the crux of tommys friend quest still being about feelings of inadequancy in his religion but - even though hes aroace too bc like cmon - he feels like he cant be strong enough. hes not the perfect selfless hero everyone wants, he struggles finding quests he can actually finish he doesnt Know if hes ever going to be the hero Wilbur, and everyone with him, suggests for him to be. But hes been nothing but an annoying child forever and he needs to change right? To Change? Thats the whole point of the thing! But leaving out his stupid bits and jokes and trying to put on a serious saviour persona makes him feel like hes loosing more and more of himself the more time passes by.

techno still struggles with identity. Hes never been able to feel accepted in his home country - the Antartic Empire isnt strict with most thing, the idea of absolute freedom is clear in everyones mind, but "one's freedom ends where another's start", and many saw technos illness (/expression possession/ancient divinity speaking through him, he still isnt sure) as dangerous. as an infriction of their own freedom to feel safe. But Lmanburg... people speak of lmanburg, and phil speaks of it highest of them all. His sons country, his sons faith. Techno isnt one to fall for pretty words, but he cant deny they sound... appealing. The acceptance, the unconditional love, the community.He hopes his research might bring him closer to understanding it all. To not feel foreign in every land.

Niki, for all that anyone might think, is Not a child. Shes small, and shes not strong, and she can barely Craft anything - all this time and no one has figured out her type yet, no matter how hard they try - but goddammit, she isnt a useless little baby. She has a voice, she has her strenght, she Has the abikity to protect those she loved, even if she failed before. Jacks frozen face stares at her, even from hundred of miles away, back in their little house. She looks at tommy and she cant really understand why Hes been chosen and not her, what really makes them so different, what makes her so much crabbing worse that shes not even allowed to hold her own against the simplest sadness. Nad then she tries, and Ranboo loses an eye. A whole eye, just because in her stupid crabbing arrogance she thought she could be more than her place, more than the job she was assigned. She needs to protect them better. She just needs to get stronger.

Tubbo, all things considered, doesnt think hes doing badly. Theres a bit of resentment in his heart - like jesus, when hed joined the Hunters he really thought they were there to Do something about the evil in the world. But they didnt, and tommy really evidently needed help, and he doesnt hang around cowards anymore, so he left. Whatever. Hes fought so hard in his life to be taken seriously (little, cute baby tubbo, a shirt too big for his frame and a smile always too wide for his face. Do you like bees, tubbo? Do you want to go find bees? they talk to him with sickeningly sweet voices and dumbed out words) (he ignores every bee he sees, lately), hes Changed, hes bulked up, hes leaned heavy onto the crazy strongman archetype until nobody could ever look at him and see a "cute little guy". He wants them to be scared, he wants to cackle so loud mothers hurry their children away, he wants to know tidbits of the darkest parts of the world, to talk about bombs and dissections and whatever Will keep people the most away from his true feelings. Tommy doesnt seem disgusted when he tugs him along on his quest (in fact, he seems to enjoy your humor as well, and hes very quick to become your friend).

With ranboo its. Different. Not that hes put off by you or anything - none of them are, surprisingly, you get along real nicely as a group - in fact, they lean into it. Theyre super quick to pull up one of their favorite horror stories while you eat yoir dinners, for you to enjoy and for niki and tommy to be grossed out by and for techno to barely react at, and they love your particular dark, ceass humor even id they dont participate themselves. They just have this. Super annoying thing about them, that makes tubbo want to Change again. Want to bring back that vulnerability, that cuteness, the bees and the flowers and the weaknesses that have hurt him before. Tubbo wouldve loved to be a farmer, once. A little cabin in the countryside, selling honey to the nearest House. But it doesnt matter. Hes never going to say anything about it anyway - talking about these things feels. so weird.

"...Who are you?" Her question was hesitant, almost as if she were afraid to hear his answer. It wasn't often there was new face seen around the corridors, so the male's appearance was quite a surprise to her. He felt familiar for some reason, as if she'd met him before. But, perhaps that was his white hair fooling her into thinking he could somehow be related to Shinya.

Word travels fast, especially rumors about a spirit being seeing dancing on the lake in broad daylight. A group of fishermen discussing what they'd supposedly seen at the local bar after having been brushed off by the local paper. Just "senile old men telling stories again" as they said before chasing the group out.

However rumors such as these were the reason this town had any visitors, tourist intent on finding the supposed "blue spirit" that called the mountainous forests home.

Which, is why a hand suddenly slams on their table. A well built woman gazing down at the group, who go dead silent under her gaze.

😈 — She had all the groceries she needed for tonight's dinner, right? She had the pickled ginger, the green onion, the tenkasu, the takoyaki sauce, the katsuobushi, the aonori, the dashi, and everything needed to make the batter. Though it felt like she was missing something. Something very important. Yet she couldn't seem to put her finger on it no matter how much she thought about it. Hence why she decided that it would be best if she just went ahead and asked Kiwa if she might know what it was that she was missing. After all, Tamaki loved takoyaki and in order to do so, she had to make sure that she had absolutely everything needed.

😈 — "Kiwi, darling," she turns to face the other as she tilts her head with a cheerful (yet idiotic) smile present on her face, "do you happen to remember what else I need to make Maki's favorite dish? I feel as if I'm missing something important." Shifting the bag from her forearm to her right hand, she carefully opens the plastic and looks down into the opening while also showing Kiwa what was already held inside. "Yukio expects me to be home with the groceries before Maki gets home from his outing with Mirio and Nejire, especially since he's been taking care of the house while we've been out." Sending Hitomi to do tasks on her own was always a disaster in the making given how absolutely forgetful she was. One time she even got lost trying to make her way down the block to fetch some medicine for Tamaki when he was ten years old, it took her over two hours to make her way back home and the path to the drug store and back was a straight shot.

😈 — "I'm certain that Yukio and Maki would love to have you join us for dinner though! I know that you're always so very supportive of Maki whenever he's in your class and I heard that you're close with Taishiro as well so I think it'd be absolutely perfect~." Granted she wasn't aware of the fact Kiwa and Fatgum were somewhat involved with one another, or at least she pretended to not be aware anyway. Besides, Yukio had never been the type to tell Hitomi what she could and couldn't do (though that was mainly due to the fact that Hitomi had been the aggressor in their relationship before Tamaki was born).

𖤐  ⸻  Despite the temporary safety that Daryl's offered tent provides him with, Peter does not sleep soundly.

It's nothing to do with his conditions; as far as they go, this is probably the most comfortable he's been in a WHILE. Between nestling his way into thin caverns and sleeping in the branches of trees to avoid the dead while sleeping, simply being able to lay perfectly horizontally with his limbs all stretched out is a luxury that he'd largely forgotten. No, it isn't the conditions; it isn't even the PEOPLE, as distrustful as they are of him. Their distaste may sting, but he knows it to be necessary. He's seen what happens when leaders don't choose their people carefully.

      Instead, the problem lies in his mind.

Ignoring the internal goading is one thing— he's accustomed to that now, it comes as easily as breathing— but the persistent WORRY now that he's unwittingly dragged a potential community into his mess is relentless As if he didn't have enough to regret with his family.

When Daryl pokes his head in and tells him to come, Peter does so without argument. The last thing he needs is to make ENEMIES of these people. They've already done more for him than they should have, Dixon most of all, and he'd been prepared for this moment ( being cast out, having to meet this scary-sounding 'Rick' fella, the list goes on ) since he was allowed to crash.

What he ISN'T prepared for is catching a familiar coat out of the corner of his eye. A breath hitches in his throat as he stops still, bearing witness to a little group of people on the external side of the fence standing around talking. He recognises the attire instantly— or specifically, the bright MARIGOLD RIBBON tied around the man's waist like a belt as he diplomatically speaks with who Peter presumes are some of this place's 'higher-ups'.

          It doesn't take long for Daryl to realise he's stopped. To follow his gaze.

❛ We mean you no harm. We've simply come to collect what is ours. We believe he ran this way. We tracked him through the woods and wound up here. ❜ The man's voice is polite, gentle, hands folded neatly in front of him as he speaks. Though he has not come alone, his own brigade of people stand several feet back, visibly unarmed and not interjecting. ❛ He is of great significance, but I'm afraid he can be quite the tyke. He... ❜

Daryl and Peter's jog to the gate carries them near enough to hear— and near enough for the stranger to take notice of the man in front, his true target conveniently hidden behind him. He stares at him unblinkingly for a couple of seconds before he clicks his tongue and nods his head, smiling softly.

..okay I can’t help myself so here are some Antares design notes to follow on from last night:

Her main colour is the teal I’ve used here for two reasons. One is that Antares directly translates to “rival/enemy of Ares”, with Ares being the ancient Greek god of war (to the Romans, Mars); the IRL star is named this because it is also red and appears bright enough that it can be mistaken for the planet Mars, but I thought it would be neat to instead make her colour scheme the opposite of red, so near green (because rivals). However, it’s specifically this teal because it’s the colour of a certain other Team Meteor member - namely, Absolute. (Whose perhaps-more-familiar real name is Lin.)

I tested a number of different eye colours for her, including red (like the IRL star as said above), purple, gold, and the teal seen in the rest of this outfit (but it was perhaps a bit too same-y given how I made the outfit here). I think the grey works well, though - I’m just not 100% set on it.

Her hairstyle might seem a bit odd - her overall look is very sporty and not overly feminine but then her hair is half-up in twin plaits with bun things at the top? Well, that’s because Antares’ hairstyle here is the one I originally tried to use for Adriana. Except the fringe looks different because of her goggles and hairband. =3

(I know my other self-insert Nova also has this same hairband, and it was a pain to work around on her reference model, so I might not actually keep it on Antares’ - but it fits her vibes well, I think. She is kind of similar to Nova personality-wise anyway, if perhaps to a worse extent.)

Regarding her outfit, there are a fair few things to say. I think I started with the scarf and a sleeveless top - I don’t think a single other Team Meteor member has their shoulders out, so this detail is an easy way to make Antares stand out. However, the scarf and the elbow things help make the outfit less outright summery, which I think is good.

I had wanted to try and incorporate the Team Meteor logo - a red M - somewhere in her outfit, but that wasn’t really feasible in the constraints of this creator. Maybe it’s on the back of her top or something. You might be wondering why she isn’t just wearing an actual Team Meteor uniform, but this is because she is me and I can do whatever I want to, I’ve decided =P

I think I will change the shoes, because the ones I picked out on the creator make her look a bit too “normal Trainer”-y and not as “evil team member”-y. Other than that, though, I think the accessory details work well, though I might add some more details to the actual main clothes because they’re Very Plain right now.

Finally, this is actually not at all how I was originally intending her to look/dress. My first plan was to play off of the concept of a “joker”, since.. well, Ace represents the four card suits and thus the rest of the deck. But I couldn’t really envision how to do that in a way that still made Antares feel like me, so I went with more of a contrasting modern/sleek vibe instead of trying to match/complement their style.

..I should really try to make Adriana in this creator at some point, just to have a more direct comparison of the two (because that’s just fun, especially in this specific instance given the lore). Having said that, though, I can also just do it once/if I start trying to put together a reference model for Antares in MMD, given that Adriana has one.

Anyway, though, thank you to everyone who has read all of this. And for generally putting up with whatever this nonsense is. I at least am having fun despite the lingering bafflement.
