U.S. Special Forces : Coyote MC-145B Armed Special Operations Transport...

The Sierra Nevada Corporation, or SNC, has given us the first look at its MC-145B Wily Coyote. This armed aircraft, which is derived from the Polish PZL M28 Skytruck, as is the U.S. Air Force's existing fleet of C-145A Combat Coyote special operations light transport planes, is the company's entry into the U.S. Special Operations Command's Armed Overwatch trials.

Caught this unique bird at Fort Worth Alliance Airport around lunch time. The Polish aircraft manufacturer PZL Mielec has teamed up with Sikorsky to market the PZL M28 Skytruck and they were in town for Help-Expo which is going on in Dallas. This aircraft is the company demonstrator, SP-DGW, and is headed out from here on a two month Caribbean and Latin American demonstration tour (the logo under the cockpit window is for the demo tour). The M28 is the Polish version of the Antonov An-28 which first flew in 1969. After a protracted flight test program, the second An-28 flew in 1975 and production of the aircraft was transferred to PZL Mielec in 1978 which became the sole source for the aircraft. An-28 production ended with the break up of the Soviet Union and in 1993, a Westernized version with Pratt & Whitney PT6A turboprops took flight and that’s the current M28 Skytruck. In 2009, the USAF Special Operations Command took delivery of the first of 16 M28 Skytrucks which were designed C-145A Skytrucks and used for operations in Iraq and Afghanistan with this very same civilian blue/white scheme.
