How does chara feel about the genocide run? They look honest to god traumatized on those two panels

You answered your question yourself anon.

Chara goes along with the Player as the Player shows them LOVE. So Chara encourages the Player to keep going. They start counting how many are left for them. LOVE does a number on you the more of it you gain. After the reset, they realized what happened and how lost they got in it. In those two panels they probably were taken back to a long time ago... Remember this?

One trope that I'm such a sucker for is the one where the godlike, near-omnipotent "villain" is actually just a scared, traumatized, good-at-heart if however deeply flawed person that ended up doing bad things because of terrible experiences.

What makes these character so compelling is how their powerful state contrasts with the powerlessness of their situation. They are all good people, and yet thanks to the pain, suffering, and trauma they both witnessed and endured, coupled with the power they obtained, left them with a distorted and severely warped on how to be free of it.

Viktor wanted to remove people's ability to act and think for themselves because his experiences in Piltover and Zaun convinced him that taking them away would stop everyone from destroying each other and themselves.

The Collector took over the world and turned everyone into puppets, but only so nothing and no one could get between them and their best friend King, the last member of a proud race that was exterminated by their own siblings.

Asriel and Chara were two misguided but well-meaning children who, because of the horrible things they endured, became convinced that the only way to create a world where nothing could hurt them anymore was to achieve absolute power and erase everyone who got in the way of achieving that power.

It's no wonder I'm such a huge fan of all three of these fantastic pieces of media.

I understand that it's most likely Kris's shirt (Chara's shirt doesn't have stripes on the sleeves) But... The description mentions love too much for something meant to be Kris's (if it was about Kris only, it would have more words about Light, wouldn't it?)

Cocoapowder is so funny to me because I can DISTINCTLY imagine the horror on Chara's face as they realize they not only caught feelings (something I'm sure they're scared of already) but for Clover of all people (embarrassing) (they'd prefer to just die again) and I appreciate you helping me realize this with your art

cocoapowder in any context is a funny ship dynamic to think about, you got this kid that has convinced themselves all their life that humans are the worst thing to ever happen

and then you get this other kid, who's love for humanity shows

i feel like chara would be throughly in denial at first, since by catching feelings for clover their whole world view falls appart, this whole narrative they'd created about humans being all rotten to the core was wrong

they're wrong about humanity, thus, they're wrong about themselves

accepting they have feelings for clover(or any human for that matter) is accepting there's good in them

I noticed Darkner Chara and Lesslo have a similarity in their color palettes, was that intentional or no? I know that Chara's palette was based on something else but maybe Lesslo was designed later and purposefully given similar colors-

Could make for some really nice metaphors, since from what I recall Chara's death played a pretty important part in Toriel and Asgore's divorce in Undertale, what with it indirectly causing Asgore to even start killing the human children, no?

So, Lesslo was designed WAY later than Chara's Dark World form. BUT the similarities between Lesslo and Chara are intentional. Remember that this Dark World was created THROUGH Flowey. As a wedding ring, Lesslo is a representation of Deltarune Agore and Toriel's divorce. He takes on traits of both Flowey (behavior) and Chara (appearance) because of that reason. The event of both Chara and Asriel's death and the resulting decision of Undertale Asgore to collect the human souls was what caused Toriel to leave him. And that carried over into this Dark World.

But not only that, Lesslo is also partially based on a satyr (not a devil). In Greek mythology a satyr is a creature with a human's body and a goat's legs. He is a mirror of what Deltarune Asgore left behind in the divorce: namely his children. Kris (a human) and Asriel (a goat like monster)
