Partinus Family Headcanons (Christmas 2022 Special)
This one will contain OC’s. They are visible in the drawing below.
- Edgar has three siblings, more specifically three sisters ; he is the only boy among the children.
- He has a twin sister named Melody, and she was born before him, making her the oldest sibling.
- Loreena is a year younger than Edgar and Melody. Their last sister, Milly, was born seven years after Loreena.
- Their parents’ names are Finley and Victoria. Edgar’s second name, Arthur, comes from his uncle. Moreover, the children are said to look like their mother, as she also shares blue hair, with different tones. The only one that doesn’t share the same hair tone as their mother is Loreena, as the combination with Finley’s dark hair made her hair look darker than her siblings.
- They are really close with their cousins David and Elizabeth, nicknamed Lizzy by her family.
- Their parents were very loving, but they were always with their mother since their father was often away because of work.
- The family was happy until a plane crash occured and their sister Loreena went missing. She was believed to be dead (She was 3 and her siblings were 4).
- Despite all of that, they tried their best to live on with that loss. The parents were strong together.
- Unfortunately, one day, Victoria died some time after Milly was born, leaving her husband alone to take care of the three children.
- Since he was almost never home, he started to freak out as he thought he could never be able to do it alone without his wife. He thought he could do it one day with her, but she was gone way too soon...
- Finley lost his mind and ultimately decided to experiment on his children, starting with his only son Edgar. As he was taught to be a gentleman, he protected his sisters as he did not wanted his father to experiment and harm them, especially considering Milly was just a newborn.
- He got experimented on endlessly for an entire week. Thankfully, he was freed by his best friend Philip who was heavily worried of his absence. His family reacted quickly and brought the girls to safety. they were all alone when they find them, as their father was at work.
- Some time after that horrible discovery, Aaron Adams adopted the Partinus children. However, Melody was very distant and even mean to him.
- After everything that happened with her father (literally everything at once), Melody grew hateful and violent, the perfect opposite of her brother. She was even in really bad terms with Edgar. It was said by the doctors that it must be a trauma about her father’s doings that made her that way.
- What might be another proof of that “mental illness” is the fact that she always do different hairstyles everytime, showing her possible different levels of violence according to the doctors. She even smokes without her brother and foster father ; she said it helps her calm her nerves.
- She may seem hateful towards her twin brother, but in reality she loves him. Deep down Edgar knows that too, and he was never mad at her because he knew her condition. However, he can’t stand the fact that what his father did made her so different to the point of violence due to trauma.
- Loreena was taken care of by a loving family in Italy after she was found and saved by them from the crash.
- She doesn’t like her eye color ; she is envious of her siblings’ beautiful eyes.
- Loreena was the opposite of Melody ; she was pretty mean when she was young, but she grew a lot calmer over time.
- Edgar never thought at any second that she was dead, he kept on believing that she was safe wherever she was and that they would hopefully meet again one day.
- Despite her young age, Milly loves make up and stylish stuff.
- Their birthday dates :
Melody and Edgar : July 24th (Leo)
Loreena : November 20th (Scorpio)
Milly : March 1st (Pisces)
Elizabeth : May 17th (Taurus) {She shares the same birthday as Byron Love)
David : March 3rd (Pisces)
Aaron : December 17th
- Not all family members play football : Edgar plays as a forward, for the others :
Melody : Defender (n°3)
Loreena : Defender (n°2) and Manager
David : None (He doesn’t play football but he loves watching his family playing football.)
Elizabeth : Midfielder (n°16) and Manager of Knights of Queen
- Edgar taught Excalibur to Elizabeth.
- Melody wants to be a Math Teacher when she grow up.
- Both twins are Demi : Edgar is a Demiboy whereas Melody is a Demigirl.
- Since she lives in Italy for quite some time, Loreena really like the Italian team too. She even fell in love with one of their members, Raffaele Generani.
- Melody, on the other hand, fell in love with Joseph King’s brother James.
- Edgar has different relationships throughout his life :
He was with Thiago for a year.
He was with Sue but it didn’t last long because of their opposite personalities.
He stayed with Camellia for a fairly good amount of time.
He ultimately ended up with a woman named Elieth who is also from England. (She is German too !)
-Their mother got their first children at a fairly young age : She was 21 when she had Edgar and Melody, and she had Loreena a year later. However, she met her demise a few moments after giving birth to Milly. Which unfortunately means that she died way too soon, being only 29 years old. Moreover, she was born on February 3rd.
- Some of the IRL football players exists in this world too. Harry Kane exists in this world and he was like a mentor to Edgar. It was also him that helped him come back to football after what happened to his father. Considering Aaron Adams had a lot to deal with those 3 children and training the children, Harry often took care of Edgar and that made him better and give him more confidence about his capacities. He is like an idol to Edgar. Harry saw his younger self in Edgar too. People even associated a song for their relationship since Harry helped Edgar to get through this “shadow of him” ; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f_FkM0S-PgY&ab_channel=lyricmaker102
- Because of her mental illness, Melody can also be rude and violent towards her cousins, but also towards Harry Kane. But since they know about her condition, they don’t reply or do anything, otherwise this could be worse.
- Their heights and weights :
Edgar : 5′6″ (166cm) and 101lbs (46kg) ~~~as a 14 years old.
Melody : 5′3″ (160cm) and 112lbs (51kg) ~~~as a 14 years old.
Loreena : 5′1″ (153cm) and 93lbs (42kg) ~~~as a 13 years old.
Milly : 3′10″ (116cm) and 46lbs (21kg) ~~~as a 6 years old.
David : 5′8″ (173cm) and 137lbs (62kg) ~~~as a 16 years old.
Elizabeth 5′0″ (150cm) and 104lbs (47kg) ~~~as a 13 years old.
Aaron : 5′10″ (178cm) and 159lbs (72kg) ~~~as a 39 years old.

In the 23rd century, inhabitants of a domed city freely experience all of life’s pleasures — but no one is allowed to live past 30. At least for the two “Runners’ who have escaped out of their bubble world. It is fraught with twists and turns in a post Peak-Oil world, where society has finally found a solution to the resources of the planet. The ‘chosen’ few, however have one little catch, their lives have a unique way of ending, until these two discover a new way, and a Lie that was being told to all of the citizens. (Warning for younger viewers,there are scenes where (At the time,) it was considered risque to show people jumping into a freshwater pond and going skinny dipping).

BOOK - Killers of the Flower Moon by David Grann
QUICK SYNOPSIS - True crime story following Osage tribe member Mollie Nekahesey who marries her chauffeur, a white man named Ernest Burkhart. Then a series of murders of Osage people take place including Mollie’s own family members. (A movie adaptation is coming soon starring Leonardo DiCaprio)
IMAGE 1 - real Rita, the 3rd of the Nekahesey sisters
IMAGE 2 - My Rita in game who just aged up to teen. Of the Nekahesey sisters, her in-game genetics did the best job of looking similar to the real person!
IMAGE 3 - Ernest Burkhart's mother's grave. She died at the age of 28.
IMAGE 4 - On the same day that Rita was having her birthday, over at the Burkhart residence there was a tragedy. The mother, Mattie Burkhart, died leaving behind her husband Walter to take care of 4 young children. I dunno what the real mom died of. The sim Mattie died of overexertion. From L to R: Horace Burkhart (age 4 1/2), Byron Burkhart (age 2 1/2), Uncle William Hale (younger brother of Mattie), Ernest Burkhart (age 9), husband Walter Burkhart, and only daughter Edna Burkhart (5 1/2).
IRL TIME/PLACE - 1901, Osage County, Oklahoma for the Nekaheseys. The Burkhart's may possibly have been in TX at the time since the mother's grave is in TX.
MY SAVE TIME/PLACE - Sim Year 40 / Sim Day 4447 / Fall D23 / MON / Strangerville

Byron’s Xeno’s 3rd Birthday (2016) 100DPJp
The story is from Byron’s POV
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
–… It was night, the moon was shining in the night sky.
I invited Dee, who was in Stein, in my room, to spend some time together, just the two of us. …………
Byron: “It's been a long time since we got to spent time together, like this.”
Dee: “Yes...”
I pushed her thin body against the sheets and gently dropped a kiss on her forehead. Looking into her eyes, she returned the gaze, and filled me with sweet heat.
Dee: “I wanted to see for so long.”
Byron: “… me too.” (pic 2)
(I always think that… When I touch you like this, I feel like I can fill the time we could not meet.)
Dee: “… ah…nnn…”
I captured her soft lips, our breaths mingled. Explored the inside of her mouth, to find her tongue, it felt like our heat became one.
Dee: “Mnnnn…ah, King Byron…”
Slowly released her lips leaving an aftertaste, I slipped my hand around Dee's back.
Byron: “As I recall, some time ago, didn't you said you came here for something”
As I slid down the zipper of her dress, I remembered our conversation a while ago. I dropped her dress down to her waist and brought my lips to her bare skin, Dee's body shivered in response.
Dee: “ah...nnn… since, soon, it is your birthday… I was wondering if you would have some free time to celebrate with me…”
(… that was it?) Warm feelings arose in my heart at the thought that Dee wanted to celebrate. While a smile floated on my lips, feeling my chest warm, I slid my hand from her waist down to her leg.
Byron: “It will be difficult on that day, but I can make time later.”
Dee: “Really? I'm glad…”
Seeing Dee smiling happily, I fetl my chest tight. (I love Dee's smiling face. I want to make her smile even more.)
Byron: “Is there anything you would like to do on that day?”
I raised my body a little to look her in the eyes.
Dee: “I am glad we can celebrate together your birthday… King Byron, what do you want to do?”
(What I want…?)
Byron: “I … want to see your happy face.”
Dee: “eh…”
As I answered, Dee blushed slightly.
Dee: “King Byron… that is sly?”
Byron: “Sly…?”
Dee: “Since, just by saying these words, you already make me happy…”
Dee averted her face feeling embarrassed. (You too make me happy, just saying these words. You don't seem to realize that.) To convey my feelings that were welling up inside me, I lifted the hem of her dress, and traced my fingers from her knee to her thigh.
Dee: “Mnnn… ahh…”
When I touched her sensitive spot, Dee's body started to quiver.
Byron: “Dee… how can I please you even more?”
Dee: “… ahh, isn't it improper, even though it is your birthday, you want to make me feel happy?”
Byron: “It's not improper, since that is what I want for my birthday.”
Sucking gently on her skin, her sweet voice resounded in my ear.
Byron: “I want to hear your wishes.”
Dee: “…nnnn, then…”
Dee: “I want to see the snow festival together…”
I stopped my movement, hearing Dee's shy words.
Byron: “Yes… speaking of it, it will be held in the town near the castle soon.”
Dee: “Yes… King Byron, I think you will surely like it…”
I remember that for the Stein festival, volunteers will make snow sculptures on the streets. Since that festival will lovely decorate the town… Dee will love the scenery.
Byron: “Very well. I promise we will go together.”
Dee: “… oh, I'm glad. I'm looking forward.”
A smile appeared on Dee's face, like a blooming flower, I felt my chest becoming hot again. (There is no better gift than this smile.) I raised myself to meet Dee's gaze, and dropped a deep kiss on her lips. Our night continued until dawn while drowning in her sweet heat…--
– … Several days later, on the promised day.
Dee: “Wow, there are lots of nice snow statues…!”
Byron: “Yes”
The snow festival, held every year in the castle town, became famous for the snow sculpture displayed in the evening. (It's been a long time since I spent my personal time in this way, instead of being on an inspection.) I took Dee to walk through the streets where the snow sculptures were displayed.
Dee: “That rabbit snow statue is cute, isn't it?”
Byron: “… it looks like Benjamin.”
Dee: “Benjamin?”
Byron: “Al's rabbit pet.”
Dee: “Albert's rabbit pet is cute like this?”
Dee chuckled.
Dee: “Then, I'd like also to see a statue of Spinner.”
Byron: “Is there a snow statue of an owl?”
Dee: “Maybe there is. Let's look.”
Byron: “… very well.”
I turned to look at Dee, beside me, meeting her gaze. (Today, she smiled a lot. She seems to be enjoying it.) My mouth relaxed into a smile, at that time, the cell phone rang. (It's from Al…) I excused myself to Dee, and answered the phone.
Byron: “What is it, Al?”
Albert: “Excuse me, King Byron. There is something you need to look at as soon as possible…”
Byron: “… I see. I'll return to the castle immediately.”
(This is bad, our time together ends here.) I ended the call, and faced Dee.
Byron: “Dee, I'm sorry but…”
Dee: “It is okay. Official duties, isn't it? Please, don't worry about me.”
To reassure me, Dee gave me a sweet smile. (You always do that, to support me.) I gently peered into Dee's eyes, while slowly stroking her hair.
Byron: 'I will definitely make up for this later. Since there is a guard nearby, he will keep company.”
Dee: “I understand.”
(Speaking of it… Nico too came to Stein, as Dee's attendant. Dee will feel more comfortable with him, than with a guard she doesn’t know…)
Byron: “I will send Nico. Please take your time enjoying the festival.”
Dee: “Thank you King Byron. Take care at the castle.”
Byron: “Yes.” (pic 3)
I released Dee's hair, and turned around to go to the castle.
――… a few hours later.
(… this is everything) Nico came to my office just as I finished in a hurry with my official duties.
Nico: “King Byron, can I have a minute?”
Byron: “Yes. … you already returned to the castle.”
Nico: “Yes. By the way, Dee is in the garden.”
Byron: “The garden…?”
Nico: “She requested for you to go to the garden, if you have time after your official duties.”
Byron: “… is there something in the garden?”
Nico: “That … you should go and enjoy it. Now, please excuse me.” (pic 4)
I tilted my head, watching Nico leave.
(… what was that?) …………
As I stepped into the garden covered in snow, I found Dee immediately.
Byron: “Dee” (pic 5)
Dee: “Ah, King Byron…! You came.”
I widened my eyes, seeing next to Dee, as she turned around, a snow sculpture.
Byron: “Is that a snow sculpture … of Spinner?” (pic 5)
Dee: “Yes. Can you tell?”
Byron: “Yes. It is well done.”
As I expressed my honest impression, Dee smiled happily.
Byron: “But why are you making a snow statue…?”
Dee: “Because you could not look for a snow statue of an owl at the festival … I thought about making it myself, so you could enjoy it even if it is not the same.”
Byron: “For me…?”
(Even though, I was the one that left you alone for urgent official duties… you were still thinking about me.) To Dee's kindness, my chest became warmer, and at the same time a little aching. (How can I… repay you?)
Dee: “But, as expected, it is difficult to make a snow statue.”
I approached Dee, while stepping on snow, as she returned her gaze to the sculpture.
Dee: “I wanted to show it to you to after I’d finish it, but the feathers are not done yet.”
Byron: “… Dee”
Dee: “…!”
I embraced her cold body from behind and gently pressed my lips on her forehead.
Dee: “… ah… King Byron?” (pic 6)
I hugged breathless Dee tightly.
Byron: “It's no good.”
Dee: “What…?”
Byron: “I wanted to please you, but I was the one that got pleased.”
Taking a small breath, Dee seemed ticklish and laughed gently.
Dee: “King Byron, I'm happy that you were pleased.”
Byron: “Dee...” (pic 7)
Dee: “But, isn't just you King Byron”
Byron: “…?”
Dee leaned her back in my embrace, and spoke in a gentle voice.
Dee: “King Byron, even though you were busy, you took me to the festival. That made me very happy. I'm sure I am more happy than you.”
(… you really think that) Hearing her unexpected words, made my chest warm, my pulse beating faster.
Byron: “You… are very good at messing with my heart.”
(you are always… too much)
Dee: “…. nnnn.”
I lifted Dee's chin, capturing her lips and cold breath. I repeated the kiss, until the soft touch was tinged with heat. (No matter how much you are thinking about me… there will be many occasions when I'll give priority to my official duties.) While touching Dee, I checked the feelings in my heart. (I can’t choose which is more important, my country, Dee. So, at least I want to spend with Dee all the time that I have free.)
Dee: “King Byron…, … ah”
I dropped kisses, tracing from her lips to her cheeks. In that moment, I saw with the corner of my eye something white dancing, falling.
Byron: “… it started to snow.” (pic 8)
Dee: “It is beautiful.”
Byron: “Yes… but that would be a problem since you could catch a cold.”
I offered Dee my hand.
Byron: “Let's go back to my room now.”
Dee: “Yes…” (pic 9) …………
After we returned to my room, I was touching Dee to convey my feelings. While our naked bodies were piled on top of the sheets, I was kissing Dee to raise her heat.
Dee: “… nnn, ahhh”
Shifted the position of my body so that Dee could move, while touching her sensitive place.
Byron: “Sorry… I can't let you go.”
Dee: “… ah… King Byron…”
(even so, her body is cold) Touching her skin, I realized that she spent a long time outside making that snow statue, my heart is filled with precious love. (you put great effort in making the snow statue…)
Byron: “… it's regrettable.”
Dee: “… eh… what is…?”
Byron: “The snow statue that you made.”
(The snow will melt in time)
Byron: “I wish I could preserve it…”
As I spoke, Dee gently smiled.
Dee: “It is fine since it will remain in your memories… .”
Byron: “… I see.” (pic 10)
(In that case… I will never forget this day. Your smiling face, and your love, I'll keep them forever in my heart.) With loving thoughts, I hugged Dee tightly…
“ Kabul (5900 ft., 36 miles from Charikar), June 11th [1934].
From Herat to Kabul we have come 930 miles, of which forty-five were on horseback. A winding hill-road brought us down from the Charikar plateau to a smaller plain inside a ring of mountains; running water and corrugated iron glinted among its trees. At the entrance to the capital the police deprived the Vicar and the Curate of their rifles, to their great distress; but being in turbans, no one would believe they were government servants. We drove to the Foreign Office, where hot-red English ramblers were climbing over iron railings; to the hotel, where there was writing-paper in each bedroom; to the Russian Legation, where they had had no answer to M. Bouriachenko’s telegram; to the German shop, where they refused to sell us hock without a permit from the Minister of Trade; and finally to our Legation, where the Minister, Sir Richard Maconochie, has asked us to stay. It is a white house, dignified with pillars and furnished as it would be at home, without any mosquitonets or fans to remind one of the Orient. Christopher says he finds it peculiar to be in a room whose walls aren’t falling down. Opinion at the Legation agrees on the silliness of refusing the Russian diplomats in Kabul transit visas through India. Even if they go as far towards the frontier as Jelallabad, the Government of India sends in official complaints. The result is a sort of gentlemen’s agreement between the two Legations and the Afghan Government that the English shall not travel in the north of the country and the Russians in the south. That is why the authorities at Mazar could not allow us to the Oxus, though they would not admit such a reason lest it appear a limitation of their sovereignty. We were lucky to have got as close as we did, particularly as it appears that Haji Lai Mohammad, who bought the car, and our chauffeur Jamshyd Taroporevala, spread a tale that we were Secret Service agents engaged in map-making. Next time I do this kind of journey, I shall take lessons in spying beforehand. Since one has to put up with the disadvantages of the profession anyhow, one might as well reap some of its advantages, if there are any. British diplomacy in Kabul just now hangs on the Minister’s roses. At the King’s birthday party, on June 3rd, they were in full flower, and the Afghans, who are all rose-lovers, had never seen such big formal blooms. Next morning, visiting cards from the Minister of Court were fluttering from the finest trees; they had been left by his gardener in the night. Now all the other ministers want cuttings too, and are also in a turmoil over the peonies, which have been promised them for next year. Magnificent as the formal roses are, I yet prefer an Afghan tree which stands by the gate in front. It is fifteen feet high and covered with such a profusion of white blossoms that hardly a leaf is visible. “
Margot Robbie
There is a huge difference between real-life and reel life. The audience even can't imagine how different it had been and is that the lifetime of their favorite actor. the primary thing that clicks on people after seeing their beloved actors on the screen is that the stardom. One will see big cars, houses, bank accounts filled with cash, people hovering for the interviews, significant assignments, and lots more. it's obvious to think at a superficial level. Hey, local English major who has somehow never read Wilde in her life here, first of all I need to get on that but second of all I would love to hear more about your plot/ideas for the Lady Windermere's Fan prequel and how you got inspired for it! Your creativity never ceases to impress me, this project seems like so much fun.
Thank you so much for this, Macy! (And thank you for all your kind words, I really don’t deserve friends like you). And tagging @princess-of-france because writing projects (I hope you’re doing well!)
(Enjoy a Stephen Fry as Oscar Wilde gif…)
The Selby Roses is a working title for a prequel to one of Oscar Wilde’s comedy plays, Lady Windermere’s Fan, that I’ve been working on for roughly a month - the project has just begun, and the road will be long, but I’m excited to go on this journey with it!
Quickly before I get into The Selby Roses, I’ll give a quick synopsis of LWF if you’d like some context. On Lady Windermere’s 21st birthday, news is brought to her that for the past six months, her husband has been giving enormous sums of money to a mysterious woman by the name of Mrs. Erlynne. In a moment of desperation, her husband invites this woman to his wife’s birthday party. Is Lord Windermere having an affair? And how will the young Lady Windermere handle it if he were? In one dazzlingly disastrous night, our characters confront love, loss, lust, misguided intentions, confessions, drunken fights, and some terrible confusion about a particular fan. You can click here to see the cast of the 2018 Vaudeville production try and summarize it in under one minute!
A line in Act IV of LWF prompts the story of The Selby Roses: “Let us go to Selby. In the Rose Garden at Selby the roses are white and red.” A highly fond memory of Lady Windermere’s that reminds her of the root of her love for her husband, and thus sets the stage for our prequel play.
Set in the summer of 1888, The Selby Roses tells the story of the budding romance of Lord Arthur Hudson and Lady Margaret Kendal (our eventual Lord and Lady Windermere in LWF). The play begins the day of a country party out in the Windermere’s country home in Selby. Arthur’s father, having been diagnosed with a terminal illness, wishes to see his eldest son married before he dies. All is in order for Arthur’s courtship of the charming Lady Emma Carlisle, but a mysterious Lady Kendal arrives at the party and takes Arthur’s heart unexpectedly. However, Arthur is not the only one smitten by her, and even if she loves him in return, love isn’t their only obstacle. The night spins into one of chaos, a Victorian high-society Wars of the Roses where a woman’s heart becomes as valuable as a kingdom. Hearts will be won, lost, broken, but all is fair in love and war…
The main cast is as follows (I’ll indicate original canon characters vs new characters). I’m going to leave them under a cut so this post doesn’t get too long!
Women:
Lady Margaret Kendal (19 y/o) - (Lady Windermere in LWF). Invited by Alexander to the party without the permission of his parents. Bold, spirited, highly principled, although she is rather sheltered. She finds herself confused between several lovers who cross her path over the evening, but finds consolation in becoming friends with the other women.
Alice Hudson, Marchioness of Windermere (50s) - Arthur and Alexander’s mother, a good friend of the Duchess of Berwick. She intends for this courtship between Arthur and the Duchess’s daughter to go smoothly, but runs into several distractions set up by her sons and their friends. Witty, honest, somewhat overprotective and dotes on her boys. (prequel add-in: the line “you fancy because I have no father or mother that I am alone in the world, and that you can treat me as you choose” from Lady Windermere in the original play gave me the idea that Arthur has at least one living parent by the time LWF rolls around, unlike his wife.)
Lady Julia Kendal (40s) - Margaret’s aunt and governess. She has raised Margaret ever since the child was eight years old, raising her with Puritan ideals, hoping she’ll be different than her nearly scandalized parents. She comes to the party with Margaret, and wants her to stay away from the men, but love will have a way. (She is mentioned by Lady Windermere in LWF, but is never seen in that play).
Margaret Erlynne (late 30s/early 40s)- This infamous woman of LWF doesn’t appear until the end of The Selby Roses, clearly to make her intentions with the Windermere household in Oscar Wilde’s play, but also to recount on her past mistakes and regrets.
Laura Ford (early 20s) - (Lady Plymdale in LWF) University student in London, she attends the party on her own while her brother takes care of her ailing mother at home. She has been offered a proposal several times by Lord Albert Plymdale, but she finds her heart pining for the Byronic writer, George Dumby. It’s been like that for years, how could tonight possibly change anything? Bold, mature, incredibly smart, but her heart is absolutely aching.
Lady Beatrice Marley (20 y/o) - Arthur and Alexander’s cousin, Alice’s niece. She becomes a good acquaintance of the young Lady Kendal along with the other women of the play who help her go after the hopelessly lovestruck Arthur. She finds herself being chased around by Dumby, who finds her to be his new muse. Kind, sharp, with a charitable spirit. (An add-in. There was no particular line in the play that inspired her creation, but rather Dumby’s somewhat womanizing character and his relationship with Laura prompted me just as well.)
Arabella Carlisle, Duchess of Berwick (50s) - (Duchess of Berwick in LWF) Like Alice, she intends for the night to run smoothly and for Athur to make a proposal to her daughter by the end of the night. However, she gets caught up in the younger generation’s antics to turn that notion completely upside-down. Gossipy, somewhat of a control freak, highly talkative.
Emma Carlisle of Berwick (20 y/o) - The third youngest daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Berwick. She is the intended lover of Arthur Hudson. However, she finds herself falling more and more in love with his younger brother, Alexander. Over the course of the night, she must choose between love and honoring her parents’ wishes, all the while making sense of these obnoxious men and avoiding scandal. She is charming, highly attractive, a free-thinker, independent. (An add in: the line “but I think that a mother who doesn’t part with a daughter every season has no real affection” from the Duchess of Berwick in the original play inspired the idea to give the Duke and Duchess six wonderfully bright daughters, and one son who makes himself an intentional failure).
Ida Carlisle of Berwick (18 y/o) - The second youngest daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Berwick. The first of the women that Lady Kendal befriends. She is incredibly bright, catching on quite fully to the antics of the men (especially her own brother’s). (an add-in)
Men:
Arthur Hudson, 5th Marquess of Windermere (early 20s) - (Lord Windermere in LWF) This party is thrown so he may propose to the Duchess’s daughter by the end of the night, but he instead falls for Lady Kendal. He employs his godfather, Lord Augustus, and his best friend, Cecil Graham to create a distraction so that he is able to speak with her. He’s not the only one with the same plan. Tense, shy, nearly incapable of saying “no”. (Although most Victorian men don’t get married until their late 20s or early 30s, I decided to make Arthur younger as he is the only one of his friends in LWF who is married.)
Edward Hudson, 4th Marquess of Windermere (50s) - The elderly Lord Windermere who wishes to secure a future for his family line before he dies. He hopes that his son will choose Lady Carlisle, insisting that his wife be his son’s constant chaperone. Somewhat terrified for his own death, wants everything to be in control. (an add-in).
Alexander Hudson (early 20s) - Arthur’s younger brother by a year and a half. Alexander finds himself absolutely head over heels for Lady Carlisle, the woman that his brother is meant to be marrying. He employs Dumby and the young Henry Carlisle to help keep up a lie that he is someone else for the evening in order to avoid the Duchess, who would rather have her daughter marry anyone but him. Unlike his brother, Alexander is charming, outgoing, mischievous, and handsome beyond compare. (an add-in: Arthur is so incredibly worried all the time, I thought it would be funny to give him a brother who is his total opposite).
Gerard Kendal, 3rd Earl of Kendal (deceased - mentioned in name only) - Lady Kendal’s father. He committed suicide before the play began over the loss of his first wife, Margaret’s mother. His suicide was swept up by Lady Julia, his sister, to look like it came of natural causes, even though she knows the truth, she keeps it from Margaret to maintain reputation. (he is also mentioned in LWF, being the namesake for the Windermere’s son, and said by Margaret to have “really died of a broken heart”).
Cecil Graham (20s) - (same character in LWF) Employed by Arthur to keep his mother away from him, along with Lord Augustus. He is a member of the House of Commons, and a great friend of Arthur. The two went to Eton together as well as to Trinity College, Oxford. Gossipy, witty, thinks he knows more than he actually does.
George Dumby (late 20s) - (simply known as “Dumby” in LWF) Employed by the younger Hudson and by Lord Darlington to keep up two separate distractions. Finding the prospect amusing, he takes on the challenge. He also becomes tangled in his own love life, deciding to flirt with Lady Beatrice Marley while the true love of his life, Laura Ford, slips from his grasp. Having also met Arthur and Cecil at Oxford, Dumby is reimagined in this play as a writer with a Byronic complex, having come to high society through the success of his novels. He is adventurous, eloquent, mischievous, but also incredibly lost.
Lord Augustus Lorton (late 40s/early 50s) - (same character in LWF) Employed by his godson to distract his sister, the Duchess, from paying much attention to her daughter during the course of the evening, which works well in Alexander’s favor. A little slow, likes to indulge, but he always has good intentions.
George Carlisle, 3rd Duke of Berwick (50s) - (mentioned in LWF) His daughter, Emma, is intended to be married to Arthur Hudson. He is somewhat intimidating, tough, over-protective of his daughters’ reputations, feels somewhat emasculated because he has a poor excuse for an heir.
Henry Carlisle of Berwick (early 20s) - The only son of the Duke and Duchess of Berwick, Henry has taken to a life of indulgence and riot. He attends Magdalen College, Oxford. He is employed by Alexander Hudson to keep up a lie about his identity for the night, and he is also employed by Lord Darlington to keep Lady Julia distracted, only adding to the game of antics for the night, which is highly appealing to him. Incorrigible, riotous, the youngest man in the play, somewhat of a follower. (he is mentioned as the Duchess’s son in LWF, but not given a name, so took liberty to do so).
John Vernon, 13th Baron of Darlington (late 20s) - (Lord Darlington in LWF) A good friend of Arthur’s, having met him the previous summer through a mutual friend. Believing that Arthur is meant to be wooing Lady Carlisle, John pursues Lady Kendal, but finds himself against Lady Julia. He employs Dumby and Henry Carlisle to keep her distracted. Never takes himself seriously, except around those that he cares about. Somewhat of a casanova.
Taylor (40s-60s) - Lord Windermere’s valet. He is able to catch on quite well to Alexander and Arthur’s affections and decides to aid on his own for the cause of love, at the possible risk to his reputation and his job. Polite, gentle, knows what’s right and what’s wrong. (an add-in: his eventual replacement is Parker from LWF).
And that’s it for now! I’ve got a couple of excerpt posts drafted, so I will share those in due time! I hope you enjoyed, or were at least mildly amused :) Thank you for your constant support! Best wishes:)
hi angels! im bee, 20, a general mess... u get the picture. this is hugo and he’s... idk what he is but he’s my baby :))) this is really long so you the best if you read it in full && as always my discord is the uk's weird farmer cousin#1697 if y’all want speedy replies for plotting !
tw: death & drug use.
( xavier serrano, cismale, he/him, twenty-two ) — have you seen hugo talbot, the history and politics student around oxford yet ? i hear they can be acerbic and meticulous, but those who know them insist they’re reminded of driving too fast on an empty road, the whipping wind in a thunderstorm, cashmere turtlenecks & worn poetry books when they’re around. rumour has it that his parents died during the execution of an insurance scam. is it true ? only time will tell…
FULL NAME: hugo byron talbot DATE OF BIRTH: november 3rd, 1996 PARENTS: gregory talbot & marianne cunard-talbot NATIONALITY: english IMPORTANT LINKS: statistics & pinterest.
BACKSTORY
hugo was born on november 3rd, ironically the same day as his mother’s birthday, born twenty-six years apart. marianne cunard-talbot was, to put it bluntly, not the motherly type. her own mother left her and her father when she was one, and since kenneth cunard had no other possible heir to the family business ( and fortune, mind ) the proverbial crown was laid on her brow. with no mother figure in her life, it seemed the capabilities escaped her, as they escaped her husband too. gregory talbot, as a second son to a wealthy family, had little to inherit but a mind for business. when they met at cambridge, both studying literature, in the eighties it wasn’t a match made in heaven, it wasn’t love at first sight, but they made a good team — it was enough. two more children followed after hugo, and while they lacked a significant amount of guidance from their own parents ( or any sort of guidance at all, really ), they made do with themselves. while hugo and his siblings stayed in london, his parents continued to live in southampton where the headquarters for cunard corporation was, and let the nannies that they’d hired handle the raising of their kids. the lack of supervision and general parenting only served to create an air of entitlement around hugo. he knew from a young age that he was going to be an important man when he grew up, that he would be a powerful man. it was only enforced by the fact that when marianne and gregory would visit it was mainly to nitpick at their children, enquire after their grades and ensure that nobody was stepping out of line. at thirteen hugo had to leave his siblings behind to attend eton. despite the fact he would return every weekend he still felt the separation from his siblings keenly, they had after all barely been apart for their whole lives. on his first day at eton, he tripped over someone else’s suitcase as he exited his car, and when he turned to angrily confront the owner of the case, he came face to face with thomas. they became fast friends despite the fact that hugo couldn’t help but remember, and wish to rebel against, his parents wish for him to befriend the heir to the throne. the tom he knew wasn’t the crown prince, but rather the boy who had never been allowed his own freedom, a boy who was only just beginning to discover who he was without his parents telling him who he had to be. by the time hugo was sixteen, and tom seventeen, both had begun to dabble in illicit substances. their reasons were different of course, but it wasn’t as if they necessarily needed reasons to get high and pretend they weren’t going to have the weight of the world on their respective shoulders in ten years. but while hugo usually kept sober unless there was a party, tom seemed to want to spend his time being perpetually high. it was easy to ignore it, his best mate seemed happier after he’d done a few lines, but he also seemed flirtier. tom had come out almost immediately after they’d met, and it was like all the weight had lifted off of his shoulders, sharing his secret with another person seemed to help him immensely. hugo couldn’t say when he began to realise that tom had a crush on him, maybe it was from the very moment they’d met, but throughout the years it started to become abundantly clear. at a friend’s twenty-first birthday party he still felt completely blindsided when tom got high and wasted, and then tried to convince hugo to sleep with him.
he was eighteen when his parents passed away, it was strange to him because despite their lack of presence it always felt like they were hovering nearby, just waiting for him to mess up, or for his brother or sister to, so they could blame him. it was an accident they said, something went wrong on one of the ships and unfortunately, it took his parents with him when it sunk. his grandfather pulled him aside at the funeral to tell him what happened, he claimed it was hugo's right now, considering once he left university, it was all his. he told hugo about how the cunard fleet was losing more money that it was making, how there was a plan to sink the least valuable to bring in more money, to supplement the loss of money. he told hugo how the plan went awry and the ship didn't sink when it was meant to on its return from australia, and when they went to inspect the ship and why it didn't go down, it sank with them on it. the money was still going to be beneficial to the company, and now the insurance company would be hard pressed to believe that the ship was tampered with, considering who was aboard. the secret had to be kept, he was going to have to keep it for his whole life if he valued his handle on the company and their resulting wealth. it was hard, losing his parents and being burdened with such a secret. his only solace was tom, who didn't know what it was to lose family, but understood what it was like to feel so disconnected.
he would never admit it to his best friend, hell, he’d never admit it out loud, period, but while his mate had been harbouring feelings for him, hugo had a crush of his own. tom’s sister eleanor was quiet around him, he wasn’t sure they’d ever really had a proper conversation and yet every time he caught sight of her when he’d visit tom his heart would kick up and his palms would sweat. it all came to a head when, at tom’s cousin’s twenty-first birthday, he rescued nora from a handsy party-goer and began seeing her in secret, namely so tom wouldn’t find out. their relationship was easy enough to hide, he would stay with tom and sneak off to eleanor’s room once he’d passed out, she would arrive at his door with a hermès scarf to shield her face and hair from those who might recognise her. by the time it had become abundantly clear to the both of them that it was a completely serious relationship and decided that it was time to go public and share their news with tom, and scheduled a press conference ( because an instagram debut was awfully uncouth ), they’d been together for almost a year and a half.
with the press conference scheduled for the monday after their respective birthdays, and having resolved to sit down to dinner on sunday with eleanor’s family to tell them the truth, both hugo and eleanor went into the weekend confident and happy. tragedy was never far away though, it always seemed to loom on the horizon. after a wild saturday night, tom and hugo found themselves back at buckingham palace, hugo drunk and tom exceptionally high. a quick slip of the tongue ( “ god i’m going to regret this in the morning, nora’s going to kick my ass if i go back to her in this state. ” ), had him thinking he’d ruined everything before nora could present her arguments to her family. instead, tom gave his blessing and sent hugo off to his sister to enjoy the rest of his birthday. he’d thought it was the best weekend of his life, he went home to get ready for dinner and was interrupted by his phone ringing — it was the phone call that he felt turning his life upside down. his girlfriend told him how the maid came to wake him, he was late for breakfast, she shook him and he didn’t wake up. a heart attack, nora told him. the press conference planned for them was used to announce his best friend’s death, the best weekend of his life so quickly turned into the worst.
CURRENTLY
hugo is still trying to work through losing tom, he’s not about to admit to anyone that losing someone who he’d just assumed would be there for… well, forever, was taken so quickly. it also impeded the announcement for his and eleanor’s relationship and forced them back into the dark when they’d been preparing to be able to not sneak around, and now they’re back to where they were before.
PERSONALITY
POSITIVE TRAITS: astute, meticulous, loyal NEGATIVE TRAITS: acerbic, calculating, imperious hugo is, above all else, extremely sharp. when it comes to people it usually takes approximately a sentence to leave their mouth before he's made his judgement on them. this also applies to his schoolwork and actual work ( on the occasion that his grandfather requires another set of trusted eyes ). in all things he does he is exceptionally precise, mostly a result of the scrutiny he faced with his parents expecting every move to be absolutely perfect. above all else, and probably the trait he would tell a person he possesses, he is extremely loyal, mostly to his family. there are few people he would go to the ends of the earth for and without a doubt his siblings are the first two ( and eleanor ). he was never raised to be soft, he was raised to run a multi-billion dollar corporation, and as such he never learnt to edge his words with honey, his words always tend to sound as if they have an edge to them, almost confrontational. if a person knows him well enough, they would understand that he usually means nothing by it, he doesn't care enough about most people for it to mean anything. when approaching any situation, his cunning is one thing he has no problem in using, it's often little more than a means to an end as long as it benefits him or someone he cares about. he also has a habit of coming across as quite pompous, he's lived a life where he hasn't ever wanted for anything, everything is served up on a silver platter. as such his view of the world is also quite skewed and his knowledge of simple things like grocery shopping is nonexistent. it makes him come off as conceited and haughty, once the layers are peeled back he is definitely a different person, alas he's hard pressed to let anyone close enough to see him.
PLOTS
okay, i'm definitely spitballing because connections for him are genuinely hard, i can almost guarantee that while i don't think he makes enemies, he's certainly not making friends with many people. he's probably friendly with most people in the riot club, but nowhere close to someone he actually considers a close friend. in saying that, here are a list of connections i can see, but i'm so happy to brainstorm some fun things up !
close friends ( 0/2 ) — would have also been close to tom, and i imagine each of them brought a different dynamic/layer to the group ( for instance i definitely think tom was hooking up with one of their mates ). past hookups ( 0/? ) — obviously he isn't hooking up with anyone right about now but i definitely think he was a bit of a fuccboi before eleanor. childhood friends ( 0/1 ) — hugo never really got out much as a child, but when he did it was usually with this character, their parents were likely friends of his own parents and thus, this character would have been ' approved '. party friends ( 0/2 ) — i imagine that these two were the ones who helped him get through tom's death where eleanor couldn't, he had, and still has, a lot of frustration regarding his friend's passing and i can see him just wanting to go out, drink far too much and forget about things for a little while. riot friends ( 0/? ) — he's not very... chummy with many people, but considering everyone in the riot club are of a similar calibre, he definitely feels more comfortable calling most people in riot more than acquaintances.
Arcadia, 8th viewing!
SuperFan talked me into going back tonight, even though we didn’t have tickets. We showed up an hour early (she was actually even earlier than that, but the lobby opens an hour before showtime and that’s when the waitlist starts), and found out at the last minute that we had gotten in. I was given a seat on stage left, a few seats over from where I was the 3rd time I saw it. [spoilers below]
While the performance overall wasn’t as transcendent as yesterday’s (I didn’t end up with quite as many ideas and thoughts whirling around my head), I still found it really moving.
I had hoped to be seated on stage right, but actually my seat was pretty good: I had a perfect view of Septimus and Thomasina when he gave her the candle after teaching her to waltz, and I therefore cried from the end of their first dance to the end of the play.
I noticed something I hadn’t seen before about the costumes--I’m pretty sure that the jacket Bernard puts on for the Regency costume dance is the one Mr. Chater was wearing in the first half of the play... which seems appropriate, somehow. Both are somewhat ridiculous men! Whereas Valentine’s Regency costume is more similar to how Septimus dresses--fittingly, since he’s the modern-day scientist, intellectual heir to Septimus and Thomasina.
Also, when Hannah first sees the Coverly siblings dressed for the dance, she remarks “You all look so romantic!” in a positive tone of voice--which, given her earlier lament about “The decline from thinking to feeling” is an interesting development. I don’t fully agree with the essay I read that argued that Hannah’s learning to balance reason with emotion is the main point of the play--the essay made it sound as if her rejections of Bernard and Valentine were somehow a symptom of something wrong with her, when nothing could be less attractive than Bernard’s arrogance and patronising attitude. And Valentine is rather young for her, though I suppose a similar age difference didn’t stop Lady Croom from having a relationship with Septimus... But I do agree that Hannah finding that balance is important.
That leaves me wondering which of the characters in the 1809 timeline has a similar arc. At 13, Thomasina complains about Cleopatra being too much motivated by love. Three years later, although she chatters about her crush on Lord Byron and her obsession with waltzing, she also (casually) makes an astonishing scientific breakthrough, and appears utterly heartbroken when her mother tells her that her education is over. Thinking and feeling seem to have approximately equal importance to her at this point. But on the eve of her 17th birthday, when she falls in love with Septimus, it seems she goes a little too far in the emotional direction, resulting in the fire that kills her. One assumes that Hannah will not suffer a similar fate.
Still. The heart of the play is Septimus and Thomasina, and in this production, I think Septimus is a somewhat more sympathetic character than in other productions I’ve seen, which made him a little more sarcastic. He does have a certain amount of snarkiness in him, but it needs to be tempered with tenderness. Because the point is, he is a good person. There’s a very clear parallel and contrast between him and Bernard, and it’s clear that Septimus is the better man. Bernard is dismissive of Hannah’s first book--despite the fact that her research seems to be much more rigorous than his. In contrast, Septimus has nothing but respect for Thomasina’s scientific ideas about the heat equation. Bernard also flirts with both Chloe and her mother, who are both smitten with him--and he ends up having a brief affair with Chloe, who is 20 years his junior. Septimus, meanwhile, does fall in love with both mother and daughter, but it’s not just based on their attraction to him, and while his affair with Lady Croom probably lasts a couple of years, he actually refuses Thomasina’s invitation to come to her room, even though the age difference in their case is much less egregious (particularly for that era) and even though he is now in love with her. So, yes.
In about 11 hours I will be back at the theatre, trying to be at the top of the waitlist for the closing performance.
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child - Broadway, Part 1
I decided to split my review into two parts because it's going to be long and because at least two people are waiting for it and I don’t want them to wait any longer. The first part is general thoughts about the theatre, the audience and actors. The second part will be a detailed description of many scenes, with main focus on changes introduced on Broadway. I'm going to post the second part in a few days. Hopefully.
3rd of June and 7th/8th of June 2018
The Lyric Theatre: I'm going to start this review with my thoughts about the Lyric Theatre. It's beautiful, it's huge and it's comfortable. There's much more space than in the Palace Theatre and many cosy sofas where you can sit before the show or during the interval. I loved them and it's something they should implement in the Palace. The auditorium is bigger than in London and it really looks like there aren't any truly bad seats (like balcony seats or seats in front of the pillar in the Palace). The front rows are much closer to the stage. I sat in row B and it felt like row AA/BB in the Palace. There's no room between the stage and the first row and people sitting there were touching the stage with their knees. The stage is also bigger and I felt that sometimes it was too big for this play. Also, the auditorium in the Palace feels cozier, more intimate. And there's no question which theatre looks better from the outside. The Palace wins every time, even with roadworks in front of it. Oh, and the queue to women's restrooms in the Lyric during the interval was ridiculous. Keep that in mind and quickly leave the auditorium if you need to use the bathroom.
Audience: Merlin, the Americans are so loud and expressive! They clap and cheer every time an old character (Harry, Dumbledore, even Myrtle) appears on stage. They clap after certain scenes, like wand dance, Death Eaters dance or scene with Scorpius and Snape. The only time British audience claps during the play is when Scorpius restores the time and Albus appears in the lake. They laugh at moments I've never heard people laugh at before. For me it was too distracting, too loud. And why, why!, people eat and drink in the theatre?! I understand eating in the cinema, music and sound effects are loud enough to drown the rustling. But in the theatre you can hear every tiny noise and rustle. I lost count on how many sweets children in front of me ate. And the man next to me drank a strong liquor at the beginning of Part 2. It's really not nice to sit next to a person who reeks of strong alcohol for three hours. All in all, I prefer a more reserved and restrained British audience.
Stage door: it was well organised, there were more people than in London but everyone was polite and well-behaved. It rained heavily during the first stage door but despite the bad weather thirteen actors came out. Sadly, only Paul and Poppy from the main seven. I decided to go on Tuesday as well, after my trip to Philadelphia, and it was a good decision because apart from Paul and Poppy, Noma, Sam and Anthony came out. On Friday only Paul, Sam and Anthony met the fans but I was satisfied because I managed to talk with them for a bit longer, thank Sam for replying to my letter last year and wish Anthony a happy birthday. Of course, a lot of other actors came out every time and they were all very kind. No luck again with meeting Jamie. xD
New actors: I liked new actors, except for Geraldine Hughes who plays McGonagall. I know a lot of people says she has a terrible accent but I'm not the one to judge that. But she was bad overall, she said her lines like she was reading a book, everything in the same tone of voice, no emotions, no nuances. I liked a lot Edward Hyland who plays Amos and Dumbledore and Byron Jennings (Snape/Voldemort), though he's not as good as David Annen. Jessie Fisher was great, though only on the second visit I started to like her Delphi. Her Delphi seems much older than the others I've seen. She has a very deep voice and I think her voice was the main thing in her performance that put me off in the beginning. In Part 1 she's funny, adorable, kind and confident. In Part 2 she's truly terrifying and insane but in a different way than Esther or Annabel. It's hard to describe that difference but I'll try. Esther and Annabel were mad and evil but in a kind of beautiful, even sexy way, while Jessie's Delphi's insanity is ugly, but very humane. There's nothing kind or beautiful left in her. And while I still prefer Esther and Annabel, I think Jessie is brilliant and made Delphi really her own. She also has a great chemistry with the boys.
Main seven: they were the reason I flew to NYC and they didn't disappoint. It was so good to see them all again and they all still remain my favourite actors in their respective roles. (I haven’t seen the cast three yet so it may change. But I doubt it.) Jamie, Alex, Noma and Paul were as amazing as in London, their performances didn't change much. Poppy and Sam - I don't know what it was, I'm unable to point specific things in their performances, but they were even better than in London. I always adored them, I'm in love with Sam's Albus, and watching their beautiful portrayals of Ginny and Albus, making them even better than before, brought me an immense joy and happiness.
Anthony Boyle: I wouldn't have made a separate part about Anthony's Scorpius if it hadn't been for a few reviews saying how much his Scorpius has changed. People reported that his Scorpius wasn't what he used to be, that they missed old Scorpius and all that made me scared and anxious that I wasn't going to like Anthony on Broadway, that his Scorpius would be completely different. But for me he hasn't changed much. Anthony started to play Scorpius differently (he was more serious, calmer) towards the end of London run (I noticed the difference in March compared to shows I saw in January). It wasn't a big difference but it was noticeable (I saw the play for the first time in November so maybe he started changing his performance earlier and the difference was bigger for people who saw him in the very beginning). I liked this slight change but was afraid that on Broadway he was even more quiet, calm, serious. But he wasn't. Anthony's Scorpius is still the Scorpius I fell in love with. He's awkward, funny, fidgety, he still speaks in this specific, squeaky voice, sometimes so high and quick that you can barely understand him, he still wraps himself in his robes, he tucks his hair behind ears, he rubs his eyes. Everything I remembered from London is still there. He speaks a bit slower, so Americans can understand his accent, I guess, but so does Jamie. I don't know why people wrote that he had changed so much. Maybe I suck at noticing differences and nuances in the performances, maybe Anthony started to play Scorpius the way he used to in London once he relaxed and knew that Broadway liked his Scorpius. Either way, I'm overjoyed that I could once again see my Scorpius. And connection and chemistry between Sam's Albus and Anthony's Scorpius is as strong as always. They are perfect together.
Otome Birthdays List
As promised, here’s the full list of birthday days. It’s not an exhaustive list as I plan on adding more as I play more otomes in the future and as more information comes out for various games.
Just as a reminder, I go by what Wikipedia, official websites (Idea Factory International, Otomate, Aksys, etc) and creator websites and pages (dicesuki, DateNighto, etc), tell me as their canon birthdays. If I’ve got the wrong information, then I’ll do my best to update the information for future reference.
I’ve also added in protagonists’ birthdays, if it’s known (like Lucette and Avery), along with some side characters if they have a known birthday (not all side characters, however, because, as of this writing and according to Code: Realize’s wiki, Saint Germain, Guinevere, and Leonhardt all have the same birthday, and I don’t think I’m prepared to handle that many at once).
**Hakuoki birthdays, the creators have stated, are based on the real life counterpart’s birth dates. Unfortunately, since keeping records of one’s birth in Japan didn’t really start happening until about 100 years after the time Hakuoki is supposed to take place, some birth dates are lost to time and no one knows the date, which is why you don’t see Okita, Heisuke, Harada, etc on here. Characters like Kazama and the demons who were created for the story do not have canonical birthday as they are fictional and have not been given a birth date either.
EDIT: I changed Sakamoto’s to reflect the correct date (it’s the lunisolar date (where the majority of the Hakuoki birthdays fall upon). If anyone wants me to make a separate post explaining about the lunisolar dates, I’d be more than happy to make one).
**August 17th is added as ‘Mod Day’ as that is my birthday. I’ll be spamming with my personal favorite baes, but you are more than welcome to leave things in my inbox!
**I’m considering making another dedicated day in July, however, since Waltz is looking a little lonely there by himself. No promises, but we’ll see what’s up when July rolls around.
And now, onto the list! Have fun, lovelies!
heya! it’s okay! it isn’t dumb. don’t put your ideas down by opening with “this might be dumb” haha. anyway, i guess i do have almost 3000 posts and it’s hard to know all the stuff that i’ve posted but i’ve always reiterated that same thing whenever people ask me for favorite routes and characters or least favorite characters, or even when i comment about stories and events. ♡
wall of text under the cut! but very important~ (˘∀˘)
i never bash a character. i have never done it and i post about all of them equally whenever an event comes along / whenever i redo a route. i make jokes about all of them tho-- not even byron is safe from my horrible jokes.
but i always say when i don’t like the story or writing-- mine are based on valid points not emotion tho. plus it’s not isolated to just one character. even byron’s stories are included and everyone knows i love him. ( ˙꒳˙ )♡
i understand how it feels to have your favorite character bashed. like i always think, even if i don’t like something, other people might like it, so it’s not my place to ruin it for them! not once have i ever said i hate this character or that character because i like them all in general. i only judge the story and writing whenever i do comment. i recently answered an ikesen ask like that too. ✿
for the 3rd anon, i actually like midcin a lot haha. it’s really just alyn’s route (c/o the story and his mc) that turns some people off but really, it works for others. it’s nearly impossible to get a 10/10 for a game, so not liking one or two routes is fine. give the game another chance! try nico or albert! i always tell people who are new to midcin to not judge the game based on the first 3 routes. alyn, louis, and giles were the first 3 routes so the writing is a bit different. i mean midcin is 5 years old! (´ ε ` )
i wanted to cite some examples but i’m really tired so this post and this post are the most recent i can think of. see the comments! haha the wysterian guard has been a running joke because of how many times the princess has been kidnapped but at least you can see in the comments that people felt bad for alyn always being written like that for the sake of drama in the stories. the mc for alyn is usually the problem for people-- and valid points are made. don’t worry, anon! there’s no hate for any suitor here~ plus i wouldn’t waste my money buying all the suitors’ premiums, after episodes, and birthday stories if i disliked any of them. i get all of them not just byron’s. (^_−)☆
there’s a reason alyn is still the poster boy for midcin. his story and his mc work for other people who play the game. i guess the majority prefer stories like that! (*notes how many anime series there are with a weak, ditzy but kind-hearted heroine that everyone likes*) like he’s still really popular that he’s remained in the top 10 for cybird’s general election. this is vs all the other new games, so it’s really a feat. ( ❛ᴗ❛ )
#asks#anon#midnight cinderella#i have no control over other people tho lol#like some may say they hate this or that#all i can do is explain#objectivity!#i assumed this was about my post re: alyn's event story mc#character hate
