Hell hath no fury like an agility trainer told their sport is easier than obedience/protection sports.
#but the dogs can be on leash for obedience sports! they say forgetting that that is not true for more than half of even rally#But you need control in high arousal! they say forgetting that protection phase even exists#it's not to say that agility is easier to be a champion at#but it does have a beginner appeal and is relatively self-reinforcing for a drivey dog#so my point was that it is not a sport that many people start in with good control on their dogs like obedience or protection sports#and that it is often because the environment and training style puts less pressure on the handler to have as much precision or control#I'm a newbie at agility#but I can say that even at the foundation level the dogs are allowed more leeway to be silly and less precise and intense#so the full sport might even be harder but oh boy do agility people have big opinions about it being the god tier sport
