Favorite fictional ship, and reasons?

Okay, I've been in various fiction fandom spaces since I was like 12, and while I'm not as much of a shipper as I used to be, I still have a fair few. So here's a medley of various favourites off the top of my head.

- Lumity (Luz Noceda and Amity Blight) from the Owl House.

Because. Obviously. They're adorable. No matter what part of the show you're watching (except maybe the very beginning when Amity was still Generic Mean Girl), they're a great ship. Yeah it's an obvious pick, but they're popular for a reason, dammit! And to be honest, I miss the Little Miss Perfect era (iykyk).

- Dipcifica (Dipper Pines and Pacifica Northwest) from Gravity Falls.

Mostly if not entirely because of nostalgia. also I rewatched the show over summer so I have it on my mind rn. Even though it's only teased in one episode (and a few canon tie-in material like the journal and Lost Legends), it's still cute. They were probably one of my first ever ships, so Kid Me was right about at least one thing!

- Paulkins (Paul Matthews and Emma Perkins) from the Hatchetfield musicals, specifically The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals.

God, these two give me life. They have so much bi4bi energy it's not even funny. They pick up each others' vocal stims ("okay. okay. okay.") Neither of them are particularly happy or nice people but something about them just SPARKS. They're so perfect for each other that even their evil doppelgangers end up together in another universe. You grow to love them so much that the ending of TGWDLM, while being an absolute banger, never stops hurting no matter how many times you rewatch it.

- Bispearl (Bismuth and Pearl) from Steven Universe.

Another nostalgic ship! I gravitated towards these two the SECOND they were on screen together, and continued to ship them all the way to the end of SU and beyond. (I still remember right after Bismuth Casual aired and everyone lost their minds, and all us Bispearl OGs were just. so happy. we were RIGHT AND NOW IT'S AT LEAST SEMI-CANON, HELL YEAH)

- Percabeth (Percy Jackson and Annabeth Chase) from the Riordanverse

And another nostalgic ship. Need I give a reason for the absolute ship paragon that is Percabeth? "The world was collapsing and all that mattered was that she was alive"? The underwater kiss? Them going to Literal Actual Hell and back together? These two are perfect for each other and I will hear no arguments. Also PJO TV SERIES COMES OUT IN DECEMBER IM SO EXCITED

the end was very predictable and i pretty much already knew halfway through the movie what was gonna happen. but it still was quite thrilling and I did enjoy watching it

hell yes, one of my favourite marvel movies. Wanda and Pietro.. Hawkeye.. all the little jokes throughout the entire movie and of course the scene where everyone tries to lift thor’s hammer, what’s not to love about this movie

In 2024 a pandemic ravages the world and it’s cities. Centering a handful of people as they naviagete the obstacles currently hindering society: disease, marital law, quarantine, and vigilantes.

I really enjoyed watching this. yeah sure, the ending was obvious but I was still glued to the screen. I also felt super weird watching this, kinda surreal because we are basically living a more harmless version of this rn. I really liked seeing sofia carson in such a movie, I’ve only seen her in the descendants so this was a bit of a change haha. I’m not that big of a fan of kj but he was great as well and i really loved his characters style.

6. star trek

The brash James T. Kirk tries to live up to his father’s legacy with Mr. Spock keeping him in check as a vengeful Romulan from the future creates black holes to destroy the Federation one planet at a time.

I put it on because I wanted to have some background noise while playing sims but I ended up playing like 20 minutes and then just watching the movie haha I forgot how good it was, and the others as well, aaand I totally forgot carl urban was in it, so that was a little surprise. anyways, can recommend watching them if you’re into sci-fi action movies but at the same time, if you’re into that I’m pretty sure you’ve already watched them.

bonus: I also watched star trek beyond the other day but this time I was barely paying attention so I can't really say too much, but it's also quite good👍🏻

A group of teens discover secret plans of a time machine, and construct one. However, things start to get out of control.

okay... I did enjoy watching it! the beginning was a little slow imo but then it just got more and more intense which was kinda nice. god, at some point the main guy kept making the wrong decisions and that was very frustrating to watch. the ending was alright, spoiler ahead (I guess) I would have liked the ending more if it was the exact same as the beginning, meaning that the movie is just one big time loop and the events from the movie were about to repeat themselves. but that's just my opinion🤷🏻‍♀️

another one of my favorite mcu movies. it's just fun and easy and doesn't have a lot of pain in it. the giant ant it's my favorite part haha I want it as a pet

Set in the year 2092 and follows the crew of a space junk collector ship called The Victory. When they discover a humanoid robot named Dorothy that's known to be a weapon of mass destruction, they get involved in a risky business deal.

I really loved this movie. I cried like 6 times haha, which came unexpected. (or maybe it's because I'm suppose to get my period any day now) I did not think I was going to enjoy this movie as much as I did, at all. it was fun, it was exciting, it was sad (even my dad said that) the plot was good, the visual effects were amazing, it did feel like I was watching this movie for like 5 hours but not in a bad way and I am now kinda emotionally attached to the characters haha (I might do a rewatch). another thing I really liked was the language/synchronization. in the original version they speak mostly korean and english but also some other languages and it's the same in the synchronizations. the dialogue of the main characters is in the language you pick but every other character (I guess) is a different language and I absolutely love that. I highly recommend watching this!!

also, its was super weird seeing Richard Armitage not as a dwarf hahaha

I binged the series the other day and after the last episode this movie was in the "watch next" thingy idk and I thought "well, why not" and watched it. good movie, definitely!! I really liked that they didn't show the highs of doing heroin but focused on the negative effects it has on someone and what it's doing to your body. it is a super realistic but very very dark movie. the actors were all about 15/16 years old and looked very young which was a good and kinda disturbing thing because christiane and her friend were like 13/14 when that all happened and it made you realise that there were kids doing all that stuff

I am tired and don't really want to say all that much other than both of them are very good and I do like them. good action/adventure movies. can definitely recommend them. I definitely like the first one more because it feels like (just a little bit) that the main story in the second one is the same as in the first one, someone creates a new dinosaur species to make more money and something goes terribly wrong along the way. but it's still entertaining!

Med Rewatch Series (#3)

Let’s see what we have on the slate. this should be the premiere of s3: Speak Your Truth. I am watching this during school, so let’s see how bad my focus is.

-the episode description is “The shooting of Dr. Charles moves to the courtroom and things turn complicated for the doctors and nurses of Chicago Med.” so still on brand for being all sorts of vague.

-all that really says is more sarah angst so big sad

-connor running towards charles on the guerney screaming “what the hell happened!?” and sharon just being “he got shot.” is so fucking hilarous to me i have no clue why

-oh god i remember how much it bothered me that connor changed his hair from the end of s2 to the start of s3 lol (bc it’s supposed to be the same night, but yk, nitpicking)

-the time jump is such an interesting choice. i remember it was jarring at first. i’m sure i’ll have more to say as the episode goes on

AND CONNORS STILL PLAYED AS AN UNDERDOG BC AVA TOOK HIS SURGERY! HOW. infuriating

-anyway, for the purposes of the theory ava is capable enough to hold her own as a stand alone, and clever enough to be entertaining

And I'm just actually going to go ALL IN on my own because I know I'll get asked like two of these tops and god knows I love ask games...

1) I think my first one was Vincent and the Doctor unless I'm mixing it up with my friend's first ever episode?? I totally remember catching just a single episode on TV at some point and then much later being mighty surprised it was what later became my most favourite show of all times lmao (although if you count spin-offs I used to LOVE K-9 before I even caught a whiff of Doctor Who's existence which kinda makes it feel like destiny; it took me a while to learn what a spin-off even was, so I'm pretty sure I've figured out it was this way after I've seen the entire show, probably altogether with the classic series - not sure if I watched them before or after all the spin-offs)

2) Season one, with Nine. I'm a diligent person, when I watch something, I take it from the top. On the note, my 12 yo self had a really hard time figuring out why the fuck he was ninth when, you know, it's the first season...

3) Boy does this question have a lot of answers. It used to be Ten, I feel like everyone's fav Doctor used to be Ten at some point, although when I look back at it I can't really see what's so endearing about this repeatedly kicked puppy who's now making a fucking comeback (#bringpertweeback) but he's the reason I now wear exclusively converse in the summer. Also, now most of RTD's plot decisions make me seriously cringe. Doesn't exactly add bonus points.

Then, it used to be Seven, and I have no idea why, maybe I just like comic relief characters (which he was, in a way, in the beginning), but he also was pretty damn dark. Also, I can barely remember what his episodes where about. Although Human Nature is probably one of my favourite DW books, actually.

I also like Twelve... He's just such a nice old-but-young guy going through different phases and then ending up being so tender and just nice, y'know. Also I love his era, especially the last season, so yeah.

4) Six, actually! Or so it used to be. Because of his ahem violent episodes with attempts to strangle poor Perry. But really, at this point there aren't really any Doctors I dislike, I feel more or less the same way about all of them, which is to say, I love them.

Except Eight. Actually, fuck Eight just for bringing romance to Doctor Who. Go to romance jail. Bonk.

5) 👏 stop 👏 romancing 👏 the 👏 Doctor 👏 I shit you not it was such a relief they didn't have any romantic storylines with Twelve (apart from Missy's kiss, which was hilarious, and River, which is duuuh she's his wife and it was purely platonic and wholesome). Snogging in every single corner gets old SO FUCKING FAST. Like, in the classic series the only romance was between companions and it is I think the most often-occurring reason they left the Doctor if memory serves (source: Whoology, there's a spreadsheet, I don't have it on me rn), and it was GREAT. Like Missy said in some episode, they're fucking Time Lords, not animals, they're alien, they don't have love and shit as a concept, they basically grow new Gallifreyans in a lab. As an ace I feel like making the Doctor have a whole fuckload of constantly changing romantic interests (ahem ten ahem) is just soooo weird and unnecessary, especially considering how it happened literally overnight (the night in question is the night Eight spent in the morgue yeah). And like..... I'm okay with the Doctor feeling stuff, like they did with Twelve and River, like it was actually wholesome, but jfc stop kissing everyone you see who are you captain Jack Harkness?? I'm still unsure of what to feel about Tasmin or whatever their ship is called, but so far I'm liking how the Doctor said she "doesn't really do that", good food, great angst, suck it shippers and stick your porn art as deep up your asses as it can go.

6) Classic who!!! Okay I know that I would probably more likely go rewatch something from nu-who if I have a spare minute, but that's only because there are no stories that last twelve fucking episodes. But classic who is just so good and so iconic, despite low budget, despite cinematographic conventions of the time, despite a whole lot of episodes being lost to time, despite literally everything it remains an amazing show made with love, evolving over time, with its own entire galaxy being established over the course of like 25 years... Can you tell I whore a thesis on it? I did. And I will write my master's on it if they allow me.

7) Why do I feel like I know where this question comes from? Hmmm one arrogant Doctor who didn't want to go or the other?.. Four has a pretty good story, but by jove there's a lot of him. Ten gets minus hundred points for making a pointless comeback and I don't give a shit about what they say it used to be my fav Doctor too okay but this is the third time the Doctor has this face over sixteen total faces which is WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK YOU KNOW. And if they ruin Donna's storyline where EXPLICITLY said she can't be involved with the Doctor or she would very literally fucking DIE from her brain exproling or whatever, and it's very much looking like they're doing exactly that (sorry! I've been pissed at role-players wishing to play Donna who has miraculously regained her full memories with no reprecussions for like nine years now! Give me a fucking break!)

SO ANYWAY now that I am thoroughly wound up, I'm choosing Four over Ten, although I just about equally don't care for them.

8) Ooof I think Thirteen, actually! I love the aesthetics. I think it's actually the one outfit I'd genuinely love to get my hands on to wear casually if it didn't cost so much while actually not being good quality 🥲 (in the meantime, I had a Ten-inspired blue suit for school uniform with red converse bc it's like the easiest shit to come by). But I also like the EXCESSIVE outfits. Six. The audacity. Seven. The question marks all over the place. Four. The bloody scarf (my favourite thing in my wardrobe actually when I got it my mum had to pry it from my hands bc I wanted to wrap myself up for the night)

9) Nine's. I mean, I get where he's coming from, it's just plain and boring af, and after all the previous Doctors, c'mon!

10) Ace! Love the let's-explode-shit energy. Best companions for a pacifist such as the Doctor, with him having to actually convince her NOT to blow things up, best interaction ever. Impeccable. Also I would've said Romana if I hadn't listened to Gallifrey... I loved the dynamic of two Time Lords in one TARDIS, but boy did presidency not do good things for her...

SHIT actually scratch that. It's Graham. He's the best. He carries food around. I just keep forgetting about this entire recent part of the show which is probably not a good sign.

11) It was a tough one, I had to spend like twenty minutes just thinking about it, but I think... Tegan. I literally only remember her incessantly complaining about how much she wants to go home (which isn't the first time in the series, but like Ian and Barbara at least were genuinely interested in what's going on on their adventures) and the pretty vague Mara storyline which really feels just like them trying to batter her up for zero reason before getting rid of the character. Close second is Turlough, he just doesn't feel like a worthy companion, but his storyline of this pathetic little coward being sent to kill the Doctor gives him extra points.

12) I SWEAR TO GOD I FUCKING CHOKED!!! WHY. Good thing I have an answer and don't have to rant AGAIN. Its Thirteen and Yaz SO FAR. If they ruin it with sappy kisses, it's gonna be Twelve with River, they're very close second.

18) We didn't really see that many of them huh esp in the older series where paradoxically there were more alien planet episodes I think. I would say it's Gallifrey (mainstream, I know, but that's literally the only actually well-known planet so yeah), but only the version of it from like the cutscene flashbacks and Ten's descriptions, red grass, silver trees and all, not the mildly-red-stone-desolate-plane we actually see in the show lol
