#But if Shakespeare is allowed to leave the pre-1600 section I won't be able to sleep

Alright I’ve started by separating my “modern” literature section (i.e. poems, plays, and novels published after 1600), which is easier than the rest because, having temporarily parked the idea of separating out the plays from the novels, I can just arrange them alphabetically by author’s surname.
A bit of quick stacking later and I have to admit I have a serious Wodehouse problem- the stack of Wodehouse books alone is larger than the stack for every other letter and has to be set apart from the others in the W category. And I know for a fact that Plum’s pile isn’t as large as it could be, since I’ve torn through quite a few library and audiobooks in my time.
#It has some competition from the M pile but that's just because the A Song of Ice and Fire books are massive#I'm still not sure whether I'm going to get rid of those#Also I realise my definition of 'modern' will be controversial#After all what does Aphra Behn have in common with P.G. Wodehouse that she doesn't with Shakespeare and Marlowe#But if Shakespeare is allowed to leave the pre-1600 section I won't be able to sleep#The organisation of that section is infinitely more important and careful as it's more relevant to my academic interests#Meanwhile the post-1600 section has very few seventeenth and eighteenth century books#And mostly is just full of things read for pleasure (hence the oversaturation of Wodehouse)#I'm interested to see the stats on this section though because I know I read a lot more 19th century books#But because I've not bought copies of quite a few of the ones I've read it looks like I read more 20th century lit#Which is not entirely accurate#Anyway I wasn't an English student so haven't the same literary ideals#And the large pile of Wodehouse is the equivalent of a large box of tea in an otherwise ordinary kitchen#Necessary to get through the week#Earth & Stone#books#Based on author initials it's a bit difficult to calculate numbers anyway- I only have two Austen books and 1 Burns#But that's because they're collections- 1 complete works of Austen 1 complete works of Burns and one book with 4 Austen novels (a gift)#By contrast H gets a boost in numbers because the complete James Herriot series is all individual books rather than an anthology
