The Triangle of the Burle

The Triangle de la Burle, in English, the Triangle of the Burle, is an area located in France, on the East of the Massif Central, between Ardèche, Loire and Haute-Loire. It is known for its supposedly abnormal amount of airplane crashes. Its name comes from French journalist Jean Peyrard who published a book about the Triangle entitled “Le Triangle de la Burle  - Bermudes en Cévenne” [The Triangle of the Burle - Bermuda in the Cévennes]. As you can see, this name is a reference to the Bermuda Triangle. As for the Burle, it is the name of a north wind that blows in the region during winter.

According to some, since the 1940s there has been a high amount of plane accidents in this area. Some witnesses say they have seen UFOs such as balls of light in the air.

The first accident happened on November 3 1943. A Hallifax from the Royal Air Force crashed during the night near the village of Marcols-les-Eaux. Seven of the eight soldiers on board died. There was a storm on that night, which probably caused the accident. However, some people said that they had seen luminous objects around the plane.

The Triangle of the Burle became known internationally when a Skyways plane crashed in the region on May 13 1948. There were three crew members and four passengers. One of the passengers was Kathleen Kennedy, JFK’s sister.

There are also cases of plane crashes where, when the rescuers go to the area where the accident happened, they find nothing, and no plane is declared lost. It is called a crash de rien, a nothing crash.

There are all kinds of theories to explain those accidents. As said earlier, bad weather is one of them. This area is one of the regions with the largest number of volcanic pipes in the world. Those pipes are said to canalise an energy that can disturb planes’ devices. There is a large amount of quartz as well, which can have an influence too. Some think the cause of these events comes from the sky, as some objects were observed in the air. Magnetic perturbations were also suggested as a possibility, as it could disturb navigation devices. It might come from electromagnetic clouds or from the volcanic ground.

The existence of the triangle has been questioned by the association Ardéchois à Paris in an article published on their website. They argue that most of the accidents associated with the triangle happened outside the area. The main cause, according to them, is the weather. The Cévennes are known for facing strong rains and violent storms. There are also periods of fog, which is especially dangerous in the mountains. The association also states that many of these accidents happened because of human mistakes.

Lili Elbe (born December 28, 1882 in Vejle , Denmark as Einar Mogens Andreas Wegener [1] ; † September 12, 1931 in Dresden , Germany ) was a Danish painter . She was probably one of the first intersex people to undergo gender reassignment surgery in 1930/31 . Lili Elbe had operations first in Berlin and then three more times in Dresden. 

The writer Niels Hoyer writes in his book A Man Changes His Sex: A Life Confession that Lili Elbe was born with both male and female organs.

Lili Elbe and Gerda Gottlieb met as students at the Royal Danish Academy of Art in Copenhagen and married in 1904. Elbe specialized in landscape and architectural painting, while Gottlieb opted for illustration and fashion graphics. In order to expand their sphere of activity, they moved to Paris in 1912 , where Gerda could also live out her lesbian orientation and Lili could live out her female identity more freely.

Around 1913 it became known that the model for Gerda's fashionable figurines was a phenotypic man who called himself Lili Elbe. Only the closest friends knew that Lili Elbe was identical to Einar Wegener; Gerda Wegener introduced Lili to strangers as her husband's sister. In 1930 Lili Elbe decided to finally make the physical adjustment to the perceived gender . In February 1930 she followed Kurt Warnekros' instructions and went to Berlin. The Institute of Sexology of Magnus Hirschfeld in Berlin led the gender reassignment surgeryby. The first operation took place in a practice in Berlin. Then Elbe went to the Dresden women's clinic. On May 26, 1930, Kurt Warnekros performed a second operation.

As a result of the sex reassignment operations, the marriage was annulled by the Danish king; Elbe received papers in its new name.

A few months after the fourth operation in 1931, complications arose, probably due to transplant rejection , from which Lili Elbe died. [4] [5] She was buried on the Dresden Trinity Cemetery in Dresden-Johannstadt in the IIC field.

New tombstone 2016. Lili Elbe's grave, which was leveled in the 1960s, was restored in 2016. The new tombstone was funded by Focus Features , the production company for The Danish Girl . 

Lili Elbe's life story Fra mand til kvinde (From man to woman) first appeared in Danish in 1931, was translated into German, published in Dresden in 1932 and then in London in 1933 in English in a translation from the German version . In 1953 a second unabridged edition was published in New York; the most recent edition in English is from 2004. The book by Niels Hoyer (d. i. Ernst Harthern ) was published in German in 1954 by the Tauchnitz-Verlag under the title "Change - a life confession" 

For Jan Morris , the book she discovered in a bookstore in Ludlow was "the first confirmation that there were other people in the world who were in exactly the same position as me." 

In 2000 David Ebershoff wrote a novel about Lili Elbe and Gerda Wegener (in the book as American painter Greta Waud) with the title The Danish Girl (original title The Danish Girl ). It has been translated into a dozen languages ​​and has been an international bestseller.

The film adaptation of the same name by Tom Hooper premiered on September 5, 2015 at the Venice International Film Festival . Eddie Redmayne plays Lili and Alicia Vikander plays Gerda. At the 2016 Academy Awards , Redmayne was nominated for Best Actor , and Vikander was named Best Supporting Actress.

In November 2013 the Lili Elbe Archive was founded in Berlin as an "independent place for the transmission of one's own history of non-normative gender"; worn by an association of the same name.

Hypocrisy Alert!: Rep. Omar’s anti-Semitic tweets that a Jewish lobby and Jewish money cause Congress to support Israel are both wrong and extraordinarily hypocritical. Congress supports Israel because the American people, both Jew and non-Jew, support Israel and because it’s the moral thing to do, and because both nations share democratic values and strategic interests.  

ZOA’s analysis of Rep. Omar’s Federal Election Commission (FEC) filings shows that Rep. Omar’s financial supporters include a veritable “Who’s Who” of the worst anti-Israel propagandists and haters and anti-Israel PACs– including CAIR; BDS leader and Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) founder Hatem Bazian; and anti-Israel Arab-American Institute (AAI) president James Zogby, who called Israelis “Nazis,” praised the deadly Intifadas as a “good story,” and has been a leading architect of propaganda themes used to pry progressive Jews away from supporting Israel. And a slew of others.  

Here are a few of Rep. Omar’s particularly revealing campaign contributors, listed in her “Ilhan for Congress” Federal Election Commission (FEC) filings:

Prof. Hatem Bazian – founded the virulent and sometimes violent anti-Israel organizations Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) and American Muslims for Palestine (AMP). His agenda is Israel’s destruction. Bazian is a leader of the anti-Israel boycott movement on campuses and throughout the world, called for “intifada” in the U.S., and persistently spreads class anti-Semitic falsehoods against Israel. IPT(the Investigative Project on Terrorism) also noted that Bazian uses “Islamophobia” accusations to minimize terror support prosecutions and to attack fellow Muslims who supported ousting the former Muslim Brotherhood government in Egypt. Bazian gave Ilhan Omar contributions on 8/8/2018, 8/12/2018 and 9/12/2018.

CAIR (Council on American-Islamic Relations) – an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation terror financing trial, for funneling money to Hamas. FBI testimony reportedly indicated that CAIR is a Hamas front group. IPT detailed CAIR leaders’ undisputed statements supporting Hamas, and that U.S. District Court Judge Jorge Solis, who presided over the HLF trial, ruled in 2009 that the government’s evidence creates “at least a prima facie case as to CAIR’s involvement in a conspiracy to support Hamas.” CAIR-CA PAC gave Ilhan Omar $5,000 on 8/13/2018.  In addition, CAIR-CA Los Angeles Executive Director Hussam Ayloush gave $1,200 to Rep. Omar on 8/6/2018.  Also, CAIR Florida Executive Assistant Shari Akram gave Rep. Omar another $500 on 9/17/2018. CAIR is on Open Secrets’ list of Rep. Omar’s top 20 contributors.

James Zogby – president of the anti-Israel Arab-American Institute (AAI), co-founder and chairman of the anti-Israel Palestine Human Rights Campaign, a campaigner on behalf of the National Emergency Committee to Defend Ziad Abu Eain (to try to prevent the extradition to Israel of a Fatah terrorist who killed two Israeli teenagers and wounding thirty-six other Israelis), and a major anti-Israel propagandist and political adviser (including to Bernie Sanders). Zogby accused Israel of committing a “Holocaust” against the Palestinians, called Israelis “Nazis,” and called Cuban-American Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen an “Israel-firster” – an anti-Semitic trope implying dual loyalty. Zogby also praised the Intifada as a “good story,” and was a leading architect of propaganda themes used to pry progressive Jews away from supporting Israel, including falsely portraying Israel as an anti-Democratic occupier and oppressor of innocent Palestinians. Zogby gave Rep. Omar $2,700 on 10/2/2018.

Rashida Tlaib – fellow newly-elected anti-Israel Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib celebrated her election win by wrapping herself in the flag of Mahmoud Abbas’ murderous, hostile, Palestinian-Arab regime, which pays terrorists to murder Jews and Americans.  Tlaib supports replacing all of Israel with a Palestinian Arab state, repeatedly hurls false accusations at Israel, says that Israel doesn’t deserve human rights, and invoked antisemitic disloyalty-to-America smears against U.S. Senators who sponsored an anti-BDS bill.  (See “ZOA Condemns Newly-Elected Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) For Wrapping Herself in P.A. California Islamic University Prof. Nasreen Khan – Cal-Islam’s website states that  “Everything we teach is based on the Qur’an and the authentic teachings of[the rest is missing]” and that the school will provide students “with a core foundation to filter un-Islamic ideas as well as arm them with tools needed to spread Islam wherever they go.” Khan contributed to Rep. Omar on 8/14/2018.

Been reading Peter Carey and Vincent Houben’s “Perempuan-perempuan Perkasa di Jawa Abad XVIII-XIX” (”Mighty Women In Java, 18th-19th Centuries”).

It’s in Indonesian, and my Indonesian’s not great, so it is slow-going. Here are some bits, ineptly translated:

“Two examples of female figures from pre-colonial Javanese history who functioned as the foundations of dynasties and wellsprings of magic power are Ken Dedes -- Queen of Singosari and wife of the famous Ken Arok, King of Tumapel-Singosari -- in the early 13th Century; and Dewi Mundingsari -- second daughter of Raja Sigaluh of Pajajaran ...

In the Babad Tanah Jawi (Olthof 1941:78-9,140), both Panembahan Senopati (circa 1584-1613) and Sultan Agung (1613-46) were said to have left Parangtritis to meet the Queen in a spirit-filled palace under the sea. There they made love to her. This intimate and special relationship between the founders of Mataram and the Queen ushered a golden for that kingdom in the early 17th Century ... “In Surakarta, the most important dance honouring the Queen of the South Seas is the Bedoyo Ketawang, a classical dance that involves nine female dancers; these dancers must be young women of noble or royal descent. The choreography sketches a meeting between Queen Kidul and Senopati, and the Queen is praised, and given offerings of intricate batik cloth and her favourite foods (De Cock Wheatley 1929:208; Tirtaamidjaja 1967:31-61; Hadiwidjojo 1972:117-26; Hostetler 1982:127-42). When the dance is performed correctly -- when its dancers are ritually clean (not menstruating) and calm of heart -- the Queen manifests by entering the bodies of one of the dancers. In this trance state, that dancer is guided to the Proboyekso (the king’s private chambers), where she will make love to the king in a ritual that recalls Senopati’s mythic seduction of Queen Kidul. “According to Boow (1984:4), the king identifies which dancer is possessed, because he sees a greenish glow issue from her vagina -- a detail that reminds us of the symbolic “fiery cave” of a Ken Dedes or Pajajaran princess, as discussed previously.”

“When the king miyos (emerged) from the palace to meet with his subjects ... he was always flanked by a troop of all-women bodyguards. They were called abdi-Dalem Priyayi Manggung or prajurit keparak estri (or Langenkusumo troopers), and their number was drawn from district-level gentry.

“Variedly armed -- with shields, bows, poison-tipped arrows, spears, blowpipes, and rifles -- ten of their number were charged with bearing the royal regalia: drinking vessels, boxes for betel and perfumes, tobacco pipes, golden umbrellas and special clothing ... 

“Though the most beautiful princesses were chosen, often with much care (Ricklefs 1974a:304 note 42; Carey 1992:413 note 73), they rarely became concubines, and were often “gifted” to nobles as wives. As wives of court nobles, they were considered to be more fortunate than concubines, who cannot accept offers of marriage so long as the king still lives, and sometimes even after (Kumar 2008:6). According to Valentijn, the prajurit estri given thusly as wives looked “happy and proud” at the prospect, knowing that their princely husbands would never dare to mistreat them, lest they incur their liege-lord’s wrath (Kumar 2008:6, quoting Valentijn 1726:59-60).

“The expansion and training of the prajurit estri was something of an obsession for the second Sultan of Yogya. His mother, Ratu Ageng (ca. 1732-1803) ... served as the first commander of the sultanate’s “Srikandi Corp”, in the early days of the Yogyakarta court, post-November 1755 (Carey 2012:90). According to Javanese sources, there was much grumbling among the husbands and fathers of the realm at the end of the 18th Century, because so many young wives and daughters were conscripted into the prajurit estri  ...

“In the late 18th and early 19th Centuries, military-minded senior VOC officials expressed their wonder at the skill of these prajurit estri as mounted soldiers. Jan Greeve, Governor of Northeast Java (1743/4-1793, served 1787-91) ... was greeted at the Dutch Settlement in Mangkunegaran, where female soldiers fired salvos 'of such accuracy and regularity that we were amazed', ‘they fired their hand weapons [cavalry carbines] thrice with great accuracy ... followed by volleys of small arms [Javanese-made light artillery designed for cavalry use] arrayed by their sides ...’ (Kumar 2008:11-12). The skill of the “Srikandi Corp” at firearms stood in stark contrast to that of the male palace soldiery, who were notoriously ill-trained in long rifles and artillery (Carey 2012:9).

Litecoin (LTC) Jumps 11 Percent, Nears XLM in Market Cap

Bitcoin (BTC), Cryptocurrency, Litecoin (LTC)–While most investors focus on the price movement of Bitcoin as it nears $4,000, Litecoin has quietly posted the highest price gain on the day for coins ranked in the top ten.

Litecoin, which currently holds the seventh position in total market capitalization, climbed 11 percent against the U.S. dollar over the last 24 hours, marking the first rally for the coin to start the new year. While 2018 was an abysmal year for LTC–and nearly all tokens–with the price of a single Litecoin falling 90 percent over twelve months, the currency is off to a strong start in the first week of 2019.

The coin managed to reach an intra-day high of $36.14 before slipping back to its present price of $34.76 (as of writing). While the LTC rally has accompanied a positive day for Bitcoin, with the number one cryptocurrency by market capitalization nearing a breakthrough of $4,000, Litecoin has largely been trading off of recent news out of crypto exchange OKEx. On Jan 3., OKEx announced expanded support for its perpetual swap feature, including the addition of LTC, Ethereum and XRP among several other currencies.

Even with investors bullish on the announcement out of OKEx, Litecoin has managed a long history of trading as the “silver” to Bitcoin’s “gold.” While the coupling of the two currencies diminished during the prolonged bear cycle of 2018, with LTC losses outpacing that of Bitcoin since their respective all time high, Litecoin has still benefited from its close association with Bitcoin.

In addition, the Litecoin Foundation has been one of the more active crypto organizations, spearheading a recent promotion with the UFC to have their logo displayed in the ring for a pay-per-view match-up. UFC 232, with a viewership reportedly over 2 million and heralding the return of superstar fighter Jon Jones, featured Litecoin and the LTC logo as the Official Cryptocurrency Partner for the event

Lee, who has been criticized for infamously selling his LTC holding at the coin’s all time high in December 2017, has made an effort to help the currency along in recovery. Bitcoin (BTC), Cryptocurrency, Litecoin (LTC)–While most investors focus on the price movement of Bitcoin as it nears $4,000, Litecoin has quietly posted the highest price gain on the day for coins ranked in the top ten.

Litecoin, which currently holds the seventh position in total market capitalization, climbed 11 percent against the U.S. dollar over the last 24 hours, marking the first rally for the coin to start the new year. While 2018 was an abysmal year for LTC–and nearly all tokens–with the price of a single Litecoin falling 90 percent over twelve months, the currency is off to a strong start in the first week of 2019.

The coin managed to reach an intra-day high of $36.14 before slipping back to its present price of $34.76 (as of writing). While the LTC rally has accompanied a positive day for Bitcoin, with the number one cryptocurrency by market capitalization nearing a breakthrough of $4,000, Litecoin has largely been trading off of recent news out of crypto exchange OKEx. On Jan 3., OKEx announced expanded support for its perpetual swap feature, including the addition of LTC, Ethereum and XRP among several other currencies.
