 A very long, long time ago. 

A quarter past twelve, on a sunny Saturday afternoon, a year ago- to be exact. The memory struck true in your mind, a chord that played on a constant loop, a broken record. 

“You’re clingy Buck. More clingy than normal.” Sam had rolled his eyes, cracking open a beer as he sat across from the two of you. You sat beside Bucky, his arm draped behind you as his other hand traced shapes and letters across your bare thigh. 

He had to be touching you. Always touching you. 

“M’not.” he had sulked, hand stilling on your skin. “I’ve never seen you away from Y/N. Like ever. S’not normal Bucko.” 

Bucky had left in a huff that day, tugging you up to follow him back inside, away from the hot, sticky summer heat and well… everyone else. 

“Do you think I’m too clingy dovey?” he murmured into your hair, his large arms wrapped around your smaller frame. “ ‘Course not Jamie!” you smiled, planting a gentle kiss on his bicep, bulging from the too small shirts he’d wear, hugging him like a glove. 

“Good.”

He’d often ask you things like that, always responding with a simple “good.” As if he needed reassurance, as if he needed that gentle reminder.
