Leaving on a jet plane… back to Chicago then Milwaukee by car. The vacation was a much-needed break in my routine. At the same time I am anxious to get back into a routine. Funny how that works. I like to travel but when I am done, I am done. I love my home and could never be a gypsy or constant world-traveler. We had a great time enjoying the weather at the beach, at the pool, exploring the history of downtown Charleston and even getting hooked on Charleston’s newest claim-to-fame, Reckless – a horrible drama on CBS that’s only saving grace is that it is filmed in the city and you can catch a glimpse of the great sights every now and again. And I guess it is more palatable than their other show, Southern Charm. Anyway, below are a few photos from the trip:
This is my little ghost crab I affectionately named Herman. He was busy digging out his little hole and allowed me to sit and watch for about an hour until some kid walked right over all his hard work and scared him away. Damn kids!
Me and the bestie spending a morning at the beach.
So the College of Charleston is supposed to be the backdrop for this one but apparently our arms aren't long enough to get the building in the shot. Trust me it is there and beautiful!
My aunt and I hanging out at Stars Rooftop bar for a belated birthday celebration for her.
And a beach selfie. This is my happy place (well besides the rows of grapes in Napa). Who doesn't love the OCEAN?!?!
Last week I talked about how I have changed, and yes I tend to concentrate on the changes I have made in my exercise habits (as in, I HAVE to exercise just about every day or I go crazy). Vacation brought another pleasant surprise as we ended up joining a gym for the week to make sure that daily exercise happened (never. In. my wildest. Imagination. could I have imagined joining a gym on vacation, but I did it). It was great and in the process, I found a new song I can’t listen to without running/sprinting. I love it and I can’t stop. I heard it driving and almost had to pull over (ok, not really) And if you have been reading this blog for a while you know how much I enjoy the music of One Republic, so that helps too. Anyway, I recommend this little number get added to your playlist – Love Runs Out, One Republic – which also brings today’s lyrics:
Oh, we all want the same thing. Oh, we all run for something. run for God, for fate, For love, for hate, For gold, for rust, For diamonds, for dust. I'll be your light, your match, your burning sun, I'll be the bright, in black that's makin' you run.
