These children kept a one year old alive for over a month after a plane-crash.
Four Indigenous children survived an Amazon plane crash that killed three adults and then braved the jungle for 40 days before being found alive by Colombian soldiers — bringing a happy ending to a search-and-rescue saga that captivated a nation and forced the usually opposing military and Indigenous people to work together. Cassava flour and some familiarity with the rainforest's fruits were key to the children's extraordinary survival in an area where snakes, mosquitoes and other animals abound. The members of the Huitoto people — aged 13, 9 and 4 years and 11 months — are expected to remain for a minimum of two weeks at a hospital in Bogota, Colombia, receiving treatment after their rescue on Friday.

1914 silent film. wow! OK, I'm sorry I missed this screening.
"A remarkable portrait of the Kwakwaka’wakw (formerly Kwakiutl) people of northern Vancouver Island and the central coast, In the Land of the Head Hunters was the first feature film made in B.C. and is the oldest extant feature made in Canada. It’s also the first feature made with an entirely Indigenous North American cast. Directed by Edward S. Curtis, the renowned American photographer of First Nations life, the film mixes documentary and dramatic elements, recording authentic traditions and rituals, including the potlatch ceremony, but also offering an epic tale of love, war, and adventure set in pre-European times. It premiered in New York and Seattle in December 1914. This beautiful DCP restoration includes John J. Branham’s original 1914 score performed by Vancouver’s Turning Point Ensemble."

Call to Action
Dear allies,
The images published by the Narwhal this week are nothing short of heartbreaking. So I will be brief.
I am sad and furious that this has been allowed to happen. I want people to call the “regulators” who have been deliberately asleep at the wheel.
Our Sacred headwaters, The Wedzinkwa river that we drink from, shows up muddy which should be clear! This is devastating and unacceptable!
Pipeline construction work drowned in a wetland used by salmon, a food that has fed our people for well beyond thousands of years.
But three individuals have the power to stop this work immediately. I have had my allied team set up this link so you can call them. CALL THEM NOW PLEASE!!!
We have warned this would happen forever. We were ignored.
We will never tire of speaking our truth. This river is a part of us. The Land is a part of us.
CGL has proven reckless and violent. They do not care!
Please click this link to call the ministers who have the power to stop this now!!
The work continues on the Wet’suwet’en struggle for autonomy. We thank you for your ongoing support.
Standby for more…
Eve
*** this will take you to an Autodialer Phone Train- which connects you to the voicemail of the relevant 'authorities'. have a script ready
