Petrobras Pioneers Rio de Janeiro's Green Revolution

  A Sustainable Vision Unveiled

In a historic move at COP-28, Petrobras and the Government of Rio de Janeiro ink a landmark protocol. The focus? A joint exploration into CO2 capture and storage (CCUS) initiatives, coupled with low-carbon hydrogen solutions.   Nurturing the Green Ambition With an initial plan to store 100,000 tons of CO2 yearly, Petrobras has set its sights on a CCUS pilot project in the north of Rio de Janeiro. The Cabiúnas Gas Treatment Unit will play a pivotal role, providing a stream of CO2 for treatment and transportation to the Barra do Furado Station.   Rio de Janeiro: The Future Hub The pilot project's success will pave the way for a full-scale CCUS hub in Rio de Janeiro. Petrobras envisions this hub not only mitigating its emissions but also extending its environmental impact to other sectors, including cement and steel.
