the spotlight on an offense that had plenty to replace, but quarterback Mac Jones, running back Najee Harris and especially Heisman Trophy-winning wide receiver Devonta Smith more than answered the call as they led one of the best offenses in Alabama history and showed out for the biggest game of the year with 621 yards of total offense. Their 52 points are the most ever scored by Alabama in a national title game and the most in a Crimson Tide bowl game since 1953.
Smith was nearly unstoppable, pulling in 12 catches on his first 13 targets for 215 yards and three touchdowns before leaving the game with a hand injury. Jones got banged up a little bit as well but still finished with 464 yards and five touchdowns on 36-of-45 passing.
Harris, who like Smith was one of the few current Alabama players to be on the team during its last national title run, was an all-purpose machine with 178 yards from scrimmage (79 rushing, 79 receiving) and three total touchdowns.
Ohio State entered the game with a chip on its shoulder fermented through weeks of doubt regarding its status as one of the best teams in the country. Playing less games than those in the ACC and SEC brought out plenty of criticism and nitpicking from the Buckeyes' body of work, but most of those questions were silenced in a dominant win against Clemson in the Sugar Bowl semifinal to book a spot in Monday night's title game. There were notable setbacks, like starting running back Trey Sermon leaving the game after one drive with an injury and having numerous players unavailable (some a result of COVID-19 protocol), but the lopsided result was more a reflection of Alabama's distance from the rest of the sport int his 2020 season.
Keep on reading for takeaways from the 2021 CFP National Championship.
1. Ohio State's absences were notable, not game-changing Even prior to Sermon's injury, the Buckeyes had starting nose tackle Tommy Togiai, starting defensive end Tyreke Smith and starting kicker Blake Haubeil among the 13 players listed as out on their availability report. Having two starting defensive linemen wouldn't have helped the mismatches Alabama offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian drew up for Smith in the first half, but those are key pieces to what has been an elite run defense and important bodies in a rotation that was needed as Alabama's play count continued to tick up in the second half.
Sermon, who had set a school record with more than 500 rushing yards across two outings in the Big Ten Championship Game and the Sugar Bowl, suffering an injury in the first quarter and was unable to reenter the game. His replacement, Master Teague, was strong enough though, scoring two touchdowns.
The final total may not reflect it, but this was a two-score game midway through the third quarter and could have been a terrific comeback if the Buckeyes could get some stops. A couple Tide touchdowns later, the rout was back on and the result was not in doubt.
2. The 2020 Tide join the debate for best team ever One year after Joe Burrow and LSU made all of college football wonder where the Tigers ranked among the best offenses and best teams in college football history, Alabama has immediately added an entry into that debate. The season totals won't match the Tigers with three less games, but the averages and accolades are comparable.
Smith has been unique in ways that may exceed a team-wide comparison, but so was Burrow during his similarly transcendent season. The two teams will be debated and compared for years to come, but what follows will be a tiebreaker for fans in the SEC West. Alabama may see an NFL Draft exodus on par with LSU's a year ago -- it is similarly losing a top offensive coach with Sarkisian off to Texas -- but it would be out of character to see a significant step back following this return to the top of the sport. Saban has embraced modern offense and winning by overwhelming your opponent with skill position talent. When the greatest coach in college football history has gone all in on innovation, that's a wrap for pretty much everyone else in the sport for a few years.
3. Ohio State leaving points on the board may have cost it Of the many "what-ifs" for Ohio State fans will be a few situational decisions by the Buckeyes during the Alabama onslaught that was the first half. Ohio State punted from the Alabama 44-yard line down 14-7 early in the second quarter, but it was bailed out by Jones' subsequent fumble, giving the Buckeyes an opportunity to score anyway. Later, they settled for a field goal from the 6-yard line at the end of a nine-play drive instead of going for a game-tying touchdown. Following that, Ohio State had back-to-back three-and-outs before finishing the half by running out the clock.
The lack of stops by the Buckeyes defense combined with Smith's incredible first-half stat line dominated the conversation, but there were points where it seemed like Ohio State could have taken a few more risks offensively and been in a better position when it mounted a comeback effort in the third quarter.
4. A record-setting evening Alabama finished out the season averaging 48.5 points per game, the most in SEC history, and Smith rounded out SEC records for the most receiving yards and receiving touchdowns in a single season along with the SEC career receiving yards record. Jones not only holds several Alabama records already but after the game he solidified a new FBS record for completion percentage (77.4%) and his 464 passing yards are the most in a championship game in the BCS/CFP era. Adding to the ridiculous records to either be extended or fall tonight was Najee Harris tying the SEC record for most career touchdowns (57) and setting the new single-season touchdowns mark (30).
Perhaps even more impressive is that Nick Saban now holds the solo record for most national championships in the poll era, and the fact that of those seven title-winning teams only two were undefeated at the end of the year. The first was 2009, his first title with the Tide, and the other is the 2020 team that re-claimed the crown Monday night. This was a special team and its mark will be left on Alabama, and college football, forever.

College Football Week 11 Recap
Week 11 featured one of the top 4 teams playing, no ranked match-ups, or any crazy upsets. As most would say, it was an average day of college football, but we all know that there isn’t ever an average day of college football, there are always that statistics that stand out the most or the team that impresses or disappoints. So, let’s get into it and see what all went down in a quick week 11 review
1. SEC teams show the world they aren’t only good at defenses: The Southeastern Conference for the past couple years has been known for having solid defensive teams over the years, with Alabama, Florida, LSU, and Auburn all having top 10 defensive units in the country for the last 5 years. But hey, it is 2020 and things are suppose to be whacky, and they are here. None of these teams are on track for a top 10 defense, but instead some teams in the conference are flexing muscles on the offensive side of the ball. We saw the Florida Gators lead by Heisman hopeful Kyle Trask put up 593 yards of total offense, and 385 and 6 touchdowns coming from Track himself. Florida has always had a shaky offense, but this year, head coach Dan Mullen has gotten his offensive staff on point and now have one of the most dangerous offenses in college football. Another surprise was Ole Miss showing us they know how to play offense as they put up 59 points and a school record 708 yards of offense against a bad USC defense. Watching this team beat up on the gamecocks just was really a unique sight, as I haven’t seen a team click so much and so consistently was really cool. I hope both teams keep it up the rest of the season.
2. Notre Dame takes down Boston College: I mean I have to do a Notre Dame review, they’re my team! Going into this match up after the huge victory over Clemson had me worried. Last time Notre Dame beat a #1 team was in 1993, and they went and lost the following week, to who? To the Eagles of Boston College. after going down 10-3, Notre Dame stepped it up and outscored the eagles 42-21 the rest of the game. This game wasn’t as close as the score indicates, as the Irish put up 557 yards of offense and played a very solid ball game. BC also scored couple garbage time touchdowns, but don’t get me wrong, Boston College did play a great game, they have a solid QB and a new young coach in Jeff Haufly who I think can turn around this program. Also, that QB at BC, was the back up to Ian Book, and he came in wanting revenge, as he said in a pregame interview the Irish program, “Didn’t give him a fair chance, I was just as good as Ian and wanted to compete for the job.” Lol ok kid maybe next year. But under armor made sweet BC jerseys for the game, click the link to see, as the Eagles honor those who gave up their lives on 9/11.

3. Covid-19 Please go away!: As Coronavirus cases have spiked across the country, it also shut down and cancelled football games. Alabama, Ohio State, Auburn, Georgia, and other Power 5 teams had to delay their games due to breakouts of the virus in teams programs and locker rooms. As much as it stinks not seeing these teams play, it is for the best, as the bigger picture is more important, especially with this deadly virus like Covid
