thumb gently pressed against the back of helaena's hand , right below her thumb ; a light pressure that soon dragged in a slow , circular motion against soft , fair skin - purposeful yet idle all in one , something sought out to do yet feeling like second nature ; rhaenyra was always fond of physical contact , how it was the easiest in all of the languages to say : i'm here , you're here . we are no longer alone as long as our skin connects .  the easiest form of expression , while the targaryen tongue was a trait possessed , knowing what to say in any situation . the words could often weigh heavy on the mind , soul &. spirit -  it was always better to leave such at the door , especially in moments like these , in moments where they weren't needed at all .
the fire grazes across her own skin comfortably ; revealing in the heat that it is gifted . the restless flickering , the powerful orange &. red that urged to break past the controlled burn was the same energy that flowed through their blood , eating them alive until there was nothing left but the destructive aftermath . though fire was many things ; destructive , violent - devouring anything in its path . . . that was merely part of it .   what was failed to be acknowledge is how misunderstood it was : fire was also familiarity , the element that brings people together to tell stories &. laugh beside it - it was the feeling of walking in your home from a long day &. instantly being eloped in comfort ; it was the slow relaxing muscles &. heavy lids as it soothed you into sleep ; it was the element that made people feel lighter .
the latter is something the targaryens sometimes missed out on for violence &. chaos is all they know . helaena , however , wasn't tainted in the same way she was - thank the gods for that - rhaenyra believes she's the perfect embodiment of the purer side of what it means to be born in flames ; not the part that's so feared , but to be welcomed with opened arms .
❛ oh , that wont do at all ❜ rhaenyra tuts , the gentle smile gracing lips never leaving - why would it ?   ❛   if you want company - how about tomorrow afternoon we hunt down the right thread together ? not being able to immortalize the poor thing seems like a sin  ❜ there's no mockery or teasing , in fact , rhaenyra even might feel a little excited to be able to do something other than her duties that have trapped her in recent years ; an afternoon with helaena was far more enjoyable  ❛ perhaps you could even show me how you embryoid the wings - i've never been very good at such things, needle &. thread is an art that eludes me .  ❜
Tumblr media
There was a terrible falling, a plummeting towards the ravenous sea below them. The waves churned angrily in a storm. No, no that wasn't right. They were standing by the fireplace, her and Rhaenyra. Her half sister's face was illuminated by the flames and Helaena was reminded (not for the first time) that a Targaryen looked best in firelight, in the same way that others looked enchanting by the light of the moon. Of course, the princess needed no firelight to shine, as her face naturally exuded her strength and charisma. Helaena didn't shine like her older sister, but then again, no one really did, except maybe Aemond. It was something in her countenance, a certain ineffable quality that few possessed.
She smiled at the other woman's outstretched hand and placed slender fingers in her palm. It would be nice to sit together here, side by side, and warm up a bit. The wind was so bitterly cold, and the rain stung her face like a hundred needles. Only it wasn't just rain falling from the sky-- there was so much blood! But where was it coming from? She couldn't say, it was so hard to see. The sky bore down on them without mercy, and somewhere, distantly, she thought she could hear her brother's voice.
There was no blood, no rain or wind, nor was there a sea. She was perfectly safe, sitting with her sister. The fire crackled before them and Helaena blinked and tried to smile. She looked to Rhaenyra for comfort, for reassurance, for stability. Her sister was unbothered, her hair dry and perfect. She was warm and kind and bright. She didn't deserve so much grief.
"I found an ant with wings today," Helaena said. "I thought I might embroider it, only I haven't the right color thread." The rain seemed further away now. She could hear crickets outside the window. Maybe there had never been any rain at all. She gave Rhaenyra's hand a gentle squeeze. Ants were a much happier subject than drowning. "It's difficult to get the wings just right-- because of the texture," she explained.

Current Targaryen Rulers of the Seven Kingdoms
Queen Regent Alicent Hightower
With lighter competition for the throne, Alicent was not made to marry off her only daughter at the age of 14. Alicent allowed her daughter to grow up as a unmarried lady in the court of the Red Keep, as she had always dreamed of. It was Queen Alicent's idea to flood the Keep with nobles from all over the known realm, a decree that any second son and noble merchant with a marriageable, noble, lady or son would be allowed to live within the walls. The Red Keep quickly became one of the centers of the world's society.
King Viserys Targaryen — lives 5-10 years longer to age up everyone
(This one is more silly, and to spice things up. I’ve been thinking about Ancient Rome lately…my true Roman Empire rip) Why not have a little fun with it? Everyone hates this man, why not give them a reason to really hate him. Dragons have been hatching at an alarming rate, after Viserys recruited blood mages from Asshai into their service. The dragons are hatching, but are malformed and unable to fly, some even unable to walk, crawling on their bellies like Wyrms. What's a king to do? With so many nobles to entertain, thus the Coliseum was born, a giant arena in the expanded parts of King's Landing, home to gladiator battles of epic proportions. Flanked with its own dragon pits, fighters from all over the world test their skill against the deformed beasts, for the enjoyment of all. You don't think the gods will have a problem with that, do you? Many have profited off of his fighting pits, better parlors have become popular destinations, giant Targaryen banners fly over the Coliseum on days of fighting. The fighting pits are used as a way to cull the massive crowds of the capitol city. With so many nobles at the Keep, King's Landing has become overcrowded with everyone trying to make it in the world. The city is practically bursting at the seems, and new constructions are always expanding the lands around the gates.

Princess Royal Rhaenyra Targaryen
The heir to the Iron Throne, by order of King Viserys. Does it matter that she was named before the birth of his first born son? Not in her mind. This is a new world, they will accept her, or they will burn. She will start a war for the throne, not because she must, but because she can. There will be no question of her right to rule. I love the idea of Rhaenyra owning all her actions, if men can have scored of noble bastards at court, why couldn't she? I love the idea of her children while married to Laenor were known bastards, Rhaenyra always claiming they will be legitimized once she is crowned queen and I even love the idea more if King Viserys publicly legitimized them during his reign.
Ser Laenor Velaryon — "RIP"
While bastards can be legitimized, double marriages could not be. In my personal favorite version of magic users, there is always one way to rid yourself of magic (if you aren't born with in inherently, to get technical lol). If someone knowing, willingly, and earnestly gives up their magic for something better, the magic will allow you to part. The main feature of this bug, is living in a world where NO ONE would willingly give up such power, such as this world. Technically, in this AU, Laenor could still be alive, even if someone else claims Silverwing, because the power of love. (lol)
Ser Harwin Strong — RIP
He is super dead, that is for sure. No one knows who done it, except for Queen Alicent, who unknowing ordered his death. Larys could not predict the clusterfuck of succession created in the aftermath, but he is happy to watch them all burn.
"Prince" Jacaerys Velaryon Waters
It was not hidden that he and his siblings were of bastard birth, though sometimes he wished it had. He never liked the way people looked at him, how people spoke of him. His mother promised that when she became queen, she would name him a true born, and name him heir [or] King Viserys has officially named him while still alive. To better his station, he was engaged to Lady Baela at a young age. He is grateful that he loves her, as it could have been much worst, but he is worried about pulling her into this game of thrones with him.
"Prince" Lucaerys Velaryon Waters
As a way to better their claims, Luke was betrothed to Rhaena, a girl many years his senior, at a young age, and remained at her side ever since. Many people joke that he is Rhaena's ward. While he doesn't like these jokes, he sometimes thinks of her as more of a mother than his own. Lucaerys was the one blamed for Aemond losing his eye.
"Prince" Joffrey Velaryon Waters
A noble born bastard of Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen and her lover Harwin Strong while she was married to Ser Laenor Velaryon.
Prince Royal Daemon Targaryen
He did have sex with Rhaenyra that night in the brothels, and even after their marriage, neither he more Rhaenyra admitted it.
Prince Viserys ii Targaryen
a true, noble born, Targaryen prince, legally the heir to Princess Royal Rhaenyra, until his older brothers are legitimized.
Prince Aegon iii Targaryen
a true, noble born, Targaryen prince.
Lady Baela Targaryen
After becoming a ward to Princess Rhaenys, Baela and Jace would fly to meet one another on a craggle of rocks in the gullet, she dreamed of flying away with him, but he dreamed of honoring his mother's wishes.
Lady Rhaena Targaryen
She loves pink, a frills and all things girly. And what's more girly than witchcraft. I don't know about you, but there's more than one way to hatch a dragon egg, and it couldn't hurt to try a little blood magic, right? She felt the power of the blood magic once. When she took the eye of the dragon stealer, Aemond Targaryen. He was too weak to claim Vhagar, and Rhaena knew the only way for a dragon to be claimed was if her previous rider was dead. Rhaena wishes she had taken more than his eye that day. But, she allowed her little betrothed, Lucaerys, to take the blame for her actions. Aemond did not object, not wanting the entire world to know he was bested by some little girl. disney song inspiration — Friends on the Other Side from Princess and the Frog

Team Green — Canon Characters; Alternant Universe Variant
Prince Royal Aegon ii Targaryen
Viserys had plenty of time to name him heir, but still has not done so. Viserys lives years longer (perhaps thanks to the sacrificing of dragons' blood) and he still has not named Aegon heir. Prince Aegon's idea to take himself out of the running for the throne is to marry the only child of Lord and Lady Redwyne, and become the Prince of the Arbor. The Redwynes are already constructing a Dragonpit for Sunfyre on the beach.
Princes Aemond Targaryen
No matter which way you slice it, he is a second son and has no hope for a chance at the throne. In a world filled with dragons that don't grow larger than hatchlings, Aemond holds the fiercest power in the realm by far. He was raised with the affection of ladies in his mother's employ. For as long as he could remember, he has wanted to marry Lady Cinda Lannister, ten years his senior, and at his every proposal she has turned him down.
Princes "Ser" Daeron Targaryen
There are many things acceptable in this new world, but an overly effeminate man is still not one of them. Queen Alicent knew she needed to send him away for his own protection, and with the help Gwayne, Daeron was sent away to grow in Oldstown without her. He has grown into a a proper Knight of the Reach, with the "friendship" of his many, many fellow knights. He is a legendary trick rider of horses, because of this people often joke that he will be the fiercest of dragon riders. He is quite popular with the ladies in the region, as they know he can help them attract the man of their dreams. #makeovermontage disney song inspiration — LeFou in ["Gaston" from Beauty and the Beast sung by two gay men at a "Broadway Villains Party"]
Princess Helaena Targaryen
She claimed a dragon in secret, against her mothers wishes, Dreamfyre remains tethered in the Dragon Pit and Helaena is forbidden from riding. She is made to wear uncomfortable gowns and parade around the Keep for the enjoyment of others ladies and lords. She is an adventurer at heart, and a dreamer the way ever reader is, she dreams of flying off and exploring the great wonders of the world. She is fascinated by Old Valyria and dreams of solving its mysteries. Her favorite story is that of Princess Aerea Targaryen, who was burned from the inside out by the horrors of what lives within the ruins of Old Valyria. Also she's queer, and maybe grows exotic herbs and mushrooms...

Worldbuilding Succession Systems: Goodfallow
Most of what we see or hear when it comes to the succession systems in the universe that Ever After High is set in relates to fairytales and the inheritance of specific character roles. Many of the fairytale royalty are born into their royal bloodlines or otherwise marry in. But there are some kingdoms where things aren’t as easy as that. One such kingdom is the Good King’s Kingdom – which I named Goodfallow in another post.
The Good King is a fairytale character, but his role in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is small. In fact, depending on the adaption of the story you read he might have already died by the time the story has officially begun. He’s not quite dead yet in the series, seeing as he’s still raising Raven Queen, but it is never acknowledged that Raven is in line for the throne. Not even as a “Hey, maybe Raven has her dad’s destiny…” kind of way, which you would expect given Raven is constantly fighting for any destiny other than her mother’s. Going that route might seem like too easy a fix to acknowledge in the series, especially early on, no matter how powerful a red herring that would be for the readers. It could have even been used to make Grimm start to worry on whether or not he actually guessed right when it comes to writing the fake book. Grimm doubting himself would have been great, even more so if it’s a big thing to have forgotten that the Good King needs an heir too.
The potential for drama aside, there must have been something else that made everyone think they were right so conclusively (and I’m not speaking of the gendered characters, there are too many female characters who have their father’s destinies for that to be the reason).
Then I had an idea.
The Goodfallow Crown
I wanted to create a succession system for Goodfallow that would be able to stand up to the Storybook of Legends on something akin to even ground. Obviously, I didn’t want it to have such a grand scale. But I knew I wanted something magical, and I knew I wanted it to be possible that the Storybook of Legends (the original) could guess wrong. (I mean what even is the point of having an antagonist as powerful and insufferable as Headmaster Grimm if he wasn’t able to grasp at some straws to save face and avoid even the harshest of punishments?). Still I wanted Grimm to be arrogant enough that he wouldn’t have worried about Raven’s position as the Evil Queen until she was throwing the book in his face on Legacy Day.
This meant I needed something with so many possibilities that something like the Storybook of Legends would have a hard time even coming up with the most likely outcome for the Next Good King. Something that could be affected up until the moment that the Good King has been crowned. And something that had the magical power to break the magical contract to the Storybook of Legends that signing it would create without extensive repercussions – something that would cause a page to fall out on its own if need be.
Also it needed to be something that played into what a Good King should be, it is what is choosing the reigning monarch after all.
In Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, the Evil Queen is defined by her attitude and treatment of the kingdom’s people, so it only makes sense that the Good King be defined in the same way. So I played with the idea of the Good King being an elected position that passed down the bloodline out of convenience and all the things that real life kings and queens have to do to make sure that the people don’t start up a revolution. Something like the Sword in the Stone from King Arthur’s legends could do that, the same could be said for Thor’s Hammer (though I wasn’t actually thinking of Mjolnir when spider-mapping ideas).
I couldn’t see it being an actual sword, as cool as it would be for the Good King to actually have the kingdom’s blessing of sorts to raise his sword at those who wronged him. And after reading the fairytale Prince Darling, where there is a ring that pricks the young Prince on the finger every time he does something wrong in hopes that it will make him into a good person, I thought of using a crown.
The Goodfallow Crown, named such because it is the physical manifestation of the collective will of all the citizens of Goodfallow ticks a lot of the boxes for what I wanted.
It’s magic, powerful enough to break the bindings created by the Storybook of Legends because I’m the author and I say so. A lot of citizens in Goodfallow mean a lot of different possibilities for whether or not they think a candidate is the best for the Good King. It can still be meddled with before the inheritance ceremony, popularity and propaganda are going to be important – the same goes for whether or not a candidate knows what they’re doing. In turn this could be what makes Grimm so arrogant in his assertions that Raven will have her mother’s destiny.
The students at Ever After High are shown to be scared of Raven to the point they scream and run away from her. At the start of the books she assumes that this is just a side effect from her destiny as her mother had mentioned that something of the sort would happen when she reached a certain age. But it could be argued that this has more to do with how bullying of Raven (or any supposedly-evil-aligned character) was encouraged by Grimm or other members of the faculty, high tensions from how close Legacy Day is for her etc. Because Raven does get more popular as the books go on, and because the characters act a similar way in the beginning of the show’s canon it could be argued that she get’s popular enough to win Thronecoming.
But it’s not just Raven’s lack of popularity. Grimm makes all the final class decisions when it comes to what subject’s students can take, so he can ensure that Raven never takes classes that would prepare her for being the Good King (Kingdom Management, Throne Economics, etc…) and then there’s the low possibility that the people of Goodfallow would accept someone who willingly signs up to potentially marry the king of a neighbouring country, abuse their power, and even get arrested or die before having kids as their Ruler. This is one case where the Storybook of Legends doesn’t need to be real for the damage to be done. And Grimm has no reason to not be arrogant about his guesses until Legacy Day where Raven declares she wants to write her own destiny on the in-verse equivalent of international television he’s not going to worry too much.
The tangent into Grimm’s motives and assumptions show that having Goodfallow’s succession system be like this will only add another layer to some of the things going on in the series, and this can even be applied to other characters too. Raven would have grown up in a kingdom where your actions mean more then what you say, so even agreeing to sign the Storybook of Legends and live her own life after would have not been in the cards for her (not to mention it would cheapen Apple’s own story if she asked that of Raven), and Queen White would have also grown up in Goodfallow given the Good King is her father as well, and that could add a really interesting layer to her own character and her obsession with popularity. Especially in the context of the Class of Classics comic which shows that Snow was once a studious student like Apple was but has now seemingly forgone that in favour of focusing on popularity (which is the same in the books as well as Dragon Games). It certainly speaks of there being more to her character then what we’ve gotten.
Now it’s just a matter of figuring out how the Good Fallow Crown works.
It seems a bit much to have someone attempt to wear the crown for the first time on their coronation, and I’m also understanding of the fact that it’s technically headwear and therefore can’t get heavier if the kingdom seems to disagree with an idea or something else – also Goodfallow isn’t a hivemind? So there would need to be some kind of inheritance test. Perhaps for officially declaring a Crown Prince or Princess.
Historically, Crown Princes or Princesses seem to given the title when they are ready for it. With the announcement happening sometime between the ages of fourteen and eighteen, unless their parents were dead, and they were ruling through a Regent. Raven is fifteen when Legacy Day takes place so sixteen seems like a more reasonable time for the ceremony to happen. Though obviously some of the kingdoms would name their children the Crown Prince or Princess earlier (I’m thinking Briar and Hopper might have been given their titles when their Magic Touch developed, given its significance to their stories).
So the sixteen year old heir would try the crown on. It would be impractical for the circle of people who can hold or lift the crown to be small a la Thor’s Hammer, especially when it’s the literal Will of the People. So, magical girl transformation?
Very basic, plain clothes are to be worn with no jewellery – because you might lose it otherwise. If the people agree with the Prince or Princess being a good candidate for the throne then they’ll get decked out in finery when the magic is a match. If not then there’s no change. (Not that that prevents rumours from spreading to the contrary).
“Rumour has it the Evil Queen tried to wear the crown once and it set her on fire.”
“Really?”
“Yeah, that’s why her hair is like that now.”
Of course, the changes don’t stop at the Inheritance Ceremony. Just because the Goodfallow Crown doesn’t get infinitely heavier when the Good King does something the people don’t agree with that doesn’t mean that nothing happens. Raven’s dad is described as being bald in the books, and I like to think that the reason for that is the people of Goodfallow not agreeing with him marrying the Evil Queen, while still understanding why he did it. But there would likely be other affects as well. Such as increased stress, anxiety, paranoia, etc. Maybe a lack of motivation in his day to day life? I don’t know, but the Goodfallow Crown does take the phrase “Heavy is the head that wears the crown” to a whole new meaning.
I love the whole thought of this, as evidenced by the fact it takes up almost three whole pages in a Word Document. Definitely one of my favourite pieces of worldbuilding I’ve done for any fandom ever.

𝓑𝓲𝓸𝓰𝓻𝓪𝓹𝓱𝔂.
Albeit Queen Rosalinde died giving birth to her only child, Princess Margaretha von White was considered a miracle to their kingdom. The young beautiful girl was the only heir after the royal couple thought they’d never receive the bless of a child. Known by everyone as ‘Snow White’, the princess grew up to be a gentle and caring woman.
However, her father remarried when she was ten. At first, King Markward’s new wife was everything that a queen should be: caring and lenient. Everything changed when the king got sick and died. The power-hungry queen showed her true face: a vain, mean woman that had no refrains to get what she wanted.
The Evil Queen couldn’t stand the idea that she wasn’t the fairest of her land, that everyone loved Snow White with a pureness that would never be directed at her. She ordered one of the kingdom’s hunters to kill the girl, but, when faced her, the man couldn’t do it. He told her the plan and that she should run.
So she did, until she found a small house in the middle of the forest. Scared and lost, she found shelter in the house, later finding out that seven dwarves lived there. Margaretha told them her story and they let her stay, building a quick friendship with the men.
The Evil Queen, however, found her. Disguised as a old lady, she gave Margaretha a poisoned apple that made the princess fall asleep right after the first bite. It was supposed to kill her, but the dwarves asked for the help of the prince of a nearby country, known for their magical resources.
After being awakened from her near-death experience, Snow White went back to her kingdom and took her place as the rightful Queen of Sunnaward. It was hard, at first, since she wasn’t raised on the lessons of ruling ( she was a woman , she was raised to be a good wife , not a good leader ) but, as the only heir, Snow White learned on her own. Her caring nature makes her a thoughtful leader and a gentle ruler. She is, however, still learning. She doesn’t always follow ‘the rules’ and doesn’t carry the finesse that is commonly expected from a queen.

𝓥𝓮𝓻𝓼𝓮𝓼.
DESCENDANTS:
Joining the United Stated of Auradon was a though decision, but Snow White and Florian knew that it was the best for their people. Snow, however, missed the responsibility and the ability to help people that she used to have when she was the sole queen of Charmington. Ever the people pleaser, she found a new way to help people and make the happy : television. She’s now the host of a variety tv show, that functions as a perfect mix of talk show, journalism and entertainment. She wants to give a voice to every one, so she interviews and invite both royalty and not-royalty to speak on her show.  She’s a celebrity.  Besides that, Snow owns a small bakery in the capital of Charmington, that functions thanks to the work of the bakers she hired. When she’s overwhelmed by her busy queen-celebrity routine, she hides in the bakery’s kitchen and stress-cooks.
ps: in this house we ignore the canon appearence of snow white because she was the meanest person ever and snow would NEVER!!
VAMPIRE:
Desperate after five miscarriages, the queen and king of Sunnawald resorted to magic. When the witch asked for a soul as payment, they didn’t know it would be their unborn child’s. The girl was born with remarkable white skin and profound eyes, and a charm that won over everyone in the kingdom. Mysteriously, the queen died soon after, blood loss. Princess Margaretha grew up without ever noticing how different she was from everyone. Her charms, her looks, her ability of wining over every person and controlling every animal came with a big price, that she discovered when she turned fifteen. The hunger was terrifying, but no food was appetizing for the princess. She was fasting for a week, unable to eat anything, when she killed for the first time (that she was conscious, at least). Her step-mother, with her knowledge of the occult, always knew that something was wrong with Margaretha so, when people started to go missing, she knew right away what was happening. Her plan to end Snow White’s terror didn’t work. The first try - sending a hunter to take off Snow’s heart - was useless, since the girl could live without her heart. The poison worked for a while, paralyzing her body, but wasn’t powerful enough. When Margaretha awoken, she killed the Queen, took over her throne and kept ruling until the monarchy fell.
Now, Queen Margaretha, the immortal, runs around the world, under different names, with her heart in the same box her step-mother used when she first tried to kill her as a reminder of the monster she is and of what can happen when she gets careless.
MODERN:
The Von White family was already famous in the media even before the misterious death of it’s patriarch. Markward Von White was a lawyer that made his name known with his television show, the White’s Cold Cases, in which he analysed cases no one else wanted to pick up and ended up helping a lot of people. When he died, however, no one investigated his case with the same passion the man did in his live. After all, it was just an heart attack, could happen to any one, right?
Margaretha was a teenager when happened and she knew, since then, that it was her stepmother’s fault, even if she couldn’t prove it. She leaft home soon after, taking whichever job she could to maintain herself, after being cut off from her father’s inherence by her stepmother.
She made a life for herself, with the same determination and optimism she always had. Now she’s the owner of a winter themed bakery called Winter Wonderland, which earned her the nickname Snow White. She never gave up on finding justice to her father and vegence against her stepmom, but she also never let that urge control her life.

**  this blog will not be following any of the events post episode five, unless plotted otherwise. for the general arch of daenerys in my portrayal however, her ‘end’ was incredibly different. this does not mean to say that i am opposed to exploring narratives where jon attempts to murder her, or where she does turn mad but i will not be explicitly portraying that theme throughout my writing in general plots and threads. this is my canon divergence, the original post which is mostly a rant written after watching the final season can be found HERE but for the sake of my new blog, i thought i would type it properly  !!!  this is likely to be an incredibly long post as i have it in my head that daenerys deserved far better so thank you for sticking through and reading this. its hugely important to me. **  in my head, i truly believe that daenerys was not mad. george r. r martin did not write her to be mad and her storyline will hopefully take another route after the butchering of her narrative in the final season.. she was simply doing what she thought was right and best for the people of westeros in a way where she got her justice and unfortunately, she did lose her way and became wrapped up in what she believed her ideal world to be. we completely saw in her final scene with kit beside the throne that she was still very much human and not insane. she was genuinely a human being, asking him to create a better world with her and … my girl. i would also like to put it out there that i am happy with the ending ( for a handful of the other characters and the justice they received ). i know there were a few loose ends that could have been tied with more time and less rush to crack on with star wars, cough cough d&d. but i think everybody is where they are meant to be. solely talking about jon’s ending but i won’t clog this post  !!! give that like button a  ♡  if you do read this  ––  just so i know for future plotting  !!!
𝐄𝐏𝐈𝐒𝐎𝐃𝐄 𝐂𝐀𝐍𝐎𝐍𝐒
◈     with still writing her, it is clear that in my portrayal that daenerys doesn’t die. whilst daenerys presented jon with a difficult choice to make, she asks him to build the new world with her in a throne room that is still intact and not burned to ashes. this would happen in the scene which he comes to her, only the turn in events does not follow the route of the show. how this does unfold however is dependent on my writing partner ( if writing with somebody who portrays jon ).
◈     tyrion urges that she invites the great lords and ladies of westeros to the dragon pit so that they do not feel uncomfortable or on edge with seeing her on the iron throne  –––   a woman that they have only ever heard stories of. the idea of bringing them to a place where her dragons were once held as prisoners is a metaphor for the freedom that she wants to instil upon the seven kingdoms. now that the war has been won, they discuss the nights watch and other worldly issues, including northern independence because as somebody who has had everything taken from her, she recognises the loss that the stark family have also faced.
◈     the main reason that she grants the north their independence is because she knows how much eddard stark meant to jon and how the north has been a staple of his childhood and his narrative and she also respects that. she respects everything that he has lost much like her and i think it is important to note that daenerys respects and understands where sansa is coming from. she wanted to take her rightful throne and in the process of obtaining her families kingdom, she wants to give the stark’s what is rightfully theirs too. i would also like to imagine that somebody has brought it to her attention that this man whom she did not know fought for her life against his king and best friend in the earlier storyline when robert orders for her to be killed.
◈     in episode four, she urges jon not to tell his siblings about his parentage. whilst portraying daenerys and jon romantically, i feel most comfortable writing in a context where jon is not the son of rhaegar. if threads do follow the rhaegar and lyanna storyline, whether a romantic relationship is involved or not, daenerys would still be incredibly concerned about jon telling people of his heritage. not because she believes he would ever dethrone her but more so, because she cares about him and knows that kingship is not something he has ever sought after. there is something within her that worries for the throne too, which is completely okay. daenerys is allowed to have that burning dream in the back of her mind as it is all that she has ever known.
◈     “ because of everything she has been through, because of everything they have done to her.   this is something that she says to jon, in relation to sansa. in my portrayal, daenerys does not feel threatened or anger towards sansa. instead, she actually feels disheartened and she understands it in a strange and peculiar way. she acknowledges that sansa has concerns for a reason, she absolutely understands that sansa has a vision ( similar to her own ) where she wants the best for her people. in my mind, i see a friendship and alliance forming betwen the pair  –––  particularly on daenerys’ behalf as she has not come to westeros to form enemies. theyshare hardships and more importantly, have both blossomed into two powerful women who deserved better. i think they would be perfect together, as the southern and northern rulers.
𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐒𝐌𝐀𝐋𝐋 𝐂𝐎𝐔𝐍𝐂𝐈𝐋
◈     daenerys’ small council will have been heavily planned with tyrion by her side. in my canon, jorah, rhaegal and missandei are still alive. however, dependent on the threat and plot  –––  if it aids the other person that i am writing with, i am not opposed to exploring the themes and troubles that their deaths may bring daenerys. sharna likes to live a world of angst, hurt and upset so bring me these heartbreaking, gut wrenching plots  !!!  please.
◈     as the queen of the six kingdoms, daenerys would absolutely appoint master of war to jon snow. in her eyes, there is not a single person more deserving of the role given every battle he has faced. she would not expect him to take it because canonically, targaryen or not, she knows that he has and will always be a stark inside. if it pleased him to travel back to the north and live his days back in winterfell with his family, then she would accept this, even if it did hurt her. an alliance between the southern and northern regions of westeros would be incredibly important to her, whether it is jon or sansa ruling as the king / queen in the north. failing this, greyworm would be appointed as the master of war with being the leader of her armies.
◈     bronn would remain her master of coin at tyrion’s suggestion, though at first daenerys would be sceptical due to him being part of the sack on highgarden. she does not feel comfortable with the idea that bronn was a part of the sack, murdering her allies and then claiming the castle for himself. but in this  ‘ new world ’  she is trying to build of forgiveness and second chances, it only seems right that bronn is given the opportunity to prove himself worthy. in any verses with margaery writers where she is still alive, margaery tyrell is very much the heir to highgarden.
◈     lord commander of the queens guard would be jorah mormont. although daenerys has faced betrayal from him, she has forgiven him. there is not a single person in both westeros and essos that daenerys would trust with her life above jorah. not only that, but he has been by her side for the longest and it would give her no greater honour than presenting him with such a title after he has heavily protected her from the moment they met in pentos. daenerys’ knowledge of westeros and essos is not simply made up of what she has learned from characters like viserys and magister illyrio but a majority of it has come from jorah mormont, who has been by her side apart from the small timeframe in which he was exiled by her.
◈     davos seaworth will be granted the title of master of ships. i would like to think that daenerys had formed a bond with him, due to him being the one to bring jon to dragonstone. she admired his humour for what it was and more than anything, she admired his bravery as she knew that he had never fought in many fights. i would like to think that they shared memories of dragonstone and seeing as she does not know the castle very well, he would have offered her insight and knowledge of her ancestral home … telling her stories that shireen had taught him about the night she was born and her families history here. master of ships would also be a way to commemorate his son, in his death through the battle for blackwater bay.
◈     master of whispers. in this divergence, varys did not die or betray her because she  ‘ went off the rails ’.  varys may have lost faith in her but daenerys’ kind nature and desire to give second chances was what gave him the opportunity to see something else in her  –––   a fire. he could see that daenerys knows what she needs to do in order to make this world far better than she found it and he believes in her to do so. master of whispers has always been a role he fulfilled in kings landing below kings that he has not necessarily believed in, so she would like to present him with the chance to work under her, having chosen her as his queen.
◈     grand maester is something which would be offerered to samwell tarly. in this canon, daenerys did burn randyll tarly and other soldiers as punishment for the sack of highgarden and their distaste in taking her opportunity to fight for the winning side, especially as somebody who had an allegiance to house tyrell and decided to dishonour that for the premise of gold and serving under the lannister’s. she knows the hard work he endured throughout his time at the citadel and feels as though this is the perfect opportunity to honour the time that he spent there, as well as providing a safe place for gilly, sam and their new child to live  –––   under protection.
◈     master of law is something that i have not yet thought of and whilst tyrion would likely be perfect for the role, he is her hand. i am going to leave this one open as a plotting device to other people so if anybody would like to do a thread surrounding that role, then be my guest. this is also open to OC characters  –––   including females as we need some more woman on this  small council. i am also open to other suggestions for this role  !!!

hi, i hope you don’t mind but i have a question for you. i was curious as to what your ideal ending for GOT would’ve been? I was just thinking about my baby Arya and Jon and how they were screwed over in the WORST WAY and how their endings made no sense whatsoever, and wanted to know- If you could chose an ending for each of these characters what would it be?Individually or even who they end up with. I wanted gendrya/jonsa but kinda accepted it wouldn’t happen but their individual endings.. sigh
Hey Anon!
No, I don’t mind the question at all although I’ll admit I’ve studiously avoided thinking too much about the final season and all the ways it felt like such a tedious grind to the long-expected ending for one character at the expense of most everything else *sighs*
I’ve not attempted a ‘fix-it’ fic (or read any) because I have zero desire to dwell too much on all that wasted potential so it’s AU or major canon divergence all the way, baby!  It’s all about individual coping mechanisms, right?
Have I written happy fluff in the past of Jon and Sansa ruling the North or the Seven Kingdoms with their five kids and Direwolves and ridiculously happy while Lord and Lady Baratheon come for visits on occasion and Bran is counseling his family with maybe Meera at his side?  Yeah, but I also know that is not the kind of thing Martin writes.
That said, what would my ideal ending have been?
Well, Political Jon would’ve been made crystal clear instead of all that vague inconsistent crap we got.  I can never see Book Jon falling for someone like D.  Sorry, I just can’t buy it.  Ideally, I wanted him to be king with Sansa as his queen/co-ruler and eventually his wife whether that was in just the North or some sort of newly defined Seven Kingdoms.
I desperately want Sansa’s words ‘no one will ever marry me for love’ to be proven wrong in addition to her being an awesome queen.
I’m fine with Bran being king.  This blog stans House Stark all the way and I love Bran.  It would be amazing for the boy who feared being forever labeled as ‘broken’ to wind up on top but I want it to make sense, too.
With Arya, I want my girl to choose peace in the end and reject the path of revenge and then just be happy with whoever makes her happiest.
I think an important thing to remember is that while the endings may be what GRRM intends for our Starks and Jon, I also believe the journey there will be significantly different in the books.
For instance, I believe Arya’s ending might make more sense in the books.  Her choosing to sail off and go on adventures could be very satisfying if we saw why that was important to her.  (BTW-I have nothing against Gendrya as a ship in show verse but since she’s 11 at the end of Dance, I have a feeling the relationship between her and the hunky blacksmith will be different.)
Sansa becoming queen is something I’ve long hoped for and the show actually did a decent job in S7 and 8 showing us her caring for her people and preparing for the big fight as well as fighting for the North’s independence.  I’d still love to see what GRRM does with her in the Vale, etc.
And I would hope that Bran becomes king for reasons other than Tyrion’s monologuing while supposedly on trial for his life...good God, I’m getting twitching remembering this nonsense again, Anon.
And while I could certainly see Jon choosing a form of self-imposed exile after everything he endures and feels culpable for, I’d like to hope there’s some glimmer that he might return to Winterfell (and Sansa) someday but I don’t know with GRRM aka Evil Santa.  Sansa may forever be the woman he thought he couldn’t have and loses his chance with in spite of learning the truth of his parentage (which btw should fucking mean something in the books besides adding to D’s paranoia, you know?)
Regardless, you can believe that in the books (just like the show) as long as Jon and Sansa are both alive (which we know they will be now) I’m going to head canon they’ll find their way back to each other eventually :)
Thanks for the ask!
