The Story of Mud
Told in point form. Cause that’s how I told my friend, the one keeping me sane during all this story development.
This is my favourite complex, weird-layered story there is in the entire story.
see, Aunt Death be like "the easiest way to get at Summer is to get at his bae." so that's how it goes down
Aunt Death petrifies Ayla to get Aelius to calm the fuck and get sealed away
and Avani, she's like "whelp. i love my bro, but he's dead now, but his wife ain't?? better set her up in this cute grotto on a bed of flowers.
now Avani, Avani's mortal bae, Mud, is a little feral child who is under an immortality curse. Avani’s like "well, i'm gonna die soon, better force my best friend to watch over my brother's waifu until we get back," and curses him to stay by this beautiful sleeping lady's side
so on top of never aging or dying, he's now not ever leaveing Ayla's bed side.
pratically skin and bones by the time CUTE GUY TEACHER NOT AT ALL INSPIRED BY GOOD NARUTO CHARACTERS™ finds him
and loves him
and i'm tearing up a little
so Ronan sees this kid, and he's like "COME HOME WITH ME PLEASE LET ME FEED AND CARE FOR YOU"
but the kid's like "i'm cursed to this spot."
Ronan cries a little and spends all his free time with Mud. after classes, he visits him to feed him, on weekends he teaches him, 24/7 he cares for him.
Mud’s literally never been happier
I mean he’s had some fun times with Avani, and Dandy Lion and Violet are pretty easy to get along with, but like, there’s this fatherly figure giving him love and attention and good food, he’s been blessed
he loves it. he loves Ronan. and Ronan loves him. they’re like a family.
now
now Sky and Teddy find Ayla's grotto. They revive Ayla.
Ronan goes to visit the kid, and finds the beautiful woman, that strange kid and that strange dog and the kid all standing around. The beautiful woman turns to him and is basically "adopt this fucking child please"
and Ronan, Ronan's like "i... i thought you were his mother???"
she laughs and laughs, her voice like bells. she tells him no and follows the strange kid and the strange dog out of the grotto.
this leaves Ronan with Mud in the cute grotto
Ronan looks as Mud with his brightest, happiest smile, and asks the boy if he’s ready to leave
Mud mirrors his new dad’s face and just pulls him through the brambles.
bonus:
after Thales confesses to Ronan that he only got cursed because he was caught picking flowers out of a witch’s flower garden - flowers he says, he was gonna give to him, after having witnessing how beautiful Ronan is
and sorta moving in with Ronan and Mud
it’s discovered that Thales is a much better cook than Ronan
Mud tells Ronan to marry the man as soon as he’s tasted the man’s cooking
and they sorta do, after they fall into this weird domestic bliss and become super comfortable with another
it shows in Mud, as the boy ages
his immortality curse was so that he could find a Family

Current Lore
It’s been a while since I’ve given much thought to this story of mine, and have been working diligently over the course of the last few days to make sense of it. Here’s the current low down for the lore.
Life and Death are sisters, twins. Born to a poor whore whose name has regrettably been forgotten. The Mother of All, Astrum, had pitied the poor whore and blessed her with hope.
The whore left her brothel and went to raise her daughters, who had shown their powers to the world in the form of small miracles of life and death.
Life
Her name is Lemun.
She is considered to be the patron of fertility, home and passion.
Always depicted holding a child in front of a tree baring all four seasons, representing how she is the start of life.
Fell in love with two mortals, who didn't sire or bear her children, but helped raise them.
Death
Her name is Letum.
She is considered to be the patron of medicine, harvest, and love.
Always depicted holding a sword or scythe in art, also in front of a tree baring all four seasons, depicting how she is the end of life. Her face is sometimes a skull.
She didn't trust the mortals who all but stole Lemun's heart, but came to bless their union.
Mortality
Husband and Wife, their names are Sphera and Herba respectively.
He was a master bowman, who's arrows could pierce the heavens. She was the village doctor.
In art they are depicted aged, elderly holding on to Lemun's youthful hands. It is unknown when they met Lemun however, scholars assume them to have been in their late 30s.
Sphera had cast his arrow into the sky, to impress his wife, Herba [Heir-bah]. A woman fell from the sky instead. She was gravely wounded by his arrow, he had his wife, the village doctor, treat the angel.
To their surprise, as soon as she was laid to rest, she had been healed.
The angel soon came to love the mortals who insisted she stay and rest. She came to love their love for another, their love for the earth, their love for life, their love for her.
Lemun would return to her heavens, and would watch the mortals, and once a season, fall to greet them.
In years time, they would gift their angel with small tokens found along the walking trails, blossoms, geodes, calms and tea cups. Each time, they would find a small child, large enough to fit in the palms of their hands and when Lemun would cradled the child, the child would grow to that of a babe and they would name them their child.
Winter
Sevan came to them first, in the shell of a calm. He was periwinkle blue and crying.
He represents winter and deep sleep. His hours are between dusk and dawn.
Phlegmatic
(:-)
Autumn
Gemma came in the next season, found in a geode. She was red as ruby and sighing.
She represents Autumn and time. Her hours are those of the evening.
Melancholic
(:-(
Summer
Aelius was found soon thereafter, in a cup of tea. He was as warm as the sun and laughing.
He represents Summer and hard work. His hours are the afternoon.
Choleric
):-(
Spring
Avani came to them last, found in the blossom of a cherry. She was green with life and smiling.
She represents Spring and Hope. Her hours are the morning.
Sanguine
):-)
Soon after their children grew to be respectable gods and goddesses, Letum had taken Sphera and Herba's lives, as was to be. Lemun and her children feigned acceptance of their passing, but Letum had known they all despised her for it.
Soon Lemun had stopped moving altogether. She eventually fell back to the earth, where she stilled and became a tree.
Her family wept.
And continued to weep for ages.
Letum, who had dealt with death so many a time, understood the passing of love, and held strong for her family.
But soon their grievances became too much to bear, so she took their lives as well, but taking the life of a god was no easy task, even for a goddess of death. She instead sealed them away. And for her transgressions, she became a monster.
Life
now a tree
Death
now a monster
Winter
sealed away in under a waterfall
Autumn
sealed away in a mountain
Summer
sealed away in a cove
Spring
sealed away in a tree grove
Motrals
are now the sun (Sphera) and moon (Herba)
