DO YOU HAVE ANY THEORYS FOR 6B????
Do I ever.
After that trailer was dropped (and even before, because my mind is never idle, dear nonnie) I’ve been spinning through several different ideas of what I think could happen in 6b. LET’S BREAK DOWN WHAT WE KNOW, AND WHAT I THINK THAT MEANS.
1. Scott and his pack are pariahs now.-I’m thinking that this could be because all of the supernatural was more or less revealed in Season 6. The entire town of Beacon Hills was kidnapped by the Ghost Riders, and as far as we know, it’s not like you forget that once you’re back in the real world. (”Something happened in Beacon Hills, to the people here.”) I mean, at one point the Ghost Rider’s world was plopped right on top of Beacon Hills with a train going through the town and everything!!
But back to the point: the supernatural has been revealed, and as a result some of the townspeople probably aren’t feeling too kindly to those who they know are werewolves and/or who seem to always be around when bad things happen. A bunch of kids in the library saw Scott shifted as he fought the Beast. They chose to keep his secret then because he was protecting them...but you know how hysteria builds. And A LOT of people in this town have been killed or had family and friends killed because of the werewolf antics. The Kanima and The Darach were full on serial killers! Scott alone has had a bunch of close friends/acquaintances die: Erica, Boyd, Allison. I’m almost surprised more of the family members haven’t gotten suspicious of those who had previously associated with their dead loved ones. As a result of his being a powerful werewolf and because he always seemed to be tangentially related to all this bad stuff, I’m betting the town is feeling not so friendly to Scott McCall and his friends.2. New Hunters-You know who I bet would be all too eager to step in as a leader of a bunch of angry townsfolk and direct them towards killing all werewolves? I’ll give you a hint, he’s the one who said “We find them. We kill them. We kill them all.” in the Season 2 trailer, which was also a soundbite featured in the 6b sneak peek!
...You said Gerard Argent, right? Because I think that Gerard Argent is going to try and become some sort of leader of the new hunters. Or at least work with them in some capacity. “The best way to build an army is through fear.” I bet Gerard would 100% side with the army of hunters in this war taking over Beacon Hills. Gerard also is the one talking to the entire pack asking if they feel nostalgic being back together. I wonder if he’s partially the reason why some of the characters travel back to Beacon Hills, maybe he lures him there. Because he wants to eradicate the pack that’s caused him so much trouble and been responsible (in his eyes) for the death of three of his family members. His telling Scott to run could less be a word of advice and more of a threat “Run because I’m coming after you.” (I actually recommend rewatching the Season 2 trailer because I’m sensing some similar vibes between what’s happening in 6b and what was going in way back when.)
They’re probably the ones making Scott and the pack feel like pariahs because they want all supernatural out of Beacon Hills. There was too much paralleling of Scott running from the Argent hunters in earlier seasons in that little snippet from the MTV awards show. It could also explain why Malia suspects that Chris is the one who shot the person whose body they found in the woods: maybe they know Gerard is involved or they’re making an educated guess because it’s a silver bullet with the Argent crest. But at that point that pack doesn’t know where Chris’ loyalty will be.
3. HP Lovecraft??-It’s like Jeff Davis has an encyclopedia on what shit will gross me out and he just flips to a random page and decides that’s gonna be in the new season. Lovecraft is famous for his work in horror fiction. One of the things that are a huge hallmark of his work is “Cthulu” and other ancient alien monsters that are huge and terrifying. These Old Ones were worshipped by cults and more or less driven insane if they got too close to their “gods”. And the Old Ones aren’t particularly benevolent beings anyways.
Teen Wolf Wiki (scroll down to about halfway) said that one of the villains of the season is “The Faceless” and that’s the tomato looking guy who we saw in the trailer. He seems to be stumbling around a lot so I expect he’s going to be a big deal. Perhaps he’s the one more than just inspiring fear. I don’t expect that he’s the only horrifying monsters in Beacon Hills. Like a giant spider* for example (which is an actual Old One from Lovecraft’s mythos)!
Some interesting themes of Lovecraft’s that may pop up in Teen Wolf (and kind of have already) include inherited guilt (Argents and Hales, anyone?) and civilization under threat (which I think will play a huge part in why the town ostracizes Scott). Something that would be interesting to see Teen Wolf delve into would be forbidden knowledge and how that possessing it can drive people insane, which was very central in ol’ HP’s work.
4. 3.0 *yawn*-Ima do this one real quick. There are four new characters of significance (and a fifth one who is only gonna be in one episode so let’s throw him in why not). We have Nolan (Froy Gutierrez of twitter fame), Gabe (Andrew Matarazzo), Quinn (Lucy Loken) and Tamora Monroe(Sibongile Mlambo).
Based on what Froy tweets, I’m suspecting that Nolan is/becomes a werewolf, and the same goes for Quinn. Froy tweeted a while ago that both he and Lucy were excited to show off the work they’d done on their characters, which makes it seem as though they be related (either familiarly or within a pack) As a result of the anti-supernatural brigade, they’re pushed into contact with Scott’s pack.
Another possibility (this works extra well if they are siblings or something) is that Nolan is “recruited” for the wolves and Quinn is “recruited” (or is just more suspicious) for the hunters, and that’s why Liam is attacking her at the library. Although I thought I saw her in the background of a pack shot with Scott, Lydia, Malia, and Theo so...I’m mostly confused on Quinn okay. She also could be someone who dies because it doesn’t seem like she worked with Ms. Monroe as much as Nolan and Gabe did.
Gabe is 115% a new hunter. He tweeted out a diagram of a crossbow and he’s one of the boys who is basically holding a gun in like...all of his shots.
And it seems as though the guidance counselor, Ms. Monroe, is a hunter as well. She shows up in at least one shot with a gun and standing behind Gabe with one as well. Maybe she’s trying to get close to kids in the high school and bring them over to the hunters’ way of thinking. Jeff also said she’d be a “sympathetic” villain, which makes me think that one of the deaths from the past season is going to turn her from a regular guidance counselor into a hunter. Jeff said there was a flashback scene that shows us her origin story, and it’s something that we’ve already seen in Beacon Hills. My bet is she’s either Boyd’s older sister or she’s related to one of the people killed by the kanima/darach.
Little #5 is Benjamin Wadsworth who is playing...we don’t know. But he has a “key role” in the finale of the show and was photographed (by Jeff himself) working with Tyler Posey. It’s possible that he’s going to be a part of a werewolf “changing of the guard” to help defend Beacon Hills while Scott leaves. That caption initially just said “Like father like son” and then he added the hashtag because people thought he could be playing Scott’s actual kid in a flashforward.
I think he’s also filmed with JR Bourne (Chris Argent), who may be serving as a mentor to Benjamin so that his character can help preserve a balance in Beacon Hills between hunters and the supernatural where both sides are protecting those who cannot protect themselves.
5. Halwyn, the new Hellhound-Casey Deidrick was on Eye Candy but it got cancelled so now he’s giving Parrish a run for his money ($5) on how to really be a flaming hot dog.
Ahem. From what I’ve gathered from social media, Casey has posted a lot about the Wild Hunt when referencing his role in Teen Wolf. This makes sense, because as you may remember from Lydia’s revelation in Season 5, hellhounds traditionally ride with the Hunt. But it’s also interesting because the Wild Hunt is gone, right??
Halwyn is described as a 100 yea rold hellhound (fun sidenote: Halwyn means “salt” in Welsh) with “ties to an ancient evil now threatening Beacon Hills”, who escaped from Eichen House. He’s seen showing up at the hospital and burning a hallway, par for the course, etc. etc.
My theory is this: Halwyn escaped from Eichen House and tried to join back with the Hunt but then he realized/felt there was another hellhound and is trying to get Parrish to leave the town with him so that they can go rejoin the Hunt. After all, the hellhound spirit inhabiting Parrish’s body is fucking Cerberus, so it could be that Parrish’s true purpose really is to leave Beacon Hills because he has a higher calling. It’s worth noting that Halwyn has not been described as a villain so his shady dealings (and Parrish has some shady dealings of his own when Cerberus had taken over his body...he’s burned down a hallway or two in his day) in the trailer are possibly a red herring and he’ll end up being an unlikely ally. I mean I think I saw Theo hit him with a 2x4 in the trailer but someone fighting Theo doesn’t make me think that’s the same as that same person fighting against Scott’s pack (I don’t trust Theo).
6. Said the Spider to the Fly-I saved this one for last because I get shivers all over my body if I think about it too much. UGH OKAY.
This is the title for Episode 6x11, it’s taken from a poem wherein a Spider uses seductive language and flattery to eventually trap a poor little fly, who knows that the Spider can kill her, in his web. We, the naive little Teen Wolf fandom, thought that this meant that someone was going to show up in 6x11 who flattered the pack and ingratiated themselves to them and this person would be the villain. If this in something that still holds true, my money is 100% on this being a Theo-type storyline.
But then...the trailer came out.
And we have Lydia (maybe having a banshee vision) walking through a hallway covered in fucking spider webs. (While wearing a butterfly cardigan nonetheless). And Lydia says “We opened a door to another world,” referencing when they opened the rift to the Wild Hunt, “and something came out with us.” And then she sees a flayed body. Scott and Malia also see similarly disgusting bodies with no eyes.
I think this “Other World” is basically the world of monsters. Like real, terrifying, “only purpose is killing” Lovecraftian menaces. Remember how I said that there was a spider monster? It’s called “Atlach-Nacha” and it spins a web between the real world and the dreamworld. When it’s web is finished...the world ends because of all the monsters coming over from the Dreamworld. (NB: This monster wasn’t created by Lovecraft but by another horror author who writes within the “Cthulu Mythos” started by HP). This type of creature is a Great Old One because...it’s very old. And the evil in Beacon Hills is said apparently ancient. Hurrah.
It could be that the work of Mr. Douglass/N*zi Werewolf and then the pack broke the barrier between the worlds when they brought everyone back, and now the “price to pay” is the rift is always open. Liam says “There’s something out there. Everyone’s afraid.” could refer to this spider monster, possibly a fear demon (Chris talks about being terrified with Melissa almost as if he was incapable of not being afraid when something happened) that’s also manipulating the town (sidebar: Nyarlathotep is a monster created by Lovecraft who is also known as “The Skinless Man” and can also assume the shape of a human), or whatever else is killing people.
So, you can see why the townspeople are so on edge because the supernatural that once existed on the peripheral is knocking down their doors and munching on their eyeballs.
***LATE EDITION**EW basically confirmed that there was something spider-related that’s going to torment Beacon Hills and us, the viewers. So it might not be a banshee vision there might actually be a huge ass spider in the school, eating eyeballs. It seems that the reason the pack is still in town is due to mysterious deaths, one of which is totally Hayden.
Little things:1. I don’t think it’s that the world opened is a parallel world in the way that we’d see another version of the characters. 2. *IF* Lydia is the person on the slab in the morgue, I think it’s a banshee vision or she’s laying on there to try and trigger one. I also think she’s having a banshee vision/fugue in the tunnels in that one shot where the girl is behind the grate. 3. Stiles and Derek are brought back to Beacon Hills at the same time for a reason and it ties into them also appearing in 6x11. There’s probably something around DC that Derek needs to do and Stiles is going to help him. Perhaps they’re going to go pick up Cora? (this is wishful thinking)4. I don’t think Stiles is a full FBI agent. I think he either was given or swiped the vest to protect himself. It seems as though the FBI are there to work with Scott, probably through the influence of his father. 5. Isaac Lahey doesn’t believe in cell phones and that’s the reason why he’s not back from France.
Feel free to shoot me an ask if you’d like me to elaborate on any of these or discuss my theories on anything I missed! This was supposed to be a short post and I apologize.
