Honestly I think one of the most useful economic skills from a left/anti-capitalist perspective is to forget about dollars/currency and think of costs in hours; ie "how many hours of labor does it take to do/provide xyz".
It's helpful for understanding why some modes of production are peticularly/inherently exploitative and/or unsustainable, and to look for ways things could be better
#This partly inspired by door dash discourse#“Food delivery services are important to some people” is true#And doesn't change that “an on-demand single client per trip delivery service is going to be exploitative”#But also discussions from people who call themselves communists about argucultural exports from the global south#Any system of equality between us will mean that the prices of those products#(bananas cholacte coffee etc)#Significantly increase#Because of the large amounts of labor needed in their production#That right now we're benefiting from our labor being worth much more
